The longest remote ground mobile corridor connection system in China is operational

The intelligent mobile corridor equipped with new energy photovoltaic power supply jointly developed by Baiyun Airport Ground Handling Company (hereinafter referred to as "Ground Handling Company") and the manufacturer for more than a year has been officially put into use at Baiyun Airport recently, supporting passengers who take flights at remote aircraft parking bays with an "umbrella".

This is the longest remote ground mobile corridor connection system in China, with a stretching length of up to 30 meters. With this mobile "umbrella", passengers can walk leisurely on the last 30 m from the shuttle bus to the passenger elevator car, no matter boarding or disembarking, they are no longer afraid of wind and rain.

What does the mobile corridor look like?

The moving corridor is 2.48 m wide and 2.43 m high. It occupies only 5.2 m in the folded state. There is a canopy on the top. The operator operates from the fixed end of the equipment to both ends. One end is connected to the ferry door, and the other end is connected to the passenger ladder car , and the temporary channel construction can be completed. After getting off the shuttle bus, passengers can directly board the plane by going through the 30-m corridor.

The innovative technologies behind the moving corridor

This seemingly inconspicuous mobile corridor actually condenses a number of innovative technologies and design ingenuity behind it.

▷The entire mobile corridor system is driven by clean energy—solar energy, which can be supplied with energy for operation through photovoltaic power supply modules, without the need for an external power supply, to achieve green operation and zero carbon emissions.

▷The mobile corridor also innovatively uses multi-wheel drive and steer-by-wire technology, with a driving speed of up to 6 kmers per hour, which can meet the needs of mobile operations between aircraft positions.

▷The part of the telescopic corridor adopts a multi-link hinge mechanism, which realizes turning and docking while ensuring the structural strength, and can be quickly retracted and deployed. The telescopic mast adopts counterweight design, which enhances the wind resistance stability; the canopy adopts double-layer protection design, which has excellent rainproof performance and long service life.

The use of mobile corridors has effectively solved the problems of order maintenance and risk control on the apron at remote stands, and greatly improved the quality of ground handling services at Baiyun Airport. On this basis, the ground handling company will further explore and develop a multi-channel connection system. While providing passengers with safe, reliable, intelligent, efficient, warm and comfortable services, it will strive to provide the civil aviation industry with a one-stop boarding solution at remote aircraft parking bays and contribute to the ground handling service quality of Baiyun.

Tianjin Country Garden Fengjin Courtyard community cracked and subsided in a large area, causing nearly 4,000 residents to suffer losses. According to local people, this incident may be related to the operation of geothermal wells near the community; some experts directly pointed out that the official approval of the large-scale construction of high-rise residential buildings near Bohai Bay was "anti-human". There is even more news that the official and the developer are playing football with each other over the aftermath costs.

The ground of the community cracked and subsided, and the owners suddenly lost their homes

Recently, media at home and abroad have followed up and reported on the cracking and subsidence of the ground in Tianjin Fengjin Courtyard Community. Brother Zhao, the owner of Fengjin Courtyard, had red eyes when he was interviewed by the lcoal Chinese media. He said that his home had just been renovated 10 days ago, but now he has a home that he cannot go back to. "Look at our big family, how many things are here, it's hard to buy a house, and we still have a mortgage."

The owner Wang Mei's family of five is currently crowded in one room in the hotel. They have to send their daughter to kindergarten, get medicine for the elderly, and go to work. Wang Mei feels that she cannot stand it any longer. She said, "Sometimes I want to cry, and my whole life's hard work is over."

The owner, Liu Yuye, said that he suddenly had no home, and now he felt very anxious. "I felt very wronged when I thought about it yesterday, and I sat in the car and cried."

