The Republic of China (Taiwan) Vice President and Democratic Progressive Party presidential candidate Lai Ching-te today accompanied New Taipei City Zhonghe District Legislative Candidate Wu Zheng to visit Dongde Palace to pay incense and hold a temple speech to pray to the gods for the various challenges faced in Taiwan. On the occasion, he also quoted the "Biden-Xi Meeting" and the seven major industrial countries all advocating that "the Taiwan issue is a world issue", emphasizing that this election campaign will determine whether Taiwan will go back to relying on CCP China or stand with other countries in the world. Together, everyone hopes that the people will unite to support him and "trust Taiwan" to embrace a better future.

In the morning, Lai Ching-te, accompanied by New Taipei Party legislator Jiang Yongchang, non-party legislators Lin Changzuo and Wu Zheng, went to Dongde Palace to pay incense and give a speech at the entrance of the temple. Lai Ching-te said that in addition to the recent major news, Ma Wenjun, a member of the Blue Committee, became the first person in history to be convicted of foreign crimes and summoned by prosecutors, the meeting between U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping has caught Taiwan's attention.

The United States opposes CCP China's interference in Taiwan's elections, and there are also international voices opposing CCP's use of force to change the status quo across the Taiwan Strait. Lai Chine-te said that the Taiwanese people have worked together for decades to lay the foundation for democracy and pursue freedom and human rights. Under the leadership of President Tsai Ing-wen, Taiwan's  economy is booming, visibility is increasing, Taiwan is on the shelves, and it is recognized by the international community. He said, "As long as we have confidence in Taiwan and everyone is united, a better future is ahead."

Lai Ching-te said that the Taiwan Strait issue is no longer an issue of the civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party in the past two Chiang Kai-shek eras, nor is it an issue between Taiwan and CCP China, but an international issue. This election campaign is related to the future direction of the country the Republic of China (Taiwan). He said,"We must unite and support those who can protect Taiwan. People, don’t let Taiwan go down the old path of pro-China, autocratic dictatorship. We must stick to our ideals and never listen to the opposition parties casually spreading rumors, especially using war to intimidate the will of the Taiwanese people.”

Lai Ching-te highly recommended Wu Zheng, one of the leaders of the Sunflower Student Movement, and praised him for his bravery in blocking the service trade for the Taiwanese people. "Not only is he handsome in appearance, but he is also quick in thinking and smart in mind." Now he is facing Zhang Qingzhong of the Kuomintang who originally advocated black box service trade. No matter how powerful the opponent is, no matter how strong the family is, it cannot compare with the unity of the people. I hope everyone will give their sacred vote to outstanding young people, let Wu Zheng enter the Congress, and let the country continue to progress."

Blue and white are combined! Lai Ching-te should seriously respond to the policy needs of young people in Taiwan

By : Zhang Tiantai (political worker) / https://talk.ltn.com.tw/article/breakingnews/4492860

A while ago, I saw Li Xiaofeng scolding Ko in "Ask the Young Ko Fans". He seemed to be happy with the grudge, and I was already worried. When the news came out the day before yesterday (15 November 2023) that Blue and White forces had merged, I felt even more uneasy because The DPP has always believed that as long as it defeats Ko, it can win the election and continue to govern. However, it has failed to see the real needs of young people in Taiwan who voted for Ko. The Kuomintang, a century-old party that has long been hated by young people in Taiwan, went so far as to do so for young people this time. To vote, talk about cooperation with the People’s Party, which is only a party of Ko. The major parties and small parties talk about cooperation, just to vote for Ko’s young people, because according to some polls, two of the seven young people in Taiwan turned to Lai and five people voted for Ko. In terms of support among young people, Lai Ching-te, who ranks first in the overall polls, is still behind Ko Wenje!

Lai is not unaware of the problem. Recently, he has been taking off his suit and participating in dialogue activities with Taiwanese youth. Whether it is a university forum or media organization, Lai participates in battles, but the effect is obviously limited, especially for young people aged 20 to 29. They may not know who Lai Ching-te is at all. They do not even know about Lai’s outstanding political achievements as mayor and legislator of Tainan in the past. Some people may have an impression of Lai Ching-te’s appointment as Executive Yuan. Lai’s popularity among young people in Taiwan still needs to be strengthened. , and it cannot be said that young people live in the stratosphere of the Internet world just because they are not well-known among young people. Such operations will only arouse the rebellious psychology of young people, and will not be good for the election.

