Dialogue with the Chinese People, Pompeo: The CCP's biggest enemy is the people

The Washington think tank and Hudson Institute "China Center", "Night Chat with Pompeo: A Message to the Chinese People", Pompeo pointed out that the CCP lied Represents the whole of China, but "the CCP does not represent the Chinese people", but is committed to being the enemy of the Chinese people.

Pompeo, chairman of the advisory committee of the Hudson Institute's China Center, said, "Our purpose in making these films is very simple, to talk directly to the Chinese about U.S.-China relations. The CCP is a one-party dictatorship political organization dedicated to mutating, opposing the ideology of the Chinese people. It started out as a group of brutal and radical extremists, and obviously that essence hasn't changed much."

"The most tragic massacre in history was Mao Zedong, and most of its victims were Chinese, as did Deng Xiaoping, who murdered Chinese people fighting for democracy in Tiananmen Square. Xi Jinping today continues that kind of thinking left over from communism, for the CCP .In other words, the Chinese people are its worst enemy, and I know that judgment is correct because all my interactions with CCP leaders have convinced me that what the CCP really cares about is maintaining control over the Chinese people.”

On the occasion of Xi Jinping's visit, Pompeo posted a video revealing that the CCP fears the most

习近平出访之际 蓬佩奥发视频揭中共最怕

When General Secretary Xi Jinping of the Communist Party of China visited Kazakhstan on September 14, former US Secretary of State Pompeo released a video to expose the true face of the CCP. The first video he posted was titled "The Chinese Communist Party does not represent the Chinese people."

Xi Jinping started his first overseas visit in three years on 14 September. During this three-day visit, Kazakhstan was the first stop of Xi's trip. His next stop is Uzbekistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit but what international public opinion is most concerned about is the meeting between Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The meeting between Xi Jinping and Putin was regarded by the media as a group to warm up with each other's concerns and what they needed. In the face of sanctions and containment by Western countries, the CCP and Russia have become increasingly isolated. What kind of signal Xi Jinping will send to the international community after the meeting with Putin has attracted much attention.

On the occasion of Xi Jinping’s visit, the Hudson Institute, a Washington think tank, announced at a press conference on 13 September, local time, that Pompeo will release a series of videos from that day to have a direct dialogue with the Chinese people.

The Hudson Institute announced the establishment of the "China Center" in May this year. The center is chaired by former Secretary of State Pompeo, who has a clear anti-communist stance, and Miles Yu Maochun, a former senior China policy adviser to the U.S. State Department, is the strategy director of the centre.

In the first video released by the Hudson Institute, Pompeo said: "We made these videos for a very simple purpose: to speak directly to the Chinese people about the China-U.S. relationship . . . and we do it for a reason. Yes, because the Chinese Communist Party does not represent the Chinese people.”

Pompeo said in the video, "The CCP is a one-party dictatorship political organization, it is a hoax, and it is committed to an ideology that is hostile to the Chinese people. It was originally a group of brutal and radical extremists, frankly To put it mildly, this nature has not changed much.”

"All my interactions with Chinese leaders have convinced me that what the Chinese Communist Party really cares about is maintaining control over the Chinese people," Pompeo said.

Pompeo also said, "The biggest lie the CCP tells is that it claims to represent China and Chinese civilization. . . . If Beijing thought it really represented the Chinese people, it would not spend more than defense spending money to suppress and monitor the Chinese people. If it really represents the Chinese people, the CCP should hold free and fair elections tomorrow. But it won’t do such a thing, because the so-called People’s Republic is actually its own people as its enemy ."

Pompeo and Yu Maochun are the most explicit anti-communist pioneers of the U.S. government in the Trump era. Pompeo has repeatedly proposed to separate the CCP from the Chinese people during his tenure as U.S. Secretary of State. "The United States has always cherished its friendship with the Chinese people, but the Chinese government and the Chinese people are not the same thing," he said.

On 23 July 2020, when Secretary of State Pompeo delivered a speech on China policy, he called on the world and the Chinese people to "change the behaviour of the Chinese Communist Party." "If the free world doesn't change communist China, communist China will change us," he said.

Pompeo made it clear that the Chinese Communist Party does not represent the Chinese people. He said that the biggest lie of the Communist Party is to "voice for the 1.4 billion Chinese people", but in fact the Chinese people are "monitored, suppressed and afraid to express dissent".

Pompeo's above-mentioned remarks were called by the outside world as a "discussion letter" published by the US government. Since the sword pointed directly at the CCP, and at the same time repeatedly clarified that it was not aimed at the Chinese people, this was considered to be the most feared by the CCP.

"Crossroads" host Tang Hao previously analyzed, "Pompeo has hit the CCP's point of death and exposed the CCP's cover, so the CCP is quite afraid."

Tang Hao believes that Pompeo has publicly stated several times that "China is not equal to the CCP", clearly distinguishing the Chinese people from the Chinese Communist Party.

Does Xi Jinping have a purpose? Yu Maochun and Pompeo remind the Chinese

Xi Jinping and Putin are about to attend the summit in Uzbekistan, and the United States has been observing Xi Jinping and Putin's actions. If the CCP is caught helping Russia, the sword of sanctions hanging over its head will fall directly on its forehead. Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his former senior adviser Yu Maochun recently reminded the Chinese once again to recognize the true face of the CCP.

The Kremlin said on the 14th that Putin and Xi Jinping will hold a meeting in Uzbekistan on 15 September 2022 to discuss the issues of Ukraine and Taiwan, and said that given the geopolitical situation, the meeting is of special significance.

Beijing has so far not publicly offered any help to Russia. Russia is expected to struggle to find support from its allies as Ukraine's counteroffensive has ripped the Russian army sharply in recent days. On the 13th, the United States Limited News Network analyzed that Putin is playing the China card and wants to drag the CCP into the water.

If the CCP accepts Russia’s trick this time, the consequences may face severe international sanctions. The Axis Act issued by the United States in April is waiting to sanction the CCP, but why does Xi Jinping want to meet Putin?

Reuters reported that China is Russia's largest oil buyer and one of the main sources of revenue for Moscow's treasury. The meeting gave Xi an opportunity to emphasize his influence, while Putin could show Russia's tilt toward Asia, and both could show their disapproval of the United States.

Miles Yu Maochun, the former chief adviser on China policy of the U.S. State Department and director of the Hudson Institute’s China Center, recently wrote an article analyzing that the CCP’s war against Taiwan is  fake.

