Research: Covid-19 can be imported by mouth

The researchers said they found evidence that SARS-CoV-2 (novel coronavirus, covi, CCP virus) can infect the oral cavity, including inside the cheeks, gums, and salivary glands. When people swallow the virus-infected saliva, they may spread the virus to other parts of the body.

CNN reported that this study, published in the journal Nature Medicine on Thursday, may explain why so many infected people lose their sense of taste and indicate that the oral cavity is an important source of Covid-19 (covid, novel coronavirus pneumonia) transmission. As we all know, saliva testing is a good way to detect infections, but the researchers did not find the cause.

Kevin Byrd of the Academy of Sciences of the American Dental Association who conducted this research said: “Swallowing infected saliva or inhaling small particles in it, we think it may further spread SARS-CoV-2 to our throat, lungs and even intestines."

The mouth, nose, sinuses, throat and lungs are connected, and the virus can spread to all areas of mucus that flow or cough. They examined oral tissue samples of people who died of Covid-19 and found the virus in about half of the salivary glands they tested.

The study also found evidence that people who tested negative after a nasal swab sometimes continued to test positive in saliva, indicating that the virus persists in saliva even if the virus is cleared from the nasopharynx.

Study: SARS-CoV-2 infection may trigger diabetes

Reporter : Gao Shan / Editor : Ye Ziwei

According to the latest data, SARS-CoV-2 (CCP virus) can cause diabetes in some people although the exact cause is still unclear.

According to a report by Fox News, the magazine Scientific American published an article stating that scientists all over the world have noticed that there has been an increase in new diabetes cases last year, especially for those who have no previous history of diabetes. People infected with the CCP virus suddenly became ill.

This trend has prompted many research groups to start studying this phenomenon. For example, researchers from King's College London and Monash University in Australia have established the CoviDiab registration system, in which doctors can submit information about confirmed covid infections, new covid infections andreports of diagnosed diabetic patients.

According to The Guardian, more than 350 clinicians have submitted reports to the system. They have reported patients with type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes, which reveal that the former is that the pancreatic cells that produce insulin in the body are attacked while the latter is that the body still produces some insulin but it is usually not enough, and the cells in the body do not respond normally to this hormone. .

Dr. Francesco Rubino, Professor and Chairman of Metabolism and Bariatric Surgery at King’s College London, told the Guardian, “In the past few months, we have seen more cases. These patients are either during the COVID-19 infection, or developed diabetes shortly thereafter." "We are now beginning to think that this connection may be true-this virus has the ability to cause glucose metabolism disorders."

Other studies have also found a link between COVID-19 and diabetes.

For example, Scientific American reported that a review of 8 studies, including a survey of more than 3,700 hospitalized COVID-19 infected people, showed that approximately 14% of infected people have diabetes. According to the Guardian, a preliminary study of 47,000 people infected in the UK found that 4.9% of them had diabetes.

Dr. Remi Rabasa-Lhoret, a physician and metabolic disease researcher at the Montreal Clinical Research Institute, told CTV News: “We clearly see that there is no history of diabetes. People are suffering from diabetes." "It is very likely that COVID-19 has caused this disease."

The biggest question is why this is so. Scientists have made several inferences about this.

According to a report by Scientific American, the reason may be that the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 directly attacked the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. In addition, covid may also indirectly damage these cells by infecting other parts of the pancreas or infecting the blood vessels that provide oxygen and nutrients to the organs. There is also a theory that this virus infects other organs involved in blood sugar regulation, such as the intestine, and in some way destroys the body's ability to break down glucose.

According to the "Guardian", other types of viruses, such as certain enteroviruses that cause various diseases including hand, foot and mouth disease, have also been thought to be related to diabetes in the past. In addition, according to Dr. Mihail Zilbermint, an endocrinologist and associate professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, told CTV News that it caused SARS in the early 21st century. Among those infected with the SARS-CoV outbreak, some patients later developed diabetes.

Generally speaking, acute viral infections can cause severe inflammation in the body. In response, the body produces stress-related hormones, such as cortisol, to suppress inflammation. According to a report by Scientific American, stress hormones cause a sharp rise in blood sugar levels, and this rise does not always subside after the infection disappears.

Zilbermint told CTV News that in addition, patients with covid disease often use steroid medications, such as dexamethasone, which can also increase blood sugar levels. Therefore, these steroids may also promote the onset of diabetes in people infected with COVID-19. Data from the Diabetes website shows that steroid-induced diabetes may subside after patients stop taking the drug, but sometimes, the condition will become chronic.