Just because Lai is not well-known in the youth circle, we cannot say that young people live in the stratosphere of the Internet world. Such an operation will only arouse the rebellious psychology of young people, which is even more detrimental to Lai's election. (File photo)

Especially now that the blue-white alliance has caused concern in the United States. Even Ke Wenzhe mentioned that AIT once called and asked, "Is the Chinese Communist Party involved?" The Blue and White alliance is obviously negotiating in the most black-box way, using coalition cabinet techniques to cover up the division of spoils. According to any political common sense, the Blue and White alliance will bring extreme instability, chaos, and confrontation to Taiwan. Behind it is the totalitarian Chinese Communist Party. In this introduction, if you want to directly lead the future of democratic Taiwan through Blue and White cooperation, you must have a sense of crisis, and then look at major policy issues such as housing justice and the widening gap between rich and poor from the perspective of young people in Taiwan, so as to contribute to Taiwan. Young people are suffering from multiple structural oppressions. To truly put myself in their shoes, if I were a young person in Taiwan, I would have no house, no car, no money, and dare not have children. After working every day, I would only be able to live without seeing anything. Hope for the future, how to settle down, and the totalitarian CCP has subtly integrated the blue and white opposition forces, and successfully implemented a pro-China policy. Currently, there are less than two months left before Taiwan’s presidential election. The opponent that Lai Ching-te really needs to be wary of is not Hou You-ih, who has no sense of existence, nor Ko Wenje, but Xi Jinping, the totalitarian CCP.

After the meeting with Xi Jinping, the US and CCP China have very different statements

Image : Against the background of huge and long-term unresolved differences between the United States and CCP China, and in an atmosphere packed with protesters against the Chinese Communist Party along the road from the airport to the meeting venue, the U.S.-China Summit was held on 15 November in San Francisco at the nearby Filoli Estate. (Brendan Smialowski/AFP)

U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping did not issue a joint statement after concluding their San Francisco summit on Wednesday (15 November 2023). The two governments only expressed their positions through written statements issued by each. The differences can be summarized in four major aspects.

News (8)

The United States and CCP each play their own tune on the Taiwan issue

First, regarding the Taiwan issue, the statements of the two countries have completely different expressions. Among them, the Chinese Communist statement specifically mentioned President Biden's promise at last year's Bali meeting not to support "Taiwan independence" but this position was not included in the White House statement.

The Chinese statement said that Xi Jinping reiterated the principle of the Taiwan issue during the meeting and pointed out that "the Taiwan issue has always been the most important and sensitive issue in Sino-US relations. China attaches great importance to the relevant positive statements made by the United States during the Bali meeting." Therefore, Xi Jinping asked the United States to show its non-support for Taiwan independence, "stop arming Taiwan and support China's peaceful reunification." He also emphasized that

"China will eventually be reunified and will inevitably be reunified."

According to the U.S. statement, Biden did not directly respond to Xi Jinping's request to stop arming Taiwan. As for Xi Jinping's declaration of reunification, Biden reiterated his opposition to any party independently changing the status quo across the Taiwan Strait.

Biden emphasized that the U.S. government has maintained a consistent one-China policy for decades and has not changed. The statement quoted Biden as saying: "The United States opposes any party unilaterally changing the status quo. We hope that differences across the Taiwan Strait will be resolved through peaceful means. Peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait are related to the interests of the world." Biden also called on CCP China to restrain its military activities around the Taiwan Strait.

U.S.: Supports Ukraine, Israel, CCP China: Sharing responsibilities as major powers

Second, after the conflicts between Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Kazakhstan, the United States has repeatedly called on China to take action to mediate, and both Ukraine and Israel have publicly sought China's support.

Regarding the two major regional conflicts, the US statement said that the two leaders exchanged views. Among them, Biden reiterated that the United States, together with its global allies and partners, will continue to support Ukraine in resisting Russian aggression; in the Israel-Kazakhstan conflict, the United States supports Israel's right to fight terrorism.

