Hotel Review II : Haikou Meilan Airport Hotel

Review, photo by : Gan Yung Chyan, KUCINTA SETIA

The Superior 2-Bed room on the tenth level is comfortable and allows me to see the full view of the airport runway in front of Terminal 1 and the entire aircraft body.

Apart from the low strength of the hotel wifi and the showers splashing onto the floor outside the bathroom, the room location allows me to walk to the other corner of the tenth level to see the runway connecting Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the Haikou airport and aircraft moving from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 for takeoff.

I am very happy with the holiday experience so far at the hotel that I extended my stay on 25 April to 9 pm at the additional cost of 336 RMB. I will stay at this hotel again for plane-spotting and flight transit purposes.

I have to say on the first day of my third time stay at this hotel, I have to travel by airport shuttle bus from Terminal 2 instead to the hotel as I cannot call with my handphone to the hotel to fetch me.

Waiting time for the airport shuttle bus takes less than ten minutes.

The reserved location of the room on the eighth level only allows me to see the roof of Terminal 1 which obstructs the view of part of the aircraft body.

I request the hotel staff to change the Superior Double Bed room on the eighth level to the higher level tenth floor so that I can see the entire aircraft body but since the same Superior Double Bed room is not available, the staff allow me to stay in the available Superior 2-Bed Room on the tenth level for two nights.

I am pleased with the Superior 2-Bed room for the airport runway view except the bathroom where the showers tend to splash over to the floor outside the bathroom.

成都闹市挂反共条幅 知情者曝抗议勇士最新情况

Sichuan Chengdu youth Mei Shilin has been missing for nearly half a month after hanging three giant anti-communist banners on the overpass in the city. The latest news says that Mei Shilin has been criminally detained by the Chinese Communist Party authorities, and the police are investigating his overseas contacts.

On the morning of 15 April, a picture of three white-bottomed red-letter banners hung on the viaduct outside the Chadianzi Bus Station in Chengdu, Sichuan, went viral on the Internet. The picture says "There is no national rejuvenation without political system reform", "The people do not need a political party with unconstrained power", "China does not need anyone to point out the direction, democracy is the direction".

After hanging the banner, 27-year-old Mei Shilin has been out of contact. There are reports that Mei Shilin has been detained by the police.

On 28 April 2025, Mr. Qin from Chengdu told Radio Free Asia that the Chengdu authorities are investigating whether he has a foreign background. If he does, he will be handed over to the National Security Bureau and transferred to the Municipal National Security Bureau Detention Center. If no substantial evidence of collusion with foreign forces is found, he will be handled by the Chengdu police.

Mr. Qin said that the authorities are extremely nervous about this incident. In the past half month, the national security and traffic police of the Public Security Bureau in Chengdu have been highly nervous. They are afraid that if a similar incident happens again, the Public Security Bureau Chief will have to resign.

Another Chengdu insider, Mr. Yang, also confirmed that Mei Shilin has been detained by the police.

"The young man who hung the political reform slogan, Mei Shilin, is from Yongfu Town, Muchuan County, Sichuan Province. He previously worked in a technology company in Chengdu. He was treated unfairly in a labor dispute, and when he complained to the government for help, he was ignored. Such things are actually commonplace." Mr. Yang said.

It is reported that Mei Shilin once worked for Shenzhen Broad Vision Zhiyuan Technology (Chengdu) Co., Ltd.

Regarding the incident of Mei Shilin publicly hanging the banner, Mr. Yang said that Chinese society is under high pressure, and many young people are dissatisfied with reality and are continuing to rise. "Such a pressure cooker of social pressure has also made young people reflect on society and the entire political system."

Du Wen, a former Inner Mongolia official living abroad, recently revealed that Mei Shilin had emailed him a 13-second short video, photos and ID card on the day of the incident, and said, "I have prepared this slogan for more than a year, and I hope to help spread it."

Du Wen said that Mei Shilin is the Sichuan version of "Peng Lifa" and he has been preparing for this for a long time. He believes that as a Chinese, he lives too aggrieved, and he wants to shout, even if he is torn to pieces.

At that time, Du Wen also advised Mei Shilin to leave China quickly, but he said that he wanted to stay in China.

A few days ago, Australian legal scholar Yuan Hongbing revealed to the Epoch Times that these banners were removed after being hung for nearly three hours. What really shocked the CCP was not the content of the banners themselves. The whole incident not only revealed the collapse of the CCP's stability maintenance system, but also exposed the potential dissatisfaction and slacking phenomenon within the system with Xi's regime.

