American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) President Laura Rosenberger visited Taiwan for the first time from today (18) to 23. The Republic of China (Taiwan) Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its sincere welcome to Rosenberger who arranged to come to Taiwan immediately after taking office on 20 March 2023. During her stay in Taiwan, Rosenberger will call on senior officials of the Chinese republic government and officials from relevant ministries and commissions to discuss Taiwan-US relations, regional security, trade and investment, and other topics in an in-depth exchange of views.

Rosenberger took over as the chairman of AIT about a month ago. After taking office, she can be seen on many Taiwan-US interaction occasions. When she took office, AIT had announced that Rosenberger would visit Taiwan on behalf of the US government in addition to participating in Taiwan-related policy-level discussions.

According to the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), this is Rosenberger's first visit to Taiwan! Rosenberger was elected as the chairman by the AIT Washington Headquarters Council. She usually assists in supervising the management and operation of AIT in Washington, and provides advice on Taiwan-related policies. During  Rosenberger's visit to Taiwan, she will meet with relevant people and business representatives in Taiwan to discuss issues that both sides attach great importance to, such as US-Taiwan relations, regional security, trade and investment.

Rosenberger is Biden's chief China adviser and was the senior director of China and Taiwan affairs at the White House National Security Council before taking over as the chairperson of AIT. She has long been engaged in foreign policy formulation and has held a series of positions in the State Department and the National Security Council, including chief of staff to then Deputy Secretary of State Blinken, senior adviser to then Deputy National Security Advisor Blinken, and China and South Korea affairs at the National Security Council. She is also Director, head of the bilateral political group of the China Office of the State Council, special assistant for Asia-Pacific affairs to Undersecretary of Political Affairs Burns, and diplomats of the Korean Affairs Office of the State Council.

The Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated today that Rosenberger has held many important positions in the State Department and the National Security Council of the White House, and has closely interacted with the top national security officials of the  Republic of China (Taiwan) government and officials stationed in the United States. During President Tsai Ing-wen's "Partners for Democracy and Common Prosperity Journey" a few days ago, when she was in New York and Los Angeles, Rosenberger also greeted her personally and accompanied her throughout the trip, fully demonstrating the highly courteous arrangement of the Biden-Harris administration towards the visit of the Chinese head of state.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the United States share the same philosophy and common goals for regional peace, stability, and prosperity, as well as the maintenance of shared values such as democracy and human rights. It is believed that this trip will help Rosenberger to gain an in-depth understanding of the Republic of China's current situation and related cooperation issues. The Chinese republic government also looks forward to working closely with  Rosenberger and her team to further enhance the all-round cooperation between Taiwan and the United States on the basis of the existing solid foundation and close partnership.

Trump calls for investigations into Soros-funded DA's, Communists, Anti-Christian Persecutors

Image of Trump : National File

President Trump is calling for investigations into the Soros-funded prosecutors and devout communists who have infiltrated and weaponized America’s legal system, using the levers of power to attack Christians and other groups of American Patriots standing in the way of the total destruction of the Republic.

President Trump released a video statement announcing portions of his “Agenda 47” plan to save America, a centerpiece of his 2024 run for the presidency. Under Agenda 47, Trump says that he will take on the weaponization of the American justice system and “completely overhaul” the corrupt DOJ and FBI.

There is no greater “threat to the American way of life than the corruption and weaponization of our justice system,” President Trump said, adding, “If we cannot restore the fair and impartial rule of law, we will not be a free country.”

To take on the nationwide network of Soros-owned prosecutors (like Alvin Bragg) who are directing much of the political persecution of patriots and the perversion of American law, President Trump said that he will “appoint US Attorneys who will be the polar opposite of the Soros district attorneys and others that are being appointed throughout the United States.”

“They will be the 100 most ferocious warriors against crime and communist corruption that this country has ever seen,” President Trump vowed.

“As we completely overhaul the federal Department of Justice and FBI, we will also launch sweeping civil rights investigations into Marxist local district attorneys – and that’s what we have, we have Marxists in many cases.”

“By refusing to charge countless crimes, the Soros prosecutors appear to be engaging in selective enforcement based on illegal racial discrimination,” Trump said, highlighting the inner city free-for-all of violent crime that’s being waged against White and Asian Americans.

“In Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and every other city where these maniacs have taken over, the DA’s offices should face federal subpoenas of their staff, their emails, and their records to determine whether they have blatantly violated federal civil rights laws.”

