According to VNA, on 20 May 2025, local time, the Prime Minister of Vietnam has issued Decision No. 979/QD-TTg, approving the investment proposal and investors of the Sun PhuQuoc Airways project.
According to the decision, the implementing investor of the Sun PhuQuoc Airways project will be Sun PhuQuoc Airways Co., Ltd. This is a company under the Sun Group. The project name is "Sun PhuQuoc Airways-SPA". It is reported that by 2030, the total fleet of Sun PhuQuoc Airways is expected to reach 31 aircraft. The total investment of the project is 2.5 trillion VND.
The goal of the project is to establish a new airline whose main business model is to transport passengers through commercial flights, combined with charter flights, to provide services to tourists traveling to Vietnam and the world's tourism and business centres (usually famous tourist islands and prosperous financial and business centres), and to contribute to attracting domestic and foreign tourists to visit Phu Quoc. It is expected that in the fourth quarter of 2025, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will officially operate its first flight, connecting Phu Quoc with key economic and tourism centres at home and abroad.
In addition to Sun PhuQuoc Airways, Sun Group currently still operates the luxury general aviation company Sun Air, which provides high-end private jet services to high-end customers.
