Recently, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) rarely admitted that the COVID-19 (CCP virus, covid) epidemic may be like influenza, that is, many influenzas that are considered to be influenza A may actually be caused by the novel coronavirus (covid virus).

Chinese people told NTD that recently, many people from children to young adults and then to the elderly have died suddenly, and the authorities concealed the news.

Zhang Wei from Chaohu City, Anhui Province: "The news is all covered up. There are thousands of people in our factory. People die every day. Two people in their forties died last month, and one died during the Chinese New Year. There are more elderly people, more than a dozen. There have been many sudden deaths in the past two months."

On 4 February 2025, the CCP party media said that the latest test results published in the weekly report of the CCP Center for Disease Control and Prevention showed that the covid virus may tend to flu-like and form a seasonal epidemic pattern. Among the 1,513 cases of respiratory infections tested, people aged 30 to 40 faced the risk of dual infection of the covid virus and influenza, which was 2.31 times higher than other age groups.

Lin Xiaoxu, an American virologist, said: "This is actually unusual, because in the past, teenagers and the elderly were the most susceptible to infection. This shows that the virus has undergone a significant change in human adaptability."

There are currently multiple viruses circulating in China at the same time. Experts remind that patients are most afraid of compound infections, and people should take precautions.

Lin Xiaoxu: "The biggest threat is that many people are infected with these viruses and then have a compound infection with bacteria, and many of these bacteria are generally resistant to drugs. So I think this has also contributed to the high mortality rate."
