Czech Minister of Health: SARS-CoV-2 is a laboratory leak but not man-made

Czech Health Minister Roman Prymula said in the House of Representatives on Thursday (22 October 2020) that SARS-CoV-2 (CCP virus) is almost certainly an experimental leak from a laboratory but he also pointed out that this kind of virus is too complicated and cannot be created artificially.

According to a report from the Czech media Novinky.cz website on 22 October, Primula expressed the above views when answering questions from members of the House of Representatives. He said, "It is almost certain that the virus came from a laboratory in China." But he added, "It's not that it was artificially made, but it escaped."

He further explained that various different types of bats are usually studied in Chinese laboratories, and it is clear that some animals have entered the market after being infected with this new virus, leading to this global disaster.

"This is not a man-made virus. Indeed, there is a lot of evidence to prove it." Primula added, "The virus is very complicated. If someone makes this virus, then he will be a genius."

On Friday, in response to Primula’s above-mentioned statement about the source of the CCP’s virus, some media asked the spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in the Czech Republic, “What’s China’s comment on this?” The spokesperson expressed his "resolute opposition" before "there is no real evidence."

In the spring shortly after the outbreak of the CCP virus pandemic, a view that the CCP virus originated in Chinese laboratories emerged. On 30 April, US President Trump said in response to media questions at the White House that he had seen evidence that the CCP virus might come from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. He went on to add that there are many arguments now, "We will find the source, and we will see where it comes from."

Singaporean molecular biologist: SARS-CoV-2 may have been synthesized in a laboratory

According to a report by Radio Free Asia, Singaporean MIT molecular biologist Alina Chan said in an exclusive interview with Boston magazine in mid-September this year that she has been studying the virus since the covid outbreak, and she found an important detail: The virus contains a rare genetic sequence that was used by genetic engineers to insert the genome into the coronavirus without leaving any traces. At the same time, this gene sequence happens to allow scientists to exchange different genetic parts of the virus to change the infectivity.

These characteristics of the CCP virus led Alina Chan to conclude that the virus may have been synthesized in a laboratory. But she also emphasized that the same gene sequence can also occur naturally. She believes that if the CCP virus does come from a laboratory, it is likely to be an accident during normal research; and if the virus is actually manufactured in a laboratory, the vaccine may not be effective.
