Late on 16 November 2025, on the mainland Chinese platform Xiaohongshu, netizens who have long followed and spoken out about the Yunnan "Wild Children" incident reported that related videos stored on their phones had disappeared. Back in 2019, some Chinese netizens using Huawei phones to bypass internet access to Twitter discovered that images downloaded from Twitter were being automatically deleted. Upon closer inspection, it was found that the Huawei system had deleted the images.
From 2022 to the present, many netizens on the Chinese internet have reported that their phones were automatically deleting pictures and photos, including those from Huawei and Xiaomi.
