Look at the tiger in the year of the tiger. Several Bengal tigers live in the theme zoo in Leofoo Village, Hsinchu County, Taiwan, attracting tourists to come and watch. Now, they are playing in the garden. Let's compete and see who is the number one tiger here.

Although tigers are considered dangerous and ferocious animals in the general public's mind, animal keeper Randy Liu said that tigers can also act as naughty and cute as cats, and even make embarrassing pranks.

Zookeeper Randy Liu said, "Often when we wash the cages, everyone (the tigers) treat our brushes as cat scratching, which is to make fun of cats. We are brushing, and they play in the next cage, where they scratch. They are very happy. And even, they often sweep the cage while our back is to it, and it sprays us."

Nevertheless, the zoo still cares for the tigers, provides a wide range of activities for each tiger, and hopes to provide the best living environment for the tigers under limited conditions.

To celebrate the Year of the Tiger, Taiwan-renowned sculptor Chen Fengxian made the world's smallest tiger miniature in gold.

This "Golden Tiger" is about 0.3 cm long x 0.2 cm wide. To see it clearly, you must use a magnifying glass. Come, take a closer look, a little tiger is raising his hand to say hello to everyone.

Chen Fengxian introduced that it was not easy to carve this "golden tiger", and it took him three months.

Chen Fengxian, a sculptor with a awning, said, "It is very, very difficult to separate out its limbs, head and tail for a small tiger that is 3 mm in size. After this tiger is carved, it can be admired from any angle. "

Chen Fengxian said that 2022 is the Year of the Tiger. He hopes that the fierce tiger will shock the wicked, the auspicious tiger will help the good people, and that people can enjoy happiness in the Year of the Tiger.

During the Lunar New Year period, every household will paste Spring Festival couplets according to traditional customs, that is, couplets with auspicious words written on them. A few days ago, a Taiwanese netizen shared a mysterious Spring Festival couplet filled with chemical elements in English letters and solved it, attracting crowds to watch and discuss.

A Facebook user posted this special pair of Spring Festival couplets on 29 January in the Facebook group "Explosive and Waste Commune Public Edition". The upper line reads "Ag, Zn, Na, F, Ga, Hf, Mg", the lower line is "Re, Sg, Tc, Au, As, Sc, Ti", and the horizontal line is "F-CL-CHO- CHO" with a big "F" in the middle.

The user asked: "Is there any teacher who can decode what is written here?"

(Click here to see the couplets)

Although this pair of "Chemistry Spring Festival Couplets" may be confusing to ordinary people, some netizens translated it into Chinese and decoded it, and it became an auspicious word that everyone could understand.

The upper panel: "Silver, Zinc, Sodium, Fluorine, Gallium, Hafnium and Magnesium" (Welcome the New Year, receive blessings and family harmony), the lower panel: "Rhenium Jinxi (chemical element Sg) Technetium Gold Arsenic Scandium Titanium" (receive happiness and a golden healthy body), horizontal batch: "Fluorine Chloride Dialdehyde" (double fortune and longevity), and the word in the middle is "Fluorine" (fortune).

This is actually an auspicious word spelled out with the homophony of chemical elements. Although another netizen pointed out that the word "ha" is pronounced "ha" (phonetic symbol: ㄏㄚ), this does not seem to affect the creativity and interest of this couplet.

This pair of couplets actually appeared in the Facebook group "Laughter Commune" in 2019. Now that it is the New Year of the Chinese lunar calendar, it has been turned out by netizens and posted.

At that time, some netizens left a message saying that the owner of the house should be from the Department of Chemistry. Some people also said that this pair of Spring Festival couplets is to relieve the boredom of boys studying in science and engineering departments. Others said: "Silver, zinc and sodium... I'm sorry for the chemistry teacher...".

In addition, this pair of Spring Festival couplets also attracted netizens from the Music Department and the Foreign Language Department to compete. The music department draws different notes on the Spring Festival couplets, while the foreign language department writes: "GOOD HEALTH GOOD WEATH ALL YEAR ROUND" (a whole year of health and wealth), "EAT WELL SLEEP WELL EACH EVERY DAY" (every day eat well and sleep well).

Puppy faints in park, man saves life with CPR

Reporter : Chen Juncun / Editor : Jasmine /  https://www.epochtimes.com/gb/22/2/3/n13552661.htm

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a first aid procedure that can be used to rescue people when their breathing and heartbeat stops. In fact, this first aid method is also used on animals. An American man recently saved a puppy's life using this method.

