Cao Xingcheng, the former chairman of UMC, held an international press conference today and announced that he would invest 1 billion yuan to officially launch two action plans. The overall goal is to train 300,000 civilian marksmen. The second plan is to train 3 million "black bear warriors" who actively assist in regional defense within three years. They can cooperate with the soldiers of the national army and form a national defense without loopholes.
Cao Xingcheng said, "I am very excited today because I have regained my Taiwanese citizenship of the Republic of China and renounced my Singaporean citizenship. From now on, I can stand with all the brave Taiwanese compatriots to fight against the CCP's aggression, defend the country, and make Taiwan always the same as the United States. Be the land of the free and the home of the brave."
Cao Xingcheng pointed out that on June 7, Hu Xijin, the former editor-in-chief of China's Global Times, declared that if the People's Liberation Army invaded Taiwan, it would kill "Taiwan independence" and leave no survivors. In May of this year, Sha Ye, the Chinese ambassador to France, also said wildly that after China unifies Taiwan, it will "re-educate" Taiwanese. The so-called re-education is to continuously torture and torture the people, so that they will only know how to obey and not dare to resist.
Cao Xingcheng criticized that in the 21st century today, a large number of CCP officials are openly clamoring to brainwash 20 million people in Taiwan, completely ignoring crimes against humanity and war crimes, which is really sick. The reasons they put forward are also extremely absurd. They said that they came to Taiwan to kill people to protect their territory, Taiwan. The problem is that Taiwan has never been under the jurisdiction of the CCP, so how could it become their territory? In response to this issue, the CCP's statement is even more ridiculous. They claim that Taiwan has been Chinese territory "since ancient times".
Cao Xingcheng mentioned that Taiwan's aborigines have lived in Taiwan for more than 4,000 years, and Hokkien people have lived in Taiwan for more than 350 years. The Republic of China has existed for 111 years, and the People's Republic of China has only existed for 73 years. How did Taiwan "since ancient times" become China territory of the People's Republic? This kind of nonsense, regardless of historical facts, can only be said by the brains of the autocratic system.
He emphasized that if the CCP uses force against Taiwan, it is a blatant aggression, a deliberate massacre, and a vicious violation of war crimes and crimes against humanity. In the face of the CCP's viciousness and arrogance, the common hatred of Taiwanese people has been ignited. Today, I want to introduce two action plans. One is to train 3 million civilian warriors who will actively assist in regional defense within three years. They are called "Black Bear Warriors". They can cooperate with the soldiers of the national army to form a national defense without loopholes. For this plan, he will subsidize 600 million yuan to accelerate its promotion and achieve the goal as soon as possible.
He also explained that another plan is to train 300,000 civilian marksmen, called "Preserving the Township Marksman". This plan requires coordination between the military, the police, and various county and city governments, as well as the joint efforts of civil organizations. He is willing to provide NT$400 million for the cost of this plan if the budget of each unit is temporarily insufficient to eliminate difficulties and make it start quickly.
He pointed out that these two plans can strengthen our defense forces and declare our determination to fight against aggression as a soldier. We know that over the past 70 years, the CCP has always wanted to occupy Taiwan; they have not done so until now because they have no strength.
Cao Xingcheng said that in recent years, the CCP’s wolf warrior diplomacy has aroused the disgust of the free world, and it has begun to block and prevent the CCP in terms of new technology, which has led to their relative strength in capturing Taiwan, which will only weaken in the future and will not increase. For example, Huawei, which was invincible in the past, has now disappeared. On the contrary, if Taiwan's scientific and technological strengths such as drones and semiconductors can be well integrated, military and civilian cooperation can be strengthened, and key technical support from the United States can be added, Taiwan will definitely have the ability to defeat the intruders of the communist army alone in the future, and there is no need to ask him to send troops to help. .
Cao Xingcheng said that in the future, the CCP can only hope for civil strife in Taiwan and paralyze itself. They will support local hooligans to cause trouble everywhere, or secretly help some of Taiwan's low-ranking celebrities and politicians, spread defeatism and capitulationism, and use rumours, provocation and slander to destroy the unity of the Taiwanese people and weaken the fighting spirit of the Taiwanese people.
