The U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan caused extreme dissatisfaction on the mainland. The mainland also announced that it will conduct military exercises near the Taiwan Strait from 4 to 7 August, causing the outside world to worry about whether air and sea transportation will be affected. In this regard, the Executive Yuan revealed at a press conference today that 8 routes will be affected and announced relevant countermeasures.
At the press conference, Minister of Transportation Wang Cai said that the mainland will conduct military exercises with Taiwan, which just fills the Taipei FIR, so 8 air routes will be affected. In normal operation, all aircraft bound for North America and Northeast Asia will be diverted to the Fukuoka Information Region of Japan; routes to Southeast Asia and South such as New Zealand and Australia will be routed to the Manila FIR of the Philippines. However, the flight time may be extended, and domestic flights will not be affected.
As for the shipping part, Wang Guocai pointed out that in the past, shipping was handled by avoiding the exercise area. Today, a ship announcement has been issued, reminding all ships to avoid entering the military exercise area for the past three days; fishing boats should also avoid 6 working areas.
Wang Guocai said that key inspections will be carried out on key infrastructure such as the Taiwan Railway, high-speed rail, and national highways.
Wang Guocai then explained the land area.
