Wuhan's prevention and control escalated overnight, military vehicles entered and residents fled

As the epidemic in Wuhan heats up, so-called silent management has begun in many districts. A large number of residents are worried about the closure and flee by driving late at night. A few days ago, some citizens photographed more than a dozen military vehicles driving into the urban area of Wuhan. The local epidemic has aroused concern.
Since the early morning of 1 November 2022, many districts in Wuhan have issued a notice of closed management. Among them, Jiang'an District has been silent for five days, some streets in Hongshan District have begun to implement temporary prevention and control measures, and Wuchang District has implemented seven-day silent management of parts of the Qianjia Street community.
Before the lockdown was escalated, a large number of people went to the supermarkets to grab shopping supplies, and some people drove away late at night. The roads were densely packed with vehicles, and some sections of the roads became parking lots.
Mr. Lin, a citizen of Wuhan, said, "Our community has been quarantined for a week, and it is basically closed. Now it is not a community with covi-positive patients. If there are no covi-positive patients, he will also seal it for you. The earliest place in Jianghan District has been closed for half a month, and the food court is closed."
Staff on duty at a hotel in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Zone said, "Others like shopping malls or movie theaters are not open, because the movie theatres near us are indeed closed."
A merchant in Hanyang District, Wuhan, said, "The schools are closed, and it seems that all shops are not allowed to open now."
In addition to the closure of large shopping malls and business locations, residents of some communities have to climb iron railings to enter and exit. On 30 October, many military trucks and anti-epidemic vehicles appeared on the streets of Wuhan. The streets were blocked everywhere, and the large-scale shelter isolation point was reopened again.
Mr. Lin said, "From the video, I saw more than a dozen (military) large trucks, and there are more than a dozen of them that can be photographed. In addition to doing nucleic acid tests, some hospitals are also closed and not allowed to enter. The largest hospital in Wuhan, two Tongji and Xiehe hospitals are also closed."
Mr. Lin, a citizen of Wuhan, believes that the current momentum of local lockdowns in Wuhan is even greater than the previous year.
Mr. Lin: "It's hard to live, and many places stop the bus for you, like Huangpi District, although the bus in the city center doesn't stop, you won't be allowed to go out if it doesn't stop, and no one will take it. The regulations say no. On locking down the city, don’t let it be locked down, just seal the district now, that’s even bigger than it looked the year before. This year, the outside of the community is surrounded by iron walls, and you can’t even get out.”

Military and police stationed in Foxconn, Wuhan returned to the origin of lockdown

The mainland lockdown is spreading across the country. While the "fleeing tide" from Foxconn in Zhengzhou is still fermenting, news of another blockade has also been reported in Wuhan.
Fragment of the movie "1942": "Dad, what is the escape from the famine?"
Movie "1942" clip: "There is no more to eat."
In the past two days, people have compared the escape of Foxconn workers to the real-life version of the movie "1942". However, Foxconn's "fleeing tide" is only a microcosm of the CCP's zero-covid policy.
Jiang Feng, a current affairs commentator: "There is an essential difference from the Great Escape in 1942. There are disasters and famines in all dynasties in China. The government allows you to flee, but this year's CCP regime is just the opposite: Blocking the way out. ."
Foxconn employee Xiao Zhang: "The first batch of 300 armed police came in the morning, and in the afternoon, two more batches came. There were military vehicles, many came, and there were many buses like that, and there were also special police cars. There are a lot of people here, some are blocking the signal, some are guarding Foxconn and not calling out, and no one can run away."
Mr. Liu, a Foxconn employee: "The army was sent over to suppress it by force, and it was calmed down. There was no follow-up. Many people walked hundreds of kilometres back to their hometowns. There should be tens of thousands, 50,000 to 60,000."
On 1 November 2022, the reporter called Zhengzhou Foxconn and no one answered. Official media said that the local government of Zhengzhou Foxconn is now responsible for connecting the departing employees.

At present, Foxconn has given four times the bonus in order to retain employees. For employees in the electronics department of the Zhengzhou factory, the daily bonus has been increased from 100 RMB to 400 RMB. Employees who are able to "go all out" in November can receive more than $15,000 in bonuses that month.