“As part of this effort, there should be a federal inquiry into the Soros prosecutor in Austin, Texas, who charged a veteran with murder for defending himself against a threat from a heavily armed member of a radical left mob,” said President Trump, highlighting the murder conviction of US Army Sgt. Daniel Perry, who was cleared by the Austin Police in the self-defense shooting before being persecuted by Austin’s Soros-owned DA.

Because of Sgt. Perry’s phony conviction and others like it, President Trump says that under Agenda 47 he will establish a DOJ task force to protect Americans’ right to self-defense.

“I will do whatever it takes to save our legal system,” President Trump vowed, adding that the American legal system ranks “among the greatest achievements of Western Civilization.”

Brazilian hackers linked to Lula arrested in Paraguay Election Rigging Scheme

Brazilian hackers linked to the country’s left-wing President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Lula), have been arrested in the neighboring nation of Paraguay where they had traveled in what authorities say was an attempt to rig the upcoming Paraguayan Presidential Election by hacking into its computer servers, much in the same way that Brazil’s recent election is alleged to have been rigged and stolen.

According to emerging reports and government statements, 20 hackers linked to Lula and the left-wing Brazilian Workers’ Party illegally entered Paraguay “with the aim of interfering in the April 30 elections.” It is on April 30th that the South American nation will go to the polls for a presidential election, which is expected to be a close competition between the right-wing Colorado Party and the left-wing Authentic Radical Liberal Party (PLRA).

Efrain Alegre is suppported by Lula, Schwab, his campaign close to the election theft scheme is exposed

Image of Efrain Alegre (middle) above, ex-senator and opposition leader of Paraguay, who said he might switch Paraguay's Chinese diplomatic ties from Taipei to Beijing if he won the April 30 Election : Efrain Alegre Facebook

The PLRA candidate, Efrain Alegre, is not just being supported by Lula and a wide swath of Latin American leftists, but by the World Economic Forum, as Klaus Schwab has expressed his support for the campaign. Based on the current information, Alegre’s campaign appears close to the election theft scheme.

Despite being a sparsely populated landlocked nation, Parguay plays a pivotal role in geopolitics and has long been a hotbed for government and NGO-backed drug trafficking, with the nation’s vast jungles serving as a cover for massive trafficking and drug production operations.

“URGENT: The Public Ministry of Paraguay is investigating the illegal stay of 20 Brazilian hackers who entered the country illegally with the aim of interfering in the April 30 elections,” reported Brazilian journalist Oswaldo Eustáquio, who currently lives in Paraguay, having fled political persecution from the left-wing Lula government in his native Brazil.

“[The] Digital criminals are directly linked to Lula’s team in 2022,” Eustáquio explained.

“The hackers are staying in the same building” as the son of PLRA candidate, Efrain Alegre, Eustáquio reported in a Twitter thread, adding that Alegre’s wife is also connected and that Alegre is indeed supported by Brazil’s Lula, the beneficiary of Brazil’s 100% electronic election, which is believed to have been hacked and rigged in one of the most brazen cases of election fraud in world history.

In addition to their connections to Lula and the Brazilian Worker’s Party and their apparently deep ties to left-wing Paraguyan Efrain Alegre, the hackers have been waging an election attack campaign throughout the current Paraguayan election cycle.

Paraguay government receives intelligence report showing Brazilian interference in run-up to Paraguay election
“Members of the Chamber of Deputies of Paraguay already make a direct connection between the hackers and the Workers’ Party of Brazil,” Eustáquio reported, before explaining in another tweet that “The National Republican Association which controls the Colorado Party…received an intelligence report revealing that there had already been hacker attacks during the party’s internal meetings, that is, there had already been international interference.”
Perhaps proving his complicity and intimate knowledge of the election hacking operation, left-wing Paraguayan candidate Efrain Alegre was caught in a WhatsApp chat in the aftermath of the hacker’s arrest “guaranteeing” that there will be no proper investigation into the plot.

On 17 April 2023, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested two CCP agents suspected of acting as agents of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) government in New York. Dissidents in the United States, according to the content of the lawsuit filed by the New York District Court, pointed out that in addition to pretending to be American soldiers, some people set up some fake accounts of white people to join associations in various parts of the United States, and looked for opportunities to spread pro-China information, or use these accounts to harass and threaten many human rights activists.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested two Chinese agents serving the Beijing authorities in New York and accused them of running a "Chinese secret police station" in Manhattan's Chinatown. Although they have U.S. citizenship, they are accused of acting as agents of the Chinese government, operating an overseas "Chinese Secret Police", and cooperating with the Chinese police to force fugitives regarded as dissidents by China to return home.

