Former U.S. President Trump announced Ohio U.S. Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate in the 2024 presidential election at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 15 July 2024. Vance is friendly to Taiwan and strongly opposed to CCP China in international affairs.

According to comprehensive foreign media reports, Vance gave a speech at the Heritage Foundation, an American think tank, on 20 April 2024, emphasizing that the biggest threat facing the United States is "China's invasion of Taiwan." He criticized President Biden for prioritizing military aid to Ukraine, which should lead to the delay of Arms deliveries to Taiwan.

Vance : Prevent CCP China from invading Taiwan

Vance said that what the United States needs to prevent most is CCP China's invasion of Taiwan. Once this happens, it will have a catastrophic impact on the United States and lead to the Great Depression. In addition, Vance said that now is the time to bring manufacturing back to the United States so that it no longer needs to rely on China, and that continuing to manufacture arms at home will allow the United States to become the arsenal of democratic countries.

Vance : CCP China threatens U.S. employment and commerce

Regarding imported Chinese Communist goods, Vans said that more tariffs should be levied on CCP China because these goods pose an unfair threat to U.S. employment and commerce, and U.S. industries must be protected from foreign competition.

Vance claimed to New York Times columnist Ross Douthat this year that although the United States adopts a policy of strategic ambiguity on the Taiwan issue, he believes that the most important thing is to make it difficult for China to capture Taiwan and to make it clear if China really wanted to invade Taiwan what kind of response should the United States make to attack Taiwan?

Why Vance opposes further aid to Ukraine

Vance also published an article in the New York Times this year, opposing the Biden-Harris administration’s $60 billion aid plan to Ukraine because it would crowd out its commitment to Taiwan. Currently, the delivery of nearly $900 million in Patriot missiles has been delayed, including factors like  aid to Ukraine. Vance believes that if China really invades Taiwan, the Patriot missile system will undoubtedly be very important to Taiwan.

Vance : CCP China is the dirtiest economy, Chinese airlines should also implement "carbon offsets"

On the issue of climate change, Vance criticized the Biden administration for requiring U.S. airlines to implement "carbon offsets" in accordance with the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization. Vance said that CCP China is the dirtiest economy in the world, and their carbon emissions are about twice that of the United States. However, the Biden-Harris administration does not require the Chinese Communist authorities to set relevant regulations on major Chinese airlines.

Similar to Trump's ideas and firm anti-communist stance
The outside world believes that the 39-year-old Vance is most consistent with Trump in ideology.

On 31 January 2023, Vance supported former President Trump in the 2024 Republican presidential primary and subsequently became a staunch Trump supporter.

In terms of policy, Vance supports trade tariffs and opposes US intervention in foreign conflicts, especially the war between Russia and Ukraine.

In his past remarks, Vance has shown a firm anti-communist stance.

During his 2021 campaign for the Senate, Vance has consistently expressed opposition to the United States' dependence on China's industry and called on the US government to support the return of manufacturing jobs. He supports the bipartisan Chips and Science Act, which provides billions of dollars in subsidies for the semiconductor manufacturing industry.

In a 2022 report by The Daily Telegraph, Vance said, "As a senator, I will work with anyone to make sure we stop communist China from buying American farmland." "While Ohio residents are facing increasingly high food prices, communist China is actively buying large tracts of American farmland."

Vance once introduced a bill in the Senate to restrict the Chinese government's access to U.S. capital markets and exchanges, arguing that the Chinese Communist Party has long manipulated the currency and refused to pay interest to U.S. bondholders.

Tennessee Congressman Andy Ogles subsequently introduced a companion bill in the House of Representatives, alleging that the Chinese Communist Party has failed to comply with international financial, trade and commercial laws. Ogles said, "I am honored to work with Senator Vance to take this critical step to hold China (CCP) accountable."

The U.S. presidential election will be held on 5 November 2024, and Trump and Vance are expected to face Democratic President Joe Biden and current Vice President Kamala Harris.

The 2024 Republican National Convention is held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from July 15 to 18, 2024. On the first day of the Republican National Convention (15 July 2024), former President Trump (Trump) officially announced Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate.

On Saturday, Trump suffered an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The 39-year-old Vance is considered by the outside world to be most ideologically consistent with Trump.

Just hours after Trump named Vance as his 2024 presidential running mate, former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy expressed support for the decision.

Ramaswamy told NewsNation at the Republican National Convention: "Not only does he (Vance) truly live the American dream, but he truly cares about serving the public... He is one of the few people who is living the American dream for the right reasons. one of the people.

Ramaswamy and Vance are alumni of Yale Law School. The two attended Cincinnati Bengals football games together during law school, and he said he saw how serious Vance was about politics: "I've known him for over a decade." "The reason he got involved was part of it is that he cares deeply about the United States of America and our own citizens."

Spent childhood in poverty

Vance described the tragedy and rebirth of a white American family in his 2016 best-selling memoir "Hillbilly Elegy." Including his childhood spent in poverty. Vance's mother struggled with drug addiction, so he spent his formative years with his grandmother, whom he calls Grandma.

Vance says on his campaign website that he is from Middletown, Ohio, a once prosperous American manufacturing town where Ohioans could live a contented, middle-class life on a single income. But over time, he witnessed the town's gradual decline. Jobs and economic opportunities slowly disappear, leaving family, friends and neighbors with nothing.

He said that factors of unrest are often seen at home and at school. Vance's father ran away from home when he was very young. His mother struggled with drug addiction her entire life. His grandmother, whom Vance called Grandma, was his support. Her tough love and discipline kept him on the straight and narrow.

Grandma taught him the importance of being grounded in faith and family, and the promise of a better life.

