Former US President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris held the first presidential election debate in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the evening of 10 September 2024. After the debate, "Newsweek" invited many writers and commentators to comment on the performance of the debate, and all parties had different opinions.

Some critics believe that Kamala performed well and outperformed Trump. Journalist and author Mary Katharine Ham noted that Kamala successfully induced Trump to argue on issues that were unfavourable to him, such as abortion, his rallies and the January 6 attack on the Capitol. Trump, on the other hand, failed to effectively attack Kamala's liberal stance and shortcomings as a candidate for change, as well as areas that favoured him, such as immigration and the economy.

Patrick T. Brown, a researcher at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, also believed that Kamala was the winner. He said that she performed competently while Trump made some mistakes, such as defending himself in the January 6 incident, defending his actions, citing questionable memes, and revisiting the controversy surrounding the 2020 election.

Six-time Emmy Award-winning television producer Arick Wierson believes that Kamala is the only major candidate in this year's election who lives in "fact-based reality". He criticized Trump for his constant lies during the debate, such as claiming that illegal immigrants are eating Americans' pets and suggesting that Democrats support post-birth abortion (which is murder).

Writer Bethany Mandel analyzed the debate from the perspective of "atmosphere." She believed that Kamala gave people the impression of being sincere and heartfelt, while Trump showed erratic, incoherent and rude behavior, that are off-putting to swing voters.

Other commentators thought Trump performed better or that it was a tie. Paul du Quenoy, president of the Palm Beach Freedom Institute, believes that Trump not only defeated the vitriolic and insincere Kamala, but also defeated the biased ABC host. He believed that Trump remained clear and sincere for much of the debate, effectively defusing Kamala's cliche attacks, especially in his closing arguments, where he delivered his message directly to the American people.

Legal analyst Aron Solomon believed the debate was a draw, saying Kamala failed to deal any substantial blow to Trump while Trump successfully avoided her provocation.

Darvio Morrow, CEO of FCB Radio Network, also thought the debate was a tie. He said Kamala was more disciplined in the debate but lacked substanc, while Trump was aggressive but too focus more on defending himelf rather than actively attacking his opponent or expounding his own political views.

Independent journalist Michael Tracey also agreed that the debate result was a tie but he secretly criticized Kamala, saying that any candidate who seriously touted former Republican Vice President Chaney of the Bush era and endorsed his own candidate must be declared an automatic loser.

Daniel R. DePetris, a researcher at Defense Priorities, believes that as far as foreign policy is concerned, the result of the debate is a draw. He said Kamala did not specify how she would broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas but simply repeated that a ceasefire was needed, which was a completely inadequate and outdated answer. She vowed to continue supporting the Ukrainians seemingly indefinitely and repeated her fascination with NATO.

Petris believes Trump is no better, asserting that the October 7 attack by Hamas and Russia's invasion of Ukraine would not have happened if he were still in office, and once again claiming that he will soon through negotiating a settlement to the war in Ukraine. How to do it? He did not say. However, there is a clear loser: "the millions of Americans who are watching the debate and wondering who would be the better commander-in-chief."

"Newsweek" pointed out that in general, people from all walks of life have different opinions on the performance of Trump and Kamala in the first debate. Some commentators thought Kamala performed better than Trump, while others thought Trump performed better or that the two sides were tied. The outcome of the debate, as well as the subsequent public opinion response, will have a major impact on the direction of the U.S. presidential election.

Trump is firing on all cylinders! The first debate fiercely attacked Kamala's economic policies and criticized "plagiarizing Biden"

Former U.S. President Donald Trump and current Vice President Kamala Harris compete for the 2024 presidential election. The first TV debate broadcast begins at 9 pm Eastern Time on the 10th (9 am on the 11th Taiwan/Singapore Time). From the beginning, Trump launched a fierce offensive against economic policy, accusing Harris of lacking specific plans to deal with inflation and improve the U.S. economy.

During a discussion on the economy, Trump said: "She has no plan. She copied Joe Biden's plan, which is like 'Run, Spot, Run.' Reading just four sentences, like, 'Oh, we're going to try to lower taxes.' Look at her plan, she has no plan."

Harris retorted, "Trump has not made any plans for you. Look at his economic plans. They are all about cutting taxes for the richest people. What I propose is what I call an 'opportunity economy.' The world's best economists have examined our respective plans for America's future."

Trump also criticized the Biden administration's policy deficiencies and unfulfilled promises, emphasizing that these problems would not be solved if Harris was elected president. "We don't have to talk about it because she'll never be able to do it, just like she can't fix her student loans, they can't fix their student loans," he noted.

Trump continued, "They're making a mockery of young people and a lot of other people who have mortgages. They're never going to get this approved, so there's no point in her saying it's going to Congress. What a nice way to say it: Let's go to Congress and do it. ."

Regarding the issue of abortion, Trump said: "The fact is, they have been trying to remove abortion from Congress and the federal government for many years, and we have done what everyone said was impossible, and now people can have control over abortion. Vote on the issue.”

Trump also criticized Harris for her lack of policies, claiming she was becoming more like him on certain issues, while again accusing her of changing policies at will. "Everything she believed in three or four years ago is now behind her," he insists. "She is now moving towards my philosophy."

Trump quipped: "In fact, I was going to give her a 'Make America Great Again' (MAGA) hat." He went on to say: "She is moving towards my ideals but if she is elected, she will change it, and that will be the end of our country."

Trump also accused Kamala Harris of being a Marxist. He said: "She is a Marxist. Everyone knows she is a Marxist. Her father is a Marxist economics professor, and he taught her very well." Kamala has previously been accused of copying Trump's plan to lower tip taxes for restaurant and hotel waiters.

After Kamala tried to link Trump to the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation's Project 2025, Trump said he had nothing to do with the project. She claimed that Trump "intended to implement" a "detailed and dangerous plan" called "Project 2025." "Project 2025" is part of the Heritage Foundation's "Presidential Transition Project" for the 2024 presidential election cycle. Trump, however, denies any connection to the group.

