Researchers at Boston University loaded a spike protein from the Omicron variant into the "2019 Wuhan variant" (named Wuhan-Hu-1) and the resulting virus, named Omi-S, quickly killed 80% of the mice participating in the experiment.

“Consistent with studies published by others, this work shows that it is not the spike protein that drives Omicron pathogenicity, but instead other viral proteins,” says Saeed, a Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine assistant professor of biochemistry. “Determination of those proteins will lead to better diagnostics and disease management strategies.”

Over the past three years, covi has continued to mutate in the global spread, and the Omicron strain, which is currently the most affected, is considered the most contagious. Even people who have received several booster doses of the vaccine are still unable to avoid contracting the Omicron strain.

FBI warns: Chinese hackers may attack before midterm elections

The FBI is warning state Democrats and Republicans that Chinese hackers are searching their headquarters for vulnerable systems that may would be hacked before the midterm elections.

Agents in the FBI field offices have notified several Democratic and Republican headquarters across the country that they could be the target of potential Chinese hackers as the election looms, according to U.S. officials interviewed by The Washington Post.

However, officials said none of the political parties had yet been hacked or compromised.

"(This is) part of a larger effort by the FBI to not wait for the attack," a U.S. official told The Washington Post.

Republican National Committee (RNC) spokeswoman Emma Vaughn told The Hill in an email that the RNC was safe and undamaged.

"Cybersecurity remains a top priority for the entire Republican ecosystem, which is why we are very serious about ensuring our stakeholders have the necessary tools, resources and best practice training so our party is protected and vigilant." Vaughan said.

A Democratic National Committee (DNC) official told The Hill that the DNC has been in contact with the FBI and that "there is no evidence that any systems were compromised."

U.S. officials have repeatedly said they are unaware of any credible or concrete threat to jeopardize or undermine the electoral system.

Earlier this month, the FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency issued a joint bulletin saying that any attempt to disrupt the election system is "unlikely" to cause massive disruption or prevent voting.

The third reason is that China's economy has been in serious decline. In the process, they even turn their guns on their political allies. Xi Jinping is now very good at fighting corruption in political battles, people familiar with the matter said.