They create a large number of fake accounts on the software, and use them to promote relevant content that is beneficial to China and the Chinese Communist Party, as well as attacking dissidents, and even sneak into the online activities of dissidents to interfere or cause trouble.

The content of the lawsuit also mentions that in order to facilitate the use of a large number of fake accounts, they are also equipped with a large number of mobile phones and computer equipment. Some photos even show that they use a large number of Apple mobile phones and Apple computers, and there are stickers on different mobile phones and computers, which are stickers of different classification levels.

The indictment also lists the names and photos of these people one by one, as well as related crimes. Hu Xiaohui, Huang Chunhui, Jin Yi, Ju Qiang, Li Bolun, Li Xuan, Li Xueyang, Li Zhefeng, Liang Shuang, Lin Yuqiong, also known as Lin Huishan, Liu Zhaoxi, Miao Shihui, Shi Liangtian, SONG YANG (I) ( SONG Yang), SONG YANG (II) (Song Yang), Tan Jinyan, Wang Chunjie, Wang Shipeng, Wen Jianxun, Xi Shu, Xi Yue (or Qi Dong), Xu Yanan, Xu Zhen, Xue Wenfeng, alias Xu Feng, Yang Dalin, Yang Miao, Yin Yina, Yu Miao, Zhang Di, Zhou Guoqiang and others.

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested two Chinese agents in New York on Monday and accused dozens of people who have not yet been charged with putting pressure on people with different political ideas in the United States.

According to comprehensive foreign media reports, men Lu Jianwang (61 years old,  transliteration) and Chen Jinping (59 years old, transliteration) were arrested at their home in New York. The men, both U.S. citizens, have been charged with allegedly acting as agents of the Chinese Communist government and obstructing justice, and both face up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Lu and Chen jointly established the first secret police station in the United States on behalf of the CCP Ministry of Public Security but CCP China has previously denied operating the sites as a secret police service, calling them "service centers" for nationals abroad.

The two appeared in court on Monday. Lu paid US$250,000 (approximately NT$7.62 million) and Chen paid US$400,000 (approximately NT$12.19 million). They were not allowed to travel within half a mile of a Chinese Communist consulate or mission, or communicate with co-conspirators. Neither entered a plea.

The "overseas police station" has been closed since a search warrant was executed at the location last fall, according to John Marzulli, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York.

The U.S. Department of Justice also charged 34 unaccounted-for members living in China who were members of an elite task force of the Chinese government's "912 Special Project Task Force" that sought out and harassed Chinese dissidents around the world to suppress them from criticizing the Chinese Communist government, and create and use fake social media accounts to target and harass dissidents in the United States, even death threats.

CBS NEWS reported that the "912" organization operated a troll farm of thousands of fake social media profiles on Twitter and other sites to spread CCP government propaganda and recruited agents in the United States to do the same things.

On 17 April 2023, U.S. law enforcement officers arrested two U.S. citizens suspected of setting up a "Chinese overseas secret police station" in New York. It is alleged that one of the suspects, Lu Jianwang, led the expats take part in protests mobilized by China.

61-year-old Lu Jianwang and 59-year-old Chen Jinping are accused of secretly accepting instructions from the CCP government to monitor, suppress and harass dissidents in the name of overseas Chinese associations and assisting overseas Chinese. The U.S. prosecutors allege that the two represented the Fuzhou Branch of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security and established the first overseas police station in the U.S. early last year. Among them, Lu Jianwang participated in many activities in the U.S., such as during CCP President Xi Jinping’s visit to the U.S. in 2015. Lu once harassed Falun Gong practitioners in Washington, and was awarded by officials of the Ministry of Public Security of China.

President Tsai Ing-wen, who visited allied countries from the end of March to the beginning of April, and transited in the United States, was harassed by Chinese mobilized expatriates in New York. Recently, after Lu Jianwang was arrested, some netizens shared relevant pictures on the Internet, saying that Lu had also been protesting in English against Tsai in the past outside the hotel where he was staying.

According to comprehensive media reports, Lu Jianwang is the general counsel of the Changle Association and one of the co-chairmen of the Fujian Association of the United States. There was a long-term dispute over the chairmanship of the Fujian Association of the United States. The association was just announced on 18 March 2023 with 3 co-chairs. It can also be seen through the Facebook fan page of the "American Fujian Association" that Lu Jianwang was congratulated as the 80th acting chairman in April 2022.