Trump said during the debate: "As you know, and she knows better than anyone, I have nothing to do with Project 2025. That's their business. I haven't seen it. I deliberately don't want to see it. I'm not going to look." He added, "It was a group of people who came together and I think they came up with some ideas, some good, some bad but it makes no difference. Everybody knows I'm an outspoken person and everybody knows I'm going to do what."

Trump quickly turned to immigration and border security during the debate. In response to a question about the economy, he said the Biden-Harris administration has been a "disaster" for the United States, before turning the conversation to "millions of people pouring into our country."

He mentioned Springfield, Ohio, where Haitian immigration is a problem, and Aurora, Colorado, where the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua is causing trouble in apartment complexes.

"Look at what's happening in towns across America, look at Springfield, Ohio, look at Aurora, Colorado, they're taking over towns, they're taking over buildings, they're invading violently," Trump said. It's the people that Harris and Biden brought into our country, they are destroying our country, they are dangerous, their crime rate is very high, we have to get them out."

He later returned to the topic, saying Kamala Harris "destroyed our country with a crazy policy... The policy was that they had to hate our country."

Kamala claimed that Trump wanted to impose a "sales tax" on everyday items, but Trump dismissed the claim as an "incorrect statement."

Trump explained, "She knows that we are putting tariffs on other countries. Other countries are finally going to pay us back after 75 years after we have done so much for the world."

He added, "In some cases, the tariffs are going to be very high. As you know, I collected billions of dollars in tariffs from China. In fact, they never lifted the tariffs because it was a huge amount of money income".

Harris believes that Trump's tariffs will be reflected in taxes on "everyday items you rely on to make a living." The host noted that Trump has said he would raise tariffs to 20% and cited economists' assessments of Trump's tariff plan and the costs it might pass on to consumers.

Trump countered that the U.S. economy suffered high inflation during the Biden-Harris administration, claiming that the U.S.'s "inflation rate is unprecedented and probably the worst in the history of our country."

Trump also criticized the Biden-Harris administration's lack of clear and punitive action after 13 U.S. troops were killed during the 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan. "Thirteen people were brutally murdered, and I knew their parents and families. They didn't fire -- they should have fired all those generals, all those top brass, because that was one of the worst ways of handling it in history," he said.

U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and Republican candidate Donald Trump held a 90-minute debate at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on the 10th. Less than 20 minutes into the opening, Trump publicly denounced Kamala as a "Marxist".

The United States is in fierce global competition with China. When it comes to China, Kamala emphasized that the United States must win the competition while focusing on bilateral relations, technology competitions such as artificial intelligence, and ensuring the U.S. labor market. She told the audience: "Trump basically betrayed us."

In response, Trump showed disdain and denounced Harris as a Marxist but did not explain why. Trump said, "She (Harris) is a Marxist. Everyone knows she is a Marxist."

Kamala Harris fiercely attacks personal lawsuit, Trump angrily uses assassination incident to fight back

The U.S. presidential election debate gradually became more intense. Trump and Kamala Harris went from a friendly handshake at the beginning to a barrage of fire. Regarding the crime issue, Trump first mentioned that the Biden-Harris administration had caused the crime rate to increase, and Kamala Harris immediately attacked Trump. Trump was involved in many lawsuits, which made Trump furious and accused him of political persecution on the spot, and responded with assassinations.

According to US media reports, Kamala pointed out that Trump is a "convicted" criminal and that there are still many lawsuits against him that have not yet been decided. She said that Trump's crimes include violating national security, economic crimes, election interference, sexual assault, etc.

Harris's so-called "conviction" obviously refers to the fact that Trump was found guilty by the court in May of this year for paying hush money to adult film actress Stormy Daniels and falsifying related business records on the eve of the 2016 election. The judge later decided to postpone the sentencing was announced to 26 November 2024 to avoid affecting the presidential election.

Regarding Harris' attack, Trump angrily denounced this as the "weaponization" of politics, and the Democratic Party was trying to use these "fake cases" to win the election. He emphasized that he had won most of the lawsuits and was confident that he would win the rest after appeal.

Trump went on to say that he was almost shot in the head (the assassination in July) due to the Democratic Party's judicial siege on him, apparently implying that the Democratic Party was responsible for his assassination.

Republican candidate Trump and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris faced off for the first time. When discussing the issue of abortion, Trump alleged that the Democratic Party supports "letting babies die after birth." ”, also known as “baby killing”, was immediately stopped by the debate moderator.

The U.S. presidential election debate was hosted by ABC News. When Trump talked about the issue of abortion, he attacked the Democratic Party for being too liberal on abortion and believed that the Democratic Party "supports killing babies."

However, none of the 50 states in the United States allows killing a baby after birth, which is illegal. "ABC" host Linsey Davis immediately corrected Trump's wording, emphasizing that no state in the United States can legally kill a baby after birth.

The U.S. presidential election debate began at 9 am on 11 September, Taiwan/Singapore time. Republican candidate Trump and Vice President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris met each other. When the two sides walked onto the debate stage, Kamala took the initiative to walk towards Trump and shake hands with him.

The general election debate was hosted by ABC News. You can see that Trump and Harris walked onto the stage almost at the same time. Trump entered from the left side of the screen and Kamala came from the right but Trump walked slowly. On her own podium, Kamala quickly walked towards Trump to shake hands.

Before the debate, the two sides were also scrambling over details. In addition to whether the other party's microphone should be turned off when speaking, they even had opinions on the height of the podium.

Since Trump is 6 feet 3 inches (approximately 190.5 cm) tall and Harris is 5 feet 4 inches (approximately 162.5 cm), Harris' podium in the studio was deliberately shorter. The Trump side has protested against this, believing that the two should be the same height. Trump also asked Kamala not to step on the raised box. Judging from the live broadcast of today's debate, Kamala's podium is indeed shorter than Trump's.