Biden also reiterated his support for a free and open, interconnected, prosperous, secure and resilient Indo-Pacific region, and his steely commitment to defending Indo-Pacific allies. He also emphasized the United States’ long-term commitment to issues such as freedom of navigation and flight, compliance with international law, maintenance of peace and stability in the South China Sea and East China Sea, and the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

The Chinese Communist statement made no mention of Ukraine or Israel. Compared with last year's Xi-Baili Summit, Xi Jinping stated at that time that CCP China was highly concerned about the situation in Ukraine, and the two heads of state also exchanged views on the Ukrainian crisis and other issues.

The Chinese Communist statement only briefly stated that the two countries will jointly shoulder the responsibilities of major powers and solve the troubles of human society, which cannot be separated from the cooperation of major powers. "China and the United States should set an example and strengthen coordination and cooperation on international and regional issues."

Biden is concerned about the weaponization of CCP China's economy and trade; Xi Jinping is dissatisfied with the blockade of chip development

Third, on the economic level, Xi Jinping expressed dissatisfaction with the United States' containment of China's chip development, while Biden was concerned about China's coercion in weaponizing economic and trade, and said that the United States would not set excessive restrictions on trade and investment.

According to a Chinese statement, Xi Jinping said that the United States continues to impose restrictions on China in terms of export controls, investment reviews and unilateral sanctions, which has seriously harmed China's interests. He said that China drives development through innovation, and suppressing China's science and technology is to curb China's high-quality development and deprive the Chinese people of their right to development. He hopes that the United States will face up to China's concerns, lift unilateral sanctions, and provide a fair, just and non-discriminatory environment for Chinese companies.

The Chinese statement also quoted Biden as saying, "The U.S. and China are economically interdependent. The United States is happy to see China develop and prosper. It does not seek to suppress and contain China's development, nor does it seek to decouple from China."

The U.S. statement stated that Biden is concerned about the CCP’s unfair trade practices, non-market economic practices and punitive measures against American companies. He said that these practices harm American workers and families.

Biden emphasized that the United States will continue to take necessary actions to prevent its high-end technologies from being abused or harming U.S. national security, but will not impose excessive restrictions on trade and investment.

Xi Jinping was criticized by dissidents for saying Biden was concerned about the CCP's human rights violations

Fourth, Xi Jinping visited the United States again after seven years. Many dissidents living in the United States gathered in San Francisco to protest, including those from Hong Kong, Tibet, and the Uighur communities who demonstrated outside the Chinese Communist Embassy in San Francisco to protest against the Chinese Communist government’s suppression of human rights.

According to a U.S. statement, Biden emphasized the universality of human rights and the responsibility of all countries to fulfill their international human rights commitments during the meeting. He raised concerns about CCP China's record of human rights violations in Xinjiang, Tibet and Hong Kong.

Biden said that resolving the cases of some American citizens who have been improperly detained by the Chinese Communist Party or banned from leaving the country remains a priority for him.

CCP China's statement did not mention these human rights issues.

After the Israeli military took military action against Al Shifa Hospital, the largest hospital in Gaza, it stated on 16 November 2023 that Israeli soldiers found a body of a hostage "kidnapped by Palestinian militant group Hamas" near the hospital. It is claimed that she was "murdered" by Gaza militants. Tunnel shafts used by Hamas militants were also discovered.

Hamas militants kidnapped approximately 240 hostages and killed approximately 1,200 people, mostly civilians, during a terrorist attack on 7 October 2023. Israeli special forces began raiding Al Shifa Hospital early on 15 November. An official said they found images of the hostages on a hospital computer.

Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari identified the murdered woman as 65-year-old Yehudit Weiss.

According to the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, Weiss was kidnapped from her home in the Israeli kibbutz community of Be'eri by Hamas while her husband who was attacked died in the process. Four of the couple's five children were also in Berry at the time. Fortunately, they all survived.

Yehudit Weiss was a 65-year-old who worked with kindergarten kids.

On 7 October, Yehudit was abducted by Hamas from her home in Kibbutz Be’eri. Her husband, Shmulik Weiss, was murdered in their home. Yehudit and Shmulik were parents to 5 children.

Separately, the Israeli military also released a video purportedly showing a tunnel entrance in the outdoor area of Al Shifa Hospital.

