President Tsai Ing-wen of the Republic of China held a press conference for the seventh anniversary of her administration at the Presidential Palace on Saturday (20 May 2023) morning. Tsai Ing-wen mentioned a number of achievements, including national defense independence, green energy construction, and Taiwan-US relations. She also thanked public and private personnel for sticking to their posts, as well as the united efforts of the 23 million people in Taiwan.

Tsai Ing-wen, President of the Republic of China, said, "In the past seven years, we have redefined Taiwan and let the world see again the indispensable existence of Taiwan."

President Tsai Ing-wen held a press conference on May 20, explaining that she has been in power for seven years. She listed achievements in national defense, green energy, and foreign relations. In terms of housing justice, high housing prices and communal housing were questioned, and the president also made an explanation.

Tsai Ing-wen: "High housing prices are indeed a problem for many people. Sound real estate markets and stable residents' rights and interests have been the principles we have adhered to since we came to power. Therefore, we have made a lot of efforts in a multi-pronged manner to curb housing prices."

The opposition parties are attacking the lack of water and electricity. Among them, the industry proposed to resume the transfer of nuclear power plants for the first and second nuclear power plants. The president responded that it was not feasible and made it clear that Taiwan would not lack electricity.

Tsai Ing-wen said, "By 2030, excluding renewable energy, our new power plant units, deducting the net increase in decommissioned units, can reach 9.1 million kilowatts. I can tell you that Taiwan will not be short of electricity."

Taiwan has recently attracted international attention, and the situation in the Taiwan Strait has become a global keyword. In the next one-year term, we must ensure two key points.

Tsai Ing-wen added, "The first is to maintain Taiwan's key position in the global supply chain, and the second is to maintain the status quo of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait."

The President emphasized that the Taiwan Strait issue must be resolved peacefully, war is by no means an option, and cross-Strait relations must be handled with a global perspective. The government will strive to maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait with the "Four Persistences."
