The school bullying incident in the city of Jiangyou, Sichuan Province, continues to escalate. As public protests were met with violent police repression, local police officials have become a key figure in the case.
Among them, Jiangyou City Public Security Bureau Deputy Director Chen Zhen has been named as a key figure in the case. Unconfirmed online reports indicate that he was accused of personally directing the crackdown, resulting in at least 11 deaths, and is even suspected of abusing his power to exonerate the daughter of a high-ranking official, sparking outrage nationwide.

Image : According to multiple reports from the X platform account @LUOXIANGZY, Deputy Director Chen Zhen led the clearing operation at the Jiangyou protest site on the evening of 4 August 2025.
At the time, the protesters were simply singing the national anthem and calling for a thorough investigation into the bullying of a 14-year-old girl when police suddenly stormed in and violently suppressed the crowd.
The account claims that the operation resulted in at least 11 civilian deaths and numerous injuries or arrests. The crowd chanted, "Bullying the people," "Xi Jinping step down," and "The Communist Party step down," and the situation spiraled out of control.
While reports of deaths remain unconfirmed, the brutal crackdown has been described as "Jiangyou turning into hell," sparking widespread public outrage.
As public opinion intensified, Chen Zhen's personal information, including his name, date of birth, years of party membership, mobile phone number, and home address, was leaked by unknown hackers. Even the schools his children attended were revealed, making him a rare official in China's public security system to have his or her personal information fully exposed.
According to leaked information, Chen Zhen was born in Jiangyou, Sichuan, in October 1976. He began working in 1997 and joined the Communist Party in 2001. He currently serves as Deputy Director and Party Committee Member of the Public Security Bureau, and is a First-Class Police Inspector.
His son is a 8th-grade student at Mianyang Dongchen International School, and his daughter is a 9th-grade student at Mianyang Experimental High School.

According to the account "X" @Israelwaronhama, one of the perpetrators of this bullying incident is the daughter of "the de facto top leader of Jiangyou." The truth behind the incident may not simply be a conflict between teenagers, but rather a retaliation for the girl's refusal to have sex with a CCP official.
The account further pointed out that this unspoken practice of "schools providing officials" is no secret in some places, with principals being required to provide virgins and facing resignation if they fail to meet the requirement. Questions arose about whether Chen Zhen was aware of the situation and even protected the perpetrators, further fueling public anger.
Account X @cskun1989 noted that the Jiangyou incident quickly spread to Beidaihe, alarming the CCP leadership, who were on summer vacation. Xi Jinping was reportedly furious, and Public Security Minister Wang Xiaohong characterized the incident as a "Sichuan version of the Weng'an Incident" and dispatched senior officials to monitor the situation.

If the tide of change remains, Chen Zhen may become the first target of a "sacrifice," with Zhongnanhai shunning responsibility and appeasing public anger. Some analysts believe this incident could replicate the effects of the "White Paper Movement," spreading from a local outbreak to a nationwide scale, triggering a crisis of confidence in the regime.
The account @guan_zhen123456 directly labeled Jiangyou Municipal Party Secretary Dong Zhenghong a "vase-type official" who only cares about photo ops and whitewashing the situation, but does nothing in the face of the crisis. After the incident broke out, chaotic decision-making led to the suppression and loss of control, which was effectively led by Chen Zhen. CCP expert Cai Shenkun also pointed out that Dong Zhenghong has been dismissed.
Outsiders point out that this local governance model of "no action from above, no action from below" is the root cause of many mass incidents in China, and Chen Zhen has become the central figure in the storm.