The video shows a deep hole in the ground, surrounded by scattered concrete, wood fragments and sand. The land appears to have been dug up, with a bulldozer in the background. Reuters could not immediately verify the content of the video.

The Israeli military said it also found a vehicle containing a large number of weapons in the hospital.

Hamas stated in a statement in the evening of 16 November that the U.S. Department of Defense and State Department’s claim that Hamas uses Al Shifa Hospital for military purposes is nothing more than “repeating obviously untrue statements, which also proves the weakness and ridiculous performance of the spokesperson of the Israeli occupation forces” ".

However, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that the United States has confidence in its own intelligence agency's assessment of Hamas's activities in Al-Shifa Hospital, but would not provide relevant information or detailed explanations.

The United Nations (UN) said that 36 hospitals in Gaza have been involved in the Israel-Hamas war, and more than half of them have ceased operations due to resource shortages, fighting or damage.

On the other hand, the United Nations is concerned that no aid will be delivered to the Palestinians through the Rafah crossing on the border with Egypt.

Al Shifa Hospital is a vast complex of buildings and courtyards just a few hundred metres from Gaza City's small fishing port, sandwiched between the Beach refugee camp and the city's Rimal neighborhood. Shifa means "heal" in Arabic and is a common name for hospitals in the Middle East.

The Al-Shifa Hospital was built during the British Mandate for Palestine in 1946, two years before the British withdrew from Palestine. It survived the 1948 Egyptian invasion and the ensuing 20 years of military rule.

Let Hamas release hostages, Biden: Have some hope

The British "Daily Telegraph" reported that U.S. President Joe Biden said in the evening of 15 November 2023 that an agreement may be imminent for the release of more than 200 hostages kidnapped by Hamas in Gaza. He expressed "some hope" and suggested Israel had agreed to a "pause" in the fighting.

Biden said, "I don't want to say too early... but we have received great cooperation from Qatar." Qatar is an important intermediary between Israel and Hamas.

However, when Biden expressed that progress had been made in the agreement and said that "Israel agreed to suspend" the fighting, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken shook his head and looked uneasy. Biden interrupted the conversation at this time and said: "I want it to stop, I still have some hope.”

Biden said he was "doing everything in our power" to secure the release of some 240 hostages taken by Hamas during its attack on southern Israel on 7 October 2023, but ruled out the possibility of U.S. military intervention.

In addition, Biden also defended Israel's military operations, saying that Hamas committed a war crime by setting up its military headquarters under a hospital.

He said that Israel sent a limited number of armed troops into Al Shifa, the largest Western hospital in Gaza, and did not carry out carpet bombing of the hospital.

Since Hamas militants attacked southern Israel, causing serious casualties, Washington has provided a large amount of military assistance to its ally Israel, saying that Israel has the right to defend itself and fight back against Hamas but it is also worried that a large number of Palestinians will be killed in the war.

CCP China has 20 million unfinished buildings, threatening social stability next year

CCP China's housing market continues to decline. Lu Ting, an economist at Nomura Securities, said that it is estimated that there are about 20 million unfinished pre-sale houses in China. Due to the continuous postponement of the delivery date, there are more and more unfinished buildings. Sometime next year, there may be a general thunderstorm.

Japanese financial services institution Nomura Securities released a report on the 15th stating that the area of unfinished pre-sale houses in China is astonishingly large, "equivalent to about 20 times that of Country Garden, China's largest private real estate developer (calculated by sales area)."

The US financial media CNBC quoted Nomura Securities' chief China economist Lu Ting as saying, "It is estimated that there are about 20 million unfinished pre-sale buildings in China." It would cost approximately RMB 3.2 trillion to complete the construction of these houses.

The report pointed out that in CCP China, many apartment buildings are sold before completion. As the handover date continues to be delayed, there are more and more unfinished buildings. Therefore, the government's current priority policy goal is to ensure the completion of pre-sold housing.

Nomura's report said that CCP China's real estate industry is collapsing, developers are generally facing a serious credit crisis, and home buyers are becoming increasingly impatient with the continuous delays in the delivery date of the houses they purchase.

The report predicts that at some point next year, the problem of delayed housing delivery will become a social issue and may lead to unrest next year.