Yu Maochun wrote, "The CCP's grand strategy of constant provocation in the Taiwan Strait is to promote the CCP's global struggle against the United States, the leader of the world's democratic countries." "All major crises in the Taiwan Strait are for the CCP provoked by the grand strategy to promote this confrontation with the United States."

He said, "The CCP's purpose is to maximize tensions in the Taiwan Strait and coerce the U.S. leadership, which is deemed weak, to cooperate with Beijing on CCP terms and undermine the global prestige and leadership of the United States.”

The Hudson Institute, a Washington-based think tank, recently established a China Center, with former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo serving as the chairman of the advisory committee.

On 13 September 2022, Pompeo began to release a series of videos to directly talk to the Chinese people. He specifically mentioned that the Chinese government does not represent the Chinese people. If the Chinese government truly believed that it represented the people, Beijing would not spend more money than defense spending to suppress and monitor the people. The CCP hates the United States because they fear that the Chinese people will be inspired by the American example of liberal democracy.

Li Zhanshu rarely publicly supports Putin's invasion of Ukraine, sending a strong signal

After Li Zhanshu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, visited Russia last week, news emerged that the third-ranking member of the Communist Party of China publicly expressed his support for Russia's invasion of Ukraine in a rare tone.

Li Zhanshu's visit to Russia did not attract special attention from Chinese public opinion at first, until an online video quickly spread on social media such as Twitter. The video shows a speech during a long-table meeting between Li Zhanshu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and Vyacheslav Volodin, the speaker of the Russian State Duma.

Li Zhanshu said: "On issues involving Russia's core interests and some major key issues, China fully understands and supports Russia."

He also said: "The United States and NATO are directly pressing against Russia's door. ... Russia has taken some measures it thinks should be taken, and China understands it and provides support from different aspects." Li Zhanshu said, "It can be said that Russia Forced into a corner, a counterattack was taken to safeguard the core interests of the country."

"The clearest statement" of CCP's support of Russia invasion

Although he did not directly mention the Ukraine war, the "New York Times" report believes that this is Beijing's most explicit support to date for Russia's war in Ukraine.

The passage did not appear in Chinese state media coverage of the talks. "The Chinese side is willing to firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, and transform high-level political mutual trust into more practical cooperation outcomes," Xinhua said in a statement.

The content of Li Zhanshu's remarks in the hotly circulated video is consistent with a statement issued by the Russian State Duma quoted by Deutsche Presse Presse, CNN and other media on the talks between China and Russia.

Many Chinese Twitter users believed that the speech proved Beijing's stance of supporting Russia, which it has been trying to hide: "It's a real hammer! It's tied together!"; "Li Zhanshu's speech in Russia directly betrayed China"; some netizens were angry and pointed out that Li Zhanshu not only expressed his understanding of Russia's war behavior, but also "cooperated". "This visit to Russia should be regarded as a contemporary national humiliation."

Since the outbreak of the Ukrainian War, although China has always fought against Russia’s so-called core interests being ignored by the West and refused to condemn Russia’s aggression, it has always tried to show its neutrality in international public occasions, and so far has not provided Russia with direct assistance except for energy trade. support.

Li Zhanshu praised Russia's economy "'not overwhelmed by sanctions"

In Moscow, Li Zhanshu also thanked Russia for its firm support to China on the Taiwan issue, and said the NPC and the Russian Duma are willing to "strengthen state governance and anti-interference, anti-sanction, anti-long-arm jurisdiction, etc.," Xinhua reported. Exchange of Legislative Experience in Aspects".

The Ukraine war situation has changed significantly since last weekend. The Ukrainian army's counteroffensive progressed rapidly, and the Russian army retreated steadily and fell into a passive state.

In this context, a video of Li Zhanshu's speech at the Eastern Economic Forum hosted by Russia in Vladivostok before he went to Moscow also caused discussion on the Internet.

He said, "The Russian economy has not been crushed by severe sanctions from the United States and the West, but has achieved stability in a relatively short period of time and demonstrated resilience. ... The economic performance is significantly better than expected." He announced that China will further strengthen cooperation with Russia. All-round cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, finance, science and technology, education, and culture.

Li Zhanshu supports the "Russia-Ukraine war" remarks, may expand the scope of foreign sanctions against China. Scholars: Hong Kong may be implicated

Some analysts pointed out that together with the recent pressure from the United States on the issue of the CCP's interference with Taiwan, the risk of EU sanctions on China has increased greatly, and it cannot be ruled out that Hong Kong, which has been regarded as a "Chinese city" by the international community, is involved.

Chinese President Xi Jinping started his first foreign visit for 3 consecutive days on Wednesday (14 September) and attended the "Shanghai Cooperation Summit" held in Uzbekistan. At that time, whether the first "Xi-Putin meeting" after the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war is realized, and whether the meeting will be held, whether or not the Russia-Ukraine issue will be discussed at the meeting has attracted much attention from the outside world. A few days ago, when Li Zhanshu, the third-ranking figure of the CCP and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, visited Russia, the Russian side unilaterally released a clip saying that “Li Zhanshu has clearly stated his support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine”, breaking the Chinese side’s silent attitude in the past. Some analysts pointed out that the current situation in China is "quite embarrassing" under the Russian side's defeat in the Russia-Ukraine war. They also pointed out that together with the United States' recent pressure on China's harassment of Taiwan, the risk of EU sanctions on China has greatly increased.  Hong Kong as a "Chinese city" may be implicated.

Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the "Shanghai Cooperation Summit" held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan for three consecutive days from Wednesday (14th). According to Russian reports, Xi Jinping will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin at that time.

Li Zhanshu: "China supports Russia" on the Russia-Ukraine issue

However, there was an "interlude" beforehand. Russian state-run TV recently broadcast that when Li Zhanshu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Congress, was invited to visit Russia last Thursday (8th), he made it clear to Russian dignitaries that "China supports Russia" on the Russia-Ukraine issue. The strongest statement of support for Russia to date is in line with a simultaneous statement by the Russian Duma.

Li Zhanshu said, "China also expresses its understanding and full support to Russia on issues concerning Russia's core interests and some important major concerns. The current Ukraine issue, the United States and NATO are directly pressing Russia's doorstep, involving Russia's national security and people's life safety, then in this case, Russia should take some measures, China is understanding, and different from different aspects to give support. In my opinion, it can be said that Russia was forced to a corner. In this case, Russia took some counterattacks in order to safeguard the core interests of the country."