Vance went on to serve the United States in the Iraq War as a Marine, graduated from Ohio State University, received a law degree from Yale Law School, and became a successful investor in Silicon Valley. His best-selling book "Hillbilly Elegy" was adapted into a movie on Netflix.

Following the success of his book, Vance became a prominent commentator in the media who vigorously defended the American working class. He said he has seen too many lives destroyed by job losses, drug addiction and economic instability.

In 2017, Vance moved back to Ohio to start a business in Cincinnati focused on growth companies that create high-paying jobs. Vance said his business experience tells him that many U.S. companies struggle with unfair competition from CCP China and that the U.S. government tends to reward multinational technology companies over small Ohio businesses.

Vance’s wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, is also a lawyer. She was born in San Diego, California, to Indian immigrant parents. The two met at Yale University and married and had three children.

Enter politics and have similar ideas to Trump

Vance launched his first political campaign for the Ohio U.S. Senate in 2021 and won the Republican nomination after receiving Trump's support. Prior to this, he had no political experience.

Vance is elected to the U.S. Senate in 2022.

On 31 January 2023, Vance supported former President Trump in the 2024 Republican presidential primary. Then he became a staunch Trump supporter.

On policy, Vance supports trade tariffs and opposes U.S. intervention in foreign conflicts, particularly the war between Russia and Ukraine. He also spoke out against the possibility of cutting Social Security.

During his 2021 Senate campaign, Vance has consistently expressed his opposition to the United States' reliance on Chinese industry and called on the U.S. government to support the return of manufacturing jobs. He supports the bipartisan CHIP and Science Act, which provides billions of dollars in subsidies for semiconductor manufacturing.

Vance is considered a conservative. In a 2022 report in The Daily Telegraph, Vance said, "As a senator, I will work with anyone to make sure we stop Communist China from buying American farmland." As Ohio residents face rising food prices, communist China is aggressively buying up vast tracts of U.S. farmland.”

According to the report, Chinese investors purchased US$6.1 billion of U.S. land in 2021, and by the end of 2020, Chinese investors controlled 352,140 acres of US farmland.

Vance has introduced a bill in the Senate that would restrict the Chinese Communist government's access to U.S. capital markets and exchanges, citing the Chinese Communist Party's long history of currency manipulation and refusal to pay interest to U.S. bondholders.

Representative Andy Ogles of Tennessee subsequently introduced a supporting bill in the House of Representatives, accusing the CCP of failing to comply with international financial, trade and commercial laws. "I am honored to work with Senator J.D. Vance on this critical step to hold China accountable," Ogus said.

Attracting blue-collar votes in swing states

Vance often mentioned the "Rust Belt" during the campaign and supported Trump's policy of reshoring American manufacturing. The "Rust Belt" refers to the northeastern and midwestern regions of the United States, mainly including Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, etc. Since the mid-20th century, with the decline of the coal and steel industries, a large number of factories have been shut down, workers have become unemployed, the crime rate has increased, population has been lost, and the city has declined. This area has lost its prosperity and is "rusty."

Working-class people are the bedrock of key battleground states like Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Vance's advantage from Ohio may help Republicans win elections in several key battleground states.

"I'm amazed at his career," said Alex Triantafilou, chairman of the Ohio Republican Party from southwestern Ohio. "It's a great thing for the Republican Party. This is a great thing for Ohio State."

After a breakfast meeting with the Republican delegation on Monday morning, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said choosing Vance as Trump's running mate would be good for the state.

"I think he's strong," Mr. Yost said. "This is a fearless leader. I love his backstory. Literally he had nothing in the mountains of Kentucky, and he had nothing in Middletown. Growing up. ⋯⋯I think it’s very useful for a leader to have the experience that most Americans have ⋯⋯He went to an Ivy League school, but he wasn’t born into a wealthy family.”

New insights gained from an assassination? Trump praises Biden for uniting the country

People often say that in the face of life and death, everything is trivial. This past weekend, former US President Trump experienced just this. This changed him a lot.

Trump looked alternately grateful and defiant on Monday on a private plane bound for the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin. He recalled his harrowing moment at the Pennsylvania rally, a "very surreal experience" in which he told the New York Post "I should have died."

"The doctor at the hospital said he had never seen anything like this, and he called it a miracle," Trump said, wearing a large, loose white bandage around his right ear. His staff insisted that reporters not be allowed to take photos, so we could not see them.

"I shouldn't be here, I should be dead," Trump said. "I should be dead."

Trump said he would be dead if he hadn't turned slightly to the right and read a chart about illegal immigration. At the moment he turned his head, a fatal shot tore off a small piece of his ear, and blood spattered on his forehead and cheeks.

Trump was surprised because the agents jumped at him like football linebackers and pinned him to the ground, injuring him slightly. He unbuttoned his long-sleeved white shirt, revealing a large bruise on his right forearm.

Trump said he still wanted to continue talking to supporters as Secret Service agents took him off the stage, but they told him it was unsafe and they had to take him to a hospital.

He praised the heroic actions of the Secret Service and credited them with killing the gunman, who was lying on the roof about 130 yards from Trump's podium.

"They shot him between the eyes and knocked him down," Trump said, pointing to the bridge of his nose. "They did a great job." "It's surreal for all of us. "

Trump also mentioned the photo that took the world by storm. As agents tried to get him off the stage and into an armored SUV, he raised his fists and said "fight" three times.

"A lot of people say it's the most iconic photo they've ever seen," Trump said. "They're right, I'm not dead. Usually you have to die to have an iconic photo. "I just tried to keep talking, I was shot."

Trump recalled that doctors at a local hospital with a trauma center told him that he had never seen anyone survive being hit by an AR-15.