However, another factor contributing to the uncertainty of this connection is how many patients have previously had prediabetes. Because this means that when they were infected with COVID-19, their blood sugar levels were already above average. Zilpermint told CTV News: “It is possible that a patient with prediabetes has lived for many years without knowing this. And now they are infected with COVID-19, this infection pushes them towards diabetes."

At present, scientists are not sure whether those who develop diabetes after receiving COVID-19 treatment will develop diabetes permanently. According to a 2010 report by Acta Diabetologica, at least some patients who developed diabetes after SARS infection had their diabetes symptoms eventually subsided and their blood sugar returned to normal levels after the infection was cured. Patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 may have similar, non-long-term diabetes symptoms, but this needs further research to confirm.

The research was originally published in the journal "Life Science" (Live Science).

Former CDC Director: CCP virus escaped from Wuhan virus laboratory

Robert Redfield, the former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States, said that he believes that the CCP virus / covid originated in the Wuhan laboratory.

In an interview with CNN on Friday (26 March), Redfield said: "The situation of laboratory staff who are studying respiratory pathogens in the laboratory is not uncommon." He added that this is "my opinion" .

He added, "Usually, when a pathogen is transmitted from an animal to a human, it takes a while to figure out how to spread from person to person more and more efficiently."

Redfield said that, therefore, he believes that the virus is likely to "escape" from a laboratory in Wuhan, China. The former director of the CDC appointed by former President Donald Trump to lead the agency. He believes that the pandemic began with a partial outbreak in Wuhan in September 2019 or October 2019, a few months earlier than the official schedule.

CCP officials said the virus was first detected in a seafood market in Wuhan in December 2019. The market is about 10 miles away from the top laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where researchers studied how the CCP virus spreads from animals to humans.

Redfield said that he still believes that the virus that started in Wuhan "is most likely to escape from the laboratory." He further stated his attitude, "It doesn't matter if other people don't believe it. Science will eventually solve this problem."

He added, "I am a virologist. I have done virology all my life." He said that he did not "suggest that someone deliberately (released the virus)."

The White House: The Biden administration is waiting for the WHO report on the origin of the virus

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that the Biden-Harris administration is waiting for a report from the World Health Organization before weighing the origins of the covid pandemic.

She said that Biden will listen to their briefing after his health and medical consultants have reviewed the report. She added that the delay in the WHO report has "encouraged" the White House, believing that it demonstrates transparency in all complaints.

Before Psaki made the above comments, the former US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) director Dr. Robert Redfield said in a documentary clip released by CNN on Friday (March 26) that he believes the CCP virus began to spread in the fall of 2019, and the virus escaped from the Wuhan laboratory.

Psaki also asked reporters to listen to Dr. Anthony Fauci (Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Rochelle Walensky) earlier in the day about Redfield's comments on the origin of the CCP virus.

"Obviously, there are many theories." Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and President Joe Biden's chief medical adviser, said at the White House Covid-19 (disease caused by the Chinese Communist virus) response team briefing on Friday: "Dr. Redfield mentioned that he is expressing his views on the possibility of (the origin of the virus). But again, there are other claims that most people believe."

Fauci said that other public health officials believe that the virus may have been circulating in the Chinese community for a month or more, at least a few weeks, before it was confirmed in the laboratory. "If this is the case, the virus obviously made its transmission efficiency higher during that time to reach the level at the time (when it was reported)."

Valensky said at a briefing on Friday that there was no sign that she "supported or opposed" any hypothesis shared by Fauci.

India increases nearly 60,000 cases in a single day, 81% of cases infected with variant virus

There are 59,074 new covid cases in India on Thursday, approaching 60,000, and the second wave of epidemic cases grew faster than the first wave.

The Hindustan Times analyzed official data today and said that in the week ending 25 March, India had an average of 47,442 new cases per day. During the previous week, the average number of new cases per day was only 28,551. In just one week, the increase reached 66%, the largest weekly increase in cases in India since 10 May 2020.

According to the analysis of the report, if compared with the first wave of the epidemic in India in August and September last year, the second wave of the epidemic has increased at a faster rate. If the current growth rate continues, the peak of the second wave may exceed the peak of the first wave.

Statistics from the Punjab government found that 81% of the new cases in the second wave of the epidemic were infected with the British variant strain. It is even more worrying whether the second wave of India's epidemic is related to the more contagious British variant.