Cao Xingcheng pointed out that the 3 million black bear warriors and 300,000 "preserving the homeland", as well as many other similar programs, can help Taiwanese young people both mentally and technically to be a staunch force to resist and protect Taiwan, and to smash the CCP's conspiracy in the internal paralysis of Taiwan.
Cao Xingcheng's ID card emphasizes that "100% Taiwanese nationality" agree that reunification is a brain-dead
Cao Xingcheng, the former chairman of UMC, announced a few days ago that he would give up his Singaporean nationality and restore his Taiwanese nationality of the Republic of China. Today, he held an international press conference to show off the ID card he received the day before yesterday. He said that he was very excited and comforted. They will say that it is the interference of foreign forces, "I am 100% Taiwanese."
Cao Xingcheng pointed out that in the past 10 years, although he has obtained the nationality of Singapore, he has spent most of his time in Taiwan and has a good understanding of the situation in Taiwan. At this time, when he returns to the nationality of the Republic of China, he can participate in very meaningful things in Taiwan, because the CCP threatens Taiwan more and more. Coming and growing, Taiwan's confrontation with the CCP represents democracy against authoritarianism and civilization against barbarism, so Taiwan stands in a very important position.
Cao Xingcheng mentioned that if he can successfully resist China's ambition, he will not only be able to keep his homeland, but also make a great contribution to the world situation and the development of civilization. This is the glorious mission that history has given to Taiwanese. He returned to Taiwan to undertake the mission with everyone, Finish the fight.
In response to the CCP's step-by-step approach to Taiwan, why did it mention that "if you want to die, you will die in Taiwan"? Cao Xingcheng further stated that this is very natural. When returning to Taiwan to resist the aggression, it is impossible to say that there will be no bloodshed and no harm at all. Resistance will definitely have its price. He expressed that returning to Taiwan "will die in Taiwan" and will never live. Seeing the CCP turn Taiwan into another Hong Kong is a personal declaration.
Regarding whether to consider climbing a high and calling on Taiwanese companies to join in the grand cause of anti-communism? Cao Xingcheng responded that many entrepreneurs have expressed their support in private, and the curator said that they would support it with 1 million yuan. He has no opinion on whether everyone should make it public. Regarding the issue of mainland China, Taiwan should give priority to self-protection. Although the Chinese people are generally dissatisfied with the Communist Party, this is what they have to do.
With regard to the long-term development in China in the past, why did he change to an anti-communist stance? Cao Xingcheng mentioned that in the past, he hoped that China would give up military control of Taiwan and take the line of peace. To unify Taiwan, there should be no arrogance, and conditions should be put forward to the people of Taiwan for a referendum. If the people in Taiwan think the conditions are good and most of them agree, The idea of peaceful reunification on both sides of the Taiwan Strait has led many people to misunderstand that he supports reunification.
Cao Xingcheng pointed out that this reunification must go through Taiwan's referendum, which is the only peaceful way. China put forward conditions for Taiwan to choose, and it also respected Taiwan's independence, and Taiwan's referendum on reunification also represented Taiwan's sovereignty. Under the circumstances that he wanted to maintain Taiwan's sovereignty and independence, he persuaded the CCP to take such a path. It has been hard work for a long time, and many Chinese scholars also agree with this, because other than letting Taiwanese citizens vote, they can't think of any way to peacefully reunify. However a person with great influence on the CCP's Taiwan policy told him that this idea is good, but it will take a long time for a big ship to turn.
Cao Xingcheng emphasized that, however, after seeing the CCP's brutal humiliation and suppression of Hong Kong in 2019, and even arranging gangsters to deal with citizens, indiscriminately hitting with sticks, he felt that the CCP could not be trusted, and anything they said was a lie. For example, I swore that "Hong Kong will remain unchanged for 50 years", but it has changed in 20 years.
He detailed that the CCP not only strongly suppressed the democratic movement, the executive power of Hong Kong has been taken away, Leung Chun-ying and Carrie Lam are the underground members of the CCP, and they have also trained a group of "pro-Communist" Legislative Council members who grew up sucking CCP milk, which is even more serious violation. The judicial power in Hong Kong can be directly seized by anyone who wants to be rectified, and full control of the executive, legislative and judicial powers can be obtained.
Cao Xingcheng bitterly criticized that the CCP is essentially a hooligan. It has learned violence, lying, and even more lawless class struggle from the Soviet Union. It is completely a hooligan regime. "Chinese don't beat Chinese" is really ridiculous!
