The local epidemic situation in the Republic of China continues to rise. Many confirmed patients have clearly improved their symptoms after taking "Qingguan No. 1" (NRICM101). Many people try to find prescriptions online to cook and drink by themselves, but this is a bad example! Who can consume "Qingguan No. 1"? How to eat? Can it be used as a health care product? The editor compiled the reminders from Feng Tianxiang, director of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Changhua Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and Huang Xianming, a Chinese and Western physician, to tell you the right time to use it.

Q1: What is "Qingguan No. 1"?

The prescription of "Taiwan Qingguan No. 1 Concentrated Preparation" is composed of 10 kinds of Chinese herbal medicines, including Scutellaria baicalensis, Houttuynia cordata, Radix isatidis, Trichosanthes, Nepeta mustard, mint, mulberry leaf, Magnolia officinalis, licorice root, and windproof. On 12 April, the "Covid Chinese Medicine Consultation and Staged Treatment Guidelines" issued a letter with the same mild prescriptions, which can be used to treat asymptomatic carriers and initial onset symptoms of covid, and are not used for preventive health care.

Eating "Qingguan No. 1" without a diagnosis may lead to negative effects! The doctor has published the guidelines for correct use. The doctor explained that Qingguan No. 1 is not for preventive use. If it is not diagnosed, it may have the opposite effect. (Schematic/shutterstock Dazhi Image)

Q2: If you want to "prevent" covid, can you eat Qingguan No. 1?

A Mingshi reminded that the purpose of Qingguan No. 1 is not "prevention". If it is "undiagnosed", taking Qingguan No. 1 first may have adverse effects.

Because "Qingguan No. 1" contains cold and detoxifying medicinal materials, such as Radix Isatidis, Houttuynia cordata, etc., it is used to fight against the body's virus and inflammatory response when infected with covi; if there is no virus or corresponding inflammatory response in the body, these heat-clearing detoxification herbs instead become a burden on the immune system, even destroying the yang qi and reducing the self-resistance.

Q3: What are the functions of "Qingguan No. 1"?

Feng Tianxiang explained that Qingguan No. 1 is a compound ingredient, which has been verified by clinical and basic research and has three major functions. First, it inhibits the binding of the covi (SARS-CoV-2) spine protein and reduces the virus infecting cells. Second, inhibit viral protein replicase and prevent virus production. Third, regulate cytokines to avoid the function of immune storm.

Q4: Can "Qingguan No. 1" maintain and enhance immunity?

Feng Tianxiang emphasized that Qingguan No. 1 is a therapeutic drug, and it must be diagnosed before taking it. If it is taken without a diagnosis, it may be cold due to the nature of the drug, causing side effects such as gastrointestinal discomfort, which is not good.

It is not correct to use Qingguan No. 1 to enhance immunity, and it is not suitable to cook it as tea, because each person's constitution is different, and the medication is different. If you want to enhance your own immunity, you can use qualified Chinese medicine practitioners to diagnose and prepare medicines according to your appropriate  constitution.

Image : The doctor reminded that Qingguan No. 1 should not be boiled and used as water. (Schematic/shutterstock Dazhi Image)

Q5: Where can I buy "Qingguan No. 1"?

The drug category of "Qingguan No. 1" is "must be prescribed by a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner", and the production period is approved until the day when the Central Epidemic Epidemic Command Center is disbanded. The public should be given the special drug "Taiwan Qingguan No. 1 Concentrated Preparation" after the clinical symptoms are diagnosed by a TCM physician. Those diagnosed should not go to the TCM clinic for treatment by themselves, so as to avoid the spread of community infection.

Q6: When should I use "Qingguan No. 1"?

Huang Xianming pointed out that the most ideal time to use "Qingguan No. 1" is "diagnosed" or "quick screening positive". After the communication and consultation of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, it is determined that this Qingguan No. 1 can help you before opening.

Feng Tianxiang also reminded that people should seek medical treatment if they are diagnosed with the disease. If they are willing to take Qingguan No. 1, they will be issued by a traditional Chinese medicine doctor who is suitable for diagnosis, and it will be paid for by public funds.
Image: The most ideal time to take Qingguan No. 1 is when the diagnosis or rapid screening is positive. (Schematic diagram/shutterstock Dazhi image)

At present, although Omicron is highly infectious, most of the cases are mild. In order to avoid going to the hospital and increase the risk of infection, and to maintain the capacity of the hospital to treat severe cases, the Ministry of Health and Welfare has also established an admission mechanism of "severe and mild triage". If the quick screening is positive, the "home care" model can be used. If Qingguan No. 1 meets the symptoms, it can be used in home care.

