Robert O'Brien, former U.S. President Trump's White House national security adviser, warned that China's armed invasion of Taiwan is likely to happen within "1 to 2 years". KMT Committee member You Yulan criticized in an interview today that O'Brien is an arms dealer who tried every means to come to Taiwan to sell weapons, and even said that he would put needle bombs in the police station. Forget about such a person.

You Yulan believes that governing the country requires wisdom. Now that China and the United States are confronting each other, the Republic of China must have wisdom to avoid the war, and there is no need to add fuel to the fire. Yesterday, Defense Minister Qiu Guozheng also said that if the two sides of the Taiwan Strait go to war, there will be no distinction between the front line and the rear, and everyone will die on the same island.

O'Brien warned that China is likely to invade Taiwan by force within one to two years

Japan's "Yomiuri Shimbun" reported on 4 May 2023 that former US President Trump's White House National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien (Robert O'Brien) warned in an online interview this week that China's military invasion of Taiwan is likely and "It will happen within two years", and he urged the United States and Japan to respond resolutely, assist Taiwan's defense and give Taiwan diplomatic support to deter China's actions.

In 2021, the then commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, Philip Davidson warned at a US Senate hearing that he was worried that the threat of the Chinese People's Liberation Army attacking Taiwan may occur within the next six years or before 2027, but O'Brien ( 1) told the "Yomiuri Shimbun", "I believe that the time has shortened, and I think there are 1 or 2 years left now."

O'Brien also stressed that if Japan, the United States and their allies did not provide Taiwan with the weapons it needed to defend itself and the diplomatic force it needed to deter China from believing they could invade Taiwan without serious consequences, Taiwan could in a very dangerous situation.

In March, O'Brien, as the chairman of the "U.S.-Taiwan Relations Working Group" of the Global Institute for Taiwan Studies (GTI), led a group of American think tank scholars to visit Taiwan and received the "Special Grand Ribbon Star Medal" from President Tsai Ing-wen. At that time, O'Brien said bluntly that the United States was not happy to see Taiwan being invaded by an authoritarian regime, and believed that the United States would stand united with Taiwan.

According to the "Yomiuri Shimbun" report, O'Brien is expected to visit Japan on 16 May 2023 and will deliver a speech at the Yomiuri International Economic Society and attend an international conference in Tokyo.

People's awareness of defense is on the rise. The Police Administration has issued a document to all police stations across the Republic of China (Taiwan), hoping to recruit people aged 18 to 40 to join the ranks of civil defense and volunteer police to assist in major disaster rescue and support military services. Democratic Progressive Party legislator Luo Zhizheng emphasized on 5 May 2023 that Taiwan's increased reserve capacity can increase the cost of CCP China's thinking about invading Taiwan, and only by preparing for war can it avoid or stop war.

According to the recruitment document of the police station, the mission of the people is to assist the local area to maintain law and order or self-defense for 4 hours a month, to receive 4 to 8 hours of training every year, to participate in national defense exercises, to assist in traffic control and evacuation, to assist in major disaster rescue, and to support military services. However, some public opinion interpreted it as "the two sides of the strait must eventually fight."

Luo Zhizheng said in an interview on 5 May, "Only by preparing for war can we avoid war, or even stop war." The national defense is part of the current strategy, which increases the cost of China's thinking about invading Taiwan. A very important factor in national defense improvement is the improvement of civil defense. The national defense mobilization The Legislative Yuan has been discussing the preparations and amendments to the law. It is hoped that it will increase the reserve capacity and allow China to have more concerns when thinking about invading Taiwan, thereby achieving the effect of stopping or avoiding war.

Luo Zhizheng said that the blue camp has always played the "war card" and regarded elections as a choice between war and peace. However, most people do not agree with this strategy, because it is to choose the future of a country, Taiwan's economic development and social development. Welfare, etc., cross-strait is only a part of it, and should not be reduced to a choice between war and peace.

DPP legislator Zhang Honglu pointed out that the vigilantes usually have their tasks in the local area. Many vigilantes are relatively old. It is a good thing if young and new people can join. There will definitely be military training, but there will still be some basic training.

