Former U.S. President Trump and Biden will face off again in the 2024 presidential election. According to US media analysis, no matter who is elected president, the CCP will be the biggest loser.
Bloomberg reported on 12 February 2024 that Trump and Biden know that the CCP is an important issue in the election, and taking a tough stance against the CCP will prove to be the winner. Trump launched a trade war against China while Biden was in office, and Biden expanded the scope of the trade war. Both men have reasons to say they are taking a tougher stance against China.
Trump once again used tariffs as a bargaining chip to gain votes. He publicly stated on the campaign trail that if elected, he would impose tariffs of more than 60% on all imported products from CCP China, which would reduce the US$575 billion Sino-US trade to almost zero.

The report said that this is bad news for the mainland Chinese economy and the plunging Chinese stock market, and that Trump's remarks may prompt Biden to take tougher measures against the CCP before the election.
Biden may not propose such drastic tariffs but he could choose to impose new restrictions on China in areas such as electric vehicles.
The report quoted Sang Baichuan, a professor at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing and an adviser to the Ministry of Commerce of China, as saying that no matter who is elected, Trump or Biden, it will be a "huge threat" to the CCP.
“Trump’s America First approach may create an opportunity to ‘break through the anti-China economic circle’, and Biden has the ability to exclude China from the technology supply chain. But no matter what, Beijing will face an overall strategy. He is the US president who 'excludes and curbs China's development'," Sang Baichuan said.
The report pointed out that in addition to tariffs, Trump also hinted that he would implement a new ban on two-way investment between the United States and China. He promised to exclude the CCP from "critical industries" in the United States and ensure that U.S. funds will not promote the development of the CCP.
Biden is formulating a screening plan for U.S. investment in areas such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing to lock in the CCP’s competitiveness in cutting-edge technology. He has imposed export controls on China’s semiconductor and chip manufacturing equipment while taking steps to promote the development of these industries in the United States.
The report said that the difference between Trump and Biden is that Trump's approach looks more like a lone soldier, while Biden has built a broader alliance for his policies to prevent the Chinese Communist Party from undermining the U.S.-led world order that have common interests.