On a Friday morning in January, a California woman took her 9-year-old puppy, Stone, for a walk in the park, but Stone collapsed before entering the park, leaving the woman distraught and screaming for help.

A man named Jay rushed over after hearing her cry for help. He noticed that Stone had stopped breathing, and began putting him on CPR and artificial respiration.

After a few minutes, Stone's body began to writhe, and he resumed breathing, which brought a sigh of relief to everyone present. And Stone was very happy that he could save Stone with CPR.

This touching scene was filmed by passers-by and has now been circulated on the Internet.

Jay later said that Stone was later sent to the veterinarian for examination but the veterinarian said that Stone's heart was healthy, it was not a heart attack, and it may have fainted because of too much excitement. He is currently recuperating at home and can only do short walks.

Jay mentioned in an interview with KOST radio that when he learned that Stone needed help, he acted immediately without thinking too much.

He also said that he learned CPR on YouTube, the first time he has used this method to save a puppy. He admits that he was a little nervous, but glad that what he learned saved Stone's life.

The Epoch Times previously reported that a man in Tamil Nadu, India, also saved a monkey's life with CPR in December 2021.

The 42-year-old ambulance driver Prabhu, after learning that a monkey had lost consciousness after being bitten by a wild dog, administered CPR to it and blew into its mouth until it came back to life.

At this time, Prabhu hugged the monkey like a baby and said happily, "Let's go to the hospital."

On New Year's Eve, the Tokyo Tower, a Japanese landmark, lit up the so-called "China Red", but many Japanese protesters were dissatisfied with the government's pro-Communist performance, and put up slogans "Down with the Chinese Communist Party" on the scene. Chinese slogans such as "Down with the Chinese Communist Party, Down with Communism" were played through loudspeakers.

At 6 pm on 31 January 2022, Japan time, on the traditional Chinese New Year's Eve, the Tokyo Tower in Japan held the fourth "China Red" ceremony. The slogan is "future", which originates from the slogan of Beijing Winter Olympics "Everything looks forward the future".

The organizer of the event is the "Tokyo Tower China Red Executive Committee", and the cooperating parties include the Chinese Embassy in Japan, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Saga Prefecture, Oita Prefecture, etc.

The Japanese government has already announced that it will not send government officials to participate in the Beijing Winter Olympics, joining the camp of the United States, Britain and other Western countries to boycott the Beijing Winter Olympics. The Tokyo Tower is the platform for the Beijing Winter Olympics, arousing the anger of the Japanese people. Yang Haiying, a professor at Shizuoka University in Japan, criticized the Japanese politicians who participated in the event, believing that they were trying to curry favour with the CCP.

According to Radio Free Asia, groups such as the "Japan Patriotic Party" protested at the scene. Protesters used striking slogans such as "Down with the Chinese Communist Party" and used loudspeakers to broadcast Chinese slogans such as "Down with the Chinese Communist Party, Down with Communism".

Ding Dong, a Chinese living in Japan, told Radio Free Asia that slogans such as "Down with the Communist Party" and "Destroy the Communist Party of China" were displayed at the scene, which should represent the aspirations of most Japanese. The CCP originally wanted to use this event to build momentum for the Beijing Winter Olympics but it was unexpectedly strongly protested by the Japanese people.

Ding Dong said that because of the issues of the Diaoyu Islands, the epidemic, the persecution of human rights in Hong Kong and Xinjiang, the disgust of the entire Japanese people against the CCP has reached a new high. The promotion of "China Red" by the Chinese ambassador to Japan, Yang Yu, has aroused even greater disgust among the Japanese.

Akio Yaita, a Japanese expert on China issues and director of the Sankei Shimbun Taipei branch, told Radio Free Asia that the CCP took advantage of the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan to conduct large-scale publicity activities but polls showed that the Japanese people did not buy it.

Akio Yaita said that public opinion surveys in Japan show that 90% of Japanese people hate the CCP.

U.S. intelligence experts: Havana syndrome may be caused by directed energy

Reporter : Han Rui https://www.ntdtv.com/gb/2022/02/02/a103338263.html

A new study by the U.S. intelligence agency found that the "Havana syndrome" that has caused more than 1,000 U.S. diplomatic and intelligence agents to develop abnormal symptoms may be due to pulsed electromagnetic energy.