Still, workers told Reuters they decided to resign, unwilling to face "terrible" outbreak control.
Mainland people are more afraid of the epidemic lockdown than the virus. On 31 October 2022, Wuhan Jiang'an District notified that it would be silent for five days from 1 November 2022, and all personnel would not enter or leave, causing panic among residents.
A large number of people flocked to the market late at night to grab shopping supplies, and the market was crowded with people.
There were also a large number of residents who drove away overnight, and densely packed vehicles jammed the road for miles.
Netizens said that what everyone is worried about is not three or five days of quarantine, but the uncertainty of how many days of quarantine, because some places have been quarantined for more than 80 days.
On 30 October 2022, many military trucks and anti-epidemic vehicles appeared on the streets of Wuhan. The streets were blocked everywhere, and the large-scale square cabin hospital was reopened again.
Mr. Lin, a citizen of Wuhan: "From the video, I saw more than a dozen (military) large trucks, and there are more than a dozen that can be photographed."
There is also a large number of police and epidemic prevention personnel stationed in Guangzhou. At present, Guangzhou's Haizhu District, Huadu District, Baiyun District, Panyu District and Yuexiu District are all under strict control, and the authorities have sent a large number of police to station them.
On 31 October, the staff of Haizhu District used a circular wire ring to seal the residents in the community. The panicked residents, in order to survive the lockdown, began to snatch food and even started fighting.

On 31 October, a Foxconn grassroots manager "Wang Pan" (pseudonym) who knew the inside story revealed the inside story of the employee's escape to the mainland Chinese media "First Financial".
Wang Pan revealed, "Because of the lack of quarantine places, the inability to deliver materials in time, and the shortage of sampling personnel, the initial situation began to become chaotic."

Epidemic prevention requirements are constantly escalating
According to reports, on 13 October, Foxconn launched closed-loop management. On 16 October, employees living outside the Zhengzhou campus had all moved into dormitories, hotels, schools and other places, and the company implemented point-to-point commuting.
Since 19 October, Foxconn Zhengzhou Park has set up inspection points in each building, and the subsequent series of actions have also been regarded by internal employees as a performance of prevention and control upgrades. Foxconn has cancelled dine-in dining at its dining establishments.
From 21 October, Foxconn began to implement "nucleic acid + antigen" two-day inspections, and at the same time made very detailed regulations on employees' behavior, requiring employees to "simplify personal travel", dormitory (residence), and the park two points and one line, enter the factory area A 24-hour nucleic acid negative certificate is required to enter the second-line gate.
When working in the park, you need to wear N95 masks throughout the process. It is strictly forbidden to take off the masks in the factory area and on the road. You can take off the masks after entering your bedroom.

Cancellation of dine-in causes chaos
After the cancellation of dine-in, employee dissatisfaction began to grow. Wang Pan said that at the request of the government, Foxconn began to stop dine-in on October 19. Due to the large number of employees, about 200,000 lunch boxes were distributed for one meal, and the employees had to return to the dormitory to eat, which caused a lot of inconvenience and dissatisfaction. This kind of dissatisfaction Emotions also allow rumors to begin to emerge.
According to the "First Financial" report, on the evening of October 29, including Yuzhou City, Changge City, Qinyang City, Xihua County, Lushan County in Henan Province, Weidu District of Xuchang City, and Zhanhe District of Pingdingshan City, etc. Many places in Henan, China, have issued a letter to the local Foxconn staff in Zhengzhou, saying that they are ready to return to their hometown. All localities have stated that those who really need to return to their hometowns need to report in advance, and implement "point-to-point" services and corresponding isolation measures.