However, this station recently checked the official website of the Russian Duma, and the suspicious statement has been updated, but it still emphasizes "Li Zhanshu's 'complete understanding' of Russia's position on the invasion of Ukraine, and accuses the United States that the cause of the war is the United States. The CCP's official reports have so far , there is still no statement that Li Zhanshu mentioned the situation in Ukraine.

This episode drew the outside world's attention to the "Xi-Putin meeting" in the next two days. At present, the CCP official still only says that Xi Jinping will participate in the "SCO summit", but has not announced that Xi Jinping will meet Putin.

Scholar: Li Zhanshu's visit to Russia to "test the water temperature", the current situation in China is "quite embarrassing"

Huang Weiguo, a former assistant professor at the Department of Politics and International Relations at Hong Kong Baptist University, told this station that the current situation in China is "quite embarrassing." He believes that the Chinese side is not happy to see the Russian side lose the war, so as to avoid the "Su Dongpo effect", especially on the Taiwan Strait issue "repeating the mistakes of the Russian side"; We should not be too supportive of the Russian side. Therefore, as Russia is losing ground in the Russian-Ukrainian war, China may wish to send Li Zhanshu to Russia to "test the water" before the "Xi-Pu meeting".

Huang Weiguo said, "Li Zhanshu may be sent as a test to find out what the actual requirements are after the actual meeting, and whether it will require more obvious cooperation from the Chinese side. The most embarrassing thing now is that if China helps Russia too much, it may lead to economic sanctions against China by the liberal and democratic camp (countries) led by the United States, which will worsen China's current economy but now, if Russia fails to help, it is not cost-effective in China's calculations. The Chinese side does not want to see Russia defeated, the most extreme is Putin's resignation, and the whole of Russia has become divided. China does not want this demonstration effect. It is possible that Xi Jinping will not see Putin temporarily in the end. Xi Jinping's meeting with Putin was a bit of a gamble because he was meeting a leader of a country that was losing power.

If the situation in Russia, Ukraine and the Taiwan Strait continues to deteriorate, the EU may increase the scope of sanctions against CCP China, which may affect Hong Kong

Reuters reported on Tuesday, citing sources, that the United States is considering expanding sanctions on Beijing to prevent China from invading Taiwan after Russia invaded Ukraine in February, and the measures may go beyond what the West is currently taking on trade with the mainland and technology restrictions while Taiwan is lobbying the EU for the same.

News (9)

Hong Kong may be sanctioned unless punitive measures to restrict CCP-funded entities in Hong Kong are taken

Huang Weiguo pointed out that if the current situation in Russia, Ukraine and the Taiwan Strait continues to deteriorate, it cannot be ruled out that the European Union will follow the United States to impose sanctions on CCP China. In view of the fact that the United Kingdom first cited the National Security and Investment Law to prevent "Hong Kong Super Orange Holdings" from acquiring software company Pulsic, and it was revealed that Chinese state-owned enterprises were involved, Huang believes that sanctions from the European Union and the United States may affect Hong Kong at that time.

Huang Weiguo said, "Frankly speaking, China and Hong Kong are the same now. If China is sanctioned, will there be specific measures against Hong Kong? If the sanctions are symbolic, it is possible to sanction Hong Kong judges in response to the "Hong Kong National Security Law" after the US sanctions against Hong Kong officials earlier. Therefore, restrict CCP-funded institutions and consortia in Hong Kong and take punitive measures.

Huang Weiguo believes that, according to what he has seen in the past, if Hong Kong is sanctioned, the John Lee government "will be caught off guard", and even if there are counter-sanctions measures, "it will not be able to do it unconditionally", or it will only be a "wolf warrior-style abuse".

CCP-Russia alliance put to the test after Russia invasion of Ukraine

Reporters : Li Lan and Paul Greaney / https://www.ntdtv.com/gb/2022/09/16/a103529303.html / Image : Video Screenshot

Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on 15 September 2022. The two sides sought each other's support on Taiwan and Ukraine issues.

This "Xi-Putin meeting" is the first face-to-face meeting between the two since Russia invaded Ukraine in February this year. This comes at a time when Russia is facing major setbacks on the Ukrainian battlefield and is increasingly isolated from the West.

Putin praised China's so-called "balanced" stance in the Russian invasion war and said he understood Xi's doubts and concerns about the situation in Ukraine.

On the Taiwan issue, Putin condemned the actions of the United States in the Taiwan Strait and expressed support for the "one China" policy.

Xi Jinping said the Taiwan issue "will not tolerate interference".

Rep. Ken Buck, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, said, "I think they have similar interests. They both want to rule the world, and they both believe in things that have nothing to do with democracy, nothing to do with capitalism."

During this meeting, Xi Jinping's ambitions were once again revealed.

Xi Jinping said, "China (CCP) is willing to work with Russia to reflect the responsibility of a major country and play a leading role."

Retired U.S. General Robert Spalding said that in order to ensure national security, the U.S. government should establish a strong political will to resolve the CCP as an adversary, and he believes that it should dare to decouple from the CCP.

Retired General Robert Spalding, senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, said, "Putin should not have invaded Ukraine; Xi Jinping will invade Taiwan, which I think is a huge mistake, but I think he will do it anyway, which comes from totalitarian arrogance and incompetence of authoritarian governments. If we (America) let it go, America will become like China.”

The American "Foreign Policy" magazine reported on 15 September that Xi Jinping has got what he wants.

Li Zhanshu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on 7 September 2022, revealed, "On the current Ukraine issue, the United States and NATO are directly pressing Russia's door... Russia has taken some measures that should be taken. China understands and will cooperate and render support to Russia from different aspects."

As for how Xi Jinping's administration will "cooperate" with Putin in the future, it is being highly concerned by the international community.

After Li Zhanshu clearly supported Russia, Putin met Xi Jinping and praised his "balanced" stance

栗战书明确挺俄后 普京见习近平赞其“平衡”立场

The Russian parliament released a speech on the visit of Li Zhanshu, chairman of the National People's Congress of the Communist Party of China, exposing the Communist Party's pro-Russian stance. Russian President Vladimir Putin later met with Xi Jinping and praised China's "balanced" stance in the Russian-Ukrainian war.

