Netizens both domestically and internationally continued to investigate the truth behind the Yu Menglong case. A gay dating app circulated online showing registered users on Yingtai Island in Zhongnanhai. The CCP simultaneously ordered the app to be removed from app stores.
Recently, it was reported online that the CCP ordered the removal of a gay dating app from Android and Apple app stores. At the same time, multiple screenshots of the app circulated widely on social media, showing registered users on Yingtai Island in Zhongnanhai. One screenshot also showed a user's profile picture, but it was not very clear.

Yingtai Island in Zhongnanhai is the area where the CCP leader works and lives with his family. However, Xi Jinping has met with foreign guests multiple times this year at Chunyizhai in Zhongnanhai, leading some to suspect he may have been forced to move out of Yingtai Island and into Fengzeyuan, a nearby residential complex.
Many netizens have linked the aforementioned screenshots to the Yu Menglong case, believing it could serve as evidence of involvement by high-ranking CCP officials. Previously, rumours circulated online that Yu Menglong had suffered sexual abuses from homosexuals in the entertainment industry before his death, involving high-ranking CCP officials.
A friend of Yu Menglong residing overseas revealed to the *People's Daily* that Yu had mentioned a director with a "red second-generation" background who once wanted to take him into Zhongnanhai, but they had just reached Fuyou Street when someone called for him, so he did not go in. Some netizens speculated that Yu Menglong cleverly avoided a "quid pro quo" with a perverted high-ranking official in Zhongnanhai.
Because of online rumours that Yu Menglong may have died as a sacrifice for Xi Jinping, some netizens joked that the registered user of Yingtai Island might be Xi Jinping. Others said that there are many other officials and staff on Yingtai Island who may be sexually deviant.
Some suspect that GPS signals are strictly controlled within Zhongnanhai, making location tracking unlikely. Therefore, it is possible that other registered users maliciously changed their location to Yingtai Island to prank the CCP.
The day after the screenshot circulated (11 November 2025), Apple confirmed to AFP that, following an order from the Cyberspace Administration of China, the full versions of two gay dating apps were removed from the Apple App Store in China, one of which was the app mentioned in the screenshot.
This news sparked online ridicule: "Yesterday I suspected it was fake, now it's officially confirmed," "(The CCP) is protesting too much," "It seems Yu Menglong's tragic death really is related to Zhongnanhai."
