According to Taiwanese media reports, an Eastar Jet B737-800 flight from Busan to Taoyuan Airport was suspected of being striked by a bird and finally landed safely at Taoyuan Airport. However, the subsequent flight back to Busan was canceled, and the passengers of the flight were stranded at the airport and waited for seven hours before starting their journey.

According to reports, Eastar Jet flight ZE984 was originally scheduled to fly from Taoyuan to Busan at 2.50 am on 5 January 2025. Because the flight from Busan to Taoyuan was suspected of being hit by a bird, flight ZE984 was forced to be canceled. Passengers all got off the plane and waited in the airport lobby until they set off again at more than 10 am on 5 January 2025.

Taoyuan Airport Company stated that the flight from Busan to Taoyuan did not report the situation when it landed, and it applied for a mechanical failure after landing to cancel the next flight. Eastar Jet did not respond to this.