According to Reuters, on 15 September 2022, Chinese and Russian leaders who attended the SCO summit in Uzbekistan held a face-to-face meeting.

During the meeting, Putin said he "highly attached great importance to the 'balanced' stance of Chinese friends on the Ukraine crisis" and said he understood Xi's "questions and concerns" on the issue, the report said.

He added, "At today's meeting, of course we will explain our position."

Reuters reported that Xi Jinping has never spoken out on the Russia-Ukraine war in public speeches. China's state-run CCTV reported on the meeting that Xi had promised "strong support for Russia on issues related to Russia's 'core interests'".

A few days ago, Li Zhanshu, the No. 3 figure in the CCP and an ally of Xi Jinping, visited Russia. The Chinese Communist Party's official media also only stated that when Li Zhanshu met with Russian dignitaries, China and Russia expressed their willingness to "firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns", and there was no Ukrainian word.

However, the Russian State Duma has successively released the speech text and live video of Li Zhanshu's visit, showing that Li Zhanshu clearly expressed his "full understanding and support" for Russia's actions in Ukraine, and said that China is "cooperating in different aspects" ".

After Russia invaded Ukraine, despite the condemnation of the international community, the CCP has been supporting Russia in public opinion, economy and diplomacy, and has held joint military exercises with Russia one after another but so far, there have been no reports of the CCP publicly providing military support.

According to the "Washington Post", Russia asked the CCP to provide "new forms of economic support" but the CCP was afraid that the United States and its allies would cut off the supply of key technologies to China or sanction the CCP's financial system, so it refused Russia's request . The social platform Telegram then leaked a message purportedly from inside the Kremlin, saying that Putin had yelled at Beijing at an internal meeting.

However in public, Putin expressed his understanding of China's concerns about its own "national interests", claiming that Beijing "doesn't need to cater to Russia on all issues."

Public opinion believes that the CCP and Russia need to "unite for warmth" despite being isolated by the international community but Beijing also needs to "find a balance" between supporting Moscow and angering the West.

Chinese diplomats have repeatedly said they "remain neutral" in the Russia-Ukraine war. However, before Li Zhanshu’s visit to Russia was made public, Russia had repeatedly exposed the pro-Russian stance of CCP officials, as well as other actions that were accused of “betraying” the CCP. For example, the official Weibo of the Russian embassy in China once praised the "outstanding performance" of DJI drones on the battlefield. DJI hastily issued a statement saying that its drones can only be used for "civilian use".

Xi's visit to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and meeting with Putin is his first overseas trip since the covid outbreak.

In his meeting with Xi, Putin also made clear his support for China on the Taiwan issue, according to Reuters. He said Russia "firmly supports the 'one China' principle and 'condemns' the 'provocation' of the United States and its allies in the Taiwan Strait."

According to a press release issued by the CCP's official media, when meeting with Li Zhanshu, Russian parliamentary leaders also expressed their support for Beijing on the Taiwan issue but the Russian State Duma's public statement about the meeting with Li Zhanshu did not mention Taiwan at all.

Expert: Sino-Russian alliance threatens existing international order

专家:中俄联盟威胁现存的国际秩序

Regardless of whether there is a formal treaty between Beijing and Moscow, CCP China and Russia will form an alliance against the United States and its allies, an expert said.

"It might be a stopgap, but sometimes it's enough to cause a lot of trouble for the civilized world," said Grant Newsham, a senior fellow at the Center for Security Policy, a US think tank. There is some kind of alliance...but there is real cooperation between these two dictatorships."

Newsom made the above remarks in an interview with English-language New Tang Dynasty Television (NTD) on September 13. The interview came days before a meeting between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On September 15, Xi Jinping and Putin, who attended the SCO summit in Uzbekistan, held a meeting. Chinese and Russian diplomats said the two leaders would use the opportunity to discuss Ukraine and Taiwan and plan how best to change the trajectory of the international order.

The outside world is worried that more "cooperation" between CCP China and Russia is in the pipeline.

"It's always important to keep in mind that while they may not have signed an agreement, it's definitely an exchange of ideas between two countries, and it's not good for democracy and freedom," Newsom said.

Just days before Putin and Xi Jinping met, Ukraine launched a counterattack against Russia and has already regained one-tenth (about 8,000 square kilometers) of territory occupied by Russian troops. As a result, Putin may be more eager than ever to cement his partnership with China.

For Russia, the meeting is an opportunity to prove to the world that it is not alone. For the CCP, the meeting also provided an opportunity to advocate for an alternative to a CCP-led challenge to the rules-based international order.

Newsom sees this as yet another symbol of the growing Sino-Russian partnership and an indicator of China’s tacit support for a Russian invasion.

"When the invasion of Ukraine started, the CCP actually issued an order to its propaganda department and (media) establishment: Don't say anything bad about Russia, because when (we invaded) Taiwan, we wanted Russia's support." Newsom said.

"So this willingness to shut up about aggression and raise a flag about what Russia is doing is invaluable to the Russians."

In addition, Newsom said CCP is observing and studying Russia's strategic missteps in Ukraine and using its newly collected observations to prepare for its own invasion of Taiwan.

“[The Chinese Communist Party] was watching the attack from the very beginning and calculating what it was actually doing when it attacked Taiwan, and what didn’t work well for Russia. It’s pretty obvious,” Newsom said.

Newsom warned that the CCP leadership will not see Russia's many failures in Ukraine as a reason not to go to war with Taiwan, but will see itself as capable of doing better.

"Unfortunately, what the CCP will do is, they will look at what Russia has done wrong, and they will try to do better [in these areas] or do it differently," Newsom said. "I don't think this will really change Xi Jinping's mind that if the time comes, he's going to take and enslave Taiwan."

The West stopped buying Russian energy, the CCP took the opportunity to resell it for huge profits

Moscow is looking for a new energy alternative market after a Russia invasion of Ukraine triggered sanctions by Western countrie and China is buying more and cheaper Russian energy and benefiting from plunging purchases in Europe.

This growing "cooperation" will deepen as CCP leader Xi Jinping meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Uzbekistan on 15 September.

China gets cheaper energy while Russia is able to offset lost energy exports due to Western sanctions. After the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, the European Union and its allies imposed a number of economic sanctions on Moscow. However, Moscow has always called it a "special military operation".

Closer Sino-Russian ties have also prompted the two countries to use the RMB and ruble in goods trade, reducing their reliance on the U.S. Dollar.