An investigation report released by an expert group of the US intelligence agency on Wednesday (2 February 2022) analyzed that the "Havana syndrome" that has plagued U.S. personnel abroad in recent years may be caused by "pulsed electromagnetic energy transmitted by external equipment."

"Havana syndrome" refers to the abnormal physical manifestations of about 1,000 diplomatic and intelligence personnel in the United States. Symptoms include headache, dizziness, fatigue, hearing loss and cognitive difficulties. The U.S. State Department staff in Havana, Cuba's capital, first reported the situation in 2016.

The investigation is consistent with preliminary findings released last month by the CIA, which said last month that "Havana Syndrome" may be caused by environmental factors, diagnosed health factors and work stress. The report also believes that it is unlikely that hostile countries such as Russia are targeting Americans.

However, the New York Times reported that some victims of "Havana Syndrome" did not agree with the CIA's findings. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the investigation will continue.

Interview with Trump: We must end mandatory quarantine measures

Former U.S. President Trump said in an exclusive interview with The Epoch Times that the injunctions related to the epidemic are wrong and should be abolished.

"We have to end," Trump told former top aide Kash Patel on The Epoch Times' "Kash's Corner." These injunctions have to be terminated and they shouldn't be enforced at all."

The interview will premiere on EpochTV.com on 7 February 2022 at 8 pm Eastern Time.

In late 2019, when Trump was president, SARS-CoV-2 (CCP virus, covi) that caused the COVID-19 (covid) outbreak first appeared in China. Under Trump, the federal government has not mandated vaccinations or mask but some states and counties, including California, created their own regional mask orders.

Later, under President Biden, many parts of the United States began requiring covi vaccinations when dining out, going to concerts, and even working. After that, Biden issued a presidential order requiring the military, federal contractors, government agencies, health care workers and all Americans who work for companies with more than 100 employees to be vaccinated.

All of these Biden mandates have been challenged, and some have been struck down by the courts, although the mask-wearing order has largely withstood legal challenges and is still being implemented.

Trump told The Epoch Times that Biden campaigned on a promise to "beat the virus" but "did such a bad job" at containing the outbreak.

"They didn't seem to know what they were doing," Trump said. "He came in and said, 'I'm going to fix COVID.' In the year after he took office, there were more deaths. That happened after we have developed treatments, vaccines, everything.”

The number of deaths from the pandemic in the U.S. in 2021 is higher than in 2020, and many parts of the country set new records for cases in late 2021 or January 2022.

Trump stepped down as President on 20 January 2021.

Early in the outbreak, the Republican president did not order mandatory lockdowns. But at the time, his pandemic advisers Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx advised people to self-isolate and stay at home. Many states also mandated the closure of so-called non-essential businesses and businesses.

Trump eventually parted ways with these top health officials, urging the reopening of areas that had been in lockdown and proclaiming that famous quote: "The cure" shouldn't be worse than the COVID-19 virus itself.

A comprehensive analysis of the results of 24 studies concluded that lockdown policies had little or no impact on covid mortality.

Trump noted that he blocked most non-Americans to and from China about a month after the virus first emerged. This was a controversial move at the time. He also tightened controls on illegal and legal immigration due to concerns about immigrants carrying the virus, and established Operation Warp Speed to speed up the development of vaccines and treatments for covid.

Trump said, "I closed our country to China, and saved hundreds of thousands of lives. Later when I saw what was happening in Italy, France and Spain, I was also very interested in Europe. The gates were closed. And those two closures ... saved hundreds of thousands of lives."

White House distributes virus test kits, some made in China

As millions of American families receive free home COVID-19 testing kits from the White House, some of them contain the "Made in China" label have also attracted attention.

The at-home test kit distribution, which began earlier in January, is part of a Biden administration initiative to give Americans 1 billion free at-home self-testing kits for COVID-19. A significant portion of the kits came from a company called iHealth Labs, a California subsidiary of Chinese medical device maker Andon Health.

The company has secured contracts with the U.S. federal government and some states worth more than $2.1 billion since December 2021, according to its listing filings and federal contract records.

About $1.8 billion of that came from the Department of Defense (DOD) for White House outreach. The Defense Department awarded two contracts to the company on 13 and 26 January to buy more than 354 million Chinese-made test kits, or about a third of the total, for U.S. households.

The White House said on 28 January that 60 million U.S. households have ordered free testing kits through the government's new website, covidtests.gov. Orders are usually shipped within 7 to 12 days, the site says.

Rep. Rob Wittman, a Virginia Republican, said that two years after the spread of covid from China, the United States is still relying on testing kits produced in China, which is worth reflecting on.