Trump also told reporters he was preparing to attend the funeral of Corey Comperatore, a volunteer fire captain in the town who lost his life trying to protect his family when a gunman opened fire.

On Sunday, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said, "During last night's rally, Corey jumped on his family to protect them." He said he had directed local flags to be flown at half-staff to honor Compellato.

The Trump team authorized the setting up of a donation page for shooting victims, and has so far received more than $4.3 million in donations.

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) spent much of the flight talking to Trump and found his optimism "incredible." "He felt like he had a new lease on life," Graham said.

Trump, who has gone through the test of life and death and had a brush with death, has indeed changed his mind.

"I had prepared a really tough speech, a really good speech, about corruption, terrible government," he said, "but I threw it away."

Trump said he was working on a new speech because "I want to work hard to unite our country." He crossed his arms and added, "But I don't know if that's possible. People are very divided."

He also said he thanked President Biden for the call, saying it was "very nice" and that Biden was "very nice." He said campaigning between them could be more civilized from now on, without providing specifics.

Trump also said "we heard" that Biden would order the Justice Department to drop two indictments against Trump. However, there is no public indication of this so far.

On Monday, Florida Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the lawsuit in the Trump confidential documents case. She issued a 93-page opinion arguing that the Justice Department violated the Constitution by appointing special prosecutor Jack Smith to oversee the case.

Some legal experts said it was a "well-reasoned" opinion that eliminated the "biggest legal threat" to the 2024 Republican Party ahead of the Republican National Convention. However, opponents also believe that this breaks the judicial practice that has lasted for more than 30 years. The Justice Department is expected to appeal.

Jonathan Turley, a defense attorney and law professor at George Washington University, told Fox News on Monday, "Of all the cases that could be dismissed, this is going to be the top priority. That's the biggest threat. Right now. At least, it's gone."

The running mate is finalized! J.D. Vance becomes Trump’s new “apprentice”

In the afternoon of 15 July 2024, Trump revealed his vice presidential candidate, 39-year-old U.S. Senator J.D. Vance.

Vance was once one of Trump's fiercest critics. In 2016, he said he would "never support Trump" and asked whether Trump was "the American Hitler." He began to change my views in 2018, supported Trump in 2020, and apologized for his previous criticisms. In 2021, with the support of Trump, he began to run for the Senate. As a political amateur, he was successfully elected.

On "Truth Social," Trump explained why he chose Vance:

"After long deliberation and reflection, and taking into account the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the most qualified person to serve in the office of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio. J.D. served our nation honorably in the Marine Corps National service, graduating magna cum laude from Ohio State two years later, a graduate of Yale Law School, serving as editor of the Yale Law Journal and president of the Yale Law Veterans Association, J.D.'s book "Hillbilly Elegy" became a major best-selling book and movie because it supports the hard-working men and women of our country. J.D. has had a very successful business career in technology and finance, and now, during his campaign, he will focus on the people he fights for, Pennsylvania, American workers and farmers in Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota and the United States.”

This choice is very dramatic, because before, Trump's running mate selection was like a marathon, and it was like Trump's famous TV show "The Apprentice" (The Apprentice), with its ups and downs. Many people once thought that Trump would choose a woman and a minority, but recently, there are only three popular candidates for his vice presidential candidate, including:

JD Vance. He was a political amateur before. Since 2022, he has been elected as the Ohio Senator with the support of Trump. In less than two years, he has become the leader of the MAGA movement. Vance's rise is attributed to his ability to summarize theories and innovate. He combined Trump's relatively scattered ideas into some principles of the neoconservative movement. He is often called "national conservatives" or "new right" and supports strict borders, tariffs, strong state intervention in the economy and modest withdrawal from the world stage.

The other candidate is Doug Burgum, governor of North Dakota. He has served as Trump's partner on the campaign trail in the past and as a Trump surrogate on television and at lavish dinners. After he endorsed Trump in January this year, Trump described him as "the most reliable person, hands down." Burgum, 67, is a billionaire entrepreneur who founded his own software company and served as vice president of Microsoft Group.

There is also a vice presidential candidate, the famous federal senator Marco Rubio, who is very familiar to our Chinese audience. He is the son of a Cuban immigrant. He is a staunch anti-communist fighter and has been sanctioned many times by the Chinese Communist Party. Rubio also has the advantage of being charismatic, fluent in Spanish and English, and able to appeal to working-class and professional sector voters, including tens of millions of Hispanic voters. Trump and Rubio, who have been close during Trump's presidency, served as informal advisers on Latin America policy and worked with Ivanka to expand the child tax credit.

Stephen Miller, the hawkish architect of Trump's border policy and one-time Rubio critic, called the senator "one of the deepest, most insightful and most gifted thinkers on our political issues." one".

So why did Trump ultimately choose Vance? In my opinion, there are four reasons:

The first reason is that Vance is a successful representative and spokesperson for people in key swing states and the Rust Belt. We know that swing states are the most fiercely contested places in the US presidential election. In 2016, Trump won the Rust Belt, but Biden won in 2020. Since last year, although Trump generally has an advantage in each state, it is not obvious.

Vance can help Trump in this regard. Because Vance grew up in Center Town in southern Ohio, a poor town in the vast "Rust Belt", he witnessed the severe blow that the American economic depression had on the working class. In the autobiographical novel Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis, also known as Hillbilly Elegy, Vance tells his story, Parents are divorced, and mothers are addicted to drugs and domestic violence after divorce. At the same time, although the poorly educated grandparents are grumpy and vulgar, their love for their grandson allows Vance to stay in the family storm and retain a glimmer of hope for the future. Finally, he joined the army, went to college, graduated from Yale University, and became the executive director of the venture capital fund company of Peter Thiel, the legendary Silicon Valley entrepreneur and founder of PayPal. Then, enter politics.

