Taiwan's former legislator Wang Shixiong has also become the focus of the media these two days. He was interviewed by Taiwan's "United Daily News" and disclosed a big news.
Wang Shixiong, 62 years old this year, was diagnosed with two tumours in his liver six years ago. On the recommendation of a Taiwanese doctor, he went to mainland China for liver replacement surgery, which cost about NT$8 million (HK$2.04 million). As for the whereabouts of this person, he said that he did not know, and only heard someone say that the liver donor got paid and went to start a business.
He stated that he arrived in Shanghai on 9 July 2017, and started a series of inspections the next day. After the inspection on the second day, he was notified that "the operation can be performed this weekend" and "the matching operation is quite efficient." The liver removal operation was performed in Shandong at 5 am on 16 July 2023, and one-third of the living liver was removed. The surgeon arrived in Shanghai by plane at 7 a.m. and went to Renji Hospital for surgery.
However, from his description, we can actually see that there are at least four doubts about the source of the liver:
First, as we all know, organ transplantation requires type matching, and the probability is very low. He did not have a type match before arriving in Shanghai, and he was notified that he could undergo surgery the next day after the examination. Obviously, there are a group of living people waiting to match him for transplantation. Who are they?
Second, he said that it is a third of the liver, but we have checked all the published papers and official information in China before, except for a few doctors who perform partial liver transplantation between living donors in order to show their skills, almost all of them are full Liver Transplantation. How did that 28-year-old boy have the life to "start a business"?
The third point of doubt is that the CCP authorities expressly stipulate that only organ donations between relatives can be done. Why should a well-known hospital like Shanghai Renji Hospital break the law for the sake of a retired Taiwan legislator?

Mystery of the sources of live organs in China
The fourth doubtful point is that China, where only 300,000 people donate livers, far exceeds the number of liver transplants in the United States, where 100 million people donate. There are about 6,000 liver transplants in the United States every year, and the average waiting time is about one year, while the average waiting time in China is more than two weeks. Where do organs come from?