China's diplomatic blackmail again? The devil's claws extend to Taiwan's only remaining African diplomatic ally

Last week at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, China’s friendly country Eswatini was the only country among the 54 African countries that declined to participate. Even though China explicitly threatened to cut off all trade with Eswatini, Eswatini has long refused to sever ties with Taiwan. However, foreign media "Semafor Africa" disclosed that China is establishing its commercial and economic interests in Eswatini, showing that Taiwan's only remaining diplomatic country in Africa is gradually moving closer to the Beijing authorities.

Taiwan established an embassy in Mbabane, the capital of Eswatini, in 1968, the same year Eswatini became independent from Britain. Even if other countries turn closer to China, the friendship between Eswatini and Taiwan remains unchanged.

The Eswatini authorities refused to attend the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation last week but business people in the country told Semafor Africa that the authorities are quietly softening towards CCP China. The move forces Taiwan to face the reality that Chinese companies, business people and even state-level players are taking root deeply in the kingdom's economy.

Jeremy Liang, Taiwan’s ambassador to Eswatini, told Semafor Africa that the influx of large numbers of Chinese citizens into this small landlocked country of only 1.2 million people will eventually “destroy” Taiwan’s special relationship with Eswatini.

The report pointed out that another sign of the thawing of relations between Eswatini and CCP China came at the end of last year (2023), when Prince Guduza Dlamini, chairman of the Eswatini Mining Management Committee, led a group of well-known business figures in a delegation to visit CCP China, reportedly to attract Chinese investors and pave the way for establishing diplomatic relations.

However, Eswatini government spokesman Alpheous Nxumalo denied that the mission was to initiate the process of establishing diplomatic relations.

Other reports also pointed out that in May last year, China Electric Power Construction Corporation, a state-owned enterprise in China, won a US$165 million (approximately NT$5.3 billion) contract from the Eswatini government to build the Mpakeni Embankment Dam.

However, the Eswatini government stated in a statement that the country "has not yet established diplomatic relations with China" and instead recognized the brand influence of China Electric Power Construction Company in southern Africa.

Putin is embarrassed! A new interim government was established in Kursk

Editor: Fang Xun / Source: Newstalk  / https://www.aboluowang.com/2024/0911/2101565.html

The war of Russian invasion of Ukraine has lasted for more than 30 months. Both sides are facing serious consumption. Many people also want to end the war quickly and return to their daily lives.

Recently, there have been reports that Ukrainian President Zelensky plans to end the war as soon as possible in the fall of this year (2024) with the support of allies, but Russia still refuses to negotiate with Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian Free Corps also announced the establishment of the "New Russia" interim government in the Kursk region to continue to resist the Putin regime.

X Twitter "NOELREPORTS" tweeted that Zelensky is currently formulating a plan to "unilaterally" end the war, hoping that Ukraine's allies can provide support and put pressure on Russia from the perspective of the international community to force Moscow to negotiate with Kyiv. Zelenskyy emphasized that if Ukraine's allies can put pressure on Russia in international occasions while providing additional military assistance to Ukraine, "the war may end soon."

However, another tweet from "NOELREPORTS" stated that Russian officials said that as long as the Ukrainian army still controls the land in Kursk, Russia will not agree to negotiate with Ukraine. Sergey Shoygu, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council and former Russian Defense Minister, said in an interview with Russian media that the purpose behind the Ukrainian army's attack on Kursk was to control the Kursk nuclear power plant and attempt to threaten Russia with "nuclear terrorism", and Russia could not negotiate with "terrorists".

X Twitter user " rainbow7852 " also shared a video of a public speech by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on X. In the video, Lavrov emphasized that the current issues between Russia and Ukraine have nothing to do with territory, "Russia never wants other people's land", and only hopes that the Russian people can receive "humane treatment". " rainbow7852 " also criticized this remark, believing that Lavrov's speech can be called "the funniest lie this year".

At the same time, the X-tweeter "Daniel Fang" also released news that the Russian Free Army, which is resisting the Putin regime, announced on 7 September 2024 that it had established the "New Russia" interim government in the Kursk region and had reported to the United Nations. "Daniel Fang" tweeted that the UN Security Council has promised the "New Russia" interim government that it will implement its international status as soon as possible. The army of "New Russia" is also about to embark on the process of "liberating the Russian people."

On the other hand, the X-tweeter "NOELREPORTS" also shared the success of the Ukrainian army on the battlefield. The Russian army recently sent a Merlin-VR reconnaissance drone equipped with a "super camera" to try to find out the situation of the Ukrainian army's position. However, the drone was discovered by the 38th Marine Brigade of the Ukrainian Army and was immediately shot down. Ukraine also shared this video to show its determination to continue to fight against Russia.

Beijing continues to leak? Qin Gang's current situation is under heated discussion

北京继续放风?秦刚现况真实性各方热议

Qin Gang, the former Foreign Minister of China, has been missing since he was suddenly dismissed last year. Recently, there was news that Qin Gang is currently working in a low-level position in a state-owned publishing house under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. Now there is news that the "Qin Gang" of the publishing house is not Qin Gang, the former Foreign Minister of China. The mystery of Qin Gang's life and death has attracted attention again.

The Washington Post quoted two former US officials on September 8 as saying that Qin Gang, 58, is currently nominally assigned to the World Knowledge Publishing House under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China as a low-level position. The demotion occurred sometime in the spring.

One of the officials said that the demotion was a "fall from favor," but it also meant that "he got out of trouble." "He won't go to jail, but his career is over."

A reporter from the Washington Post went to the bookstore of World Knowledge Publishing House in Beijing a few days ago. The clerk said that they had not heard that Qin Gang worked at the publishing house; a staff member who answered the phone also said that she didn't know whether the news was true.

In response to this news, on September 10, a Beijing source told Ming Pao that World Knowledge Publishing House did have an employee named "Qin Gang", but it was just the same name and surname, and former Foreign Minister Qin Gang did not work at the publishing house.

Qin Gang was removed from his post as Foreign Minister of the Communist Party of China on July 25, 2023; he was removed from his post as State Councilor on October 24; on July 18 this year, the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China ended. Qin Gang was announced to be removed from his post as a member of the Central Committee, but the official still called him "comrade."