For example, Cao Xingcheng, during the Cultural Revolution, was the Chinese President Liu Shaoqi a Chinese, and whether Lin Biao, who was forced to crash in Mongolia, was a Chinese? Even the closest comrades in arms can turn their faces and fight to the death at any time. You Taiwanese say it is China man, it won't fight? This is very stupid, so don't talk about the great cause of unification, agreeing that the great cause of unification is brainless, the great cause of unification is the great cause of the emperor, and it will always be a disaster for the common people.
He pointed out that many people in Taiwan dare not scold the CCP, thinking that as long as they do not advocate Taiwan independence, China will be fine. Now any Taiwanese who do not agree with reunification will be defined by the CCP as Taiwan independence. Brainwashing, so today's cognitive war is very important, Taiwanese should not be deceived by the Ministry's attempt to paralyze Taiwan.

Cao Xingcheng and Shen Boyang joined hands with civil defense and anti-resistance for a total of 1 billion aid and two plans
UMC founder Cao Xingcheng held an international press conference in Taipei on Thursday (1 September 2022), expressing the restoration of Taiwanese nationality of the Republic of China. use.
Under the attention of the media at home and abroad, Cao Xingcheng, the founder of UMC, announced that 3 billion Taiwan dollars will be used for the anti-communist plan, of which 1 billion will be used for civil defense.
Cao Xingcheng, founder of UMC, said, "In the face of the CCP's brutality and arrogance, Taiwanese people's hatred has been ignited. Today we want to introduce two action plans. One is to train 3 million people to actively assist in regional defense within three years. Folk warriors, we call them black bear warriors, can cooperate with the soldiers of the national army to form a national defense without loopholes. I will subsidize 600 million Dollars for this plan to accelerate its promotion and achieve its goals as soon as possible. Another plan is to do everything possible quickly trained more than 300,000 folk marksmen, we can call him Baoxiang marksmen."
He warned that the CCP infiltrated the purpose.
Cao Xingcheng said, "In the future, the CCP can only hope for Taiwan's civil strife and paralyze itself. They will support local hooligans to cause trouble everywhere, or secretly donate to some of Taiwan's ill-mannered celebrities and politicians, spreading defeatism, capitulationism, and spreading rumors, provocation, and slander. , to destroy the unity of the Taiwanese people and weaken the fighting spirit of the Taiwanese people. The training of 3 million black bear warriors and 300,000 Baogo marksmen, as well as many other similar programs, can psychologically and technically assist the young people in Taiwan to become the anti-war co-protector the unwavering strength of Taiwan.”
Shen Boyang, an assistant professor at the Institute of Criminology at Taipei University, remarked, "If the missile is about to hit, where are we going now? How much do we need to prepare? If the Internet is cut off, will everyone use the radio? ? So in the first six months, we should have some training for a large number of seed teachers."
At the press conference, Cao Xingcheng revealed that he was very excited to have regained his Taiwanese nationality of the Republic of China. From then on, he could stand with all the brave Taiwanese compatriots to fight against the aggression of the CCP, defend the country, and make Taiwan a land of freedom and a home of the brave.

Virus refining field? Wuhan Institute of Viology discovers new "polyomavirus" that can infect humans
The British "Daily Mail" reported that the Wuhan Institute of Viology, which is at the heart of the controversy over the origin of SARS-CoV-2 (covi, covid virus), discovered a new virus code-named "LsPyV KY187" in striped grass mice (also known as zebra mice in Kenya) last year. The pathogen belongs to the polyoma virus family and can infect humans. Chinese experts say the impact of the virus on people is unclear.
Polyomaviridae are double-stranded DNA viruses that cause tumours, some of which infect the respiratory system, kidneys or brain. However, the known human polyomaviruses are widely distributed and have a high infection rate, but usually only cause obvious clinical manifestations or even disease in a few immunocompromised hosts. Under natural conditions, the symptoms after infection are mild and generally do not induce tumour.
According to the report, Chinese scientists found the virus in a striped grass rat after testing hundreds of rodents in Kenya, Africa in 2016 and 2019. The sample was then sent to the Wuhan Institute of Virology for analysis. The findings were published in the Chinese Journal of Virology named Virologica Sinica.