Q7: If I am taking western medicine, will there be any side effects when I take Qingguan No.1?

According to the report of the National Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qingguan No. 1 did not find any interaction between Chinese and Western medicines under the indications. However, there are hundreds of different types of constitutions and medicines for each person. For the most ideal way, please consult your family TCM physician directly for the most appropriate consultation.

Q8: I want to take Qingguan No. 1 but why does the TCM doctor want to prescribe other prescriptions for me instead?

A Mingshi bluntly said that "Qingguan No. 1" is a relatively standard prescription, but Taiwan's traditional Chinese medicine resources are the front-end class in the world. If a Chinese medicine practitioner wants to create other tailor-made prescriptions, he can better prescribe the right medicine, and he also wants to serve the patients and do more. Unless it is really inconvenient to have access to the TCM communication consultation, it is recommended to listen to the advice of your family TCM physician.

Q9: Which TCM clinics provide TCM physician communication consultation?

You can use the website of the Chinese Medicine Physicians Association to check the "Home Care Video-based Medical Clinics for COVID-19 Diagnosed Patients"

Q10: If I take Qingguan No. 1 for "mild symptoms", what should I pay attention to and still need to go to the doctor?

If the infected person has symptoms such as wheezing, difficulty breathing, persistent chest pain, chest tightness, unconsciousness, blue skin, lips or nail beds, please report to 119, the Health Bureau or 1922 immediately, and seek medical attention as directed.

The outbreak of the epidemic makes people nervous, and at this time, you need to calm your heart. Wear a mask, wash your hands frequently, protect yourself, and find ways to protect or treat yourself that can really help you.
Image : If you still have symptoms such as dyspnea, wheezing, and chest pain after taking Qingguan No. 1, you must seek medical attention. (Schematic/shutterstock Dazhi Image)

Q11: What else can I do if I want to supplement my resistance?

Master A Ming recommends a simple way to improve your resistance on weekdays, but it is better to ask your TCM physician to prescribe relevant prescriptions according to your physique in a timely manner.

*Oral administration: Lizhong Decoction and Xiaoxianxiong Decoction are used as the base to clear up the dampness and phlegm-heat from the chest diaphragm to the stomach, and then add detoxification or detoxification as needed. Mainly to protect stomach qi, not too cold.

*External wash: <Covi Medicated Bath Kit>
Huxiang, Atractylodes, Shichangpu, Perilla, Guanzhong, two copies each,
One portion each of grass fruit, mugwort leaves, and angelica.
Shower two to three times a week. Now that there is no water, you can soak or boil it in hot water, put it on the body at a suitable temperature, wait for five to seven minutes, and then rinse it off with water.

Taiwan rejects CCP's unification attempts

Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, an opinion poll found massive rejection of CCP China’s campaign to influence Taiwan, the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) said on 25 March 2022.

About 90% rejected Beijing’s continued claims that Taiwan was part of CCP China and their efforts to limit the smaller country’s international space and threaten it with military force, Radio Taiwan International (RTI) reported.

The survey found that 88.6% approved of the government seeking closer cooperation with other democracies in order to safeguard peace in the Taiwan Strait. More than 70% also voiced support for legislative efforts to prevent high-level technology experts from being lured to jobs in CCP China.

According to the poll results, 74.6% of Taiwanese judged CCP China to be hostile towards Taiwan’s government and 59.3% said it also showed an unfriendly attitude towards the people of Taiwan.

More than 80% approved of the government’s stance that the future of Taiwan and the development of relations with CCP China should be subject to a decision by Taiwan's 23-million population.

The survey was conducted on behalf of the MAC by National Chengchi University’s Election Study Center by phone between 17 and 21 March 2022, and obtained 1,086 valid responses with a margin of error of 2.97%.

Possible cure for dementia

Reporter : Victoria Allen, Daily Mail

A cure for dementia may have come a step closer after scientists found a way of repairing 'misfolded' proteins linked to the condition.

Researchers discovered a 'shock' to cells can reverse the abnormal build-up of proteins called amyloid beta in the brain.

When these proteins are misfolded, they end up sticky on the outside and clump together to form plaques – which is thought to kill brain cells and lead to Alzheimer's disease, a form of dementia.

It could help to explain research showing people who frequently use saunas in Finland are less likely to get dementia.

The team from the UK Dementia Research Institute at the University of Cambridge cautioned that the research, part-funded by the Alzheimer's Society, is in its early stages but Dr Edward Avezov, senior author of the study, said, "'Optimistically, in the future we could find a drug to awaken this mechanism we have discovered and prevent diseases like dementia."

