Article 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that individuals who "participate in rebellion or insurrection" cannot hold public office. Some believe that President Trump participated in the "insurrection" during the January 6, 2021 Capitol incident.
On Tuesday (5 September 2023), George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley dismissed this view, saying that this view is "not only suspicious, but also dangerous."