Because the new virus is not closely related to any known pathogen, its effects in humans are unclear and require further evaluation, the researchers said.
The Daily Mail noted that the finding underscores the Wuhan lab's old roots, despite lingering questions about its relationship to the pandemic.
The report mentioned that experts at the Wuhan Institute of Virology have conducted extensive research on bat and other animal coronaviruses, and are known to be conducting experiments on known close relatives of covi, which also has a controversial "gain-of-function experiments that involve patching a virus to make it more contagious or lethal.

Daily Mail's account of the new polyomavirus
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-11160447/Wuhan-lab-centre-Covid-cover-claims-detects-brand-NEW-virus.html
A brand new virus has been detected at the Chinese laboratory at the centre of covid's origin.
Researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology discovered the pathogen — code-named LsPyV KY187 — in a mouse.
It belongs to a family of polyomaviruses which infect millions of children every year but are extremely mild.
Scientists at the controversial lab made the find after testing hundreds of rodents in Kenya in 2016 and 2019.
Samples were then sent for analysis at the biochemical research facility in Wuhan, the city at the epicentre of the covid pandemic.
The new polyomavirus was detected in a striped grass mouse, sometimes known as a zebra mouse.
It was revealed in a study published in the Chinese journal Virologica Sinica this month.
Because the new virus is not closely related to any known pathogen, its effect on people is 'unclear and needs to be further assessed', the researchers said.
The discovery highlights how it is business at usual at the Wuhan lab, despite lingering questions about its ties to the pandemic.
Covid began spreading in an animal slaughter market about eight miles from the WIV, which worked with dangerous coronaviruses.
Chinese officials stifled independent investigations into the lab and wiped crucial databases containing information about the earliest covid patients.
WIV researchers who fell ill with a mysterious flu-like virus months before the official covid timeline were silenced or disappeared.
The so-called lab-leak hypothesis was dismissed as conspiracy or xenophobia in early 2020. But, as time has gone on, the theory has gained traction.
Experts at the WIV worked extensively on bat and other animal coronaviruses and were known to be experimenting on covid's closest known relatives.
It was also carrying out controversial gain of function experiments which involve tinkering with viruses to make them more infectious or deadly.
However there has never been any direct evidence that SARS-CoV-2 first jumped to humans at the facility.
New research appears to support the idea the Huanan Seafood Market was the true source of the pandemic.
The latest study, which was submitted to the scientific journal last November, involved taken samples from 232 animals in five counties in Kenya.
They were collected on two occasions — in August and September 2016 and March 2019.
Researchers looked at 226 mice and rats, five shrews and one hedgehog, all of which are known harbourers of zoonotic infectious diseases — those that jump to people.
The samples were sent back to the WIV for PCR analysis.
Liver, lung and kidney tissue of each animal were screened for the presence of DNA viruses of seven families.
In total 25 animals tested positive. In all but one case the samples were traced back to pre-existing viruses.
But further analysis showed the new virus polyomavirus was only a 60 per cent match to its closest relative.
Writing in the paper, the researchers said the new virus was "not closely related to any virus known to cause disease in their small mammal hosts or in humans."
They added, "Their pathogenicity [ability to cause disease in humans] and potential risk of zoonotic transmission are unclear and need to be further assessed."
Around 80 per cent of adults have had a polyomavirus infection at some point in their life, most commonly in childhood.
The virus lives in the upper respiratory tract and people usually have no symptoms at all.
It is never fully flushed from the body and stays dormant throughout a person's entire life - but most will never realise.
In very rare circumstances in immunosuppressed patients, the virus can reactivate and multiply, causing kidney or even brain damage.
Meanwhile, the Wuhan researchers also highlight the importance of continuing to carry out virus research on animals.
"As there are increasing agricultural activities into the natural habitats of rodents in Africa, it highlights the necessity of continued surveillance over a wide-scale area, which could involve larger sample size and apply more high-throughput detection methods.
"Pathogenicity studies of novel viral pathogens are also required in future investigation.
"Such programs will contribute an important baseline for future prevention and control of emerging zoonotic diseases."

Wuhan Huanan Seafood Market could have re-opened, photos of dead animals on the roof show
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-11164203/Has-Chinese-wet-market-centre-Covid-origin-secretly-OPENED-Images-suggest-so.html
Photos have emerged of dead animals on the roof of a Chinese market linked to covid's origin, raising fears it has secretly re-opened.