There are no drugs to prevent dementia.

Scientists have struggled to remove amyloid beta clumps in the brain.

The study, published in the journal Nature Communications, identifies a potential means of preventing the build-up.

But shocking could cause stress that kills off brain cells. So experts are searching for a way to provoke a similar reaction in the brain, which could lead to a drug being developed.

Dr Richard Oakley, associate director of research at the Alzheimer's Society, said the study was a "game-changer for dementia research".

He added that it was a "step towards effective and safe treatments" for people with dementia.

Professor Tara Spires-Jones, from the University of Edinburgh, said, "This study adds to previous work which similarly showed stressing cells with cold instead of heat can protect them from misfolded proteins but a drug which targets these mechanisms is likely to be many years away."

U.S. Special Warfare Commander: Xi Jinping's four moves to attack Taiwan; U.S. must turn Taiwan into a "hedgehog"

The commander of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command said a few days ago that CCP Chinese leader Xi Jinping will definitely adjust his plan to attack Taiwan after seeing the West's response to the Russia-Ukraine war. The United States must assist Taiwan to become  an "indigestible hedgehog" for the CCP to counter Xi Jinping's four methods of attacking Taiwan.

General Richard Clarke, commander of U.S. Army Special Operations Command, spoke at the "Sedona Forum" at the McCain Institute in Arizona on  30 April 2022, according to VOA. In a discussion (Sedona Forum), in response to the question of how the United States assists Taiwan in resisting the CCP’s invasion, the CCP has seen from Ukraine how Western countries counteract and confront Russia.

He believes that the CCP may adjust its plan to attack Taiwan, and the United States must also be prepared accordingly.

"I hope Taiwan, like Ukraine, becomes an indigestible hedgehog. The Russian bears won't try to eat it, and neither will China," Clark said.

General Clark described the four steps that Xi may take to attack Taiwan.

First of all, Clark said that in order to complete the attack quickly, Xi Jinping will want to take the "capital city" (Taipei) first, and the capital city of Taiwan has a population of 2.5 million, just like Kyiv's population is also 2.5 million, and the entire city of Taiwan has a population of more than 2 million. There are about 4 or 5, and this kind of urban warfare must be fast.

Second, he said, Xi Jinping would argue that it cannot take months to build up military power, because that would give the international community time to build a coalition to confront. He believed that the intelligence declassified by the United States later showed that Washington had established an alliance so that all countries could come together to counter Russia's actions. "If it was a blitzkrieg attack, it would not be possible to form an alliance, and Xi Jinping would definitely see the situation."

Clark believes that the third step is that Xi Jinping will take measures to avoid the CCP being punished and influenced by economic sanctions; finally, Xi Jinping sees that Russia has failed in the information war, so it will change its strategy to control the space of information warfare.

In response to the CCP's attack on Taiwan, Clark said that what the United States must do is to think about what the United States can do based on Ukraine's experience in order to build Taiwan's resistance and resilience in the near future, "What are the things we can ensure in the future? months, not years, real capabilities in Taiwan."

The U.S. has proven itself to be a strong country, with many allies, and can wield great power whenever necessary, he said. "We can send high-end weapons systems into a country to build that resistance for them."

The domestic epidemic is severe, and the number of confirmed cases in children is intensifying. Although most of them have mild symptoms, there are still a few children with a rapid course of disease, which can become severe or even fatal. The Taipei Rong General Hospital previously treated two confirmed infants less than 6 months old because of coughs, fever, loss of appetite and dehydration symptoms were hospitalized, and one of the infants also developed croup. The physician noted that when a confirmed infant or toddler develops a severe cough such as barking, shortness of breath, hoarse voice, poor mobility, and loss of appetite, be sure to seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Since April 2022, more than 230,000 people have been diagnosed, and children under the age of 12 account for about 13.6%. Although most children infected with the virus have mild symptoms, there are still a small number of children who may develop severe disease or even fatal risks, and need to be treated with caution, especially for young infants who have insufficient resistance and cannot be vaccinated.

The 5-month-old Mumu and 3-month-old Enen were both infected by their family members and were hospitalized with symptoms of cough, fever, loss of appetite and dehydration. Among them, Mu Mu also suffered from croup. She had a severe cough at night until her voice was hoarse, and she was too weak to eat and was rushed to the hospital. Fortunately, her symptoms improved significantly after treatment by the medical team, and she had regained her former mental vitality and appetite.

Cheng Meizhi, director of Taipei Rongzong Medical Center, said that croup, also known as laryngotracheobronchitis, is a respiratory infection that occurs in infants. Symptoms such as stridor, hoarse voice, fever or runny nose are often complicated. Croup can be mild or severe, and often begins or worsens at night. In severe cases, there may be respiratory distress or even intubation. If it can be detected early Early treatment can prevent deterioration.