China is the world's largest energy consumer and the largest buyer of crude oil, liquefied natural gas and coal. Between April and July, Chinese imports of Russian crude oil rose 17% from the same period a year earlier.

Meanwhile, China has also bought more than 50 percent of its LNG and 6 percent of its coal from Russia, while electricity imports from Russia have surged 39 percent. Imported electricity is mainly through transnational transmission lines linking northeastern China and the Russian Far East.

So far this year, China has bought $43.68 billion in oil, gas, coal and electricity from Russia.

Russia is CCP China's largest crude oil supplier, China profiteering from selling Russian oil

From May to July 2022, Russia became China's largest crude oil supplier, accounting for 19% of China's imports, compared with 15% in the same period in 2021, according to Chinese customs data.

The German bank ING said in August that China's share of crude oil imports from Russia could grow to more than 20 percent this year.

China’s purchases of Russian oil between April and July saved about $3 billion relative to other imports, according to Reuters calculations based on customs data. On average, China buys Russian crude at around $708/ton, while imports from other countries are at $816/ton.

In terms of LNG, China’s imports from Russia in the first seven months were up 26% from a year earlier, while July exports jumped to 66,798 tonnes, the highest since 2019, as exports to Europe jumped to 66,798 tonnes, the data showed. and Japan re-export.

"China is taking advantage of disrupted trade flows, including buying discounted Russian oil and LNG cargoes, while reselling energy back to Europe at higher prices to provide profitable trade." Credit Suisse Integrated Energy and said Saul Kavonic, director of resource research.

The Chinese market is a long-term positive for Russia's energy supply. That prompted China and Russia to reach an agreement in February to launch a new pipeline from Russia over the next two or three years.

China is building coal inventory

China’s coal imports from Russia surged in July to the highest level in at least five years. Europe halted imports of Russian coal before the ban took effect on 11 August 2022.

While Russian supply meets only 1% of Chinese demand, some traders expect more Russian coal to reach China in the fourth quarter when utilities build inventories for the winter heating season.

Analysts say that while China can reap huge profits, Russia is more dependent on the trade.

"No matter how the war is resolved, it is clear that Russia can no longer rely on its main energy export market in Europe for the foreseeable future, and the pace of its energy and commodity exports to the east is bound to accelerate." Tilak Doshi said.

On the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between China and Japan, the Japanese society calls for the cancellation of the commemorative activities

Reporter : Toshiko Shimizu, NTDTV's Japanese correspondent station / https://www.ntdtv.com/gb/2022/09/15/a103529121.html

September 29 is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between CCP China and Japan. Japanese officials and private people will hold commemorative ceremonies. However, the CCP has frequently provoked and threatened Japan, deteriorating the relationship between the two countries. Recently, some Japanese media and many lawmakers have called on the government to suspend all commemorative activities.

Japan’s Sankei Shimbun recently published an editorial claiming that holding a ceremony in Japan to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the normalization of Sino-Japanese diplomatic relations in the context of a series of hostile military actions by the CCP against Japan may “send the wrong message to China” . At the same time, Japanese society has also continued to voice its opposition to the celebration.

Keiki Taguchi, a member of Hirakata City Council, Japan, "So far, the CCP has repeatedly invaded Japan's territorial waters and held military exercises. It is a country that conducts diplomacy by intimidation. I hope the CCP can understand that it will not gain any benefits. I think the commemorative activities should be cancelled. For the commemoration of Japan-China diplomatic relations, solving problems is something worth celebrating."

Senator Soda pointed out that various places in Japan have begun to protest against holding related celebrations.

Sennan City Council Member Shiori Soda said, "Mayors and local leaders across Japan are questioning whether they can establish friendly relations with a country that has launched missiles into Japan's exclusive economic zone. For example, the mayor of Nagasaki Prefecture Kuroda made a statement protesting the commemoration of the activities, and government lawmakers everywhere are taking measures to limit the CCP.”

A Japanese proposed, "You (Japan) should suspend activities, cut off contact with the CCP, adopt a policy of isolation, ignore it, and don't communicate. That's the best."

Another Japanese asked, "Can this be a festive 50th anniversary?"

Lawmakers say CCP China is a regime that believes in violence and Japan needs to be prepared for anything that might happen.

Ryohei Nishikawa, a member of the Sakai City Council, Japan, commented, "The other side (the CCP) has the idea of creating external enemies to consolidate its own regime. The CCP classifies Japan as the same common enemy as Taiwan, and is trying to escalate the issue of the Senkaku Islands."

Japanese lawmakers analyzed that the result of 50 years of diplomatic relations between CCP China and Japan seems to be only an appearance of economic prosperity.

According to CCP official media reports, on 14 September 2022, two people were found to have abnormal nucleic acid test results in Tiexi District, Shenyang.

As a result, Tiexi District was immediately brought under control. According to official media reports, starting from September 4, Tiexi District, Shenyang  has implemented the implementation of the measures in the area of Yunfeng Street in the west, the railway line in the east, Beiyi East Road in the north, Beier East Road in the south, and the area under the jurisdiction of Beihongqiao Community. Analysis of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan: Taking advantage of Russia in the Ukrainian battlefield

Editor : Lu Yongxin / Image : Khachik Stepanyan looks at his former home in the village of Shurnuk, where more than a dozen houses were claimed by Azerbaijanis and Armenian families had to leave them after clashes between the two countries, 4 March 2021. (Aris Messinis/AFP via Getty Images)

亚美尼亚与阿塞拜疆爆冲突 分析:乘俄在乌战场不顺生事

Armenia and Azerbaijan once again clashed over the long-disputed Naka region two days ago, with more than 150 casualties between the two armies. Senior Armenian officials said in the evening of 14 September 2022 that they had reached a ceasefire with Azerbaijan; however, the Azerbaijani side has yet to make a statement on the ceasefire. According to external analysis, the conflict between the two sides is by no means a coincidence, or that Azerbaijan took advantage of Russia’s troubles in the Ukrainian battlefield to make trouble, and it is expected that other countries will follow suit.

The two-day exchange of fire is the bloodiest conflict since the two countries went to war again in 2020. The fighting in 2020 was a truce brokered by Moscow, and hundreds of people were killed on both sides.

Both sides are now blaming each other for the conflict. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said earlier in Congress that 105 Armenian officers and soldiers were killed in this conflict; Azerbaijan reported 50 officers and soldiers were killed on the first day of the exchange of fire.