Eagle-eyed scientists have found rows of skinned beasts dangling from drying racks at the controversial Huanan Seafood Market in Wuhan.
The images were captured on Google Maps in December 2021 — nearly two years after the market was shut due to concerns it was a breeding ground for disease.
But they only surfaced this week, raising concerns China's notorious wet markets are back to business as usual despite their pandemic-causing potential.
The Huanan market — which housed dozens of exotic animals in sordid conditions — is considered one of the most likely sources of SARS-CoV-2 (covi, covid virus).
The majority of early cases visited or had links to its stalls and it was known to keep animals that can harbour the virus, including raccoon dogs, pangolins and minks.
In January 2020, Chinese officials closed the market indefinitely and later that year banned the sale of wild animals for food amid mounting criticism.
Dr Angela Rasmussen, an American virologist who shared the new images, described them as "puzzling". Other experts said they were "very worrying".
The latest images shows several rows of what appears to be multiple species of dead animals hanging on drying racks.
Some of the carcasses look to be skinned and others appear to be gutted with their fur still intact.
The blurry photos also show several tables with what looks like animal skins laid out on them.
The images are available on Google Earth — which uses satellites and aircrafts to map cities — and are dated December 2021.
Street view and other Google services are banned in China as part of the Communist Party's blanket censorship of the internet.
Reacting to the images, Professor Lawrence Young, a microbiologist at the University of Warwick, told MailOnline: 'Very worrying is my reaction.
'What does the international community need to do to persuade governments of the need to control wet markets?
'We know that almost all infections that have emerged in recent years as a threat to human public health have originated from animals.
'Yet there appears to be a massive chasm between veterinary and human public health.'
Professor Paul Hunter, an infectious disease expert at the University of East Anglia, told MailOnline that 'if the wildlife trade major cities continues, then it is only a matter of time before we see another pandemic'.
The Huanan Seafood Market was closed down and disinfected in January 2020 as Chinese researchers swabbed its stalls and surfaces looking for traces of Covid.
On 11 December 2020, Reuters reported that the market was still empty and barricaded.
A team of scientists led by the World Health Organization (WHO) visited the wet market on 31 January 2021, as part of an investigation into its role in the pandemic.
It is unclear when or if the market officially re-opened.
But a ban imposed on 22 January 2020, made it illegal to sell wild animal products for food in Wuhan — which is why the photos are causing alarm among scientists.
In February 2021, the Chinese Government announced a ban on the trade and consumption of most wild animals throughout China.
This targeted animals from snakes to bamboo rats, which were previously able to be sold through a complex system of licenses.
It still allowed people to eat certain species, such as deer, which are farmed according to established techniques and pose a low risk to human health.
The ban did not cover the consumption of wild animal products in traditional Chinese medicine, leaving open a potential loophole.
The new images were revealed in a Twitter thread by Dr Rasmussen, who compared them to photos of the market during the pandemic.
Aerial shots taken by Reuters in January 2021 — a year after the market was shut — show empty drying racks on the same part of the roof.
In a second set of photos taken that February, a small number of animal skins appear to be drying on one rack.
Curiously, these images were captured on the final day of the World Health Organization's investigation into the market.
Dr Rasmussen said in a tweet: 'But then 10 months later, in December 2021, the drying racks appear to be full.
'There is also a table with what appear to be animal skins laid out on it.
'If these are fresh animal skins, it's puzzling why they would be there a year after the market's closure.'
Dr Simon Clarke, a microbiologist at the University of Reading, told MailOnline, "Clearly, if wild animals are still being traded in the vicinity, transmission of novel viruses to humans remains a possibility.
"The market was closed to reduce this risk of transmission, but it could be completely futile if the ban is being flouted there or indeed anywhere else."
It comes just weeks after two crucial studies supported the theory the Huanan market was the true source of the pandemic.
There has been fierce debate about whether covi was borne out of a natural spillover event or if the virus leaked out of a lab.
The wet market was originally touted as the source of the covid pandemic when two-thirds of the first 40 people hospitalised with the disease had links to its stalls.
But concerns started to mount when it emerged the Wuhan Institute of Virology was working extensively on bat coronaviruses at the time.