At the end of March this year, the Chinese-language newspaper "World Journal" in the United States published a full-page advertisement to protest President Tsai's transit in the United States. The "American Fujian Association" was also listed among more than 100 Chinese overseas organizations protesting, and the association ranked 10th.

As for Chen Jinping, who is also a member of the Changle Association in the United States, the news of the arrest of the two people shocked the overseas Chinese in Fujian.

G7 foreign ministers meeting joint statement to support Taiwan to join WHA, WHO

Report by : Lin Cuiyi / https://news.ltn.com.tw/news/world/breakingnews/4274006 / Image:  The G7 foreign ministers issued a joint statement re-emphasizing the importance of "peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait to the international community" and expressly supported Taiwan's participation in international organizations as full members, observers or guests, including the World Health Assembly (WHA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) ) technical meetings, etc. (European News Agency)

The meeting of foreign ministers of the seven major industrial countries (G7) held in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, Japan concluded on 18 April 2023.  It expressly supports Taiwan to participate in international organizations as full member, observer or guest, including the World Health Assembly (WHA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) technical meetings.

Also on CCP China, the statement emphasized its strong opposition to CCP's attempts to change the status quo through power and coercion, and expressed serious concern about the current situation in the East China Sea and South China Sea. Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi said at the press conference that the G7 confirmed in the form of a document for the first time that Japan attaches great importance to participating in a free and open international order based on the rule of law, and strongly opposes attempts to change the status quo anywhere in the world. In order to deal with the pressing issues of the international community, he hopes that the foreign ministers of all countries will work together for the upcoming Hiroshima summit.

The joint statement again condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine in the strongest possible terms and demanded the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Russian troops. The G7 will continue to provide aid to Ukraine, while demanding that third countries stop supplying arms to Russia.

The G7 foreign ministers' meeting is regarded as the prelude to the G7 leaders' summit, and the tone of many international issues has almost been set in the foreign ministers' meeting. As this year's presidency, Japan has played a leading role in setting and discussing topics to a certain extent.

This year's focus theme, in addition to the Russia-Ukraine war, is also the focus of how to deal with China's expansion of hegemony and increased military pressure on Taiwan. Especially on the part of Taiwan security, this year's statement is "We reiterate that the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait is an indispensable and important factor for the security and prosperity of the international community, and urge the peaceful resolution of the cross-strait issue. The basic position of the G7 members on the Taiwan issue (including the stated "One China Policy") has not changed. "

With regard to Taiwan's participation in international organizations, the statement further stated that "we support Taiwan's meaningful participation in international organizations, including technical meetings of the World Health Assembly (WHA) and the World Health Organization (WHO). "The international community should benefit from the experience of all partners."

The joint statement of the G7 foreign ministers meeting held in the UK in May 2021 directly mentioned Taiwan for the first time. In April of that year, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and US President Biden held a summit in Washington, and included peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait for the first time in the joint statement Importance, later including the G7 foreign ministers' meeting and the G7 leaders' summit, both touched on Taiwan and included the same content. This is also the first time that EU countries such as Germany and France have stated that they are in sync with the United States on the Taiwan Strait issue.

However, French President Emmanuel Macron visited China last week and made remarks related to Taiwan, saying that he "will not follow the United States on the Taiwan issue", causing an uproar. Whether the host, Japan, can integrate various countries in the meeting and reach a consensus on China policy has also become the focus of the meeting. French Foreign Minister Colonne, who accompanied Macron on his visit to China, said in an interview with NHK before the meeting that "France believes that the situation in Taiwan should not be changed unilaterally," emphasizing that France's position has not changed so far.

Interestingly, the first day of the G7 foreign ministers' meeting coincided with Colonne's birthday. Lin Fang was preparing an apple pie for Colonna at the working dinner that night. The apple pie was John Lennon's dessert when he visited Karuizawa. Lincoln also congratulated Colonna, and the atmosphere was harmonious. Colonna also expressed in the working dinner that she opposes unilaterally changing the status quo with power and hopes to resolve cross-strait issues peacefully. She also explained that Macron also conveyed the same idea to CCP President Xi Jinping.

This year's G7 foreign ministers' joint statement not only increased the length of Taiwan's part, but also specifically mentioned that "if the national nature is not a necessary condition for Taiwan's participation in international organizations, it will participate as a full member; if nationality is a necessary condition, it will be an observer." Or guests to participate.” The expert in the details should be the result of Japanese leadership.