In his speech in Congress, Pashinyan also pointed out that Armenia has requested the assistance of the Russian-led Collective Security Pact Organization (CSTO) to restore Armenia’s territorial integrity.

The Central News Agency quoted Reuters as reporting that Grigory Karasin, a high-ranking member of the upper house of the Russian parliament, told the Russian News Agency (RIA) that the ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan was mainly due to the effectiveness of Russian diplomacy, and that Russian President Vladimir Putin had already spoken to Pashinyan. Putin called for calm on both sides, and the relevant parties in the region also called on the two countries to exercise restraint.

Deutsche Welle (DW) quoted sources as saying that the conflict between the two countries is not entirely in the Naka region, and some are aimed at strongholds in Armenian territory.

If Armenia and Azerbaijan in the South Caucasus go to war again, Russia and Turkey may be forced to be involved. Armenia is allied with Moscow, there are also Russian military bases in the territory, and Turkey is behind Azerbaijan. The local war will destroy important corridors containing oil and natural gas pipelines, which may exacerbate the energy crisis that has worsened after the Russia-Ukraine war.

Hanna Notte, a senior researcher at the Vienna Centre for Disarmament and Nonproliferation (VCDNP), told DW that the conflict was no coincidence but that Azerbaijan took advantage of Russia's troubles in Ukraine, and she expected there to be more other countries follow suit.

Notte said that Iran will take the opportunity to strengthen its influence over Russia, and that there may be instability in Syria and Libya, where Russia is involved in local conflicts.

Armenia and Azerbaijan, both of which belong to the former Soviet republics, have conflict in the Nagorno-Karabakh (Naka) region  for decades. The mountainous Naka district is a piece of Azerbaijani land in Armenia but the majority of the inhabitants are Armenians.

The first time the two sides fought for the Naka region occurred after the collapse of the Soviet Union, when Armenian forces controlled most of the Naka region, which was controlled by Armenian separatist forces for about 30 years. Azerbaijan retook the land from the Armenians in a six-week war in 2020. At that time, there were many demonstrations in Armenia against Prime Minister Pashinyan.

Putin's forces flooded Zelenskyy's home city with missile strike on reservoir dam, forcing residents to flee their homes

Image : Water spills from the damaged Karachun Dam near the city of Kryvyi Rih after Russia struck it with eight cruise missiles late on Wednesday.

Evacuations are underway in a major Ukrainian city after Russia hit a dam with eight cruise missiles in its latest 'revenge' attack on civilians as its invasion fails.

Kryvyi Rih, President Zelenskyy's home city, was inundated with water on Wednesday afternoon and overnight after an attack on the Karachun Dam.

The strikes badly damaged the dam and a nearby pumping station, releasing huge amounts of water into the Inhulets River and causing it to swell.

City streets and homes were flooded overnight as the river burst its banks, while bridges were also swept away.

Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy head of the president's office, said two districts of the city — which had a pre-war population of 650,000 — were at risk of flooding.

Residents of those districts — including the city centre — have been asked to leave.

The water is now making its way downstream to Kherson, where it will likely damage or wash away pontoon bridges that Ukrainian troops are using to attack the city.

"Russian forces likely targeted the Karachun Dam to damage Ukrainian pontoon bridges further downstream," think-tank Institute for the Study of War reported.

The attack comes "in light of recent reports that Ukrainian troops are attempting to expand their bridgehead over the Inhulets River near Davydiv Brid as part of the ongoing Kherson counteroffensive," it added.

It comes after Russia also hit power stations and pipelines in Kharkiv with missiles, cutting power and water to the city after its troops were routed to the east.

Zelenskyy addressed the latest Russian strikes in his overnight address, calling Putin's armed forces "weaklings" and "terrorists".

"Your missile attacks today, Russian missiles targeting Kryvyi Rih, the dam of the Karachunivske reservoir, the objects that have no military value at all," he said.

"Hitting hundreds of thousands of ordinary civilians, is another reason why Russia will lose [the war].

"'You are weaklings waging a war against civilians; scoundrels who, having fled the battlefield, are trying to do harm from somewhere far away".

Tri-state primary results: Trump's candidates win

Reporter : Dong Qinglian / Editor : Zhang Lili / https://www.soundofhope.org/post/654101 / Image : Trump's influence brings luck to pro-Trump candidates (Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)

The last wave of primary elections for this year's midterm elections were held in New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Delaware. Although Trump has not endorsed any of the candidates in the three states, his influence has brought good luck to pro-Trump candidates.

According to "Capitol Hill", candidates in Trump's camp won several key victories on Tuesday (13 September). The most closely watched primary of the day was the Republican race for the New Hampshire Senate seat, with retired Army Brigadier General Donald Bolduc of Trump's camp winning the Republican nomination.

General Borduk, a staunch conservative, defeated 10 opponents in his party, overcoming moderate state Senate President Chuck Morse. Borduk is now seeking Trump's support to overthrow Democratic incumbent Sen. Maggie Hassan in the midterm elections. Trump did not endorse him, but called him a "tough guy."

The Associated Press reported that some Democratic groups sponsored Borduk's campaign ads, hoping he would lose to Democratic Senator Hassan in the November election. Some strategists have criticized the strategy, arguing that it would backfire if Borduk wins the election.

Former Trump White House Assistant Press Secretary Karoline Leavit won the Republican nomination in the Republican primary for NSW's 1st congressional district. She is a staunch Trump supporter and will challenge Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas in the future.

The two most closely watched Republican primary races in NSW saw pro-Trump candidates beat both establishment and moderate candidates. New South Wales Republican Governor Sununu successfully passed the primary election and may be re-elected governor for the fourth time.

Rhode Island Democrat Dan McKee narrowly beat four other candidates in the primary. He will face Republican gubernatorial nominee Ashley Kalus in November. Kalus is a business owner and political amateur.

Political freshman Lydia York wins the Democratic nomination over incumbent Kathy McGuiness in the Delaware auditor primary. She will face Republican nominee Janice Lorrah in the November election.

Given the many controversies surrounding the voting process for the 2020 general election. At present, the Republican National Committee has appointed election integrity observers in 17 states and established election integrity committees in 35 states in order to ensure fair and transparent voting in the midterm elections.

Meanwhile, the GOP has trained 85,000 scrutineers and volunteers to oversee elections in battleground states including Ohio, Georgia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and New Jersey.