"If there's one thing we should learn from this pandemic, it's that America's reliance on Chinese medical and PPE (personal protective equipment) supply chains must be broken," he told The Epoch Times.

The fragility of U.S. supply chains came into focus in the early months of the pandemic, when U.S. frontline healthcare workers struggled to obtain critical medical supplies and had to purchase supplies from foreign countries, primarily China.

Wittman called on the U.S. government and members of Congress to lead by example and advocate for domestic production of medical devices.

"We should support hardworking Americans and businesses, not an unfriendly regime," he said.

Ohio Republican Congressman Brad Wenstrup (Brad Wenstrup) also held a similar view.

"The U.S. is distributing Chinese-made COVID-19 test kits on a massive scale, further underscoring the need to bring U.S. manufacturing back into critical industries," Winstrup told The Epoch Times, which he sees as a "national security issue." and national health and security issues.”

The Defense Department contract does not specify iHealth Labs' relationship with China, nor is it mentioned on iHealth Labs' website.

The White House did not respond to a request for comment from an Epoch Times reporter. The Epoch Times also contacted iHealth Labs for comment.

Jiu'an Company was established in Tianjin in 1995 and is famous for producing blood pressure monitors. The company was in the red for six straight years until the pandemic hit.

Jiu'an only started producing self-test boxes on a commercial scale in November 2021. Thanks to demand from the United States, shares of Jiu'an have surged nearly 14 times as of 18 January.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted emergency approval in November 2021 for Joyo's iHealth Labs to sell COVID-19 nasal swab test kits in the United States. The lab also received orders from the New York State Department of Health and Massachusetts for a total of $333 million.

According to Chinese media reports, California, Washington, Louisiana, Maryland, Ohio and the District of Columbia have also placed orders with Jiu'an.

Chinese authorities have commended Jiu'an for its role in pandemic control efforts. In 2020, Jiu'an provided temperature scanners to Wuhan and other virus-hit cities, and donated goods to countries including the United States, Italy and Germany.

In an event to commemorate the fourth "China Brand Day" on 10 May 2020, Jiu'an announced that the company has always been an "ambassador of Chinese brands", bringing the "high standard" of Chinese products to the world.

Republican members of Congress recently took issue with the White House's purchase of medical equipment made in China.

Earlier in January, more than 120 Republican lawmakers expressed dissatisfaction with having to wear "Made in China" masks. In a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, they expressed "disbelief and outrage" that taxpayer money was being used to buy masks made in China, whereas products made in the United States and can replace the masks.

"China is perhaps America's greatest geopolitical adversary, and its government is responsible for the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic," the lawmakers said in the letter: "Every day there is new information that shows the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) efforts to hide and cover up the scale of the outbreak."

The lawmakers said the Chinese regime was covering up the outbreak, suppressing whistleblowers, and constantly obfuscating the origin of the virus, and that the U.S. "is inexcusable for spending taxpayer money to support the Chinese economy."

The news that the U.S. Congress purchased Chinese-made masks was also used by some Chinese state media for publicity.

The Global Times, a national tabloid under the Communist Party's People's Daily, published an unsigned article titled "China's testing kits, mask makers are still being used to fill U.S. supply gap," saying "Masks made in China", "The widespread use in the United States is a striking sign." The article also said that masks made in China "played an important role in supplying the United States."

Study: Lockdowns are costly and only reduce mortality by 0.2%

Reporter : Li Xin / Editor : Lin Yan / https://www.epochtimes.com/gb/22/2/2/n13550915.htm

After a meta-analysis of more than 20 studies conducted by Johns Hopkins University (JHU), it was found that the outbreak of the outbreak in the spring of 2020 In the first wave of covid, lockdown policies reduced mortality rates in the U.S. and Europe by only 0.2% by some metrics.

The study was conducted from the perspective of the impact of coronavirus lockdown measures on mortality, and the researchers included Johns Hopkins economics professor Steve Hanke, Lund University (Lund University in Sweden) Lars Jonung, professor of economics at the University, and Jonas Herby, special adviser to the Centre for Political Studies, a Danish think tank.

Using a systematic search and screening process, the study ultimately identified 24 studies that could be used for a meta-analysis and analysed lockdown measures such as stay-at-home orders, school closures, business closures and face mask orders, which contributed to covid deaths The effect of the rate is given.