German Foreign Minister: The situation in the Taiwan Strait must cool down and relations with China must be de-risked

The heads of foreign affairs of the Group of Seven (G7) countries held a meeting in Karuizawa, Japan for three consecutive days starting from 16 April 2023. The discussions focused on CCP China's continued provocations against Taiwan and the Indo-Pacific region. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock warned at the meeting that CCP is trying to replace international rules with "its own rules". Provocative actions such as the construction of artificial islands in the disputed South China Sea, for example, endanger the international order in the Indo-Pacific region.

In addition, in response to Macron's recent visit to claim that Europe should avoid "a crisis that is not its own," Baerbock also responded that Europeans "should not shrink back into our shells and limit ourselves just because European peace is under attack." Only in defense of peace in Europe". Europeans should act autonomously with a broader worldview, she said, "especially when other people's sudden actions endanger us or others."

Baerbock also pointed out in an interview with ZDF that half of the world's trade passes through the Taiwan Strait every day. Once a conflict breaks out, the whole world will be affected. Therefore, it is necessary to cool down the situation in the Taiwan Strait. This has established consensus.

Baerbock emphasized that dealings with Beijing should not be too naive, ignoring the changes in China in recent years; when German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited Beijing last October, he paid attention to CCP China's human rights and reminded the importance of free navigation in the Taiwan Strait. She also emphasized that the EU has no intention of "decoupling" with China, but it is necessary to strengthen economic security and promote "de-risking", and cannot repeat past mistakes in relations with Russia.

Baerbock said that Europe has dealt with Russia in the past, thinking that trade was sufficient as a strategy but it ended up paying high political and economic costs. Such a serious mistake cannot be repeated.

In response to Baerbock's recent visit to China and her warnings to Beijing against military provocations in the Taiwan Strait, and Germany and the G7 will not sit back and watch the situation in the Taiwan Strait escalate, CCP Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin responded on 17 April that "relevant countries" should realize that "the Taiwan issue is China's internal affair that does not allow any external interference" which "undermines the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait" and urge them to stop making "irresponsible remarks".

Fighting back against the CCP, Taiwan’s ambassador to Germany uttered what the Central Committee of Xi fears the most

"In 1990, the unification of Germany was the unification of the free and democratic West Germany with the one-party dictatorship of the autocratic East Germany." Hsieh said that the communist regime and the Berlin Wall collapsed one after the other. If the two sides of the Taiwan Strait want to unify, then take it step by step. In 1972, both East and West Germany joined the United Nations. In 1989, the Berlin Wall fell along with the Communist regime in East Germany. Based on this, let's make a timetable to see when Taiwan will join the United Nations before reunification. Then see when the CCP regime collapses, and talk about reunification in the second year.

Wang Yi, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Communist Party of China, met with visiting German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (pictured above) in Beijing on 15 April 2023. Wang Yi asked Germany to support the reunification of the mainland and Taiwan on the grounds that the CCP had supported the "unification of East and West Germany." In this regard, Hsieh Chi-wei, the ambassador of the Republic of China to Germany, refuted Wang Yi's unified statement, and believed that it is possible to talk about cross-strait reunification only after the collapse of the CCP.

The website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China reported that when Wang Yi met with Annalena Baerbock, he stated that CCP China had supported the reunification of Germany and "hoped and believed that Germany would also support China's great cause of peaceful reunification." Wang Yi also said: "Taiwan's return to China is an important part of the international order after World War II."

Hsieh Chi-wei pointed out the history of the unification of East and West Germany in a Facebook post, and explained why the democratic and free world opposes the CCP's annexation of Taiwan. Hsieh said that German Foreign Minister Ms. Baerbock did not respond to Wang Yi's statement, she was too polite. What she thought in her heart, but did not say it, he came to help her write it down:

Seizure of Taiwan is disastrous to every country

Hsieh Chi-wei said that Baerbock has repeatedly told the CCP regime one thing: Germany, like the European Union, the United States and Japan and other G7 powers, cannot accept the use of any force by the CCP to change the status quo of the Taiwan Strait! This isn't the first time Baerbock has said something like this. However, the difference this time is that Baerbock added Germany’s reasons for opposing the CCP’s use of force to resolve the Taiwan Strait issue. In addition to democracy, Germany, and even the world’s major trading countries, of course cannot tolerate the CCP’s seizure of Taiwan, because it is her specific reasons for this are now also posted on the website of the German Foreign Ministry.

