Recently, the Yunnan "Wild Children" incident has attracted widespread attention. In response to public condemnation, the CCP authorities released an investigative report, and then censored related information across the entire internet. Many netizens who have been following the incident say that all images and videos related to the incident on their phones have been inexplicably deleted.

Late on 16 November 2025, on the mainland Chinese platform Xiaohongshu, netizens who have long followed and spoken out about the Yunnan "Wild Children" incident reported that related videos stored on their phones had disappeared. "Why have all the videos stored on my phone disappeared? It's utterly absurd."

Other netizens reported experiencing the same issue with their phones: "Me too, oh my god, I'm not the only one," "I just found out," "Several of my photos are gone," "I just realized my videos are missing."

Some netizens also said, "Many cloud storage services have blocked them too." "No wonder all the stuff I've stored on my cloud storage for years suddenly disappeared."

Netizens criticized, "Is technology really that advanced now? They can control even phones, so some things are just a matter of whether they want to investigate or not." "Oh my god, it turns out we can't control anything." "How terrifying, we have no privacy at all." "So scary." "According to this, some cases aren't that they can't handle them, they just don't want to."

In late September, many netizens who supported Yu Menglong said that videos and photos of him stored on their phones were automatically deleted.

The CCP authorities monitor their citizens, and Chinese-made mobile phones have long been exposed for having surveillance backdoors.

Back in 2019, some Chinese netizens using Huawei phones to bypass internet access to Twitter discovered that images downloaded from Twitter were being automatically deleted. Upon closer inspection, it was found that the Huawei system had deleted the images.

From 2022 to the present, many netizens on the Chinese internet have reported that their phones were automatically deleting pictures and photos, including those from Huawei and Xiaomi.

Furthermore, Huawei phones have also been exposed for being unable to remove the Chinese Communist Party's five-star flag.

In 2024, multiple videos appeared on the Chinese Douyin (TikTok) platform showing users holding Huawei phones and claiming that Huawei was "very patriotic," yet when using the phone's AI editing functions to edit photos, the five-star red flag could not be removed.