Qin Gang was missing and removed from office, and the official Communist Party of China has not explained the reasons to the public. During this period, Qin Gang was widely rumored to be involved in espionage, extramarital affairs, and internal strife in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There was even news that "Qin Gang is dead" on the Internet, with some saying he committed suicide, others saying he was tortured, and so on.

On August 10 this year, Gao Zhikai, the translator of former Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping, accepted an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera host Mehdi Raza Hasan. Gao Zhikai revealed that Qin Gang lost his job due to corruption. When Hasan repeatedly asked where Qin Gang was, he said, "He is somewhere in China, and you will never see him (Qin Gang)."

After the Washington Post reported the latest news about Qin Gang, its authenticity also sparked heated discussions from all parties.

On 9 September 2024, independent commentator Cai Shenkun posted on the overseas X platform that he had received news from Qin Gang's friends, saying that "Qin Gang was tortured to death as early as last year, and all the news now is unreliable." The report of the Washington Post is getting darker and darker. It is really difficult for the CCP to leak information through various means to prove that Qin Gang is not dead. In this case, why not let Qin Gang show up?!

Neil Thomas, a Chinese political expert at the Asia Society Policy Institute, a U.S. think tank, wrote on X that only when Qin Gang takes up his new role in the publishing house can his whereabouts be 100% confirmed.

Ye Yaoyuan, a professor of international studies at the University of St. Thomas in the United States, told the Epoch Times recently, "I personally think that everything may be a mystery. Drawing conclusions too early may only lead to wrong conclusions but in any case, the CCP must want to keep it mysterious so that all officials are terrified."

Ye Yaoyuan believes that if Qin Gang is confirmed to have been demoted, it should mean that his behaviour (behaviour that the Communist Party or Xi Jinping does not allow) is not a capital crime, and he still has a chance to survive but he guessed that the Communist Party would not make it clear, after all, this would serve as a warning to others. This opaque method makes it impossible for everyone to guess where the CCP's red line is, and it can also create a balance of terror and make everyone tremble with fear.

Australian scholar Feng Chongyi believes that the outside world is watching the treatment of Qin Gang. He doubts the accuracy of the latest news about Qin Gang. He said that people can only guess how the CCP will deal with him. The CCP completely ignores the outside world's doubts. It is like a dead pig that is not afraid of hot water and does not care.

On 9 September 2024, a foreign media reporter asked spokesperson Mao Ning to confirm the news about Qin Gang at a press conference of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mao Ning said that she did not know the news. On the same day, the text record version published on the official website of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs no longer had relevant content.

Analysis: South China Sea Dispute, the intention behind the expansion of the Chinese Coast Guard

Reporters : Xia Dunhou, Yi Ru, and Liu Fang / https://www.ntdtv.com/gb/2024/09/10/a103912331.html

Recently, tensions in the South China Sea have intensified. Chinese Coast Guard ships have collided with Philippine ships many times. Ye Yunhu, Secretary General of the Taiwan Chinese Coast Guard Association, recently accepted an interview with this station and analyzed the intention behind the expansion of the Chinese Coast Guard.

Recently, China and the Philippines have had at least three collisions in the South China Sea. The US State Department condemned the Chinese Coast Guard ship for deliberately colliding with the Philippine Coast Guard ship, causing damage to the ship and endangering the safety of the crew.

Ye Yunhu, Secretary General of the Taiwan Chinese Coast Guard Association, said that the Chinese Coast Guard Bureau is actually carrying out the tasks of the Chinese military under the name of marine law enforcement.

Ye Yunhu, Secretary General of the Taiwan Chinese Coast Guard Association: "After 2018, the Chinese Coast Guard converted the ships with guns and cannons, such as the 052 (destroyer) or 056 (frigate). Then they installed 760-meter rapid-fire cannons. In fact, the surrounding countries are actually treating China's Coast Guard as a navy, but everyone is not very willing to do so."

The Chinese Coast Guard Bureau absorbed the ships of the marine surveillance, fishery administration and anti-smuggling in 2013. In 2018, it was placed under the jurisdiction of the Central Military Commission along with the armed police force. The Chinese Coast Guard Law claims that the functions of the Coast Guard include the so-called "maintaining national sovereignty."

Ye Yunhu: "Maintaining the sovereignty of this country is basically something that only the military can do. The purpose of China's expansion of the Coast Guard is very clear. It wants to use a strategy that you can neither define me as engaging in a military activity, but I can hide under the so-called maritime law enforcement (under the guise)."

The South China Sea is a key waterway for international trade, with more than $3 trillion worth of international trade transported through the South China Sea each year. The CCP claims sovereignty over almost the entire South China Sea, but the Hague International Court of Arbitration ruled in 2016 that the CCP's claim has no legal basis. According to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, countries around the world enjoy the right to free navigation in the high seas.

Ye Yunhu believes that the CCP's use of the Coast Guard to expand in the South China Sea is aimed at challenging the international order.

Ye Yunhu: "China has been testing our bottom line, but it is obvious that in the South China Sea, you can see that they first picked the Philippines to tell everyone that if the Philippines' struggle is successful, other countries will retreat. The Philippines is very clear that there is a US-Philippines Mutual Defense Agreement."

Ye Yunhu said that the purpose of international law and international order is to protect weak countries, and the expansion of the CCP will inevitably lead to Western counterattacks.

Ye Yunhu: "I think the reason why Western countries will be more united, or the reason why these geopolitical countries are more united, is because they want to maintain the existing international legal system and hope that there will still be a set of peaceful solutions to come out. In other words, basically we should not resort to force casually."

Spicy enough to make you sweat but addictive! Chiang Wan'an’s Harvard speech wonderfully described Taiwan’s democracy as spicy hotpot

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan'an arrived in Boston for the second city of his visit to the United States. In the evening of the 9th, he gave a speech at Harvard University. He said that democracy to Taipei citizens is like a spicy pot. It is not perfect, but it will be spicy. You are sweating all over and taking one mouthful after another. With each mouthful, you discover that there is more to it. Democracy is the DNA of Taipei.

