CCP Defense Minister Dong Jun said during the "Shangri-La Dialogue" in Singapore, "Anyone who dares to split Taiwan from China (Communist) will be crushed to pieces and destroy themselves." The Mainland Affairs Council of the Republic of China calls on the Chinese Communist Party to face up to the fact that the Republic of China continues to prosper democratically and abandon irrational remarks and actions.

The Mainland Affairs Council of the Republic of China expressed deep regret for the provocative and irrational remarks made by Chinese Communist Party officials during the "Shangri-La Dialogue" in Singapore on the 2nd, and stated that the Chinese Communist Party once again threatened Taiwan and neighboring countries with militaristic remarks, and the risk of its totalitarian system impacting peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region has increased.

"The Republic of China is a sovereign state, and Taiwan has never been a part of the People's Republic of China." The Mainland Affairs Council reiterated that the two sides of the strait are not subordinate to each other. This is an objective fact and the current situation in the Taiwan Strait. The Chinese Communist Party has repeatedly used the UN General Assembly Resolution 2758, which does not involve the status of Taiwan, to mistakenly link its "One China Principle" in an attempt to shape "International One China", which the Taiwanese people and the international community will never accept.

The MAC stressed that "the Chinese Communist Party has repeatedly threatened us with force in international occasions recently, which has seriously violated the provisions of Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the UN Charter, 'not to use or threaten to use force' and the basic spirit of the establishment of the United Nations." The MAC warned the Chinese Communist Party authorities not to misjudge the situation again and again. Any laws and deterrent actions that do not respect public opinion, are not in line with democracy and human rights, and resort to war are in violation of the principles of international law and will ultimately backfire. The MAC called on the international community to jointly respond to this development.

The MAC stated that maintaining peace in the Taiwan Strait is the common responsibility of both sides of the Taiwan Strait. President Lai's inaugural speech has emphasized standing firm and continuing the "four insistences", being neither humble nor arrogant, and maintaining the status quo; replacing confrontation with dialogue and replacing containment with exchanges; pursuing peace in the Taiwan Strait, mutual benefit and coexistence and prosperity as the common goal, has released sufficient goodwill. We call on the Chinese side to understand it with all our heart, form a positive cycle through the accumulation of goodwill, and promote the healthy development of cross-strait relations.

In response to Dong Jun's intimidating remarks against Taiwan. Premier Toh Jung-tai of the Republic of China said today (3 June 2024) that cross-strait relations should not become increasingly tense. Taiwan has released many goodwill policies for the future. He hopes that there will be no verbal attacks on each other, but that the greatest interests of the people of both sides and the peace of the Indo-Pacific region should be taken into consideration. One side cannot be suppressed by verbal threats. Everyone should work calmly for world science and technology, economy and regional peace.

Li Wen, spokesman for the Office of the President of the Republic of China, said on the 2nd that the Chinese Communist Party misinterpreted the position of the Taiwan government during the "Shangri-La Dialogue" and even threatened to use force; it also used political pressure for a long time and did not allow Taiwan to send representatives to express their opinions at the "Shangri-La Dialogue". This move reveals that the Chinese Communist Party lacks confidence in dialogue with the Taiwanese government, and its irrational remarks cannot be recognized by the international community.

Li Wen emphasized that Taiwan's consistent policy position is to maintain the status quo in the Taiwan Strait. As a responsible member of the international community, Taiwan will strive to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. The Chinese Communist Party recently launched a unilateral military exercise provocation. This dangerous and irresponsible way of communication not only undermines the status quo, but also challenges the existing international order. Taiwan will continue to maintain a trusting relationship with democratic countries with similar ideas, and thank the international community for its continued attention to peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.

On the 2nd, DPP spokesman Zhuo Guanting called on the Chinese government to immediately stop verbal and military threats against Taiwan, and to face the current situation of "the two sides of the Taiwan Strait are not subordinate to each other" pragmatically, and not to be a "totalitarian giant baby" who repeatedly and unreasonably abuses and threatens to create trouble. Especially in speeches on important international occasions, the CCP's overbearing words and deeds are shocking.

Zhuo Guanting emphasized that when Taiwan is carrying out important democratic procedures, the Chinese government threatens the countries around the Taiwan Strait with military exercises, retaliates against Taiwan's diplomatic allies with trade means, and launches economic coercion against Taiwan. Now the Chinese Defense Minister has openly issued a crude and barbaric threat declaration in an international occasion. Such actions of the Chinese government are destroying the international order, threatening regional peace, and provoking the entire democratic world.