The subsidence continues to expand, and residents report that it may be related to nearby geothermal mining

In an interview with The Epoch Times on 6 June 2023, Mr. Li, a merchant in Fengjin Courtyard of Tianjin Country Garden, said that at least 10 buildings in the East Gate Courtyard of the community have experienced obvious sinking, tilting, and cracking of the walls. Among them, Building 38 Inclined badly. Moreover, the cracking and subsidence of the ground has now extended to villas in other residential areas, and it is estimated that the scope of ground subsidence will be further expanded.

According to Mr. Li, at first the government wanted to straighten the house by pouring mud, but the sinking situation has been expanding. The doors of some buildings can no longer be opened due to the inclination of the wall, which shows that the problem is serious. It is less likely to be repaired this way.

Mr. Li said that after the accident, everyone was very anxious. Since the government has not given a clear statement on how to deal with the aftermath, some residents and owners of the buildings in serious condition are a little excited, and they are discussing sending resident representatives to communicate with the government, asking the government to give an explanation as soon as possible.

Mr. Li also revealed that some local residents believe that the ground subsidence of the community has something to do with the nearby geothermal wells.

"At that time, I did hear the sound of explosions from the geothermal tower. Some people said it was down, and some people said that the well inside was blown up." Mr. Li said.

According to the "Jimu News" report on 2 June 2023, Mr. Li, the owner of Building No. 38 in the community, also mentioned that when the incident happened on the night of May 31, he heard a sound similar to an explosion on the road, and then the road split open. At the same time, people discovered that a tower for drilling a geothermal well a few hundred meters outside the east gate of the community had collapsed.

So, will geothermal mining lead to land subsidence?

According to a report in "Science and Technology Daily" on 10 July2009, if geothermal energy is not developed properly, it will bring about a slow and serious geological disaster - land subsidence. The report said that after geothermal water is extracted, it is difficult to replenish it through natural precipitation like shallow groundwater, so it will create voids in the ground and slowly destroy the geological structure.

The report also quoted Wang Guiling, a researcher at the Institute of Hydrogeology and Environment of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, as saying: "Studies over the years have found that the main causes of land subsidence in Tianjin and some areas in North China may be groundwater, geothermal water, and oil and gas extraction."

Wang Guiling further pointed out that the decline in geothermal water levels in Beijing and Tianjin in recent years has exceeded the 1 m allowed by the state, and excessive exploitation of geothermal water has aggravated land subsidence and increased the risk of land subsidence in some areas.

Industry insiders point out that the approval of the project involved violates science and can be called "anti-humanity"

In response to the land subsidence incident in the residential area undertaken by Tianjin Country Garden, some industry insiders told foreign media that when the government approved developers to build large-scale high-rise residential buildings with high floor area ratios so close to the Bohai Bay, this practice itself concealed Serious hidden danger.

An executive from a state-owned real estate company who requested anonymity told Radio Free Asia that Country Garden's real estate project had problems in its design. Large-scale high-rise buildings can be approved to be built in that geographical location, which does not rule out the possible transfer of interests between the developer and the local evaluation unit.

The executive said: "Then how did you get the approval? You chase after it layer by layer, this thing. Oh, the domestic environment is so bad, I really feel that (helpless)."

Another senior real estate industry professional analyzed that in order for the local government to profit from land finance, Country Garden bought land at a high price, so it had to pay for it with a high floor area ratio, so it built large-scale high-rise residential buildings with a high floor area ratio. However, the residential area where the subsidence occurred is only more than 20 kilometers away from Bohai Bay, but it can obtain official approval. This approach is simply "anti-human".

It is understood that the floor area ratio is an important technical indicator in urban planning, which reflects the development intensity of the land, that is, the amount of use of various human functions carried by a unit of land. The higher the building volume ratio, the greater the pressure on the surrounding urban infrastructure.

Radio Free Asia’s report also revealed that the government and real estate developers have not taken any measures to rectify the aftermath of the large-scale subsidence of the Balitai residential area in Tianjin. According to the information obtained so far, the Tianjin Municipal Government and Country Garden are "playing football" with each other regarding the aftermath costs.