"Fifty percent of the global trade and logistics freight goes through the Taiwan Strait. Once the situation in the (Taiwan Strait) changes, it will bring extremely serious consequences to every country in the world. The tsunami shock effect of this world economic crisis will also hit the same China (the Communist Party) and Germany are trading countries." In fact, Baerbock also said another reason why she cannot accept the CCP's seizure of Taiwan: "Seventy percent of the world's semiconductors are made in Taiwan."

Hsieh Chi-wei : The reason for supporting Taiwan has changed to the "common interest level"

Hsieh Chi-wei said that these show that the reason for the support of Taiwan in the traditional free world has changed from the previous "common moral level (democracy is supportive of democracy)" to the "common interest level". He expects that their third reason for supporting Taiwan will soon come to the surface: "Based on Taiwan's key position in the Indo-Pacific strategic alliance, the free world cannot allow Taiwan to fall into the hands of the dictatorial China (Communist Party) anyway! "

Hsieh Chi-wei: Taiwan is the Martinez of the "Indo-Pacific strategic alliance"

A few days ago, Hsie once told a media reporter who interviewed him about French President Macron’s remarks on Taiwan that in the World Cup last year, France had Mbappé on goal, and Argentina had Messi on goal. Why did Argentina win and France lose? Because: Argentina has a Martínez in goal, France does not! He bluntly said that Taiwan is the Martinez of the Indo-Pacific strategic alliance! If Taiwan does not give up, half of the victory is already won. If you don't give up on Taiwan, you will continue to win the other half.

Republic of China (Taiwan) sues India for raising tariffs on information and communication products, WTO ruled in favour

Reporter : Lu Yixuan / https://ec.ltn.com.tw/article/breakingnews/4274370 / Image : India violated global trade rules in a dispute with the European Union, Japan and Taiwan over tariffs on imports of information technology products, a WTO review panel said on the 17th. (Reuters)

The World Trade Organization (WTO) announced on 17 April 2023 that the Republic of China (Taiwan) had won the case against India for raising tariffs on information and communication products. The Economic and Trade Negotiation Office of the Executive Yuan stated that Taiwan’s exports to India involved in this case reached 930 million U.S. dollars last year. This successful judgment shows that the republic has used the WTO dispute settlement mechanism to advocate rights and interests for the industry and defend Taiwan’s export interests. The Executive Yuan thanked the deliberation team for supporting Taiwan's claims.

Taiwan's information and communication manufacturers have invested in India in recent years, and must export components from Taiwan. However, in order to protect its domestic industry, the Indian government has raised tariffs on 32 types of information and communication products since 2014, including mobile phones, base stations, handheld handsets and other information and communication product parts. The adjustment range is as high as 20% in terms of commitment to zero-tariff treatment for similar products.

The Economic and Trade Office said that because the information and communication industry is a highly competitive project in Taiwan, it invited stakeholders such as the Taipei Computer Association and relevant units to conduct multiple discussions. The European Union and Japan also believed that India's increase of tariffs violated its obligations, so they respectively requested the establishment of review teams, and the proceedings of this case began.

Despite several delays due to the epidemic, the WTO review panel finally released its final report on 17 April 2023, ruling in favor of the plaintiff, affirming that India’s imposition of tariffs on the above-mentioned products violated WTO agreements, and suggested that India should amend its measures to comply with WTO norms.

The Economic and Trade Office stated that India is very likely to file an appeal under the circumstances that the current appeal mechanism is still not functioning well but Taiwan will continue to discuss strategies with the EU and Japan to ensure that India implements the ruling of the review team.

The Economic and Trade Office also emphasized that the WTO is the most important international economic and trade organization Taiwan has participated in. Since the Republic of China joined the WTO, Taiwan has actively fought for the rights and interests of manufacturers through the WTO mechanism. So far, Taiwan has sued 7 cases as the plaintiff, and some of them have reached a settlement through consultation before entering the litigation stage. Of the 4 cases that actually entered the litigation stage, the Republic of China won 3 cases.

The vaccine is useless in preventing XBB.1.16

Wang Xiaodong, a well-known scholar in Beijing: "This covid virus is a new variant. Although it is still Omicron, it has a new one called XBB. Its transmission is stronger, and, well, it seems to be from the past, that is to say, this acquired immunity, whether it is the immunity you get from being infected with the covid virus or the immunity you get from vaccination, is of little use in preventing this kind of XBB virus variant. The upgraded version of the vaccine is actually really not that useful for that.”