Chiang Wan'an said that some people compare the United States to a melting pot, but he believes that Taipei is like a hot pot, with diverse ingredients and rich flavors. It is a diverse city that is both traditional and innovative, both Eastern and Western. If you want to sum up Taipei's diverse characteristics in one word , is "democracy", and democracy is Taipei's DNA.

He said that democracy to Taipei citizens is like spicy hot pot. It is not perfect, but it will make you sweat all over. You take another bite, and each bite makes you discover that there is more connotation, just like all municipal discussions, even if no matter how fierce the debate is, we still move forward together.

Chiang Wan'an said that in Taipei, cultural connections with the United States can be seen everywhere. For example, Roosevelt Road, which connects many important official institutions and National Taiwan University, commemorates President Roosevelt; the important bridge "MacArthur First Bridge" connecting Taipei and Keelung City commemorates MacArthur General; the official residence of the U.S. ambassador in Taiwan has now become the "Light Spot Taipei", an arts and cultural gathering place; the resort guest house for the commander of the U.S. Navy's Seventh Fleet that helped defend the Taiwan Strait in the 1950s has now become the "Ching-Kuo Seven Seas Cultural Park" .

Lai Ching-te attended the Overseas Chinese Affairs Conference and emphasized the prevention of the CCP's united front

Reporters : Lin Jiawei and Liu Ziyin / https://www.ntdtv.com/gb/2024/09/10/a103912330.html

On Tuesday (10 September 2024), President Lai Ching-te of the Republic of China attended the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission meeting and emphasized that although the "1992 Consensus" that accepts the CCP's so-called "one China" principle can be temporarily relieved, it will inevitably face war.

The Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission has expanded the Overseas Chinese Affairs Conference this year, with the theme of overseas cooperation to prevent united front and unity to protect Taiwan. President Lai Ching-te attended the opening ceremony and echoed the theme of the event.

President Lai Ching-te of the Republic of China: "The CCP also exerts its sharp power to carry out its various political intentions around the world. Whether it is through religion, through grassroots village heads, even township heads, representatives of public opinion, all walks of life, and even the military, it is also a target of its infiltration of united front."

To protect Taiwan's freedom and democracy, it is necessary to prevent the CCP's united front. Lai Ching-te said that as president, he must safeguard the survival and development of the country. Without sovereignty, the country will not be safe.

Lai Ching-te: "The 1992 Consensus of the One China Principle proposed by the Chinese Communist Party is equivalent to asking Taiwan to cede sovereignty. Accepting the 1992 Consensus of the One China Principle can certainly lead to a temporary easing of tensions, but in the end, after accepting humiliation, we will inevitably face war."

Pointed out that peace depends on strength, not on agreements. Lai Ching-te also said that Taiwanese people love peace and are kind to others. In the face of natural disasters, they help victims regardless of national boundaries, including natural disasters in China, and Taiwanese people also donate generously. He emphasized that as a president, he must accept public opinion. As long as there is equal dignity, he is willing to communicate and cooperate with China to create peace and prosperity.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a heavyweight bill: If the CCP attacks Taiwan, it will announce the freezing of party officials' assets

On Monday (9 September 2024), the U.S. House of Representatives passed a heavyweight bill: the Taiwan Conflict Deterrence Act. The bill stipulates that if the CCP attacks Taiwan, the United States will expose the details of the assets hidden by senior CCP officials and their families around the world, and freeze their assets in the United States.

U.S. Democratic Congressman Sherman: "If China (Communist Party) takes action against Taiwan, we will take two actions against its senior officials."

Six weeks after the U.S. Congress adjourned, on 9 September, the House of Representatives passed the Taiwan Conflict Deterrence Act without objection. The bill stipulates that if the CCP attacks Taiwan, the U.S. Treasury Department must disclose the illegal assets of senior CCP officials around the world in accordance with the law and freeze their assets in the United States. The targets of sanctions include members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, members of the Political Bureau, and their immediate family members.

Republican Congressman Hill: "When Chinese youth face an unemployment rate as high as 17%, and Xi's authorities are unable to provide social safety nets, many families are heavily in debt due to falling housing prices. Let these corrupt officials explain to the Chinese people how they got rich by relying on the government's oil and water."

The Taiwan Conflict Deterrence Act was jointly proposed by Republican Congressman Hill and Democratic Congressman Sherman in January last year.

Ye Yaoyuan, a professor of international studies at the University of St. Thomas in the United States: "The Taiwan Conflict Deterrence Act itself has a strong symbolic meaning, so it will naturally have a higher impact on China, especially for most senior officials of China, it must have a deterrent effect."

Analysts believe that a series of bills, including the previously passed Taiwan Relations Act, are the most important strategic axes for the United States to protect Taiwan.

Su Ziyun, director of the Institute of National Defense Strategy and Resources at the Taiwan National Defense Security Research Institute, said: "We can call this the main axis of the United States' most important strategy at present, called integrated deterrence. Integrated deterrence means that in addition to military, it also includes economic, diplomatic, and intelligence, which are all part of the overall deterrence force."

In the next week, the House of Representatives is expected to discuss and vote on at least 25 bills directly or indirectly related to China, so it is called "China Week".

Ye Yaoyuan: "I think the symbolic meaning is more important, that is, doing this specifically during China Week, to some extent, it must be a strong warning to the Chinese (Communist) government."

Su Ziyun: "Whether Beijing takes military action or blockade against Taiwan, whether to intervene or not is decided by the U.S. President. So in this case, the result of the U.S. election will of course affect the actual deterrence against the CCP in the future."

The case of the former mayor of Chinese descent in the Philippines fleeing. Congressman: Helping the fugitive is in Taiwan

Reporters : Lin Jiayu and Zhang Qiling / https://www.ntdtv.com/gb/2024/09/10/a103912325.html

Former Philippine mayor of Chinese descent, Guo Huaping, was accused of being a Chinese spy. Guo Huaping fled the country in July and was recently deported to the Philippines. On Monday (9 September 2024), the senator revealed at the hearing that it was a Chinese who assisted Guo Huaping in fleeing.