Paraguay held a presidential election on 30 April 2023, and the survival of diplomatic relations with Taiwan has become the main axis of the election campaign. Santiago Peña, a 44-year-old candidate from the ruling Red Party, which supports maintaining diplomatic ties with Taiwan, defeated his opponent by a wide margin. The Red Party also won a majority of seats in Paraguay's Senate and House of Representatives. Chinese President Tsai Ing-wen called Peña this morning (5 May) to congratulate him.

In an exclusive interview with Japan's Asahi Shimbun after being elected, Peña emphasized that Paraguay will become Taiwan's spokesperson in the international community, and emphasized that establishing diplomatic relations with China is not attractive. As for the opposition party candidate hinting that if elected, he will establish diplomatic relations with China, Peña said that this is a major mistake. As an economist with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Benia said more bluntly that he is well aware that China has a huge influence in Africa, but these countries have never become richer.

Foreign Minister Joseph Wu also expressed through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Twitter on 5 May that he was honoured to accompany President Tsai in sending a congratulatory message to our great ally, President-elect Peña of Paraguay. Under the leadership of current President Mario Abdo Benítez, the bilateral relationship between Taiwan and Paraguay has continued to strengthen. the Republic of China (Taiwan) will do its best to bring the relationship between the two countries to a new high.

The Republic of China (Taiwan) has purchased a total of 29 sets of "Hippocampus" high-mobility multiple launch rocket systems from the United States in two batches. Among them, the second batch is an additional 18 sets of systems. The factory has achieved results in early delivery to Taiwan. These 18 sets will be delivered to Taiwan in advance of 2026 instead of the original delivery date of 2027-2028.

Under the name of the "Long-Range Precision Fire Strike System", the Army first purchased 11 sets of Seahorse multiple launch rocket systems from the United States through military purchases. This case included 64 Army Tactical Missiles (ATACMS) with a range of up to 300 kilometers. Then, because the military decided not to purchase 40 M109A6 self-propelled guns, and purchased 18 additional sets of "Hippocampus" systems from the United States, the total number of purchased sets increased to 29 sets, and the Army allocated 32.523547 billion yuan for support.

The procurement quantity of Army Tactical Area Missiles has also increased from 64 to 84. It is worth noting that the Army also purchased 864 additional "precision rockets" this time.

M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) for short, is jointly produced by Lockheed Martin and British Aerospace Vehicle Systems (responsible for the vehicle chassis). The launch box can carry 6 Rocket or 1 Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) missile with a range of up to 42 kilometers for rockets and 300 kilometers for Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS).

The ruling and opposition legislators are concerned about the delivery schedule of these two batches of 29 sets of "Hippocampus" high-mobility multiple launch rocket systems respectively, will be completed from 2024 to 2025, and the 18 additional sets purchased later will be completed in 2026 in advance.

Inquiry about oppression on the other side of the strait, shared planes disrupting Taiwan, green camp member criticizes Hou You-yi for "condemning China" and can't say it

New Taipei Mayor Hou You-yi may accept the KMT's call to run for election in 2024. The New Taipei City Council's Democratic Progressive Party group questioned on 5 May 2023, and the topic revolved around national affairs. Luying City Councilor Peng Jiayun said that China's suppression of Taiwan has prevented Taiwan from joining Interpol again, which has affected Taiwan's public security rights and interests. Is Hou You-yi willing to condemn China? Hou You-yi said that during his tenure as the chief of criminal police, he tried to set up police liaison officers stationed abroad, and there were practical channels for international cooperation in combating crimes.

Peng Jiayun said that Hou You-yi wants to be president in the future, but he cannot even blame China. The people will have great doubts about him. He hopes that Hou You-yi will stand on the same side as the people of Taiwan.

Democratic Progressive Party member Zhong Hongren continued to question; Zhong Hongren said that Hou Youyi believed that "the municipal government is the state government", and he wanted to discuss the national security issue with Hou. If the country is not safe, the people will not be able to live and work in peace and contentment in New Taipei. I would like to ask Hou Youyi's definition of "peace". If a country is hostile and oppressive to Taiwan, is the wronged peace considered peace?

Hou Youyi said that a country should have self-confidence, and international exchanges should be equal, dignified, friendly, and kind to each other. Any harassment or provocation against national security is unacceptable.

Zhong Hongren pressed on every step of the way, and kept asking Hou You-yi whether the disturbance of Taiwan, exercises, and missiles against Taiwan were pressure, oppression, or hostility.