Moreover, his book is not only a success story, otherwise it would be a mediocre work, but more importantly, he explores family, values, and why these people turned from staunch supporters of the Democratic Party to become staunch supporters of the Democratic Party. Republican supporters, and more important stuff. Therefore, as soon as the book was published in 2016, it became the number one bestseller in the New York Times and was hailed as "one of the six most important books for understanding the Trump phenomenon." In 2020, this book was made into a movie and released on Netflix.

The second and third reasons why Trump chose Vance are that Vance has grown from an amateur to a leader in Trump's "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) movement. At the same time, he is also an intermediary for Trump to break into traditional Democratic positions in Silicon Valley, business circles and political circles.

One evening in June, a group of billionaires sat down at a swanky mansion in San Francisco. Guests enjoyed canapés ranging from waffle-like potato chips dotted with caviar to hamburgers draped with American flags. At the beginning of the banquet, a young senator with a beard quieted everyone down and introduced his friend, former President Donald Trump.

These Silicon Valley bosses have only recently begun to deal with Trump, including the owner of the mansion and the party, David Sacks, a venture capitalist and podcaster who supported Hillary Clinton in 2016 ‧Clinton did not support any candidate in the 2020 election. Many of the other guests were current or former Democrats but as Trump said in his opening remarks, they all came together that night because of Vance.

This donation event helped Trump raise $12 million. Omeed Malik, founder and president of venture capital firm 1789 Capital, said: "I don't think there is a candidate who is as comfortable as Vance in both the technology industry and the venture capital world, while also being able to relate to working-class Americans. "

Some of the most influential people in Trump's "Make America Great Again" MAGA circle lobbied Trump to choose Vance as his partner, including the above-mentioned right-wing podcaster David Sacks, and Stephen who is still in federal prison, ‧ Steve Bannon, Charlie Kirk of the social group Turning Point USA, and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. Carlson said choosing Vance as his partner would "demonstrate Trump's commitment to his voters," whom he said has a good understanding of their views. "Clearly, the leadership of the contemporary Republican Party is incapable of doing its most basic job, which is to represent their constituents. If they can't even do that, they are useless and will die."

Vance also had a knack for dealing with some of the leaders on the left. His criticism of the impact of modern capitalism is consistent with that of some liberals. He praised Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Lina Khan, who has become a thorn in Wall Street's side because of her continued opposition to corporate mergers. After the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank in March 2023, Vance also worked with Massachusetts Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren to develop draft legislation in an attempt to recover the failed bank's debt and executive salaries.

This communication ability can help Trump win more middle voters and reduce the difficulty of cooperation between the two parties when he is in power in the future.

Vance may also be helpful in uniting Chinese Americans. His spiritual godmother is Amy Chua, his professor at Yale University and the author of "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother."

The fourth reason why Vance was selected is that he is studious and insightful, and will be a good "apprentice" for Trump. His age is one of his strengths, and his ability to learn quickly is outstanding.

Vance's transformation from a tough opponent of Trump to a fervent supporter has attracted much attention. Vance himself described it as "taking the red pill." This metaphor refers to suddenly discovering the other side of the real world. But people who have known Vance for a long time say his political leanings were basically consistent throughout. More than a decade ago, Vance was a lawyer in Washington, D.C., involved with a group of conservative reformers and an occasional contributor to the National Review. "I can say this, Vance has always been more of a populist than most of us," said Yuval Levin, a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. Levin also said, "Vance is interested in how to make the right more concerned about ordinary people." Working-class families.”

Vance also has deep insights, said Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, who has personal experience with the hollowing out of central America that has led many conservatives to reevaluate their priorities.

“The decline of universities, the attacks on the courts, gender ideology, he talked about a lot of these things before they became mainstream,” said an Ohio Republican who knew Vance. “I thought it was crazy at first. But he did accurately grasp the pulse of the times.”

Vance is also as belligerent as Trump and likes to take on new challenges. This characteristic was vividly demonstrated in his first campaign advertisement. According to Vance's advisers, he wrote the ad himself. "Are you a racist? Do you hate Mexicans?" Vance asks in the ad. "Just because we want to build the wall that Trump advocates, the media calls us racists." The text on the screen calls him an "America First Conservative."

In the current situation where Trump may be personally attacked, many Trump supporters suggest that Trump should find a successor to his ideas. This will be a huge security guarantee for the Republican Party and Trump himself.

Some time ago, Corker, the chairman of "American Turning Point", said that Vance, like Trump, is a traitor to his own class. He was once welcomed by elite society, but later turned his back on elite society. "Choosing Vance will send a signal to the neoconservatives in Washington that the era of endless wars is coming to an end," he said. "You can no longer use the vice president to do anything behind my back, because his worldview is the same as Trump's."

Of course, everything has pros and cons. Vance's youth, lack of political experience, unfamiliarity with international affairs, and over-extremism on the Ukraine issue (refuse to continue to provide support to Ukraine) are also his weaknesses. What impact will these have? We will continue to observe.

Articles related to Trump’s assassination on Mainland Weibo have been read nearly 1 billion times

Trump’s assassination shocked the world. On the Chinese social platform Weibo, the entry has been read more than 300 million times. Analysts believe that Trump (Trump) suddenly provided some free space for China’s Internet, drawing attention to the CCP’s internal problems.

Early in the morning on the 14th (Sunday) Beijing time, “Trump was shot” became a hotly searched term on Weibo.