Former Chinese mayor Guo Huaping, who was wanted by the Philippine Senate, fled the country in July and was deported from Indonesia to the Philippines on 6 September 2024. Guo Huaping is suspected of being a Chinese spy and is accused of suspected human trafficking and sheltering the offshore gaming industry.

On Monday, when Guo Huaping was brought to the Philippine Senate hearing, Senator Risa Hontiveros showed "Guo Huaping"'s Chinese passport and asked if she was the person in the passport. Guo Huaping insisted that she was not.

Philippine Senator Hondiwi vs. Former Philippine Mayor Guo Huaping (2024.9.9): "Is this you? (Madam Senator, I am Alice Guo.) This is not the question I am asking you. My question is, there is a person in front of you, and you see the photo on the passport. Is the person in that photo you? We already know your name. Guo Huaping, is that you?"

Prior to this, the Philippine National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) compared fingerprints and found that her fingerprints matched those of a Chinese woman named "Guo Huaping" who entered the country when she was about 13 years old.

At the hearing, the senator asked who helped her escape two months ago? Guo Huaping wrote a name on a piece of paper, but did not disclose it to the outside world. Senate Interim Speaker Jinggoy Estrada quoted a source at the meeting to disclose that the Chinese who assisted Guo Huaping in absconding held five passports and is currently in Taiwan.

Philippine Senate President Pro Tempore Estrada (2024.9.9): "He holds passports from Saint Christopher, China, Cyprus, Dominican Republic and Cambodia. He holds five passports. According to the information I have, he is now in Taiwan."

Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that Senator Panfilo Lacson, who came from the police force, said that judging from Guo Huaping's response at the hearing, she is likely to be a "trained foreign spy."

Trump fell into the trap: Harris is indeed a master of strategy

Editor: Zhongkang / Source: Wei Guzi / https://www.aboluowang.com/2024/0912/2102165.html

1. Harris won the debate.

2. But her face was blurred.

3. Trump got entangled in himself.

4. But there was no fatal mistake.

1. 3 vs. 1

To analyze the outcome of the debate between Trump and Harris, we must first consider these backgrounds.

Trump went to a dangerous place.

The organizer, ABC News, is affiliated with Disney and is managed by Dana Walden, co-chairman of Disney Entertainment. This person has been a close friend of Harris for 30 years and has supported Harris since she ran for the San Francisco District Attorney.

According to the report of MRC's NewsBusters, ABC's "World News Tonight" program reported 100% positively on Harris and 93% negatively on Trump. It was the host of the program, David Muir, who hosted this debate.

ABC's bias even reached the point of customizing a smaller version of the debate platform for Harris. Because Harris is about 1.62 meters tall and Trump is about 1.90 meters tall, this would make Harris look taller.

The debate was also a three-on-one match.

The two hosts were almost interrogating Trump, accusing him of being a racist, an abortion maniac, and an instigator of rebellion. They did not ask whether Harris's price controls would cause a Soviet-style depression, avoided mentioning that the hasty withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan killed 13 American soldiers, and ignored Harris's tacit consent to abortions at 9 months.

They even repeatedly cited data from municipal officials, police agencies, and the FBI to attack Trump and support Harris, even though American voters knew that the credibility of these deep Democratic governments had long collapsed. For example, Colorado officials denied that illegal immigrants were occupying private homes on TV, the police department did not count the countless crimes that citizens simply gave up reporting, and the FBI suppressed the real Hunter notebook report.

Then, everything Trump said was verified on the spot, and even though many citizens found that Haitian immigrants were catching geese and eating geese, the hosts still had to quote the lies of the bankrupt municipal officials.

Even though Harris was still making up lies that had long been exposed, falsely claiming that Trump said that the neo-Nazis in Charlottesville were very good people, the hosts did not say a word.

In total, the host verified Trump seven times on the spot, while Harris lied 25 times without any verification.

Worse, every time Harris kept defending her extreme left record, the host would change the subject and save her in time. And every time Trump was in a favorable position, they would interrupt in time and change the subject again.

Another thing is that unless there is a collapse like Biden that cannot be ignored, all the propaganda media of the Democratic Party will go all out to say that Harris won, regardless of whether Harris won the debate or not. Just like those propaganda polls, which started from Harris being designated as the presidential candidate and lasted for a long time, insisting that Harris was leading in all aspects.

And the establishment conservative media like the Wall Street Journal, they are strangely concerned about Trump's small words and deeds, wondering whether the conservatives can win and hoping that Trump will lose, and they are lost in self-abuse. The final conclusion will also be that Trump has no discipline this time and let Harris go.

So, if Harris performs normally, don't expect Trump to win, let alone expect public opinion to say that Trump wins. Indeed, Harris is not Biden, and she performs normally.

2. Defense

Considering this background, it is better to understand more accurately what Trump's most important task in the debate is, whether he takes the initiative to adopt strategies to complete it or gets similar results due to real confrontation.

Not attacking, but defending. Not knocking Harris down, but retreating. Not winning completely, but making sure not to make mistakes, especially if there are other gender or racial handles. Not being arrogant, but staying serious. Not being empty-headed, but talking about practical issues. Not entangled with the other party, but expressing oneself, whether it is one's own policies or criticism of the other party.

In the final analysis, it is not to take risks, but to normalize the war. Prevent Harris from achieving a substantial victory and soaring from then on.

In this way, the position of the Electoral College, that is, the position of the swing states, especially the position of Pennsylvania, can be defended. Whoever wins Pennsylvania will be the president, and Trump currently has the upper hand there. Click here for a detailed analysis.

As for his resentment and vanity, they are inevitable, and voters are not surprised. As long as there is no fatal failure in the debate, such as the September surprise involving race or gender, no one will decide whether to vote for him because of this character trait.