Foreign experience has also found that some infants and young children will develop croup after diagnosis. Therefore, if there are young children at home, you must be very careful. In addition to vaccination, wearing masks, washing hands frequently and keeping distance, if you are sick, you must be very careful. During the period of home isolation or self-health management, be sure to take isolation measures; if the baby is sick and is cared for at home, special attention should be paid to the child's breathing, such as severe cough such as dog barking, shortness of breath, hoarse voice, and poor activity. If you experience loss of appetite, seek medical attention as soon as possible.

In addition, Zheng Meizhi pointed out that if children aged 5-12 have risk factors such as obesity, diabetes and chronic lung disease, or children younger than 5 years old, they should pay attention to diseases such as premature birth, neurological disease, chronic lung disease, and congenital heart disease. There is a higher risk of progression to severe disease, and special attention is required.

1. There are 6 situations that need to be referred for video diagnosis and treatment or recommended hospitalization:
1. Those under one year old with symptoms
2. Fever for more than 48 hours or high fever > 39 degrees combined with chills/cold sweats
3. Persistent poor mobility after fever reduction
4. Persistent vomiting
5. No food or urine for more than 12 hours
6. Persistent shortness of breath/wheezing or chest tightness and chest pain after the fever subsides

2. Children with the following 6 symptoms should immediately call 119 or contact the 24-hour emergency medical consultation platform
1. Convulsions
2. Poor awareness
3. Difficulty breathing or chest concave phenomenon
4. Lip colour is whitish or purple
5. Blood oxygen saturation below 94%
6. Cold limbs combined with mottled skin and cold sweat

Xi Jinping's "struggle" speech just fell, Shanghai Secretary Li Qiang issued a military order

Xi Jinping recently stated that he would "fight" against the words and deeds that deny the zero-clearing policy. Shanghai Secretary Li Qiang immediately issued a "military order" to win the Shanghai defense war, which attracted attention.

Li Qiang wants to take the defense of Shanghai

On May 5, at the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Xi Jinping once again emphasized the "dynamic clearing" and asked local governments to fight against words and deeds that "distort," "doubt," and "denial" the clearing policy.

Current affairs commentator Yokogawa analyzed in the "Yokokawa Viewpoint" channel that Xi Jinping chaired the Standing Committee, and the focus was to justify the epidemic prevention policy, which shows that the rumors of high-level struggles are not groundless.

He said that the CCP’s Politburo Standing Committee meeting this time “is defending the CCP’s anti-epidemic policy, and it has risen to the height of the line struggle, which needs to be fought resolutely.” This shows that there is not only a lot of external pressure, but also a lot of internal disputes.

As soon as Xi Jinping's "struggle" voice fell, Shanghai Secretary Li Qiang presided over a mobilization meeting on the evening of the 6th, emphasizing the implementation of the spirit of Xi Jinping's speech and the unswerving general policy of "dynamic clearing". His positive statement aroused public attention.

Li Qiang also issued a "military order" at the meeting to win the battle to defend the Great Shanghai. It also requires that military orders be issued at all levels, guarantees are guaranteed step by step, specific to the individual, a comprehensive battle against the epidemic, and serious accountability for dereliction of duty.

Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng also made a statement at the meeting: Sweeping buildings, streets, and knocking on doors will be carried out to ensure that no households are missed and no one is left behind, so as to achieve the so-called social dynamic clearing.

At present, many districts in Shanghai have claimed to have achieved social dynamic clearing, but the closure and control measures are still severe. On the 6th, several communities in Shanghai Pudong and Baoshan received a "silent period" notice, requiring everyone to stay at home, and express delivery, takeaway and group purchases are all prohibited.

However, the public then received a notice that the "silent period" was suspended. However, some intersections and communities were blocked by barbed wire at night, and couriers could not enter.

Netizens said, "Say silence in the morning, hold off at noon, install barbed wire quietly at night, change the order of the day, and slap yourself in the face!"

Shanghai lockdown, Li Qiang's 20th major career attracts attention

At present, Shanghai has been closed for more than a month, which has become the focus of attention at home and abroad, and has also cast a shadow on Li Qiang's career.

Li Qiang is a close associate of Xi Jinping. From 2002 to 2007, when Xi was in power in Zhejiang, Li Qiang was the secretary-general of the provincial party committee and was Xi's big housekeeper. He was once considered a popular candidate to join the Politburo Standing Committee at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China this year, and may even become the next premier of the State Council.