As of noon on Sunday, on Weibo, the entry "Trump was shot" had been read more than 300 million times, making it the "hot word" that firmly topped the list of hot searches. By the evening of that day, the topic "Trump said his right ear was shot through by a bullet" had reached 660 million views and 153,000 discussions, ranking first on the hot search list for more than 12 hours.

Voice of America reported that half of the top 20 hot searches were related to this matter, and at one time there were as many as 10. Real-time updated scene scenarios such as "Trump was shot through the right ear by a bullet", "One person died at the scene" and "The shooting suspect was killed", as well as U.S. President Joe Biden's response to the matter , have also attracted great attention from netizens.

Biden delivered brief remarks at the White House on Sunday, accompanied by Vice President Harris, Attorney General Merrick Garland and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. In his speech, he confirmed that he had a "brief but good" conversation with Trump after the shooting.

Biden condemned the assassination attempt on Trump and said such violence had no place in the United States. "We cannot allow this to happen. Unity is the most elusive goal, but nothing is more important right now."

In contrast, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China only briefly confirmed that party leader Xi Jinping had expressed condolences to Trump in the form of "answering reporters' questions" as late as Sunday afternoon. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that "China is concerned about the shooting incident of former President Trump, and President Xi Jinping has expressed condolences to former President Trump."

Was the shooting "self-directed and staged"? Analysis: The CCP has too many "fake shows"

On Sunday morning, the FBI named 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks as the shooter, and bomb-making materials were also found during a search of Crooks' car and home. Crooks' reasons for trying to kill Trump also remain a mystery.

The Chinese Communist Party’s official Xinhua News Agency, CCTV and many major news media reported the shooting at considerable length. In particular, the plot of the entire incident, whether it involved "self-directed and self-acted" and the impact the incident will have on Trump's election are the main topics of concern for Chinese public opinion.

The phrase "self-directed and self-acted" was interpreted by netizens in the comment area as "military experts suspect that it was self-directed and self-acted." Others echoed that "it has been practiced hundreds of times." However, this kind of conspiracy theory speculation has been refuted by more bloggers and netizens. They believe that Trump’s ear injury was just a few centimeters away from being shot in the brain. In addition, there were also supporters killed and injured at the scene, so it is unlikely to be a gunshot wound. Directed and acted.

He Yue, a member of the British Journalists Guild in North Somerset, England, pointed out that Chinese netizens are keen to talk about Trump's shooting. In fact, it reflects that they are usually controlled by speech and cannot touch politics. Only negative topics about democratic politics in the United States appear. Only then does the state of "talking big and no one care" emerge.

He Yue told VOA: "(Because) Chinese netizens really can't talk about Chinese politics, so when they talk about other people's politics (shootings), they seem to find a place to vent. The most heated discussion is, is this a tactic? Who knows? Director? Because the Chinese have lived in the realm of fake things for too long, and they use this kind of thinking to judge foreigners."

Let netizens enjoy an "online holiday" and facilitate official transfer of internal issues

"Beijing Spring" honorary editor-in-chief Hu Ping told Radio Free Asia that China is in the tense period of convening the Third Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It relaxed Internet controls on the Trump incident and allowed netizens to enjoy freedom of speech because it relaxed speech on the incident. The benefits to the authorities outweigh the disadvantages.

Hu Ping said: "This topic is already very hot and not easy to control. It has no direct bearing on the CCP's so-called political security, so he thinks it doesn't matter if he lets it go. In addition, it is also good for him. Everyone goes." If you speculate on this issue, you will say less about China's own problems, such as coal-to-liquid problems, flood problems, and the Third Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

"He can also take advantage of and divert some of the Chinese people's attention from China's own problems. Why not do it? The authorities have given you a controlled holiday and an online holiday."

Hu Ping believes that this Internet holiday is only short-lived, and the focus of public opinion will soon return to the Third Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

楊威:川普遭槍擊 中南海的反應很另類

After the attempted assassination of former U.S. President Trump (Trump) on 13 July 2024, all walks of life in the United States unanimously condemned the assassination or similar political violence; politicians from various countries also quickly took action Same reaction. Zhongnanhai had to express "concern" about this; but it only expressed "sympathies" but did not condemn the violence. The CCP is filled with life-and-death political violence and is probably used to it. Its alternative reactions have once again become prominent internationally. This may also reflect Zhongnanhai's disappointment with the outcome of the incident.

The CCP only expressed "sympathies" but did not condemn the violence

In the afternoon of 14 July 2024, the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China published a message "The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs answered reporters' questions on the shooting of former US President Trump."

The question is: Former US President Trump was shot during a campaign rally. What is China’s comment on this?

The answer is just one sentence: China is concerned about the shooting incident of former President Trump, and President Xi Jinping has expressed condolences to former President Trump.

At the press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China on July 15, a reporter asked: How did Xi Jinping express condolences to Trump? Is it by phone call, email or embassy? China is concerned about the shooting incident of former President Trump. What is China’s concern?

Spokesperson Lin Jian only said, "I have released information on this, and I have nothing new to add to this."

Trump's assassination was a sensational event in the United States and around the world. Politicians from various countries quickly made public statements. First of all, they wished Trump and the victims safety, and secondly, they condemned political violence. Any normal person paying attention to this matter, whether for or against Trump, should have a similar reaction. However, Zhongnanhai's approach is obviously different from that of politicians from various countries. It only expressed "condolences" through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, but did not condemn the assassination and political violence.

When a reporter asked how the CCP would "sympathize" with Trump, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the CCP refused to answer. The leader of the CCP himself did not issue a public statement, which not only raised questions.

How heads of state responded quickly

I pray for him and his family and everyone who participated in the rally, and I await further information." The statement also said, "This kind of Violence has no place in America. We must come together as a country and condemn this violence. "We cannot allow this to happen."

