Singapore route remains suspended, MAI says

Myanmar Airways International (MAI) has revealed on Facebook that its flights to Singapore and Kolkata from Yangon remain suspended until 30 September 2021. In September 2021, the private airline which is related to the National Unity Government (NUG), is only operating relief flights to Kuala Lumpur, Incheon and Suvarnabhumi.
MAI intended to resume flight to Singapore from Yangon on 1 May 2021 but the plan was postponed at last minute as the market for relief flights is too small. Besides the Myanmar Junta's airline Myanmar National Airlines is operating scheduled relief flights every week to Singapore.
MAI has no flights to Guangzhou in protest for the CCP's role in supporting the Myanmar military regime.

Myanmar National Airlines operates once-off relief flight from Phnom Penh to Cebu
On 1 September 2021, a B737-800NG aircraft of Myanmar National Airlines was chartered to operate a special relief flight from Phnom Penh to Cebu. According to The Khmer Times, 70 Filipinos who were stranded in Phnom Penh was repatriated to Cebu at 11 am local time on that day.
On the same day, another B737-800NG of the airline operates second relief flight between Yangon and Manila.

China's envoy "talking to dead people" in Yangon
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) envoy Sun Guoxiang’s recent visit to Myanmar ended discreetly. Beijing said on Tuesday (1 September 2021) that its special envoy for Asian affairs had been in Myanmar from 21 to 28 August 2021 at the invitation of the regime. Regime media did not report on Chinese envoy's visit
Interestingly, the regime has remained tightlipped about the visit. Normally, the presence of such a high-profile foreign dignitary in Myanmar would be front-page news in the junta’s dailies, but it was the Chinese side that eventually revealed the trip. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said during a press conference on Tuesday that the special envoy “exchanged views with [regime officials] on the political landscape in Myanmar and China-Myanmar cooperation in combating COVID-19.”
The most interesting message from China regarding the visit came later in Wang’s statement, when he stressed, “We will work together with the international community to play a constructive role in Myanmar’s efforts to restore social stability and resume democratic transformation at an early date.”
It was the last remark—“to resume democratic transformation at an early date”—that caused Myanmar observers’ ears to prick up.

Chinese envoy raised border security issues with Myanmar Junta

Soon after the regime ousted Myanmar’s elected government in February, China’s state-run Xinhua news agency described the military’s seizure of power by force of arms as a “cabinet reshuffle.” Since then, anti-China sentiment in Myanmar has hit fever pitch due to Beijing’s failure to condemn the military crackdown and the mounting perception that it has fully sided with the junta.
Myanmar has seen anti-China demonstrations, and factories owned and run by Chinese companies have been attacked. China’s image has been shattered and will be hard to repair in the eyes of Myanmar citizens, who deeply loathe the military junta.

Myanmar shadow government calls on Singapore firm to shun Junta
Myanmar’s shadow civilian government has called out a Singapore firm to abandon "illegal investment of US$22.4 million under the military regime.
The Singaporean company named is Clean Power Energy Co Ltd. It has shown interest in constructing a 30 MW solar powerplant under IPP (BOO) to generate supply of electricity according to the NUG's list of investors seeking "unlawful permits and endorsements" from military controlled Myanmar Investment Council between 1 February and 30 June 2021.
The NUG’s statement said it will not recognize any investment permit and endorsement made by the regime.
It threatened companies with prosecution if they fail to comply with its instructions.
The NUG accused the company of seeking the “unlawful” permits and endorsements from the Myanmar Investment Commission, which is headed by regime-appointed Lieutenant General Moe Myint Tun.
“The indiscriminate issuance of investment permits and endorsements by the Myanmar Investment Commission under the control of the illegal military council runs counter to the tenets of federal democracy to which the people of Myanmar aspire. Such actions shall not be tolerated,” said the NUG’s planning, finance and investment minister, U Tin Tun Naing.

Pfizer also put out a press release the same week that proclaimed, “If successful, [the drug] has the potential to address a significant unmet medical need, providing patients with a novel oral therapy that could be prescribed at the first sign of infection, without requiring hospitalization.” The company described the drug as an “investigational orally administered protease inhibitor antiviral therapy designed specifically to combat COVID–19 – in non–hospitalized, symptomatic adult participants who have a confirmed diagnosis of SARS–CoV–2 infection and are not at increased risk of progressing to severe illness, which may lead to hospitalization or death.”
Media corporations have already expressed excitement about the
