President of the Republic of Guatemala, Giammattei, visited the Legislative Yuan of our country today (25th) and wrote in the guest signature book: "It is a great honor to visit the National Assembly of Taiwan. We will continue to work together for a free, sovereign and independent Taiwan. Work hard”; Legislative President You Si-kun called Giammattei's delegation “an old friend who is sincere and sincere”, and emphasized that only when democratic countries are united and show the courage to firmly oppose authoritarianism, can dictatorship be unable to engulf a free and democratic country.

The world must maintain and expand recognition and support for Taiwan's sovereignty and independence. Taiwan is a model of national development and progress. The world needs Taiwan to stand on the international stage.
Giammattei said that Guatemala is the only country in Central America that has an unbreakable diplomatic relationship with Taiwan. It has been so in the past, it is still the same now, and it will not change in the future. Guatemala supports Taiwan's territorial integrity and its commitment to Taiwan's friendship. Guatemala President Giammattei visited Taiwan and gave a speech at the Legislative Yuan on 25 April 2023. Some media alleged that he mentioned "the Republic of China is the only and real China." Regarding this, the Republic of China (Taiwan)’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in the evening to clarify that what Giammattei said in his speech at the Legislative Yuan yesterdays morning was that “Guatemala maintains its consistent position and supports the recognition of Taiwan as an independent country, which is also a “only and true country" (una única y verdadera nación). Therefore, based on the principle of inclusiveness and universality of the United Nations, Guatemala supports Taiwan's rights in the United Nations agencies." Giammattei did not say "the only and real China".The translation of the word did not restore the true meaning.
In response to Mao Ning's response, the ROC MFA Affairs stated, "My country's interaction with allies is a fundamental right of a sovereign state, and it is also a concrete practice of solidarity among democratic countries. Other countries are not allowed to comment on it, let alone a fact that can be changed by the pressure and coercion of the Chinese authoritarian government. The ROC MFA once again expresses its solemn protest and condemnation to the CCP for the Communist foreign ministry's repeated self-deprecation of national dignity and insulting the heads of state of our friendly countries with extremely disrespectful words.
The ROC MFA finally emphasized that "The Republic of China (Taiwan) is a sovereign and independent country, and it is not affiliated with the People's Republic of China. We should promote diplomatic work based on sovereignty and strive for Taiwan's due international status."

According to comprehensive media reports, a new box jellyfish scientifucally named "Tripedalia maipoensis" was discovered in the Mai Po Nature Reserve in Hong Kong. It lives in the Mai Po mangrove estuary and fish pond wetlands. The oar jellyfish has 24 eyes and 12 tentacles, with 6 on one side of the eyes arranged in a cubic bell shape around it.
Professor Qiu Jianwen, a professor of the Department of Biology of Hong Kong Baptist University, pointed out that the newly discovered Mai Po three-paddle jellyfish belongs to the family Triscaridae, which is the fourth species of Triscariaceae in the world and the third described Triscaria genus species. Their bodies are transparent and colourless, with an average body width of 1.5 cm. They have four horns, and each horn is connected to three tentacles each about 10 cm long. They are believed to be used to prey on tiny planktonic crustaceans in the water.
There is a flat paddle-shaped structure at the bottom of the tentacle of the Mai Po three-paddle jellyfish, which is like a boat oar, allowing the box jellyfish to generate a strong thrust when contracting its body, so it can swim faster than other jellyfish.
Professor Qiu said, "The box jellyfish is a small group of cnidaria. Currently, there are only 49 recorded species in the world, and little is known in Chinese waters." He emphasized that the newly discovered jellyfish reflects the high biological diversity in the oceans of Hong Kong and China.

International flights to CCP China have recovered

Previously, on 18 April 2023, the Civil Aviation Administration stated at a press conference that since 8 January 2023, it has accepted applications from Chinese and foreign airlines to resume and increase international passenger flights. Since then, international passenger flights have maintained a steady increase, especially in the summer and autumn seasons of 2023 and driven the accelerated recovery of international flights.
Judging from the actual implementation of international passenger flights, the number of international passenger flights actually implemented during the week from 10 to 16 April 2023 has reached 2,242 (each round-trip is counted as 1 flight), which is the first time before the implementation of "Class B and B Control". 4.7 times in one week (2 tro 8 January), it recovered to 29.4% before the epidemic, and the airlines fly to 59 countries, returning to 82% of the pre-epidemic.
Among the airlines, Chinese airlines executed 1379.5 flights, accounting for 61.5%; foreign airlines executed 862.5 flights, accounting for 38.5%. From the perspective of countries, the top five countries with the most flights to CCP China are Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia, and the number of flights in the surrounding traditional markets has increased significantly.