When it comes to winning or losing a debate, I never expect Trump to win, whether against Biden or Harris. Whether it is against Hillary in 2016 or Biden in 2020, I don’t think Trump really won.

I do not think he has ever caught them, let alone the fact that the Democratic Party has formed a sophisticated loach strategy and wants to catch Harris. My column "Strategist Harris" analyzed this topic. Click here for a detailed analysis.

Frankly speaking, I don not think he is a good debater either.

When it comes to campaign strategy, I just advocate that he adopt Biden’s previous strategy now, debate less and expose himself less. Before the debate with Biden, I advocated not to accept the challenge of changing the established time. Please click here for a detailed analysis.

Because the success or failure of the debate is inherently risky, and for Trump, it is easier to draw the spotlight on himself. He does not need the spotlight, he has the advantage of the Electoral College.

What he needs to do is to let the public discuss the Democratic Party and the irreversible governance failure of Biden-Harris, and their acknowledged avoidance of voters highlights this point. In fact, voters are not fools. The Democratic Party has been in power for four years, and the two of failure and avoidance have been done too much.

Before Trump and Biden debated in advance, public opinion and polls showed what the trend of referendum Biden was. The strategy I emphasized before the debate was virtue first, not grabbing Biden.

The strategy adopted by Trump in that debate, or his own performance, was the defensive strategy or virtue strategy summarized above. But Biden was not able to withstand the blow and blew himself up. Trump's debate unexpectedly led to the Democratic Party's change of cards, and the referendum advantage in the cruising state was violently shaken.

However,  Harris, who has experienced an artificial boom that lasted until the end of the party congress, has shown the same passivity as Biden since the announcement of price controls, whether in terms of the direction of public opinion or changes in polls, that is, she cannot bear the torment of the referendum.

So much so that the latest poll data from the New York Times, the top propaganda machine of the Democratic Party, shows that Trump is actually leading by 1 point nationwide.

Therefore, it is reasonable for Trump to continue to adopt a defensive strategy. Compared with a fatal blow, he needs to play steadily.

3. On-site

If you look at the scene, from the first two minutes, Harris obviously took the initiative to adopt an offensive strategy, mocking and provoking Trump, from the last election, to the criminal case involved, and even the scale of Trump's rally.

Trump fell into the trap a little hastily and spent a lot of time defending himself, and the result was that the focus was on himself. Therefore, a lot of time was wasted, and he should have pursued Harris.

So much so that Lindsey Graham, a staunch ally, sighed. For example, Harris said that she inherited Trump's mess. He shouted in front of the TV: No, Trump should say that you inherited low oil prices, a secure border and a successfully developed vaccine.

Of course, Trump's frankness can help to eliminate the demonization of him.

Evidence of illegal voting emerges in an endless stream, dual enforcement of the Capitol Hill riots and BLM, Biden's four years, illegal immigrants eat geese. The editorial of the Wall Street Journal believes that it is meaningless to talk about these, but these are all issues related to American democracy. If you say it is meaningless, it is just that you think it cannot be solved. In any case, this will not cause Trump to completely collapse.

There is also a certain amount of time to explain your own policies in a defensive state.

These are often combined with criticisms of Harris, from extreme left policies to incompetent leadership. In any case, he has achieved the highlight of his own economic, immigration and especially foreign policies, although not necessarily continuous, but still complete.

He also took Harris to the three armies. For her policy changes, he gave her a MAGA hat. For her immigration policy, he told her that she should go to the White House to wake up Biden that night. Regarding her communication with Putin about the situation in Russia and Ukraine, she pointed out that she had not changed anything.

I specifically analyzed Trump's use of leverage in this column on CNN's massacre night. You can click here for details. It is true that he may have missed the perfect opportunity that Lindsey Graham suggested, but there are still a few places where leverage was used.

When Harris said that Trump engaged in extreme incitement, Trump said that the Democrats incited the shooting of him. When Harris said that 81 million voters fired Trump, Trump said that she had not received a single vote.

When Harris talked about what she would do, Trump's closing statement was particularly eye-catching: She said she would do this at the beginning, and said that she would do all these good things. Why hasn't she done it yet? She has been there for three and a half years.

In fact, Trump was almost focused on expressing himself throughout the whole scene, not angry, not interrupting, calm, serious, and even didn't look at Harris.

He was emotionally stable and did not get impatient, even when he was caught in defense. This may be his biggest gain in this debate.

In comparison, Harris is more like Trump in the past, bullying and impatient. Statistics also show that Harris is far more likely to interrupt under a muted microphone than Trump. Trump even once told Harris to be quiet.

This is almost the same method he used last time, or what happened last time. It's just that he wisely didn't pick up Biden's words last time. It's just that this time his opponent didn't fall and seemed to have the upper hand.

However, Harris also lost the opportunity to explain herself honestly and specifically. After a debate, she won everything, but voters still don't understand her. If they do, it's consistent dishonesty. The offensive strategy also highlights this point, which is actually to avoid exposing herself.

As mentioned earlier, it is not Trump who is in power now, but she and Biden who have been in power for four years. She cannot avoid the referendum on everything in these four years.

4. Win or lose

If you say that Harris won more points, I think it is correct. If you say that Trump lost some ground, it is also correct but I do not think Harris achieved KO and Trump still survives.

Harris's real success is that she achieved a far-beyond-expectations performance with an offensive strategy under the protection of the host, and made Trump add unnecessary explanations about himself.

This kind of self-entanglement has always been the focus of the Democratic Party's attack and the biggest concern of mysophobic patients. In the last debate with Biden, Trump was less exposed.

This situation occurred recently when Harris just came to power. He was caught in the vortex of accusing Harris of manipulating skin colour, and Vance was caught in the defense of the Cat woman theory.

However from an observation point of view, I never expect Trump to kill his opponent through debates. On the contrary, I am most wary of whether he will make fatal mistakes.

He did not this time. Considering the overwhelming background of partiality, such a performance is barely acceptable.