The level four biochemical facility is located just 8miles away from the market, on the other side of the Yangtze River.
Experts at the WIV worked extensively on bat and other animal coronaviruses and were known to be experimenting on covid's closest known relatives.
It was also carrying out controversial gain of function experiments which involve tinkering with viruses to make them more infectious or deadly.
There has never been any direct evidence either way, which has allowed the debate to rage on.
But in July, two studies claimed to have swung the balance in favour of a natural origin.
One showed for the first time how the earliest human cases were clustered within a small radius around the Huanan Seafood Market in winter 2019.
More precise analysis of swabs taken from floors, cages and counters tracked the virus back to stalls in the southwestern corner of the market.
Animals that can harbour the covid virus were sold for meat or fur at the time, adding weight to the theory.

Trump claims his possession of "sensitive information" should not have been "cause for alarm" because he was president
Donald Trump has submitted a formal response to the Justice Department's explosive Tuesday court filing just before his 8 p.m. Wednesday evening deadline to do so.
The ex-president's legal team is hitting back at the DOJ's arguments against appointing a special master to oversee the classified documents recovered from Mar-a-Lago by the FBI during an unannounced search earlier this month.
It comes the night before a major hearing in the case on Thursday.
Trump's legal team suggests they are entitled to be represented in a review of the documents seized, arguing that the government's review of privileged information is too one-sided.
The DOJ's 36-page Tuesday filing is a damning account of investigators' attempts to recover classified documents that Trump improperly took home with him after leaving the White House.
It accuses Trump and his lawyers of having deliberately hidden records from investigators, claiming documents were 'likely concealed and removed' in order to 'obstruct' the probe.
Image : A photo of documents seized by FBI duirng the August 8 search of Mar-a-Lago. It was released by the DOJ.In his Wednesday filing, Trump attempts to dismiss the very origins of the DOJ's investigation by arguing his possession of "sensitive" documents should not have been concerning for the National Archives - which first raised alarms about the ex-president's handling of classified documents in January 2021.
"The purported justification for the initiation of this criminal probe was the alleged discovery of sensitive information contained within the 15 boxes of Presidential records," the court papers state.
"But this 'discovery' was to be fully anticipated given the very nature of Presidential records. Simply put, the notion that Presidential records would contain sensitive information should have never been cause for alarm."
Trump's insistence that he has 'declassified' all documents in his possession is one of several defenses that he's publicly floated - which at times have contradicted each other.
In the filing he also argues that his use of executive privilege "primarily benefits the United States" and therefore should be honored.
After U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon signaled her openness to granting Trump's request for a third-party official to review what the DOJ seized, prosecutors submitted a filing indicating that a so-called 'privilege review team' was engaged in much of the same work.
They argue that appointing a special master would be superfluous and potentially imperil their investigation given the highly classified nature of documents that were recovered.
But Trump's Wednesday court filing calls the privilege review team "highly deficient" and claims the DOJ presented an over-broad picture of its search in Tuesday's filing - despite the extraordinary detail investigators delved into to reveal that they even went into the ex-president's personal desks.
It also hits out at the DOJ for not including Trump in the filtration process. The criticism appears to be another attempt by his legal team to gain more insight into the ongoing investigation.
"Left unchecked, the DOJ will impugn, leak, and publicize selective aspects of their investigation with no recourse for [Trump] but to somehow trust the self-restraint of currently unchecked investigators," the filing states.
The former president made clear on his Truth Social app Wednesday that his biggest gripe was with a photo accompanying the DOJ filing which shows documents strewn across the floor of his Mar-a-Lago office.
Some of the documents feature prominent red 'TOP SECRET / SCI' markings - a very high classification level.
SCI stands for 'Sensitive Compartmented Information,' which suggests national security information.
"There seems to be confusion as to the 'picture' where documents were sloppily thrown on the floor and then released photographically for the world to see, as if that's what the FBI found when they broke into my home," Trump wrote on Wednesday evening just hours before his new court filing dropped.
"'Wrong! They took them out of cartons and spread them around on the carpet, making it look like a big 'find' for them. They dropped them, not me - Very deceiving..."
Trump's Wednesday court filing slams the photo as "'gratuitous."

