Japan study: After recovery from covid, hair loss and other sequelae may occur

The results showed that some cured patients had sequelae such as hair loss, asthma and long-term olfactory failure.

According to reports, a total of 63 people were surveyed, all of whom were cured patients from February to June with an average age of 48.1 years.

According to investigation, 4 months after the onset of covid symptoms, 11% of them had asthma symptoms, 10% had abnormal smell, 6% had cough symptoms, and 2% had abnormal taste.

In addition, in an additional survey of 58 of them, it was found that 14 people (9 males and 5 females) began to lose hair about 2 months after the onset of symptoms, which accounted for about a quarter of the total number of surveys. 

Among the interviewees who experienced hair loss, 5 had their alopecia symptoms healed in about two and a half months, but there were still 9 people whose symptoms continued.

In this regard, the research center doctor Shinichiro Morioka said that the cause of hair loss "may be caused by psychological problems caused by too long treatment." He said that he will continue to investigate and strive to find out the sequelae and the exact reason.
