According to NHK TV, in order to simplify the procedures of quarantine and inspection for immigrants, the Digital Agency of Japan stated that it will launch a network service that can use mobile phones and other devices to declare entry-related procedures online from 20 December 2021. The service is available in Japanese and English and will be put into use at six airports in Japan, including Narita, Haneda and Kansai.

Starting from 20 December, six airports in Japan have launched the online service for declaration of immigration procedures.

According to reports, people entering Japan from overseas need to use mobile phones and other terminals to log in their passports, basic information such as health status, and information needed for entry into the system in advance. After arriving at the airport, show the QR code displayed on the screen of the mobile phone at various windows such as "Quarantine", "Immigration Inspection", and "Customs Inspection". The staff use special equipment to read the QR code and check the content.

The relevant person in charge of the Japan Digital Agency expressed that he hopes to improve the efficiency of immigration procedures through this service, and at the same time reduce the risk of contracting new coronary pneumonia when submitting relevant documents. In the future, there are plans to add more language versions of the system.