U.S. Vice President Harris also issued a statement, saying: "We are praying for him, his family, and all innocent people injured and affected by shootings." "This kind of violence has no place in our country. We must work together to condemn this abhorrent behavior and do our part to ensure it does not lead to more violence."

U.S. Secretary of State Blinken, Secretary of Defense Austin, Attorney General Garland, former Presidents Bush and Obama, and members of Congress from both parties have all issued similar statements. Heads of state responded equally quickly.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said, "We must resolutely fight against violence that challenges democracy and pray for former President Trump's speedy recovery."

The new British Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke with Trump in Mandarin and issued a statement saying, "There is no place in our society for political violence of any kind."

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador stated that "such violence is irrational and inhumane."

German Chancellor Scholz issued a statement saying, "The attack on US presidential candidate Trump is despicable. I wish him a speedy recovery. My heart goes out to those affected by this attack."

French President Macron wished Trump a speedy recovery and said "France shares the shock and outrage of the American people."

Honduran President Xiomara Castro de Zelaya said: "Violence begets more violence. I regret what happened during the election process in the United States and (I) stand united with President Trump."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: "Sarah and I are shocked by the apparent attack on President Trump. We pray for his safety and speedy recovery."

Hungarian Prime Minister Orban, who just visited Beijing recently, said, "My thoughts and prayers are with President Trump in this dark moment."

Republic of China (Taiwan) President Lai Ching-te said in a statement, "I pray for former U.S. President Trump and wish him a speedy recovery. Any form of political violence is unacceptable in our democracy. I express my sincere condolences to the victims affected by the attack .

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated in a statement, "Political violence is absolutely unacceptable and this cannot be emphasized enough. My heart goes out to former President Trump, those who attended the event, and all Americans."

Canadian Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said in a statement: "I condemn in the strongest possible terms today's attempted murder of former President Trump. I am relieved that he is safe. This act was heinous. I pray for the other innocent people who were injured or killed, and I am glad that the shooting suspect is dead."

Canada's New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh said in a statement: "Violence has no place in any political activity. Wherever political violence occurs, we must unite to oppose it. My heart goes out to former President Trump and his family, and The other victims of the shooting were together."

Australian Prime Minister Albanese wrote in an article, "In Australia, as in the United States, the essence and purpose of a democracy is to express our views, debate our differences, and resolve them peacefully. And this is done out of mutuality "Violence of any kind is an affront to democracy and an inexcusable attack on the democratic values that Australians and Americans share and the freedoms we hold dear." It must be "condemned unequivocally".

In contrast to these statements, Zhongnanhai only vaguely "sympathized" with Trump but did not condemn the violence.

What is Zhongnanhai "paying attention to"?

The brief message posted on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China only expressed "sympathies" to Trump, and also stated that "China is concerned about the shooting incident of former President Trump (Trump)." When a reporter asked, "What is China's concern?" The CCP The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs evaded it.

The CCP's one-sentence statement was a "gaffe" or "superfluous"; the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must be afraid of another "gaffe" and simply did not dare to speak. Not only does this seem more unusual, it also naturally makes the outside world suspicious.

Zhongnanhai said it was "concerned" about Trump's shooting, but refused to disclose what it was "concerned about"; at the same time, it only expressed "sympathies" but did not condemn political violence. Could it be that Zhongnanhai was disappointed with the outcome of the assassination? Or are you disappointed that there is no chaos in American society?

The CCP’s actions show that Zhongnanhai does not believe that the assassination is wrong and should be condemned. In other words, the CCP probably hopes that this incident will cause greater harm and chaos to American society, so it is so "concerned" that it does not realize that it has accidentally "gaffeed".

Xinhua News Agency's report also confirmed what Zhongnanhai is really "concerned about." After Trump was assassinated, Xinhua News Agency quickly published at least five reports, including "Trump suffered an "attempted assassination"", "Trump's right ear was injured by a bullet during a shooting at a campaign rally", "The White House said Biden and Trump "Long Pu Mandarin" "A gunman was killed in a shooting incident at a Trump campaign rally" "FBI: The gunman who attacked Trump committed the crime alone".

But Xinhua News Agency is "concerned" about more than just the assassination. On July 13, Xinhua News Agency also published an article "Refuse to withdraw from the election: Can Biden dispel doubts within the party?" The article quoted someone's comment as saying, "If the Democratic presidential candidate is still Biden, the party will not only lose the White House, but may also suffer heavy losses in the elections for the House and Senate."

The CCP has repeatedly claimed that it does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries and refuses to admit interference in foreign elections. However, Xinhua News Agency is very concerned about the US election and makes arbitrary comments and trends in order to prevent chaos in the world. Biden has just united NATO allies to express a tough stance against the CCP and is preparing to take concerted action. This NATO summit was held in the United States, and the United States continues to play a leading role. However, Zhongnanhai has so far lacked an effective response to the Biden administration, and does not dare to directly abuse the White House. It can only continue to impose symbolic sanctions on U.S. military industrial companies, and Xinhua News Agency can only do so in disguise. Take your anger out on Biden.

On 9 July 2024, Xinhua News Agency reported "White House Spokesperson: Biden has not received treatment for Parkinson's disease." On June 29, Xinhua News Agency also published an article "Special Article | Empire's "Fashionable Robe" - The Truth About "American Democracy"". The article stated, "The United States is not a democracy."

The article further analyzed: Faced with many problems, "Can the U.S. government produced by the 'American democracy' system come up with effective solutions? More and more people believe that the answer is no... The root of the problem lies in" The anti-democratic nature of American democracy.”

