Along the Phuket Airport runway, there lies three airport cafes, Sea Sky Cafe, 8/5 Runway Cafe and Air & Sea Cafe. The airport cafe nearest to Phuket Airport Domestic Terminal is Sea Sky Cafe and the furthest is Air & Sea Cafe. Today's report touches on Sea Sky Cafe.
The neighbouring cafe of 8/5 RunwayCafe, Sea Sky Cafe, is the first airport cafe to stop by for plane-spotting. Sea Sky Cafe is part of Sea Sky @ My Home, the low-cost hotel. The cafe re-opens on 8 March 2026 after years of renovation. The cafe and the plane-spotting facilities of the hotel are opened from 7 am to 6 pm whereas 8/5 RunwayCafe opens from 9 am to 5 pm Thailand local time only.
The available plane-spotting facilities seat up to two on the right side and left side of the second level respectively. There is more space in one inner observation deck and on the roof top but again there are still few seats. There is also no Wifi connection on the contrary despite roaming on the roof top.
Sea Sky Cafe is best for spotting takeoffs during the summer season in Phuket as aircraft take off for the sky high and fast enough for photographers to capture the shots. Guests swimming in the pool can see planes flying overhead but the space around the pool for plane-spotting is too narrow and dangerous to walk on.
Be careful when walking up and down the stairs.
Whole-day plane-spotting is allowed for guests of Sea Sky @ My Home. To stay in this hotel, a roomkey deposit of 200 Baht is required. Guests may book for a room on non-Trip booking platforms or contact the hotel management Sea Sky Room Service via WhatsApp or Facebook. The last photo above shows the contacts.