However, with the closure of the city due to the epidemic in Shanghai, secondary disasters and various chaos have shocked public opinion. Zhang Wuyue, director of the Research Center for Cross-Strait Relations at Taipei's Tamkang University, told VOA that if the Shanghai epidemic cannot be brought under control in a short period of time, Li Qiang's career may be affected as a result.

He said that this is a lesson from the previous experience. The epidemic broke out in Wuhan two years ago. Jiang Chaoliang, then secretary of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee, and Ma Guoqiang, the secretary of the Wuhan Municipal Party Committee, both resigned after Wuhan was closed.

Kou Jianwen, director of the International Relations Research Center at National Chengchi University in Taipei, also believes that the closure of Shanghai has impacted the economy, affecting Xi Jinping's prestige, and also bringing uncertainty to Li Qiang's career. "Some people may be killed as an example."

The chaotic closure of the city in Shanghai is accused of being related to the passive resistance of local officials to the zero-clearing policy. Shanghai is the stronghold of the anti-Xi faction Jiang Zemin.

The Epoch Times commentator Yue Shan said that an insider in Shanghai told him that Han Zheng, the vice-premier who had been in charge of Shanghai for a long time, had collected a lot of opinions against Li Qiang.

Han Zheng was once considered Jiang Zemin's big housekeeper in Shanghai. Many officials in Shanghai were Han Zheng's former subordinates. After he entered Beijing, he still controlled the officialdom in Shanghai.

Yue Shan said, therefore, Li Qiang had to hold consecutive meetings to call on officials to cooperate, listen to Xi's instructions, and not lie down.

Fauci: The CCP's zero epidemic prevention policy is a disaster

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the chief medical adviser to US President Biden, said that in the face of the covid pandemic, the CCP's Policy is a "disaster". Locking down and waiting for the virus to go away is not feasible, he said.

Fauci made the remarks earlier this week in an interview with Foreign Policy editor-in-chief Ravi Agrawal. According to the interview transcript (link) released by the media on 4 May, Fauci believes that the CCP’s dynamic clearing policy is too strict but it fails to achieve the purpose of isolation.

"If you're going to shut down a country and go into a lockdown, the first thing you have to realize is that the lockdown is just a temporary measure," Fauci said. Vulnerable groups such as the elderly have to be protected.

"China (the Chinese Communist Party) is clearly not doing this." Fauci said that despite the strict lockdown measures imposed by the Chinese authorities, the (effective) vaccination rate is very low, especially among particularly vulnerable elderly people.

Fauci dismissed the efficacy of CCP China's vaccines, saying: "The vaccines they use are, frankly, not as effective as the vaccines used elsewhere in the world."

Fauci further explained that lockdowns and quarantines must be conducted meaningfully.

"If you just lock down and wait for the virus to go away, that's not going to happen," he said. "(Lockdown) has to have a purpose, which is: to prepare the community for the inevitable influx of the virus."

He believes that Shanghai's current epidemic prevention work is "a disaster", and Beijing may soon follow.

In fact, the CCP's extreme anti-epidemic measures have not only seriously disrupted people's livelihood and economy, but also greatly affected the global supply chain. At present, Shanghai, where the epidemic has continued to spread, has been closed for more than a month, and secondary disasters are frequent. Various chaos include: the hospital refused to treat acute and severe cases during the strict closure and control period, resulting in the deaths of patients in the emergency rooms, and some people jumping off the buildings due to difficult illnesses. Some people are desperate because of lack of food.

At the same time, the epidemic in Beijing is continuing to heat up and has spread to 15 districts. The CCP authorities acknowledge that there are invisible chains of transmission in the community, and control measures are escalating. A few days ago, 64 subway stations in Beijing were closed, and 158 bus lines were suspended, abandoned or detoured, and a large number of citizens had to use bicycles to go to work. (learn more)

Fauci: U.S. outbreak out of acute fulminant stage

When it comes to the status of the epidemic in the United States, Fauci said that although it is still in the midst of a pandemic, it is out of the "acute fulminant stage."

Fauci said, "The number of cases has dropped dramatically. Our daily number of deaths, down to one-tenth of what it used to be. There are also far fewer hospitalizations, the number of cases has dropped from 900,000 a day to about 15,000." He also said that according to data from European countries, the BA.2 variant (dominant in Europe) does not appear to have caused an increase in the number of hospitalizations and severe cases in the U.S.

He also said that wearing a mask should be a "personal decision" as long as it is not in a crowded indoor environment.

"If I'm in a room with several people and I know their vaccination status, I wouldn't necessarily wear a mask," Fauci said.