Under Zhong Hongren's repeated questioning, Hou You-yi said "Of course".

Zhong Hongren said that since this is the case, Taiwan must make preparations on weekdays. There are many important units in New Taipei City, including the Second Security Corps, which is responsible for safeguarding the security of important state-run institutions. Strengthening the protection capabilities of the Second Security Corps is said to be "going to fight and serve as a soldier." He is really ashamed of being the Chief of Police.

Hou You-yi intends to explain, but Zhong Hongren's questioning time is over. (updated at 13:25)

Members of the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) visited the Democratic Progressive Party yesterday (4th). Comprehensive and in-depth exchanges on issues such as improving the female labor force and the 2024 general election. Some group members pointed out that Taiwan's efforts to speak out for itself, its pursuit of equality, and the collective consciousness of self-determination of the Taiwanese people are touching.

The Democratic Progressive Party stated through a press release today that the members of the delegation are all visiting Taiwan for the first time. Wu Junyu, Director of the Gender Equality Affairs Department Li Yanrong, Director of the Youth Affairs Department Ruan Junda, and Deputy Director of the International Affairs Department Qiu Wenli jointly received the meeting.

Yang Yishan said that the DPP has always emphasized the importance of democracy and peace. In the face of the expansion of authoritarianism, it is committed to maintaining cooperative relations with partners with similar global ideas. It is also willing to seek equality, justice, and peace with any country, including China if there is an open opportunity for dialogue.

Yang Yishan, on behalf of the Democratic Progressive Party, thanked many countries, including the United States, for their continued attention to Taiwan and their actions to support peace across the Taiwan Strait.

Regarding cross-strait relations, Wu Junxi pointed out that all countries in the world are very clear that it is China, not Taiwan, that is challenging the international situation and the status quo in the Taiwan Strait. Democracy, let alone freedom, the DPP is a political party that advocates peace. It will not give up any opportunity to seek peace, but it will not sacrifice Taiwan's precious democracy and freedom.

Members of the delegation expressed great interest in how Taiwan responds to misinformation, and shared actual cases of state government departments and educational fields restricting the use of TikTok, as well as how to strengthen publicity and improve users' literacy skills. Ruan Junda said that false information is a very serious issue in Taiwan, causing serious harm to all generations in Taiwan. He also took TikTok as an example. Although the contents of the videos are light-hearted, Chinese videos, advertisements and ideology are included in the middle. So Taiwan's public sector currently has considerable restrictions on employees using the software.

Members of the delegation asked about the response to issues related to Taiwan's child reduction, labor force development, and education. Ruan Junda explained the reform of the childcare and long-term care system, as well as social housing and rent subsidy programs to help young people start families. Qiu Wenli said that in response to the declining number of children, the government has introduced more generous subsidies in recent years to encourage women and even men to take parental leave to take care of children, send children to daycare and school, and through quasi-public management and subsidies, significantly reduce the burden of childcare on young parents, and a more friendly workplace environment are also the goals that the government is working hard to promote and improve.

Li Yanrong shared the DPP's efforts on gender equality and promoting progressive values. Regarding the reflections caused by artificial intelligence, she said that due to the recent rise of artificial intelligence, many people worry that artificial intelligence will replace office jobs. But many technical jobs today are not easily replaced by artificial intelligence, but artificial intelligence is indeed a challenge of the times.

The delegation will leave Taiwan tomorrow and return to the United States. The members who visited Taiwan for the first time specially shared the most impressive things about Taiwan during this trip. Mu Haike, a member of the group, mentioned that as an ethnic minority, he can empathize with similar experiences. He was very moved by Taiwan’s efforts to speak out for itself, its pursuit of equality, and the collective awareness of self-determination of the Taiwanese people; E Xinya said that she has a deep understanding of Taiwan's democratic process and current situation. After returning to the United States, she will try my best to share what she has seen and heard. She will also call on the United States to pay more attention to the Taiwan issue.

The "American Young Political Leaders Association" is a national organization sponsored by the U.S. government and adopts a bipartisan cooperation model. Its members are all young leaders with political potential. The association has interacted with Taiwan for more than 30 years, and the two sides have frequent and friendly interactions. Before the epidemic, the Republic of China (Taiwan) regularly invited ACYPL to organize delegations to visit Taiwan to promote the understanding of young American political leaders and deepen Taiwan-US relations. This is the first time ACYPL has organized a delegation to visit Taiwan after the epidemic, which is particularly meaningful.