The study was conducted in three different groups, with data from two groups showing that lockdowns in Europe and the United States reduced the covid death rate by an average of 0.2% and 2.9%, respectively. Another set of data showed similar results.

"We found little evidence that enforced lockdowns in Europe and the United States had a clear impact on COVID-19 mortality," the researchers wrote.

Not only that, but the study found that restricting gatherings may actually increase covid death rates. Because lockdown measures limit access to safe outdoor spaces such as beaches and parks, driving gatherings indoors that are less safe.

The only restriction found to be effective in reducing the death rate was the closure of non-essential businesses, which reduced the death rate by 10.6%, but the effect was likely caused by closing pubs, the study said.

The researchers also pointed to other unintended consequences of the lockdown, such as rising unemployment, reduced schooling, an increase in domestic violence and a spike in drug overdoses.

"Although this meta-analysis concludes that lockdowns have had little impact on public health, where they are already in place, they impose substantial economic and social costs," the researchers wrote.

"Such a standard benefit-cost calculation leads to a strong conclusion that lockdowns should be immediately rejected as a policy tool for a pandemic," the study noted.

Study: "Love hormone" could be blamed for male sex addiction

Sex-addicted men have long been accused of lacking self-discipline — but new research suggests there may be a scientific reason for their insatiable bedroom appetites.

A new study published Wednesday in the Endocrine Society’s Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism found that men with “hypersexual disorder” have “significantly higher” levels of oxytocin in their system.

The research could significantly change the way that hypersexual men are viewed by society — transforming them from lusty Lotharios with poor impulse control to helpless victims of their own biology.

Oxytocin — informally known as the “love hormone” — is naturally produced by both men and women and helps fuel positive emotions, like other hormones such as dopamine and serotonin.

According to Healthline, previous research has shown “couples in the first stages of romantic attachment had significantly higher levels of oxytocin than their unattached counterparts.”

Oxytocin is also credited with increasing levels of relaxation and trust — but the new study asserts that too much of the hormone could be a bad thing for men.

The study examined 64 males with hypersexual disorder, as well as 38 men who reported ordinary levels of sexual interest and arousal.

Researchers found “significant positive correlations between oxytocin levels and the rating scales measuring hypersexual behavior.”

“Oxytocin plays an important role in sex addiction and may be a potential drug target for future pharmacological treatment,” co-author Dr. Andreas Chatzittofis told Newswise.

Interestingly, the levels of oxytocin in the sex-addicted men significantly reduced after they underwent cognitive behavioral therapy — appearing to confirm that sex addiction can successfully be treated without pharmaceuticals.

Sex addiction is not recognized as a mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association, and many people have questioned whether it is a legitimate ailment or simply an excuse for bad behavior.

However, in 2018, compulsive sex behaviour was included in the World Health Organization’s International Classification of Diseases list for the first time.

WHO’s list describes compulsive sexual behaviour disorder as a “persistent pattern of failure to control intense, repetitive sexual impulses or urges resulting in a repetitive sexual behaviour.”

Symptoms include sex becoming the “central focus” of the person’s life at the neglect of health, personal care or interests and responsibilities. The behaviour should be clear for six months or more and cause distress in personal lives.

Sex addiction is officially a mental illness

Compulsive sex behaviour has been classified as a mental illness for the first time.

Its inclusion on the World Health Organization’s International Classification of Diseases list comes a few weeks after gaming addiction was added.

Dr. Valerie Voon, from the Royal College of Psychiatrists, said between 2 and 4 percent of the UK population suffer from compulsive sex behavior. In the US, it’s estimated to affect between 3 and 6 percent of adults.

She added, “It is a behaviour that tends to be hidden as it’s shameful and often sex addicts don’t come forward.

“Adding this to the WHO list is an excellent step for patients as it allows them to recognize that they are suffering with a problem — it takes it out of the shadows and they are able to seek help for it.”

WHO’s list describes compulsive sexual behaviour disorder as a “persistent pattern of failure to control intense, repetitive sexual impulses or urges resulting in a repetitive sexual behavior.”

Symptoms include sex becoming the “central focus” of the person’s life at the neglect of health, personal care or interests and responsibilities.

The behaviour should be clear for six months or more and cause distress in personal lives.

Voon said it may be treated alongside conditions such as depression and anxiety.

Ammanda Major, of the relationship charity Relate, also welcomed the move. She said, “We hear from many people unable to control their sexual behavior. This often negatively impacts on their lives and the wellbeing of partners and families.”