Germany lists France and its territories as "high risk" areas for the pandemic

According to Robert Koch of the German Institute of Health, Germany announced on 26  that all of France, including its overseas territories as “high risk of contracting Covid-19" areas.

The agency's website shows that this "title" means that passengers from France and its territories are required to undergo quarantine when they arrive in Germany and submit a negative test result obtained in less than 48 hours.

German Chancellor Merkel said on Thursday that France will be listed as a "high-risk" area.

According to Agence France-Presse, the move of listing France as a high-risk area for covid may tighten border controls in Berlin.

The incidence of covid refers to the number of infections per 100,000 people in the previous 7 days. In many provinces in France, the incidence has exceeded the 200 threshold.

Merkel said, "This has nothing to do with political decision-making, but when we see the change in the incidence rate exceeds the threshold of 200 for a long time, we need to classify it as a high-risk area."

Prior to this, Germany only listed the Moselle border area in France as a high-risk area.

The classification stipulates a number of travel restrictions, including the requirement to obtain a negative test result before entering German territory, the need to isolate for 10 days after entry, and the implementation of strict border controls.

Berlin also includes the Austrian state of Tyrol and the Czech Republic in the same category.

Anti-fraud, five things to confirm before vaccination

Reporter : Juliet / Editor : Han Yu / https://www.epochtimes.com/gb/21/3/24/n12833010.htm / Translation, editing : Gan Yung Chyan, KUCINTA SETIA

In the US and some other countries, in order to avoid unnecessary loss of your wallet or personal information, it is necessary to understand some fraudulent behaviors commonly used by scammers to protect yourself and your family before preparing for vaccination.

When the World Health Organization announced a global pandemic of covid, a vaccine against the CCP virus was born. Therefore, many people cannot wait to get the vaccine as soon as possible to protect themselves and their family members from the virus immediately, but there are also criminals who are using people’s anxiety and ideals to illegally steal money and obtain personal information.

Perhaps you have heard that a super site, pharmacy or community health center near your home is preparing to vaccinate eligible people. When you are eager to try, you may have been targeted by fraudsters.

In order to avoid unnecessary loss of your money bag or personal information, it is necessary to understand some fraudulent practices commonly used by scammers before preparing for vaccination, and to act cautiously to protect yourself and your family when preparing to share your personal information.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS) pointed out that anti-CCP virus vaccine fraudsters are using telemarketing, text messages, social media platforms, or door-to-door visits, and they can scam you or collect your personal information.

"The information collected can be used to fraudulently apply for rebates from the federal health care program and steal medical identity (medical identity)," HHS said.

The Healthline column interviewed Amy Nofziger, Director of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), a victim support organization, on this issue. Nofziger explained how to avoid resistance. The CCP virus vaccine appointment fraud gives the following suggestions.

Register directly with a private doctor or local public health agency

If you are not sure how to make an appointment for a vaccination safely, Novziger reminds that the best source of information about the vaccine is your personal doctor or the local health department. "If you don't have a health care provider (doctor), you should consult your local public health agency," she said.

In the U.S., the registration of anti-CCP virus vaccines varies from state to state, and some even differ from county to county. If you want to get the latest information about vaccines in your state, Novzger recommends visiting the website cdc.gov.

Customers can also use the "vaccine finder" on the online tool of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to search for vaccine suppliers near their homes.

Remember the following five points before acting

According to the provisions of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, providers of vaccines against covid cannot:

* Charge you the cost of the vaccine;

* Directly charge you any management fees, co-payments or co-insurance payments;

* Refusal to vaccinate people who do not have medical insurance, have insufficient insurance coverage, or have no network;

* If the only service provided by the organization is to administer vaccination, a visit fee or other expenses will be charged to those who are going to be vaccinated;

* The vaccinated person must receive other additional services to be able to get the vaccine (but other medical services can be provided at the same time and billing as appropriate).

HHS also confirmed the following two points. First, you will not be required to pay to upgrade your eligibility for the vaccine; second, the government and state officials will not call you to obtain your personal information because you are preparing to receive the vaccine.

In other words, anyone who asks you for money to get an appointment, tells you to put your name on a waiting list, or tells you that there are additional vaccines available for vaccinations, is not a legitimate vaccine supplier. So, it is recommended to keep a distance from them.