Unclear information intensified panic, employees were forced to return home on foot
Wang Pan said that employees returning home on foot were due to panic over the epidemic, lack of access to official authoritative information, and under epidemic prevention traffic control, they had to choose to walk.
A worker responsible for the production of mobile phone back cases said that many people have left because they were afraid of infection. Generally, security guards can leave after looking at their badges and photos, and there is nothing to stop them.
According to a report by China News Weekly, a number of Foxconn employees in Zhengzhou told China News Weekly that the escape from the factory was due to some employees' fear of the virus and concerns about life disorder. They said that there was some confusion in Foxconn's logistics management under the epidemic, including food problems and isolation problems.
The report quoted screenshots from the Internet as saying that in the early morning of 30 October, Su Dongxia, secretary of the Foxconn Zhengzhou Science and Technology Park Party Committee, posted a message in the circle of friends: "There are more than 200,000 people in the Foxconn Zhengzhou plant, which is destined to be not just a company, but a complex society. Management is very difficult; after the outbreak, Foxconn tried its best to mobilize resources internally to deal with it, and there was little external support... unable to support the situation on its own, it had to acquiesce to let the factory employees go home on their own." However, Su Dongxia later claimed that the content was reprinted by her, not original.
On 31 October, a person in charge of the digital product business group of Foxconn Technology Group accepted an interview with Henan Daily, saying that "the current epidemic prevention situation is stable and improving, and restaurants in the park will gradually resume dine-in from 29 October. It can guarantee free three meals a day for 200,000 passengers.”
However, Foxconn's official response did not prevent many employees from returning home on foot. Wang Pan told Yicai: "It is a helpless move for some employees to return to their hometown on foot, partly because of the panic over the epidemic, coupled with the lack of employees' access to official authoritative information, and partly because of epidemic prevention and traffic control, resulting in Had to choose to walk."

After the unfortunate push and stampede accident in Itaewon, Seoul, the CCP media "Beijing Evening News" published an article on Weibo, calling for "accountability" for the accident. Unexpectedly, it aroused great disgust among Chinese netizens. The phenomenon of "big car rollover" appeared in the comment area, and a large number of messages asked the party media why they were silent about similar accidents and sensitive events in China.
"Beijing Evening News" published a thousand-word article on Weibo on 30 October, questioning the reason why the crowd "out of control" in the stampede accident in South Korea, accusing the security personnel of negligence, as if to stand on the moral high ground and hold the Koreans accountable.
The CCP media, including the Beijing Evening News, have always turned a blind eye and collectively kept silent about similar major accidents in China or sensitive events that damaged the false image of the CCP's "weiguangzheng", but now they are publishing articles as representatives of justice. The great contrast in denouncing the Koreans for their dereliction of duty has aroused strong disgust among Chinese netizens. In the message area under the long post on Weibo, a large number of netizens ridiculed and questioned the Beijing Evening News.
Some netizens left a message saying, "Itaewon is all the hot searches on Weibo these days. I want to say, what is your business?" Another netizen directly questioned the official media, why they only care about Koreans The security responsibility of the Foxconn employees, but there is "no sound" about the escape of Foxconn employees who are related to the suffering of their people's lives?
More Chinese netizens mentioned the incident of the overturning of the isolation bus transporting residents in Guiyang on 18 September 2022, and questioned "27 people (dead) did not see you to question? South Korea hit hard?" Some netizens mentioned on the 2014 New Year's Eve at least 36 people were killed and 49 injured, including 13 seriously, in the stampede at Chen Yi Square on the Bund in Shanghai.
Some netizens directly scolded the "Beijing Evening News", "Why are you asking about these broken things in China?" See the world."

Maui2021 left a message praising those Chinese netizens who bravely questioned the party media: "The people inside the wall are good."
Sunychen wrote, "Who dares to hold accountable for the investigation of the Boeing plane that fell in Guizhou? More people have died than South Korea, and it has completely silenced the wall? Don't frame Boeing?"
fancyorange also commented, "The party media should report how many people died in the flood in Zhengzhou, what is the reason for the death of more than 100 people in China Eastern Airlines, and there are many, many more. Koreans will naturally be held accountable when they are sad. Now the president has been scolded. already."
A Chinese netizen with the online name "Fan Er of the Bay Area" also commented: "If the Beijing Evening News has the same spirit to be responsible for the Chinese government's city closure measures, it will be courageous and knowledgeable. Now it only consults on foreign accidents, obviously nosy and double standards.”