1 drone harassed Shiyu. Kinmen Defense Command: The warning to the drone was not heeded and thus it was shot down
Reporter : Wu Zhengting / https://news.ltn.com.tw/news/politics/breakingnews/4044536
The Army's Kinmen Defense Command confirmed that at 12:30 p.m. today, an unknown drone was found to enter the airspace over the restricted waters of Shiyu Island. The Kinmen Defense Command thus shot it down.
The Ministry of Defense pointed out that in the face of the continuous intrusion of the CCP’s drones, the National Army has always adhered to the basic principles of “warning carefully” and never escalating the conflict. Warning, until August 30, there were Chinese drones successively invading Dalian and Erdan Island, and the defending troops carried out live ammunition expulsion operations for the first time.
President Tsai Ing-wen pointed out when stationing troops in Penghu a few days ago that the more provocative the enemy army is, the more calm it is. Countermeasures, the president said, "has ordered the Ministry of Defense to take necessary and strong countermeasures in due course to safeguard the security of the country's airspace".
The Ministry of Defense stated that at 12.30 pm today, an unknown drone was found to have entered the sky over Shiyu Island. After the drone ignored the defending troops' warning, the troops immediately launched defensive shooting and shot down the drone. It fell into the sea but the Army is unable to provide photo of the wreckage at this time.

U.S. defense experts warn China may be developing biological weapons
U.S. defense experts warn that China is conducting research that may be used in biological weapons, and these scientific research results may be used to attack the United States in a conflict and its allies.
Peter Brookes, a senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation and former deputy assistant secretary of defense, wrote (link) that the CCP is conducting dual-use (civilian and military) biotechnology research. In addition, Beijing has been slow to disclose the results of a Cold War-era biological weapons program.
Brooks also said that the CCP has postponed or canceled its participation in international conferences on the Biological Weapons Convention for two consecutive years.
In the article, Brooks cites a recent State Department report (PDF) to Congress, which said there is ongoing concern about whether Beijing has violated the Biological Weapons Convention.
Under the Biological Weapons Convention, member states can engage in peaceful research (such as vaccine development), but it prohibits the development, possession, storage or use of these agents for offensive purposes.
In its report, the U.S. State Department noted that Beijing continues to engage in dual-use (civilian and/or military) activities, raising concerns about its compliance with Article I of the Biological Weapons Convention.
Beijing reportedly had a biological weapons program from the 1950s to the late 1980s that was supposed to be terminated, transferred or destroyed when China acceded to the Convention in 1984. But to this day, Beijing has not acknowledged the existence of the biological weapons program, nor has it announced its current disposition.
The State Department said the plan uses "ricin, botulinum toxin, and the causative agent of anthrax, cholera, plague and tularemia" as weapons.
The State Department's report also noted that Beijing's military medical facility has published papers discussing how to "identify, test, and characterize a wide range of potent toxins with dual use (civilian/military)" that could pose a biological weapons threat.
Brooks said that, in the form of the State Department report, there may be a significant amount of analysis that was based on sensitive intelligence sources and methodologies and was therefore not released to the public.
In it, he noted that Beijing has postponed a 2021 bilateral virtual meeting with the United States on the Biological Weapons Convention and canceled another similar meeting in early 2022, raising deeper concerns.
Brooks noted that the Pentagon's annual report (PDF) to Congress in late 2021 also expressed concerns about China's biotech development.
The Pentagon emphasized in the report that the CCP continues to develop biotechnology infrastructure that may be used for military applications, especially in areas such as precision medicine, biological warfare, and enhancing the physical fitness of soldiers.
The Director of National Intelligence's 2022 Annual Threat Assessment for the U.S. Intelligence Community (PDF) also warns, "The rapid development of dual-use technologies, including bioinformatics, synthetic biology, and gene editing, could change the development of new biological weapons. complex, complicating detection, investigation and treatment.”
Brooks called for international concern beyond Beijing's lack of transparency about the origins of COVID-19. The underlying intent of biological research may also be a critical and growing threat to the United States and its allies and partners.
Brooks' warning came after a U.S. expert testified at a Senate hearing in early August that a forensic analysis showed that China's Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) was working on Nipah virus, a highly lethal pathogen. Genetic modification, which violates the Biological Weapons Convention. (understand more)
The Wuhan Institute of Virology, long suspected to be the origin of covi, has also conducted controversial "gain-of-function" studies on some viruses, which involve patching the virus to make it more contagious or deadly.