The first stop of Xi Jinping's visit is very special! The CCP’s expansion ambitions are exposed
Image : Web Screenshot
A month before the 20th National Congress of the CCP, Xi Jinping visited Central Asia and attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit held there. This is the first time Xi Jinping has gone abroad since 30 January 2020.
According to the Xinhua News Agency, on 13 September 2022, Xi Jinping published signed articles in the media of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
Bradley Jardine, a researcher at the Wilson Center, a Washington think tank, told DW, "Kazakhstan is where he announced the "One Belt , One Road" initiative  in 2013, an important part of his foreign policy legacy, showcasing China's growing posture on the world stage."

Kazakhstan determines the success of "One Belt, One Road" initiative
The "One Belt, One Road" is about to celebrate its tenth anniversary. Shi Jianyu, associate researcher at the National Security Research Institute in Taiwan and director-general of the Taiwan Institute of Central Asia, believes that Xi Jinping "starting from Kazakhstan now means starting all over again, which is of course important to him."
As the most influential country in Central Asia, whether Beijing can successfully promote the next stage of the "One Belt , One Road" is deeply influenced by Kazakhstan.
"For Xi Jinping, governance in the next few years - especially the consolidation of the power structure in the Central Asian region - is very important, so his visit to Kazakhstan this time is not surprising," said Shi Jianyu.

Many Kazakh civilians are against CCP's “One Belt, One Road” strategy expansion
In recent years, several anti-CCP demonstrations of various scales have erupted in Kazakhstan, including the capital Nur-Sultan and the largest city Almaty, to protest the expansion of the CCP’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative. As a result, a lot of Chinese investment has poured into quieter Uzbekistan in recent years.
Azhdar Kurtov, a Russian scholar on Central Asia, said that CCP's promotion of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative in Central Asia sometimes contradicts the Central Asian strategy of Russia and other countries, but CCP's activities in Central Asia are still more and more active, "It is different from the more implicit approach in the past, China (CCP) is now more resolute, decisive and open in its local activities. This can be seen from the practice of China (CCP)’s One Belt, One Road strategy.”

Xi Jinping was caught! Frequent defeats in internal fights
Image : Web Screenshot

On 12 September 2022, the Chinese government announced that from 14 to 16 September 2022, Xi Jinping will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting and visit Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. On 13 September, the online media "Hong Kong 01" with the background of Jiang Zemin and Zeng Qinghong's faction published an article, "Xi Jinping's first overseas visit after the epidemic sends two key signals".
The article emphasized in boldface that this is Xi Jinping's first visit abroad since the outbreak of the covid pandemic in 2020. and "Xi Jinping's trip abroad as China's top leader sent an unusual signal."
The article "Hong Kong 01" pointed out that "Xi Jinping's visit may show that the overall political situation in China with the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China as the main content has basically been finalized." It is worth noting that the network, as the main mouthpiece of Jiang Zeng's faction background, this statement is different from the continuous criticism of Xi Jinping in the past.
As in another article on the website earlier, "Why is the Institute of History being criticized not wrong at all? "," said, "History often progresses in the way of "two steps forward, one step back" or even "two steps forward and two steps back" in the contest and tear of two forces." In this article, it seems that it is implied that Xi Jinping is promoting his overall strategy of criticizing Deng and Jiang with the tactic of "two steps forward and one step back". In the process of criticizing Xi Jinping, the Jiang Zeng faction also showed the characteristics of "taking one step back and two steps forward" whenever the form was unfavourable.
Perhaps this is because both parties are Communists, and both are familiar with an article by Lenin, "One Step Back, Two Steps Forward", in which Lenin told them that the purpose of taking one step back is to take two steps forward.
After the article "takes a step back" and affirms that Xi Jinping's overall situation is "basically settled", it begins to "step forward". In the second so-called key signal, the article points to Xi Jinping's key point - the epidemic prevention policy.
The article said, "Mainland China has used the national system to quickly control the epidemic by adopting a set of strict epidemic prevention measures, and the covid virus has been boiled down to today when its toxicity has significantly decreased."
The last sentence "Boil the novel coronavirus until the toxicity has dropped significantly" not only points out "the toxicity has dropped significantly, but the word "boil" is full of ridicule.
The article said, "As many parts of the world gradually return to normal production and living order and the cost of strict epidemic prevention in mainland China is rising," more and more people hope to adjust epidemic prevention policies and return to normal production and living order.
The article pointed out that "Xi Jinping's first overseas visit is of unusual significance, or it may indicate that China's decision-makers' assessment of the risk of the epidemic has changed, and China may gradually resume foreign exchanges three years after the outbreak of the covid epidemic."

The video of Zhang Wenhong's speech is popular again: Large-scale nucleic acid testing is false and meaningless
The 20th National Congress of the CCP is approaching, and the epidemic prevention measures in various places are increasing. Recently, a video of a speech by Shanghai epidemic prevention expert Zhang Wenhong two years ago has been circulating on the Internet. He bluntly said that large-scale nucleic acid screening is false and meaningless.
According to the online video, Zhang Wenhong said, "Shanghai has a population of 30 million. Based on 30,000 tests per day, it will take 1,000 days to screen all 30 million people, which is nearly three years. Screening, epidemiologically, is of little significance."
This video of Zhang Wenhong's speech has recently been circulated on the Internet again. Overseas Twitter netizens said: "What Zhang Wenhong said, it has been rumored to be crazy now, and I really sweated for him." "I'm worried that Zhang Wenhong will be dynamically cleared."
News (26)
Zhang Wenhong:  Millions of nucleic acid tests a day are all self-deception
"Shanghai's testing capacity is 30,000 a day, so millions of nucleic acids a day are all self-deception." "If nucleic acids are not tested, the people who produce those reagents will have no money." "The nucleic acid test is not yours. The result is either covi-positive and negative, but your servility and blood."
"I've always felt that nucleic acid negatives and positives are not based on the index value at all, but are determined based on whether or not positives are needed. When a city needs to be closed and controlled, a few positives will be created, and then the city will be sealed. After the goal is achieved, the nucleic acid is made negative, and the city is unblocked!"
"It's better to support dynamic clearing. The collapse of the country is a relief for everyone."
The CCP's zero-covid prevention measures have been implemented for three years, and more and more Chinese people are sober and realize that zero-epidemic prevention has become political epidemic prevention. There are constant voices on Weibo against the continuous lockdown and endless nucleic acid tests.
However, with the approaching of the 20th National Congress of the CCP, the authorities' anti-epidemic measures have begun to increase. On 8 September, officials from the National Health Commission of the Ccp announced at a press conference that from the Mid-Autumn Festival on 10 September to 31 October 2022, "five measures to strengthen epidemic prevention and control" will be implemented nationwide.
The official claimed that normalized nucleic acid testing should also be carried out in areas where there is no covid outbreak  sparked a strong backlash from public opinion.
News (27)
CCP has turned dynamic clearing into a Cultural Revolution
Lai Jianping, a master of international law from China University of Political Science and Law, analyzed on NTDTV that the epidemic has been completely alienated in China and turned into a political issue. The top of the head must be dynamically cleared, and the bottom is scrambling to follow closely, just like the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution in the Mao era.
News (28)
By implementing normalized nucleic acid testing, the CCP treats Chinese civilians as beasts
Lai Jianping believes that this is the latest version of the Cultural Revolution. It used to be called class struggle as the key link, but now the dynamic clearing is the key link. In order to implement the highest order, any price can be paid - the lives of the common people, the economy, the security... In their eyes the common people are not human beings.