Last year, large-scale supply cuts occurred in many places in China. Desperate buyers of pre-sale homes have decided to stop making monthly payments no matter what the cost; while many developers are running into debt crises, making it increasingly difficult to complete construction of pre-sale homes.

The report mentioned that in the first 10 months of this year, the sales area of commercial housing in China fell by 7.8% annually, which was wider than the 7.5% annual decrease in the first 9 months of this year; while the funds in place for real estate developers fell by 13.8% annually in the first 10 months. Compared with the 13.5% decline in the previous nine months, it has further worsened.

After receiving an important endorsement from House Speaker Johnson, there is news that Trump will receive an endorsement from Texas Governor Abbott when he visits the Texas border this Sunday.

Rawaswamy: "The current policy is that it is unclear whether the United States will defend Taiwan. I think that is a mistake. At this point, I have always believed that the correct policy is that we will defend Taiwan."

Rawaswamy believed on Wednesday that the United States should clearly stand up for Taiwan and maintain this clear position at least until the United States achieves semiconductor independence.

On Wednesday, Democratic U.S. Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia said he would consider running for president.

Just a week ago, Manchin had stated that he would not seek re-election to the Senate, which means that it will be difficult for the Senate Democrats to retain this seat in a deep red state dominated by Republicans, and will directly affect the Democratic Party's control of the Senate.

West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin: "I've never considered myself an establishment Democrat. I've always been a fiercely independent person."

Joe Manchin has not made it clear whether he will run as a third-party candidate, but he has not ruled out leaving the Democratic Party and said he will do his best to mobilize centrists.

For example, the judge said to Trump in court, "We are not here to listen to what you have to say"; he had earlier issued a gag order against Trump; and before the trial began, he was convicted without evidence. There was fraud, etc. Stefanik called on the committee to take corrective action and ask Judge Ngolon to recuse himself from the case.

In addition to dealing with civil lawsuits in New York, Trump also faces the review of four criminal cases, including the Mar-a-Lago sensitive documents case and the January 6 attack on Congress.

Trump's lawyers also filed a legal motion to support the media's request for a live television broadcast of the federal trial "January 6 Storm on Congress" in March next year.

According to the Trump campaign, a legal document released on11 November stated, "The prosecutors hope to continue to mock legal justice in the darkness. President Trump calls for sunshine," believing that everyone should have the opportunity to study and observe first-hand information about the case.

Although various lawsuits have affected Trump's arrangements for running for president, Trump's advantage continues unabated, and his approval rating is far ahead.

纽约上诉庭暂时解除川普民事诈欺案禁言令

A New York appeals court judge temporarily dismissed former President Trump (Trump)’s New York civil fraud case on Thursday (16 November 2023). The presiding judge issued the gag order, arguing that the order may have violated Trump's right to free speech under the First Amendment of the Constitution.

On Thursday afternoon, Judge David Friedman of the Appellate Division Courthouse of New York State, First Department of the New York State Supreme Court issued a brief ruling, saying that in view of "the Constitution and Disputes over legal rights," he agreed to temporarily suspend the gag order.

The suspension of the gag order will last until at least 27 November, when a full panel of the First Court of Appeal will consider it.

The gag order that was stayed by the appeals court was imposed by New York State Supreme Court First Judicial District Judge Arthur Engoron, who is overseeing Trump's New York civil fraud case.

On 3 October, Trump appeared in court in Manhattan to answer the fraud charges brought against him by New York State Attorney General Letitia James. Ngorong issued the gag order during his arraignment hearing after the former president made a social media post earlier in the day attacking the judge's law clerk.

Since then, Engoron has fined Trump twice for violating the gag order, including a fine of $5,000 on 20 Octoberand a fine of $10,000 on 25 October.

Trump's legal team appealed the gag order and $15,000 fine late Wednesday, arguing that Ngorong's order violated the Constitution and suppressed Trump's free speech. Lawyers also emphasized that given that Trump is the front-runner in the Republican presidential primary in 2024, the consequences of this gag order will be more serious.

Hours after the appeals court ruling was released, Trump posted on his social media platform "Truth Social" to celebrate the ruling and once again criticized Engoron's "ridiculous and unconstitutional gag order."

Some people quit their jobs just to be able to protest. There are also people coming from Canada and Europe.
