Haze is back in Singapore after three years

Haze has returned to Singapore at night of 12 April 2023 after three years of the covid pandemic. The highest reading as of 8.45 am on 13 April 2023 is 73 which is moderate on the 24 hour PSI scale, in eastern Singapore, followed by 66 in southern Singapore, 65 in central Singapore and 55 in western Singapore.

The good reading 44 is recorded in northern Singapore over the last 24 hours.

A reading range of PSI value above 100 is unhealthy, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, above 201 to 300 very unhealthy and that above 300 is regarded hazardous.

Hot spots are detected in Johor, Sarawak, Sumatra and Kalimantan.

In planning for the 2024 presidential election, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) formally nominated the vice president Lai Ching-te, who is also the chairman of the party to run for the Republic of China (Taiwan) presidency in the afternoon of 12 April 2023. Lai Ching-te says, "2024 is obviously not a choice between war and peace, but a choice between democracy and autocracy. Taiwan is an inalienable part of the country, the country's sovereignty cannot be violated, and the future of Taiwan, the Republic of China, can be decided by only 23 million people."

He also shouted to the other side that once a war is launched against Taiwan, Taiwan will certainly be hurt, but it will also cause a global disaster that the CCP cannot bear. In addition to continuously strengthening the national defense of the whole people and making preparations to protect Taiwan, Lai Ching-te also proposed to strengthen Taiwan economic resilience.

Lai Ching-te adds, "We should also develop and apply emerging technologies such as AIoT, promote the industrialization of artificial intelligence, and allow Taiwan's technology industry to continue to grow. We must also promote industrial artificial intelligence and assist small and medium-sized enterprises in digital transformation, net zero transformation."

Calling out the election goals, including the election of the president with a high number of votes and a separate majority in the Congress, he proposes three major actions including democratic unity, democratic governance, and democratic peace. He emphasizes that Taiwan has no issue of unification and independence, and democracy is the greatest consensus. The line will continue to grow democratic Taiwan.

Macron: France's position on the Taiwan Strait has not changed and supports the maintenance of Taiwan's status quo