After Trump’s assassination, it’s probably self-evident what Zhongnanhai is really “concerned about”: it is hoping that the United States will be in internal chaos and even bring about international political instability, so that the CCP can take the opportunity to unwind, or even turn its defense into an offense.

The CCP’s dismay over the assassination

After Trump was assassinated, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China hastily issued a statement and then remained silent. It is likely that because it did not see the expected chaos in the United States or the international chaos, it was disappointed and did not know how to react for a while, and failed to realize it. Political violence was never condemned.

The response from all walks of life in the United States is generally to reject violence and chaos, and to conduct in-depth reflection. Some people have publicly called on them to stop using violent or seriously irritating language. The international community also calls for peaceful and non-violent resolution of political differences and letting votes speak for themselves. Such a normal reaction is probably incomprehensible to Zhongnanhai, because the political struggle of the CCP is exactly the opposite.

In the past 12 years, the CCP's factional strife has reached a peak. Jiang and Zeng's factions have been almost eliminated. Some influential people on and off stage have basically become prisoners, and some have been reported to have committed suicide. After the Jiang and Zeng factions were largely disintegrated, the Tuan faction became a new purge target at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2022. Former CCP leader Hu Jintao was removed from the venue; in 2023, former CCP Premier Li Keqiang died suddenly and inexplicably a few months after leaving office. The evil Chinese Communist Party, which is engaged in constant bloody political struggles, should not be surprised by Trump's assassination. Instead, it is more likely that it will be surprised that Trump survived the assassination. In its disappointment, it forgot to condemn political violence, even if it was only hypocritically.

Starting from 2023, new internal strife in the CCP will come quickly. Qin Gang and Li Shangfu disappeared as soon as they said they would disappear. Zhongnanhai may not think it is a big deal, and never thought that this could be considered political violence. The Politburo first notified Li Shangfu and Wei Fenghe's issues and then sent them to the judiciary. Zhongnanhai never thought about whether they were illegal or not; they focused more on how to further dig out the remnants of the party while trying to hide them from others.

The shooting of a presidential candidate in the United States did not lead to greater chaos. Instead, American society called for unity. This should be inconceivable to the Chinese Communist Party, which cannot understand American democracy. Because of this, it has been difficult for the CCP to realize how unconventional its response is internationally. Because of this, Zhongnanhai may not understand why it went downhill so quickly, let alone why the Red Dynasty is coming to an end.

What are the key unanswered questions and implications of Trump’s assassination?

川普遇刺事件有何關鍵未解問題和影響
The attempted assassination of former U.S. President Trump shocked the United States and the world, and also changed the story of what will happen in July. The political atmosphere at the Republican National Convention held from the 15th to the 18th. The thrilling moment when Trump was lucky enough to escape assassination on 13 July 2024 is more likely to become a key turning point in the 2024 US election.

As the FBI, Secret Service and Trump campaign try to figure out what happened and why, a deluge of false information is spreading on social media. Before and after Trump's assassination, some key issues still need to be further clarified, and the assassination itself will undoubtedly have some impact on the 2024 election.

How did the gunman get so close to Trump to kill him?

The FBI confirmed on July 14 (Sunday) that the gunman who tried to assassinate Trump was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. residents of Bethel Park, an upper-middle-class suburb near Pittsburgh, only about an hour's drive from Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump held a rally on Saturday the 13th.

The New York Times reported that Crooks worked as a dietary aide at the Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bethel Park and had no criminal record.

The U.S. Secret Service is investigating how Crooks was able to carry an AR-style rifle at such a close range and attempt to shoot former President Trump, the Associated Press reported. Moments of sexual failure.

The Associated Press analyzed more than a dozen videos and photos taken from the Trump rally as well as satellite images of the scene and found that the gunman Crooks surprisingly climbed to the roof, very close to the stage where Trump was speaking. He was wearing a Gray T-shirt with a black American flag on his right arm.

The rooftop where Crooks was shooting was less than 150 meters (164 yards) from where Trump was speaking, a distance within which a trained shooter could reasonably hit a human-sized target. For reference, U.S. Army recruits must be able to hit a life-size silhouette at a distance of 150 meters before they can use an M16 assault rifle in subsequent basic training. The AR-style rifle used by Crooks is a semi-automatic civilian version of the military M16.

At the Butler rally, less than 10 minutes into Trump's speech, he suddenly turned his head and heard a series of gunshots. A bullet whizzed past the upper edge of his right shoulder. Many people thought it was just With a difference of just one millimeter, this bullet would pose a fatal risk to Trump.

Trump touched his right ear and then quickly squatted down. At this time, Secret Service agents rushed to the podium to protect Trump. When the danger passed, Trump stood up again, with blood on his right ear and right face. He waved his fist at the crowd and shouted "Fight." After seeing that Trump was safe, the crowd at the rally immediately burst into cheers.

An Associated Press photographer captured the moment Trump pumped his fist in the air with the American flag flying in the sky behind him. The freeze-frame photo of this moment quickly circulated widely on the Internet and became an iconic photo with historical significance. .

After a failed attempt to assassinate Trump, Crooks was shot dead on the spot by a Secret Service sniper. Explosives, including improvised explosive devices, were also found in the car driven by Crooks near the rally site. In addition, bomb-making materials were found in Crooks' home.

The FBI is also investigating Crooks' personal information and his motives for the assassination. Investigators are reviewing Crooks' posts on Discord, a popular social media app for sharing information and interacting with others.

Crooks is registered as a Republican but appears to be dissatisfied with Trump, and according to public records, he donated $15 to the Democratic-aligned Progressive Voting Project. Crooks' parents are believed to be registered Democrats.

