According to Cambodian and Chinese media, Cambodia's new Techo International Airport will be put into use on 10 July 2025, and the existing Phnom Penh International Airport will be officially closed. At that time, all air passenger and cargo operations of Phnom Penh International Airport will be transferred to Techo International Airport.
Phnom Penh International Airport was built in 1957 and officially opened on 19 January 1959. The airport was modernized and rebuilt in 1995. As a civil-military airport located 10 km west of Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh International Airport has always been an important aviation service hub for Phnom Penh and its surrounding areas. It is also Cambodia's main external gateway, mainly operating domestic, regional and international scheduled passenger and cargo transportation business.