Shocking alert! The CCP uses brain-controlled weapons
The "Administrative Measures for Internet Religious Information Services", which came into effect in March this year, made matters worse. U.S. religious freedom officials said the regulations imposed new restrictions on religious activities, further compressing their narrow spaces, and religious groups across the country were feeling the negative effects.
The "Administrative Measures for Internet Religious Information Services" was jointly formulated and launched by five administrative departments including the State Administration of Religious Affairs of the Communist Party of China, the State Cyberspace Administration of China, and the Ministry of Public Security. The law stipulates that "religious teachings, canons and religious knowledge shall be provided to the public in the form of text, pictures, audio and video through Internet sites, applications, forums, blogs, microblogs, public accounts, instant communication tools, and live webcasts. , religious culture, religious activities and other information services, an Internet religious information service license shall be obtained." The religious affairs department of the people's government at or above the provincial level is responsible for approving and issuing the "Internet Religious Information Service License". The "Measures" also stipulate that "Internet information dissemination platforms that have not obtained the "Internet Religious Information Service License" ... shall not provide users with Internet religious information publishing services."

U.S. religious freedom official: China's new regulations on Internet religious information management almost completely ban online religious activities, which may trigger a chilling effect
At a September 13 hearing of the U.S. Congressional-Executive Committee on the Communist Party of China (CECC), Nury Turkel, chairman of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, said the new rule is the first of its kind that specifically targets Internet users. Regulations on religious content have had a chilling effect on many religious groups and individuals. In order to implement the Measures for the Administration of Internet Religious Information Services, the Chinese authorities have recruited hundreds, if not thousands, of censors to censor religious content on the Internet, he said. This adversely affects independent, unregistered religious groups.
"Because of severe government persecution, many people have had to rely on online platforms and resources for religious education, training, religious gatherings and worship," Turkel said. "These online platforms and smartphone apps are often the activities of these communities. and the only viable way to connect with each other, especially during strict lockdowns."
"The Chinese Communist Party and Tibetan Buddhist groups have reported that their websites and WeChat groups have been shut down and can no longer be accessed," he said. "Users worry that the rule will lead to more abuse of prosecutions, especially for groups with foreign ties. ."
Even state-sanctioned religious groups are not safe, and if the government finds that these groups are not in compliance with government policy, they are equally likely to be punished.
"The regulations also impose stricter restrictions on state-sanctioned religious groups. These groups must submit details to the authorities to apply for an Internet Religious Information Service License," Turkel said. In addition, they are required to conduct research on the Internet Self-censorship of religious material.”
He said it was almost equivalent to a blanket ban on religious practice, as many groups could no longer attend religious services online or in person.
The CCP government not only restricts minority religious people from using the Internet to communicate and preach, but also uses technology to suppress religious people. One example is the "brain-controlled weapon" developed by the Academy of Military Medicine of the PLA Academy of Military Sciences.
According to the Defense Post, a mind-controlled weapon is a term used to describe any device that interferes with and controls human consciousness during combat operations.
According to the US financial news website Insider, the CCP uses brain-controlled weapons to perform cognitive control operations, seeking to physically and digitally supervise those under its control, a technology that will be used at home and abroad.
"The CCP has chosen to use these technologies to control its people and suppress members of ethnic and religious groups," U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said in a December release.
"They used to control the behaviour of Uyghurs in religious groups but now they want to control their bodies," Turkel said. "What this weapon does is essentially control the communication between your body and your brain. That's what people are concerned. This is a regime that should be deeply disturbing and should sound a disturbing, alarming alarm for all of us.”
"Technological and economic development should promote freedom and improve our lives. However, some people on TV and in academic papers make touted remarks praising the CCP's technological and economic development but this is not moral progress," he said.
In December, the U.S. Department of Commerce added the Institute of Military Medicine of the PLA Academy of Military Sciences, which develops "brain-controlled weapons," and its 11 affiliates to the Sanctions Entity List.
"I think this focused targeted sanctions entity list needs to continue," Turkel said.
Turkel said that now the CCP's surveillance technology has become a part of ordinary people's lives, “They have QR codes on their doors, places of worship, churches, temples. Every aspect of the life of the communist CCP people is subject to this persuasive and sophisticated surveillance.”
Karrie J. Koesel, an associate professor of political science at the University of Notre Dame, who attended the hearing, said the United States should take steps to support the Chinese Communists' freedom of religion and belief, including bilateral engagement.
“We need to keep raising China’s religious freedom and human rights issues in our public and private meetings with our Chinese counterparts,” she said. “We should work with U.S. allies and partners, especially in Muslim-majority countries, to take similar actions. Second, we need to build expertise, and we need to prioritize funding at home to maintain U.S. expertise on the CCP. A U.S. national security imperative is to increase support and training for American students and scholars learning about the CCP and the Chinese language. "
U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom Chairman Turkel believes that the United States should also prevent the CCP from exporting its technological authoritarianism to other countries with poor human rights records in terms of technology exports, and prevent authoritarian regimes from imitating the CCP model to persecute dissidents and human rights advocates By.
"The U.S. government and companies must continue to ensure that critical technologies are not exported to China and contribute to any violation of religious freedom abroad," he said.
