On 20 May 2026, a large-scale tap water poisoning incident occurred in Weishi County, Kaifeng, Henan Province, with a large number of residents and students experiencing symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. Local hospitals were overcrowded, and residents frantically bought bottled water, spreading panic. Recently, many residents of Weishi County posted videos stating that adults and students were experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, and general weakness, suspecting a problem with the tap water. Multiple videos showed that the local tap water was yellow, turbid, and thick; large numbers of people flocked to hospitals for emergency treatment, and all hospital outpatient departments were overflowing overnight; residents lined up in their residential areas to collect water and rushed to supermarkets to buy bottled water.

On 20 May, Ms. Niu (pseudonym), a local resident, told Jiupai News that her family of two adults and one child had eaten normally, but last night (19 May), both she and her son experienced abdominal pain and diarrhea. The child's father, however, had no symptoms. When they went to the hospital for examination, they saw that not only children but also adults were queuing for tests. She stated that the water supply had been cut off last night, and they were using bottled mineral water for cooking.

Ms. Song (pseudonym) also experienced vomiting. Hospital tests showed excessive bacteria and food poisoning.

On the 20th, a staff member at a hospital in Weishi County stated that many people lined up for tests that morning, with varying symptoms—some vomiting, some having diarrhea. The hospital had arranged for staff to work overtime to conduct tests, but the specific cause was still undetermined, "possibly due to rainwater mixing into the tap water pipes."

That same day, the joint investigation team of Weishi County, Henan Province, reported that on the evening of 19 May, residents in Weishi County's urban area sought medical attention at hospitals and clinics due to vomiting and diarrhea. Their symptoms improved after treatment. Relevant pathological samples have been sent for testing. As of 21 May, no official explanation has been released.

Local residents have left numerous comments, with some saying that in a residential area in Weishi County, the tap water has been contaminated, causing a water outage. Families are suffering from water poisoning, experiencing vomiting and diarrhea, including students. Everyone is buying water for cooking, but there's no water for flushing toilets, forcing them to search for water elsewhere. They hope higher authorities will quickly investigate the cause; it's terrifying.

"I took this picture when I saw a lot of people buying water while I was getting an IV drip. After my drip, I bought some too. I took my child home from the hospital around 2 am last night; we're also victims. The hospital was packed, with long queues even late at night. There's still no water; the whole county is without water, so we have to buy water to maintain our daily lives. Bottled and junk water in supermarkets is also being hoarded."

"Two days ago, the county was notified of a water outage. Massive numbers of students in schools are experiencing vomiting and diarrhea, suspected to be due to water quality issues."

"The water is like beer, yellowish-brown, foamy, and has black sediment floating in it!" "I wanted to wash my face, and the tap water tasted like soy sauce." "Who poisoned the water? Vomiting and diarrhea!"

"Now, so many students and adults in the entire Weishi County are experiencing vomiting and diarrhea!"

"What happened in Weishi? Overnight, all the hospital outpatient clinics were overflowing with people vomiting and having diarrhea." "Fever persists, queues continue."

"My child is young, drinks formula, which I always filter and boil to 50 degrees Celsius to prepare. I've never let him drink tap water, but he still caught it. He's vomiting, has diarrhea, and a fever. Last night, he couldn't even take water or medicine, so I had to take him to the hospital for an injection in the middle of the night."

"The water has been cut off for over 30 hours! Going to the toilet is a struggle, there are long queues at public places! What are we going to do..."

"There are so many people queuing for water. Life is so hard now, money is hard to earn, and health and safety aren't guaranteed."

"How many people does the Weishi tap water system have to harm before it stops? Now it's directly causing a water outage..."

"The Weishi tap water system is in trouble. There's no power or water today. At this time, the streets are deserted, no cars, it feels like the end of the world."

Scanning twice per second? Chinese Smart TVs spying on users shock the U.S.

Recently, a lawsuit concerning a mainland Chinese television manufacturer has sparked strong concern in American society. According to prosecutors, the company's televisions may be secretly monitoring and stealing the personal privacy of Americans.

Press the remote, turn on the screen—you think you're watching TV, but your TV might be spying on you!

Recently, U.S. media have once again sounded the alarm: Smart TVs produced by Chinese companies pose a risk of monitoring and collecting user data.

On 12 May 2026, the law firm Peiffer Wolf (Peiffer Wolf Carr Kane Conway & Wise) filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Hisense USA, alleging that it tracks and records users' personal viewing history and other behaviour, violating user privacy.

"Hisense USA" is the U.S. operating subsidiary of the Chinese company "Hisense Group," holding approximately 8% to 12% of the U.S. smart TV market share.

