According to Reuters, Thai Airways said on 16 June 2025 that it would exit the debt restructuring plan and expected to resume stock trading by early August. As the national airline of Thailand, Thai Airways entered bankruptcy protection restructuring in 2020, laid off about half of its employees and reduced the size of its fleet. Thai Airways has achieved operating profits every quarter since 2023.
The airline said in a statement that the airline has achieved operating profits every quarter since 2023, which is a huge turnaround for the airline, as it has been losing money almost every year since 2012.
Thai Airways said that according to the court order, the airline owes about 190 billion Baht to creditors, of which 94 billion Baht has been repaid and the remaining amount will be repaid within the next decade.
The Thai Airways statement said: "The company aims to enhance its international aviation potential and promote Thailand as a regional air travel hub."
In a separate announcement, the company appointed Lavaron Sangsnit as chairman.
