Taiwan's Central Epidemic Command Center announced on 28 November 2022 that considering that the domestic epidemic situation is slowing down and is stable and controllable, starting from 00:00 on 10 December 2022 (the time when an international flight arrives in Taiwan), the limit on the number of people entering Taiwan will be lifted.

The command center pointed out that the number of people entering the country continues to rise every week. In the past 7 days (21 to 27 November), there were 281 new inbound covid cases, a decrease of 12.2% from the previous 7 days, and the number of new domestic cases continues to decline. The end of the year, foreign Christmas holidays and the Lunar New Year are approaching. It is expected that there will be more entry and exit needs at that time. Therefore, the limit on the number of entries will be lifted to facilitate the Chinese people to arrange their trips back to their hometowns in advance.

The command center appeals that inbound passengers must cooperate with receiving 4 doses of home-use antigen rapid screening reagents at Kaohsiung, Taoyuan and Taipei Songshan Airports, and conduct testing during the 7-day self-prevention period; passengers with suspected symptoms 14 days before entry, please take the initiative to report to the airport counters of the CDC when entering the country. Port quarantine personnel, according to the assessment of the quarantine personnel, cooperate with the saliva collection and inspection at the international port and give priority to return to the residence by anti-epidemic vehicles.

The Central Epidemic Command Center announced on 28 November 2022 that, considering that the number of new cases across the country continues to decline, the domestic epidemic situation is stable and controllable, and after considering the needs of the public to visit patients and the safety of epidemic prevention in hospitals, starting from 10 December 2022, " "Conditionally" allow inpatient visits in hospitals across the country.

Relevant measures include:

1. Inpatients in hospitals across the country are conditionally open to visits. The visiting period is a fixed time period per day. Each inpatient is limited to 2 visitors at a time, but those who meet the following exceptions, the visiting period and the number of visitors are not included in this limit:

(1) Patients who undergo surgery, invasive examination or treatment, etc. must be accompanied by their family members, or the family members must personally sign a consent form or document according to the law.

(2) Special units such as emergency department, intensive care unit or hospice ward, responding to the needs of the patient's condition explanation.

(3) The patient's condition deteriorates or is critically ill.

(4) For other special reasons, after evaluation, it is necessary to visit the patient and approved by the medical institution.

2. Regardless of the vaccination status, visitors should cooperate and issue a self-funded home-based rapid test negative certificate on the day of the visit. However, if the visitor is "confirmed that the case meets the conditions for de-isolation and is within 15 days (inclusive) to 3 months from the date of onset or the date of covi-positive test (applicable to asymptomatic cases), the screening may be exempted."

3. Do not visit hospitals during the period of self-prevention. However, if the above exceptions are met, the medical institution may evaluate and agree to allow visitors to visit the patient after issuing a negative self-funded household rapid screening test taken on the day of the visit. The above exemption from screening does not apply.

The command center reminded that since hospitals are areas with a high risk of infection transmission, unnecessary visits should be avoided as much as possible during the epidemic. It is recommended to replace on-site visits with video or telephone calls. If there is still a need for on-site visits, the visitors must not have covid-related symptoms and TOCC (travel history, occupation history, contact history, group history) risk, and should wear a mask when entering the hospital and follow relevant infection control measures.