It is pointed out that the delegation of the American Young Political Leaders Association was accompanied by Senator Chris Larson of Wisconsin and cross-party youth representatives from the American business and political circles, including Chelsea Chaney, state government affairs consultant of American Family Insurance Company, Zachary Goodrich, Director and Legal Counsel, Iowa Council on Ethics and Elections, Hector Mujica, Director of Economic Development Opportunities, Google.org Americas, Exin, Executive Director, State Education Committee, Pennsylvania Senate Cynthia Urban, Lisa Wagor, Senior Manager of Grassroots and Citizen Engagement at Target, and Matthew Whittley, Deputy Prosecutor of the Felony Division of the Indiana County Prosecutor's Office)

On 18 March 2014, the "Sunflower Student Movement" broke out in Taiwan, protesting against the Kuomintang-led Legislative Yuan forcibly passing the review of the "Cross-Strait Service Trade Agreement." Students and civic groups occupied the Legislative Yuan until 10 April 2014. It is generally believed that the Sunflower Student Movement was initiated by students and civic groups out of dissatisfaction with the Ma Ying-jeou government's pro-China policy and the student movement was alleged to be led by the CIA.

CVERC is a specialized agency in CCP China to discover and deal with computer viruses and network attacks, and to safeguard the security of the communist country's network and important information systems. On 4 May, the agency released the "Investigative Report on the Matrix" in cooperation with the "Qihoo 360" company - the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) (Part 1), pointing out that the U.S. CIA has been secretly implementing "peaceful evolution" around the world for a long time. " and "colour revolution". After entering the 21st century, the rapid development of the Internet has provided new opportunities for the US CIA. Organizations and individuals using US network equipment and software products around the world have become puppet "agents" of the US CIA and helped it quickly become a shining star in the cyber espionage war.

According to the report statistics, for decades, the CIA of the United States has overthrown or tried to overthrow the legitimate governments of more than 50 other countries (but the CIA of the United States only recognizes 7 of them), causing turmoil in related countries, such as the impact of the international socialist camp in the 1980s and the 1990s. Upheavals in the early Soviet Union and East (Velvet Revolution), Georgia "Rose Revolution" in 2003, Ukraine "Orange Revolution" in 2004, Kyrgyzstan "Tulip Revolution" in 2005, West Asian and North African countries "Arab Spring" in 2011, Ukraine "Secondary Revolution" in 2014, the "Color Revolution" and the "Sunflower Student Movement" in Taiwan have been identified as typical cases of "colour revolutions" led by U.S. intelligence agencies.

There have also been attempted "colour revolutions" in other countries, such as the "Snowflake Revolution" in Belarus in March 2005, the "Orange Storm" in Azerbaijan in June 2005, the "Cedar Revolution" in Lebanon in 2005, and the "Cedar Revolution" in Myanmar in 2007. "Saffron Revolution", Iran's "Green Revolution" in 2009, etc.

According to the report, comprehensive analysis of various technologies in the above-mentioned incidents, communications and on-site command have become the decisive factors affecting the success or failure of the incident. These technologies of the United States are in a leading position in the world. Especially in the 1980s, the United States promoted the Internet to the world, and it was generally accepted by countries all over the world. This provided the unprecedented possibility for the U.S. intelligence and political departments to launch a "colour revolution".

The CCP’s latest big change will lead to catastrophe

After the Yangtze River flood in 1998, Chinese intellectuals searched for the cause of the Yangtze River flood and found that deforestation in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River was the main reason.

News (12)

Forestation encouages water conservation

The newspaper published an article by Wang Weiluo, a water conservancy expert living in Germany, saying that forests are the most complex, functional and stable terrestrial ecosystems on the earth. Its functions include providing fuel, providing wood, conserving water and soil, preventing wind and sand, regulating climate, purifying air, reducing smog, beautifying the environment, preventing disasters, and so on.