Fears
of a new deadly viral outbreak have begun to spread after three people died in
Argentina this week from a mysterious case of pneumonia. Another six people have also been infected with a
“pneumonia of unknown origin,” Argentine health officials reported.
Of the nine people who have been infected, eight were
health workers and one was an ICU patient being treated at a private clinic in
Tucumán — a small region 800 miles northwest of the capital Buenos Aires.
Health officials have expressed their mounting concerns
after tests for 30 infections including covid, flu and influenza types A and B
came back negative, Tucumán health minister Luis Medina Ruiz confirmed to local
news outlets Wednesday.
“What these patients have in common is the severe
respiratory condition with bilateral pneumonia and compromise in [Z-ray] images
very similar to COVID, but that is ruled out,” Ruiz said.
Meanwhile, the European Centre for Disease Control’s epidemic
intelligence team has been monitoring the cases since Tuesday and scientists at
the World Health Organization have also begun tracking the situation.
“It’s obviously
concerning but we still need key information on transmission and hopefully [on
the] underlying cause,” professor Devi Sridhar, chair of global health at Edinburgh
University and author of “Preventable: How a
Pandemic Changed The World & How to Stop the Next One,” told the Telegraph.
Samples of the unknown virus have reportedly been sent
for testing to the Malbran Institute in Buenos Aires and Argentina’s National
Administration of Health Laboratories and Institutes.
Local officials are also
examining the water and air conditioning units in the area to test for possible
poisoning.
The most recent victim of the virus was a 70-year-old
woman who died Thursday. She had been admitted to the clinic where the infected
health professionals worked ahead of a procedure.
The elderly woman has been suspected to have been
“patient zero” but Ruiz clarified that those facts are still “being evaluated.”
The first patient died Monday and the second Wednesday
after all suffering from “a severe respiratory condition with bilateral
pneumonia … very similar to COVID.”
The first six patients
started exhibiting symptoms between 18 and 22 August 2022. Officials have not
said when the three most recently infected people began exhibiting symptoms but
noted that two are receiving clinical treatment and one is being monitored at
home.
This comes nearly two and a half years after the COVID-19 outbreak began spreading across
the globe. Several other illnesses have since sparked fears of another pandemic
with the US recently declaring a state of emergency
over monkeypox.

Unexplained pneumonia in Argentina has killed 4 people. The cause is suspected to be related to "Legionella bacteria"
An unknown pneumonia broke out in a private clinic in the province of Tucuman in northwestern Argentina. At present, 11 people have been infected, and 4 of them have died. The US "NBC" news pointed out that the patient's lungs were affected, and the suspected cause may be related to inhalation. Substance-related, and the latest report indicates that the unidentified pneumonia may be related to "Legionella bacteria" .
"NBC" said the clinic is located in Tucuman province, about 670 miles north of the Argentine capital, and local health officials noted that they found Legionella bacteria in four of the specimens, respiratory specimens from three patients and one deceased. Argentine Health Minister Carla Vizzotti also issued a statement saying that "the unknown pneumonia is suspected to be related to the Legionnaires' disease caused by Legionella bacteria, but the current information is limited and further diagnosis by experts is still needed."
Legionnaires' disease first appeared in 1976, when a veterans conference was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. More than 200 participants developed pneumonia and respiratory infections, which eventually led to 34 deaths. Experts found out that the culprit of this incident was a bacteria that was not yet discovered at the time, so called Legionella, which can cause dizziness, nausea, etc.
Legionella is ubiquitous in nature and artificial water facilities, especially like to grow in warm and stagnant or slow-flowing water, and can survive in water and soil for a long time, especially water is the main source of infection of Legionella, Once inhaled or inhaled by aerosol or water containing the bacteria, people with poor immune function may be infected and become sick; Legionnaires' disease can be treated with antibiotics but if treatment is delayed, the mortality rate can reach more than 10% .
Local health officials pointed out that the first 6 cases reported were 5 medical staff and 1 patient in the intensive care unit. They all developed symptoms from 18 to 22 August. As for the current 7 patients, 4 people have been diagnosed. Hospitalized, 3 of them were treated with respirators, and the other 3 were monitored at home because their symptoms were less complicated.