Novziger also reminded that anyone who takes the initiative to contact you and arrange an appointment for you must confirm their identity before providing their personal information.

Responding to fraud

However, what should you do if you do encounter a liar or you suspect that someone is using fraud against you?

"Record what happened, including any interaction or information exchange on the Internet." Novzger suggested.

"If you are a victim of fraud or you suspect that certain actions are fraudulent, you should (to the relevant department) complain." Novzger reminded.

If you are a US resident, you can call the National Center for Disaster Fraud (NCDF) hotline of the US Department of Justice to file a complaint. Their hotline is 866-720-5721, or through the complaint form on the NCDF website.

"Maybe you can't get back the money you lost, but your complaint can help others avoid fraud." Novzger added.

Corporate internal documents exposed, CCP forces people to vaccinate in disguise

Reporters : Gu Xiaohua, Hong Ning, and Zhang Yujie / Editor : Ye Ziming / https://www.epochtimes.com/gb/21/3/26/n12838716.htm / Extract translation, editing : Gan Yung Chyan, KUCINTA SETIA

Recently, The Epoch Times obtained internal documents from a Chongqing company that showed that the CCP had "politicized" vaccines and forced vaccination in disguise. Another small merchant confirmed to Epoch Times reporters that "no vaccines will not be allowed to enter the market." Analysts said that the safety of vaccines in mainland China is poor, and the CCP's forceful promotion of vaccines is equivalent to treating ordinary people as guinea pigs, which is very scary and evil.

This corporate internal document comes from Chongqing Xiaokang Group and is titled "Notice on Strengthening Epidemic Prevention and Control."

The notice stated, "All units must stand at the height of stressing politics, and follow the principle of 'should be done in full'... Strictly implement the main responsibilities." "Unit leaders and party members and cadres take the lead and actively mobilize and organize their units 18-59 years old. Except for pregnant women and breastfeeding women... the rest of the staff will be vaccinated at the local street town hospital before 30 April 2021."

The notice also stated, “All units and individuals that fail to promote the SARS-CoV-2 vaccination work and have problems will be held accountable by the group.”

Chongqing Xiaokang Group is a large private enterprise, but the local government of the Communist Party of China and the state-owned Dongfeng Group participate in shares, and there is a Communist Party organization within the group. The group has more than 10,000 employees, and its chairman Zhang Xinghai is the "Deputy to the National People's Congress" of the Communist Party of China.

The Voice of America had previously reported that there were signs that some state-owned enterprises in China (the Chinese Communist Party) linked vaccination to attendance and performance, and forced employees to vaccinate in a disguised form. Some foreign-related departments have even implemented compulsory campaigns in their departments, calling them "" "Should play as many as possible", "should receive as much as possible".

The Beijing CDC issued a document on 1 March stating that all people aged 18 to 59 without contraindications should be vaccinated against the CCP virus vaccine.

An employee of a Chinese Communist Party State-owned enterprise in Beijing told VOA, “From the content of the notice (of the company where he belongs), there is not much compulsory meaning, nor is it excessively restrictive, but from the perspective of actual work, the group requires We report the vaccination status and vaccination willingness statistics on a weekly basis. If you do not vaccinate or temporarily do not vaccinate, you may receive inquiries from company leaders or investigations by relevant departments in the future."

Merchants: Do not let those unvaccinated enter the markets

Mr. Liu, a vegetable merchant at Honggang Market in Sanya, told The Epoch Times reporter that people entering the markets are required to have been vaccinated. He said: "It was only notified on the 23rd (people unvaccinated are not allowed to enter the markets), and on the 24th the new rule resulted in a 30% reduction in sales."

He said: "The entire Sanya is now vaccinated. It is mandatory. Who wants to get the vaccine? Besides, the vaccine is still in the implementation stage. Who knows what kind of impact it will have on the body."

Mr. Wang, aquatic products retailer at Honggang Market, said, “From the morning of the 24th, more than 100 people from the city management will guard, and all the security guards in the market will be dispatched.” “Everyone has a health code, Alipay or WeChat. They checked If your health code is not typed, there will be no flat image. If it is typed, there will be a QR code for nucleic acid detection. If you do not have a QR code, you will not be able to enter."

He said, "If this were not enforced in this way, who would be willing to fight (against the virus)?"

Mr. Zhao, a fruit wholesaler at Honggang Market, said: “It started on the 24th to not let people enter the markets without vaccinations, and it probably affected (business) about 40%, and there were fewer customers.”