It is reported that this matter directly attracted Xi Jinping's attention, and the case was handed over to the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the secret police of the Ministry of State Security for joint investigation.

On 28 April, political commentator Shan Fengchen wrote in the Epoch Times, "I want to stay in China!" When the Chinese people heard Mei Shilin's words, they would be proud and excited; but when Xi Jinping heard it, he would be frightened and unable to sleep or eat. This is equivalent to a thunder hanging over Xi Jinping and the CCP.

Recently, a video and picture of an anti-communist banner hung on an elevated bridge in Chengdu, Sichuan, were uploaded online. On 25 April 2025, the identity of the warrior who hung the banner was revealed, and netizens called him the "Peng Lifa" of Sichuan.

On 15 April 2025, a photo circulated online showed that outside the Chadianzi Bus Station in Chengdu, Sichuan, three large banners with red characters on a white background were hung on the elevated bridge, which read: "There is no national rejuvenation without political system reform", "The people do not need a political party with unconstrained power", and "China does not need anyone to point out the direction, democracy is the direction".

Yuan Hongbing, a legal scholar living in Australia, disclosed to the Epoch Times that the banner was discovered and reported by a patrolman after being hung for two hours; but the superior did not instruct to remove it immediately, but asked the patrolman to protect the scene. As a result, the banner was hung for "nearly three hours".

On 25 April 2025, Du Wen, a dissident living in exile, first disclosed the identity of the warrior who hung the banner. The warrior is named Mei Shilin, 27 years old, from Yongfu Town, Muchuan County, Sichuan.

Du Wen revealed to The Epoch Times that after Mei Shilin hung the banner, he sent him a 13-second video, picture and ID card, saying that he had prepared for this for more than a year. He believed that as a Chinese, he lived too unfairly, and he wanted to shout, even if he was torn to pieces. Du Wen advised Mei Shilin to leave China quickly, but Mei Shilin insisted on staying.

Du Wen, who now lives in Europe, was the director of the Legal Advisory Office of the Inner Mongolian Government and was persecuted and imprisoned by the CCP for nearly 13 years. For safety reasons, Du Wen did not immediately disclose Mei Shilin's identity.

At present, Mei Shilin has been out of contact for more than ten days. Du Wen speculated that Mei Shilin may have been arrested, and he called on all sectors of society to pay attention immediately.

Mei Shilin was called "Peng Lifa" of Sichuan by netizens. In October 2022, Peng Lifa hung a banner on the Sitong Bridge in Zhongguancun, Beijing, shouting "We don't want nucleic acid, we want food! We don't want blockade, we want freedom! We don't want lies, we want dignity!"

Afterwards, slogans demanding freedom and democracy appeared in various parts of China, and a "spark can start a prairie fire" trend has formed in the mainland.

The four secrets of the truly rich are beyond your expectation

真正的富人有四大行事祕訣 出乎你的意料

The vast majority of people want to be rich, so what is a truly rich person? Live in a mansion, wear luxury goods, and have lavish meals every day? A truly wealthy person is not just someone with a high income or a lavish lifestyle. They are the ones who maintain discipline, purpose, and a long-term vision in their financial lives, and who understand that true wealth comes from wise decisions.

Truly wealthy people live within their means and do not flaunt their wealth even when they spend money. In essence, it is more important to consistently save than how much you earn or how much you spend.

Dave Ramsey, a well-known American financial expert, has hosted the financial program "The Ramsey Show" for 32 years, proposing solutions to the financial problems of the audience.

gobankingrates reports that one of Ramsey's most enduring financial advice is that wealth accumulation does not necessarily depend on how much money you make, but on how you manage your wealth. Many people assume that higher incomes automatically lead to wealth, but Ramsey believes that disciplined spending and saving are more important.

“When you stop worrying about what other people think and truly live for yourself and your family, your spending habits and lifestyle will be completely different,” he said.

Here are four secrets that truly wealthy people understand and consistently practice.

Don’t dress to attract attention

Rich people do not leave their financial future to chance. They make plans, stick to them and review them regularly, so they don’t leave themselves too much room for extravagant purchases like designer clothes. Just look at Buffett's lifestyle.

Ramsey recommends taking small steps to build an emergency fund, pay down debt or invest for retirement before spending thousands of dollars on a pair of pants or shoes. Truly wealthy people know where their money goes every month, and it’s not hanging in their closet.

