Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the former independent presidential candidate who recently announced that he has suspended his campaign and switched to supporting Trump, on Tuesday (17 September) Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson revealed during a live broadcast that Trump has extended an olive branch to him. If Trump wins a second term, Kennedy Jr. will be responsible for selecting the leadership of the U.S. public health agencies.
Kennedy Jr. told Carlson that if Trump wins the election in November, he will be responsible for eliminating "corrupt influences" in various public health agencies in the United States and will have the power to select the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Food and Drug Administration FDA and National Institutes of Health (NIH) leaders.
"President Trump specifically asked me to do two things. One is to solve the corruption problem in these institutions and unlock the control of corruption on the institutions. In other words, drain the swamp." Kennedy Jr. said.
Kennedy Jr. said in an interview with Carlson last month that Trump would invite him to join the transition team if Trump is elected.
However, Karoline Leavitt, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, said these discussions are a bit "premature" and it is not yet appropriate to discuss who will hold what positions in Trump's second term.
The spokesperson said: "While President Trump has announced the formation of the Trump-Vance transition leadership team to prepare for the post-election work, it is premature to have formal discussions about who will fill which positions. President Trump will select the best people to serve in his cabinet to reverse all the damage that Harris has done to our country."