Based on the current situation, I do not think that the overall trend of her and Harris will mutate, the electoral college will mutate, the swing states will mutate, and Pennsylvania will mutate.

Trump's danger may not be the change of mind of voters in swing states, but the self-doubt of Republicans. In addition, voters in swing states will not choose Harris because of policies, but may trust her because of the leadership of the strategist reflected in the debate. In particular, will they suspect that perhaps Trump's ability to react is indeed inferior to that of the young Harris?

What changes will occur requires further observation.

Should Trump accept a second debate? I still think that if it is not on FOX, he does not have to accept it. And now, he has reason to ask Harris to agree to be on FOX.

U.S. Department of Justice: Transnational terrorist organizations use Telegram to incite hate crimes

美司法部:跨國恐怖組織利用Telegram煽動仇恨犯罪

On Monday (10 September 2024), the U.S. Department of Justice announced that two leaders of the transnational terrorist organization Terrorgram Collective were accused of using the social media platform Telegram to incite hate crimes and violence against minorities, government officials, critical infrastructure, etc. in the United States.

Dallas Humber, 34, from Elk Grove, California, and Matthew Allison, 37, from Boise, Idaho, was arrested o 6 September.

The two defendants face 15 federal charges in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, including inciting hate crimes and murdering federal officials, disseminating bomb-making instructions and conspiring to provide material support to terrorists.

The cases include the stabbing of five people outside a Turkish mosque last month and the arrest of an 18-year-old in July for plotting an attack on a power substation.

The indictment accuses the two of opening and operating Telegram channels and group chat network Terrorgram, where they recruited followers and attackers, provided instructions and guidance to commit crimes, and provided "high-value" target lists for attacks and assassinations.

The lists include U.S. federal, state and local officials, as well as leaders of private companies and non-governmental organizations, many of whom have been targeted based on race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation and more.

The indictment stated that the two produced and disseminated a number of videos and publications abetting terrorist crimes, including a 24-minute documentary "White Terror", which recorded and glorified approximately 105 incidents of white terror between 1968 and 2021 and supremacist violence.

Attorney General Merrick B. Garland said at a press conference: "Today's arrests are a warning: There is no hiding place for committing hate crimes in the darkest corners of the Internet, and there is no hiding place for inciting terrorist attacks behind a screen. There will be no protection. The U.S. Department of Justice will find you and we will hold you accountable."

Assistant Attorney General Matthew Olsen of the Justice Department's National Security Division said the defendants "conspired to provide material support and incite attacks against federal officials and critical government infrastructure, including federal buildings and energy facilities. Today's "The charges demonstrate the Department of Justice's determination to use every tool at its disposal to counter threats from violent extremists and protect the safety of the American people."

Telegram spokesperson Remi Vaughn said: "Incitement to violence is not allowed on the Telegram platform. A few years ago, Telegram removed multiple channels after discovering variations of the name 'Terrorgram'. Once similar content it appears, it will be banned.”

Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov was detained by French authorities last month on charges of allowing the platform to be used for criminal activities. Durov responded to the accusation in a post last week, saying he personally should not have been the target of the accusation and pledging to step up efforts to combat criminal activity on the app.

He wrote that while Telegram was not "some kind of anarchist paradise," the surge in user numbers "is creating more and more trouble and makes it easier for criminals to abuse our platform."

Trump's chance of winning rises to 64%? Statistics guru’s prediction model shows election swings

The U.S. presidential election has entered a critical period. The latest prediction model of Nate Silver, a well-known statistician known for his accurate predictions, shows that former President Trump’s probability of winning the electoral vote has increased to 64 %. This prediction is mainly influenced by the latest New York Times/Siena College poll, which shows that Trump is slightly ahead of his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris, indicating that the election is showing signs of a turning point and deserves attention.

In the 2008 U.S. election, Silver became famous for accurately predicting the outcome of the presidential election in 49 of the 50 states, and completely hitting all 35 senator-elects. He is also the author of the book "Accurate Prediction" and a former " Editor-in-Chief of the New York Times FiveThirtyEigh website. His prediction model has received widespread attention for its accuracy.

According to the latest New York Times/Siena College poll, Trump leads Harris by 1 percentage point. This result also caused Silver's prediction model to make adjustments. He believes that the election situation has changed and Trump won the electoral vote. The probability has increased to 63.8%. Silver's political stance leans liberal but he also emphasizes the objectivity of data analysis.

The New York Times/Siena College poll was one of the few that accurately predicted Trump's victory in the 2016 presidential election, and is known as one of the "most accurate polls in the United States."

Fox News reported that Kamala had previously performed well in a number of national and swing state polls. However, the latest poll results showed that Trump had regained lost ground and gained a small lead. Silver believes that the results of this poll confirm his model's judgment that the election situation has changed, and Trump's momentum has indeed picked up.

Polls also show that voters have doubts about the political stances of the two candidates. A New York Times/Sinner College poll found that more voters believe Kamala is "too liberal or progressive" on key policy issues, which may be detrimental to her appeal to middle-of-the-road voters. In comparison, fewer voters think Trump is "too conservative," which shows that Trump has more solid support among conservative voters.

According to Silver's predictive model, Kamala Harris has only a 36 percent chance of winning the electoral vote. Although Schiffer's national poll average shows her leading Trump by 2.5 percentage points, the outcome of the electoral votes depends on the votes obtained in each state. Her lead in many key swing states has gradually narrowed, and the election has become a stalemate. Subsequent development deserves continued attention.

It is worth noting that Silver also mentioned that the upcoming debate will be a key opportunity for Kamala to reverse the election. If she performs well in the debate, it may help her boost her momentum and resolve voters' doubts about her political stance. However, Silver also pointed out that the election situation in key swing states such as Michigan and Pennsylvania is still full of challenges for her, and the future election development is full of uncertainty.

In addition, Silver also analyzed the impact of the selection of Kamala Harris's deputy. He believes that by choosing Tim Walz instead of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as her running mate, she may have missed an opportunity to show favour to the median voters and also confused some voters about her political stance.