No vacation photos

Once a person grows to wealthy levels, they tend not to be public about their wealth or spending.

Some of the rich's biggest lavish expenses include traveling, but the truly wealthy won't let you know.

"They take wonderful vacations, but they rarely post them to you on Instagram because they don't take you on vacation. They want to go on vacation themselves," Ramsay said.

Controlling holiday spending
Generosity is the mark of a truly wealthy person, and giving often brings more satisfaction than financial success. But that doesn't mean you can't control your spending.

"Christmas gifts around the tree are very reasonable," Ramsay said of the money the truly wealthy spend on presents.

Live within your means
True wealth comes from taking a long-term view and avoiding debt, which means that large expenses such as buying luxury cars should be avoided as much as possible.

“They drive something so low-key that the valet is rarely impressed until they get a tip. It’s usually a used Camry, a nice used Honda, or some kind of vintage pickup truck,” Ramsey said.

Rich people understand that owning a reliable car with no mortgage payments will take them further in their future financial lives than other cool options.

Buffett reportedly drives a used 2014 Cadillac XTS, which replaced his 2006 Cadillac DTS.

"The truth is, I only drive about 3,500 miles a year, so I rarely buy new cars," Buffett said, according to Forbes.

Xi Jinping has been in power for 12 years like a gangster boss

Mrs. Lee Hsien Loong reposted: Xi Jinping has been in power for 12 years like a gangster boss

Ho Ching, wife of former Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, reposted an article on Facebook on 21 April 2025 from a Singaporean commentary platform, which directly pointed out that Chinese Communist Party General Secretary Xi Jinping has "always acted like a gangster boss" in the past 12 years of his rule, but now he hopes that Southeast Asian neighbors who have been victims of the tariff war will treat him as a friend and partner, and even launched a charm offensive, which is ridiculous.

The article published by Singaporean commentary platform Critical Spectator on 18 April 2025 and reposted by Ho Ching today was titled "If Xi Jinping had not acted like a gangster boss in the past 12 years, China would have greater global influence today" and made the above comments.

The article, written by the Polish founder of the platform, Michael Petraeus, began by directly pointing out that Xi Jinping's recent charm offensive in Southeast Asia is ridiculous, exposing how bad China's current situation is. The "emperor himself (referring to Xi Jinping)" has to beg the neighbors who have been plundered by him for more than 10 years to cooperate with him.

The article lamented, imagine that it was Xi Jinping who came to talk about "resistance to confrontation" and "protectionism." It is this man who imposed the "nine-dash line" in the South China Sea on ASEAN countries, violated international law by claiming that most of the South China Sea belongs to China, built military facilities on disputed islands and reefs, and sent coast guard ships to harass ships from other countries. Now he dares to stand up and say "Dear friends! Let us work together! Let us resist confrontation!".

The article said that as for "protectionism", China, a "shining beacon of free trade", banned many foreign companies from operating in the country, violating all its commitments before joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), but now Xi Jinping said "protectionism is not good!".

The article pointed out that Xi Jinping has "always behaved like a gangster boss" in his 12 years in power, like the Chinese version of "Don Corleone" (the gangster boss in the movie "The Godfather" series), who always made "unrefusable offers" to everyone, but now hopes that the victims will regard him as a friend and partner.

The article points out that in ASEAN alone, the CCP's often-questioned "Belt and Road" investment, debt traps, or attempts to dump other countries at low prices to transfer production capacity have flooded these countries with cheap goods, causing their domestic industries to collapse; now that Xi Jinping has begun to call for a partnership with Europe, the CCP has abused Europe as much as the United States, and supported Moscow in the Ukrainian war, which is actually a war against the West.

The article mentioned that just because the world hates US President Donald Trump does not mean that Xi Jinping has become an "acceptable alternative." Although Trump may be condemned globally, he has expressed his intention to reach an agreement with all countries, and once the agreement takes effect, the United States is still widely trusted to fulfill the agreement. But this is not the case with the CCP, because the CCP is known for treating its partners unfairly.

The article directly points out that the CCP's abuse of other countries for more than 10 years cannot be ignored as if nothing happened, just because China now faces the same problems as the victims. China has decades to prove its sincere support for international multilateralism. If China really supported it, it has now been rewarded. China's international relations are full of cynicism and reflexive short-termism.

The article concludes that the above reason is that Xi Jinping cannot expect the world to follow him in confronting Trump. In the eyes of the public, even if Trump wins, they will not care too much.