Several former senior Secret Service agents told The Associated Press that Crooks should not have been allowed near the building and onto the roof, and that the Secret Service must figure out how this happened. They believe the lapse may have been caused by negligence on the part of Secret Service officers or a defective security plan for the event.

Stephen Colo, a 27-year Secret Service veteran who retired as assistant director in 2003, said the Secret Service "had to go through security plans and interview many people from the director down. ” to find out where the mistakes were.

Former agent Timothy McCarthy, who retired from the Secret Service in 1994, said the Secret Service "better get down to the bottom of what happened there and do whatever we can to find out" because the gunman should not have occupied that place. It is a favorable shooting position.

McCarthy, 75, asked: "How did that man get up that building?"

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, a Kentucky Republican, said he contacted the Secret Service for a briefing and asked Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to attend the inquiry hearing.

"All forms of political violence are un-American and unacceptable," Cuomo said in a statement. "There are many questions and Americans need answers."

Rep. Ritchie Torres, D-N.Y., called for an investigation into "security failures" at the rally.

"The federal government must continue to learn from security failures to avoid repeating them, especially when those failures have national consequences," Torres said.

Attorney General Merrick Garland said the Justice Department "will use all available resources to investigate."

"My heart goes out to the former President (Trump), those injured, and the families of the spectators who lost their lives in this horrific attack," Garland said in a statement. "We will not tolerate violence of any kind. Violence is an attack on our democracy."

How the assassination affected the Republican National Convention

The Republican National Convention (RNC), held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from 15 to 18 July 2024, was not expected to make any big waves. The convention was expected to formally nominate former President Trump without any suspense. The Republican 2024 presidential nominee. The biggest question mark about this RNC is how and when Trump will announce who his vice presidential running mate will be.

However after Trump was injured in the assassination, the atmosphere and some content at the conference may change. Trump has said he has rewritten his final speech on the final day of the RNC to focus more on calling for unity across the country.

"The speech I'm going to give on Thursday (18 July  2024) is going to be great," Trump said in an interview with the Washington Examiner.

According to the report, Trump also said: "If this (assassination) had not happened, this would be one of the most unbelievable speeches. Honestly, it would be a completely different speech now."

Trump said the original speech, intended to energize his base and focus on President Joe Biden's policies, would now focus on the attempted assassination of Butler that interrupted a campaign rally.

"This is an opportunity to bring the country, and indeed the world, together. This speech will be very different from (the version) two days ago, very different," he said.

Representative Nancy Mace, who plans to speak at the convention on Wednesday (17 July) evening, said in an interview on NewsNation on the 14th: "We should have a tone of unity. I think this will happen naturally. "We will send a message of unity, not just for the Republican Party, but for the hurting nation to have time to heal in the coming weeks and months."

Republicans have further united around Trump after Saturday's assassination attempt. Reince Priebus, chairman of the convention host committee, said on ABC on Sunday (14th): "I think the firmness he (Trump) brings to Milwaukee now will To further motivate this group of people.”

Trump arrived in Milwaukee on Sunday (14th) to attend the convention. RNC officials said Sunday that they will hold the convention as scheduled given their extensive planning over the past year and a half. About 2,400 Republican national delegates are expected to attend the convention.

In a statement on the 14th, Trump said: "I cannot allow 'assassins' or potential assassins to force changes to the (RNC) schedule or anything else."

Security at the convention is expected to be stepped up. Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, a Democrat, called for a ban on guns within the convention's "soft borders" on Sunday (14th) and urged other officials to take extra steps to protect attendees.

Evers also posted on the X platform: "We cannot be a country that accepts political violence of any kind - it is not who we are as Americans."

Taking Trump’s slogan of “Make America Great Again” as the overall program, each day of this year’s RNC conference has a different theme: Monday (15th) will focus on the economy, and Tuesday (16th) will focus on the economy. Regarding security and crime, the theme on Wednesday (17th) will be military strength and border security, and the theme on Thursday (18th) will focus extensively on Trump’s second term plan.

The debut of Trump's chosen running mate will remain one of the most watched moments of the convention. Originally scheduled to be announced on Wednesday, Trump announced on Monday that his vice presidential mate will be Ohio U.S. Senator J.D. Vance. JD Vance). Vance will deliver his speech as a vice presidential candidate.

How the assassination affects the campaign ahead of the 2024 election

While the two parties remain divisive and angry shortly after the assassination attempt, some political leaders on both sides believe it's time for that anger to cool down as the campaign enters its final months.

The Biden campaign pulled his digital campaign ads targeting Trump from the airwaves and halted Biden's campaign events and official travel plans.

Vice President Kamala Harris also postponed an upcoming campaign event in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump's stronghold. Harris was scheduled to discuss abortion rights there, and the event was announced just hours before Trump's rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday (13 July).

In addition, Biden canceled his trip to Texas, where he originally planned to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act. Now, Biden will be interviewed by NBC at the White House on Monday (15th), and then head to Las Vegas for a campaign event on Tuesday (16 July).

Biden and the Democratic National Committee (DCN) will "contrast" Biden's campaign agenda with that of Trump and the Republican Party this week, a Biden campaign official told POLITICO following an interview on Monday.

Senior Republican Senator Lindsey Graham also said in an interview with NBC on Sunday (14 July) that he did not want to blame the Democrats entirely for the attempted assassination of Trump, although some Democrats had criticized Trump. Trump’s offensive remarks may have affected the mood and behavior of some voters.

"We on our side are frustrated with the treatment of President Trump. But I'm grateful today that he's alive," Graham said.

“Today, let’s be grateful that our former president (Trump), a political candidate, survived an assassination attempt. Let’s try to do better here. I don’t want to go that route (hate each other) road."