The indictment alleges that these smart TV devices send data to "Hisense's parent company in China and its affiliates, where Chinese law mandates they comply with the Chinese government's demands to share this data."

The indictment further states that Hisense smart TVs' embedded Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) technology can "record the sound and images displayed on the screen at a frequency of once every 500 milliseconds."

Brandon Wise, a partner at Peiffer Wolf's firm, expressed concern: "The indictment alleges that Hisense is ultimately linked to a Chinese company, and that this sensitive data of American consumers could very well be transferred to China."

This is not the first time Hisense has been sued for allegedly spying on Americans. In December 2025, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued Hisense and four other companies, accusing them of using Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) technology to collect and transmit sensitive personal information.

Has Xi Jinping violated four fatal taboos? Signs of the CCP's impending demise are emerging across the board
—Analysis: Xi Jinping has committed four major taboos; signs of the CCP's imminent demise are already emerging

Since Xi Jinping came to power, the political and economic environment in China has deteriorated, and public discontent is boiling. Some analysts believe that Xi has committed four major errors in governance; this is not a momentary lapse, but a systemic setback, and the country's crisis is imminent.

Since taking office in 2012, Xi Jinping's personally directed three-year "dynamic zero-COVID" policy has severely damaged the Chinese economy. In particular, numerous major policy mistakes in domestic and foreign policy have led to soaring unemployment, mounting local government debt, and official inaction. Meanwhile, intensifying infighting within the CCP's top leadership has resulted in the resignation and disappearance of a large number of high-ranking party, government, and military officials.

Political commentator "New Heights" published an article on X today (21 May 2026) stating that Xi Jinping has committed four major errors in his more than ten years in power; this is not a momentary lapse, but a systemic setback. Economic stagnation, social division, international isolation, and governance failure are all occurring simultaneously, creating internal and external difficulties that are difficult to reverse, and signs of national collapse are already emerging.

The author summarizes four taboos: 1. Seizing the wealth of the rich: from common prosperity to a massive wealth cleansing; 2. Taking the lives of the poor: uncovering the truth and fueling despair at the bottom; 3. Suppressing the voices of intellectuals: censorship and ideological imprisonment; 4. Losing the trust of neighbors: wolf warrior diplomacy and making enemies on all sides.

The author states that Xi Jinping, under the guise of "common prosperity," has systematically plundered private enterprises and the wealthy. For example, the assets of giants in real estate, education and training, and technology have been frozen, subject to huge fines, or effectively nationalized, leading to a collapse in confidence among private enterprises and accelerated capital flight.

The author mentions that the extreme "dynamic zero-COVID" policy, with its layered tightening and city/district lockdowns, has driven countless poor people to despair and suicide due to lack of access to medical care, unemployment, and food shortages. The tragic scenes of the elderly and children unable to access medical care and facing shortages of supplies during lockdowns in Shanghai and Xi'an remain appalling. The economic downturn, coupled with high housing prices, unemployment, and the burden of medical and educational costs, has severely deteriorated the quality of life for the lower classes, leading to a surge in youth "lying down" and "living off" – a silent indictment of the system.

Even more chilling is the systematic exploitation of the underprivileged, especially teenagers. China's missing persons problem has long been severe; according to unofficial statistics and media reports, millions of children and teenagers go missing or are abducted each year, with teenagers making up a disproportionately high percentage. Some cases have raised suspicions of an organ black market.

Furthermore, the allegations of forced organ harvesting are appalling. Independent investigative reports, testimonies from former military doctors, and a 2020 ruling by the China Tribunal all indicate that the CCP is suspected of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners, Uyghurs, and other prisoners of conscience to support a massive transplant industry.

The author criticizes that during the Xi Jinping era, the Great Firewall, real-name registration, and grid-based surveillance are pervasive. Externally, Xi pursues a "wolf warrior" diplomacy.

The author states that in today's China, some citizens are still manipulated by propaganda about a "prosperous era," mistaking patriotism for national folly; a small elite group shamelessly pursues profit, with collusion between power and money and rampant corruption. History shows the dangers: throughout history, those who violated all four taboos met a swift demise.

Yuan Hongbing, a legal scholar based in Australia familiar with the inner workings of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) bureaucracy, revealed to overseas Chinese media that since the 20th National Congress of the CCP, Xi Jinping's massive purges and rectification campaigns have been operating at breakneck speed, with officials living in constant fear and anxiety, unsure when disaster will strike.

Some netizens have commented that the root of China's problems lies in the CCP system, and that Xi Jinping is the chief accelerator of the CCP's demise.