Chen Changben pointed out in the book "Floods in China": Forestry scientists tell us that the virgin forests in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River are a cornucopia for water conservation. The canopy and root system in the forest can absorb about 30% of the precipitation, and the deciduous vegetation under the forest can store about 30% of the precipitation. The forest area can reduce the peak flow by 70% to 90% compared with the non-forest area. In this way, no matter how heavy the rainfall is absorbed and stored by the forest, it will not easily become a mountain torrent. On the contrary, the actual measurement of the Jinsha River Basin in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River shows that in the dry season, the water yield of areas with good forest vegetation is 2.2 to 2.6 times that of watersheds without forests. That is to say, forests are the most ideal reservoirs for water conservation.

News (13)

CCP shows no regard for forests in favour for dams

The CCP government does not regard forests as the most ideal natural measure for water conservation, but believes that large or super-large reservoirs are the key measures for flood control and drought relief, because they are controlled by people and obey their command and dispatch. In fact, building a large or super-large reservoir will submerge many fertile fields. According to the main data of the third national land survey released on August 26, 2021, China's existing reservoir area is 3.3684 million hectares, or 50.5255 million mu. That is to say, in order to build the reservoir, the reservoir lost 50 million mu of the most fertile valley farmland.

The forest (grass) was returned to plowing, the rice was raised up the hill, and the hillside was organized into terraces with excavators. Even a dam to prevent soil erosion was saved. When a heavy rain comes, the sediment will fall heavily, forming a sediment flow and landslide, and the consequences will be unimaginable.

According to the official report of the Communist Party of China, after the implementation of measures such as returning farmland to forests (grass) in the Yangtze River Basin, the area of soil erosion has been reduced year by year. By 2020, the area of water and soil erosion in the Yangtze River Basin will be reduced to 337,000 square kilometres. It has returned to the level of the 1950s. It should be said that this is a good sign and an improvement after learning from the pain.

News (14)

Flood disasters will continue to worsen in China

Now we have to toss again, we have to return forests (grass) to plowing, and rice to the mountains, and it is still so plausible, what is the in-depth implementation of Xi Jinping’s thought on the rule of law and important expositions on the work of "three rural" work, what is firmly shouldering the political responsibility for food security, What is fighting a beautiful battle of the rule of law to stabilize grain and supply, etc., is to forget the past experience and lessons. Returning forests (grasslands) to farming, raising rice to the mountains, and sending agricultural management to the countryside. In the future, the area of water and soil erosion in China will increase, and flood disasters will continue to worsen. This is foreseeable for every Chinese with basic knowledge.

CCP media blame Hainan sandstorm on Southeast Asian countries

On 29 April 2023, multiple videos were uploaded on mainland social platforms such as Douyin, alleging that they were images of sandstorms in Hainan. Some of them are said to have been filmed on the Danzhou-Baimajing section of the Wanyang Expressway in Hainan. It can be seen in the video that there is a strong wind on the expressway, the sky is full of yellow sand, the visibility is only tens of metres, and the vehicle in front can only be barely recognized through the rear lights. There are also several videos shot in cities, showing that some cities have also been infested, and the sky is full of dust. One of them is said to have been filmed at Xiuying Wanda Plaza in Haikou. In mid-April, land media reported that China's meteorological satellites had also detected dusty weather on Hainan Island.

The CCP has always attributed the sandstorms in the north to the "Desert of Outer Mongolia". When the CCP Chinese media reported on the dust in Hainan, they reported it had nothing to do with the "sandstorm in Outer Mongolia", they "dumped the blame" to the so-called "Southeast Asian countries to burn wasteland".

Forests are being cut down, unstopped and may cause another ecological disaster

All over China, forests are being cut down, and even the hillsides that were originally covered with vegetation are being "transformed" into bare "terraces". In case of heavy rain, mudslides or landslides may occur, and in case of strong wind, dust may be rolled up in the sky.

The Central Meteorological Observatory of the Communist Party of China issued a blue rainstorm warning on 4 May 2023. It is expected that there will be heavy rainfall in Jianghan, Huanghuai, Jianghuai and other places, and nine provinces will be hit by heavy rain. There were heavy rainfall in southern and eastern Hubei, southern Anhui, northeastern Hunan, central and northern Jiangxi, western Zhejiang, southern Jiangsu, Shandong Peninsula, southern Liaoning, and eastern Hebei. For the "returning forests to farmland" renovation project recently promoted by the CCP, it may immediately bring another ecological disaster.
