Tanks and armored personnel carriers, backed by helicopters and drones, have moved into the suburbs north of Gaza City.
On Monday, local residents said Israeli forces also entered southern Gaza City, threatening Salah Al Deen Road, a 40-kilometer traffic artery that runs through the Gaza Strip.

Hamas' Qassam Brigades claim to launch missiles at Israeli forces
Hamas claimed that its armed branch "Qassan Brigade" had fired machine guns and anti-aircraft guns at Israeli troops earlier on Tuesday (31 October 2023), tank missiles, raising concerns about the plight of Palestinian civilians.
The al-Qassam Brigades, the armed branch of Hamas, stated that the Israeli army invaded the southern Gaza artery. The al-Qassam Brigades responded with "machine gun fire and used 105 mm caliber Yassin missiles (al-Yassin 105 missiles) against four enemy military vehicles."
The Yassin missile is a self-made anti-tank missile produced by Hamas.
The Qassam Brigades also said it had targeted two Israeli tanks and a bulldozer in northwest Gaza with missiles.
The Israeli military had no immediate comment.
Since last Friday, Israel has expanded its ground operations in Gaza. On Monday, Israeli forces also launched a pincer attack on the main cities in northern Gaza from both sides.
Israel said it had rescued a soldier it said was one of 239 hostages captured by Hamas on 7 October 2023.
The Health Directorate of Hamas-controlled Gaza says 8,306 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 7, including 3,457 minors.
As the death toll continues to rise, many countries have called for a moratorium on the fighting to allow more humanitarian aid to be sent to Gaza.
However, Netanyahu said late Monday that Israel would not agree to a ceasefire and would continue to advance its plan to eliminate Hamas.
"To ask Israel for a ceasefire after the horrific attacks on 7 October is to ask Israel to surrender to Hamas, to terrorism, to atrocities. That can't happen," Netanyahu said.
Military experts say Israeli forces have moved slowly in the ground offensive in part because they want to keep open the possibility of negotiating with Hamas to release the hostages.

Baidu map does not indicate the name of Israel

After the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, mainland people discovered that the name "Israel" was not marked on Baidu Maps. This labeling method is in sharp contrast to the CCP’s attitude towards Chinese maps.
Earlier this month, the Palestinian militant group Hamas raided Israel, causing ongoing conflicts between the two sides. At the end of this month, mainland netizens discovered that the country name "Israel" was not marked on Baidu Map.
Epoch Times reporters searched on 31 October 2023 and found that the Baidu map was indeed not labeled. On the contrary, neighbouring Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, etc. all had country names.
However, it is impossible to determine whether the marked situation occurred after the Israeli-Palestinian conflict or existed before.

Thailand will provide visa-free entry for tourists from Taiwan and India
A government official said on Tuesday (31 October 2023) that Thailand will remove visa requirements on foreigners from India and China from next month to May 2024. Visitors to Taiwan are exempted from visa requirements in a bid to attract more tourists as the peak tourist season approaches. The visa exemption program for Chinese may become permanent.
