In the morning of 27 March 2022, the Chinese Communist Party's official media CCTV released news that the second black box of China Eastern Yunnan flight MU5735 was found. However, the discovery was earlier reported by CAAC journalists at the crash site in Wuzhou on 25 March 2022.
According to the report on 27 March 2022, at about 9.20 am on the 27th, firefighters found an orange tank under the soil layer of 1.5 m on the slope on the east side of the crash site of the passenger plane. Experts confirmed that it was the second black box of the MU5735 jet, Details will be introduced at a subsequent press conference.
This black box is the flight data recorder and stores important data including flight path, speed, altitude and engine power. The China Civil Aviation News' report was titled "The Second Black Box Has Been Found! ", with only two words "Truly!"
The seven reporters are Liu Shaobin, Zhao Dan, Wang Yang, Zhang Fengfen, Feng Zhiqun, Hao Meng, and Li Leihong; in addition, editor Zhang Wei, proofreader Sun Wenjin, and reviewer Cheng Ling are also named in the report.
However the strange thing is that at 10.49 am that day, the party media Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, etc. joined forces to "refute the rumour", calling it "wrong news", the second black box "is still being searched", and the relevant information should be "in the form of "false news". That night, overseas pro-democracy activist Wang Dan posted on Facebook that the second black box might have been found but the authorities were not allowed to report it. In this case, "these seven journalists showed conscience and courage".
Wang Dan asked readers, "Where is the word 'truth' in the reporter group, do you believe in reporters or the Chinese (CCP) government?" Many netizens expressed doubts that the CCP concealed the truth.
Tang Jingyuan, a commentator on current affairs in the United States, analyzed in the "Foresight Quick Review" that "China Civil Aviation News" is a professional media in the civil aviation industry. According to common sense, it is not even clear whether what it finds is a black box.