Anonymous hacked into China's official website! Put the Taiwan flag and Tsai Ing-wen photos

Dissatisfied with China's use of human accounts to interfere with Wikipedia entries, the world's largest hacker organization "Anonymous" (Anonymous) last Saturday (October 29) hacked into China's Ministry of Emergency Management and Beijing "WeChat" The official website of the satellite technology company Mino Space posted photos of the Taiwanese flag and President Tsai Ing-wen and "Xi Wenyi" mocking China, as well as the words "Down with Xi Jinping and restore the Republic of China".
"Anonymous" raided the official website of China's Ministry of Emergency Management and published a compromised directory page of its content management system (CMS), followed by 19 other pages on the site that were hacked, including President Tsai Ing-wen, the Tiananmen incident, The photos of Xi Weini, Dr. Li Wenliang, and the lion flag of Tibet Snow Mountain, etc., the tasks and goals of China's emergency management on the website have been changed to "Taiwan Nambah Wan" (Taiwan Nambah Wan, No. 1 in Taiwan), "Down with Xi Jinping, “Restore the Republic of China” and other words; in addition, the website of the Beijing-based “Micro-Nano Star” satellite technology company was also attacked three times.
"Anonymous" is in revenge for the so-called "Chinese agents" who deleted their activity entries from Wikipedia. According to the English-language media Taiwan News, in late September, the well-known "Anonymous" hacker Cyber Anakin broke out in an editorial war on the Wikipedia page. "Anonymous" codenamed "Operation Wrath of Anakin: No Time to Die" hacked Chinese government websites, agricultural management systems, coal mine security, nuclear power plants and satellite interfaces, etc., in August There are also numerous articles on the Wikipedia page related to the operation, which have been cut down to a few paragraphs by October.
Reasons for removal include suspected violations of the neutral viewpoint policy, unverifiable, and "unreliable source" messages. However, one of the editors who initiated the removal, "Chimney Sweepa," was later found to be disguised as someone else's "sock puppet account", or head account, in order to manipulate the content.
According to the report, "Anonymous" on behalf of "Allez-opi_omi" said the group suspected that the sudden and arbitrary editing was part of China's use of Wikipedia's existing systematic bias to exert influence. For example, on China's National Day (1 October), the Wikipedia user "Genabab", who is said to be "China Wumao", changed the status of Taiwan from a country to a "partially recognized country". "Anonymous" stressed that China's use of human accounts to interfere with Wikipedia entries is intolerable.

FBI: Beware of cryptocurrency Killer Scam Originating in China
Reporter : Linda Jiang / Editor : Jia Lia / https://www.epochtimes.com/gb/22/11/2/n13857645.htm / Image : The FBI agent pointed out that the "cryptocurrency killing pig" is a crime committed by gangs, and the swindlers will use serial schemes. If people want to invest, they must be cautious. (shutterstock)
FBI agents are reminding the public that a "cryptocurrency killing hog" scam that first emerged in China is spreading around the world. This kind of scam can cause huge losses to victims and even bankrupt their families.
On Tuesday (1 November 2022), at an anti-fraud online conference hosted by the Chinatown Service Center, FBI agents pointed out that the "cryptocurrency killing plate" is a gang crime, and the crooks will use a serial number. Therefore, if the public wants to invest, they must be cautious, not only to find out the identity of the other party, but more importantly, "don't invest in an amount you can't afford to lose."
The first step of deception: Online dating to gain trust
Many people may have heard of it, "killing pigs" refers to a telecommunication fraud method in which scammers use the Internet to make friends and induce victims to invest.
According to FBI agents, firstly, scammers will look for targets through some "dating" apps, LinkedIn and other social software; then, they will develop relationships with victims and slowly develop friends, lovers or business partnerships.
During the chat, the scammer will reveal to the victim how to make money by investing in cryptocurrencies, and claim that their relatives and friends are engaged in related jobs, and they can get the best time to invest from the inside.
"Of course the scammers don't act right away, it usually takes two weeks to a month to build further relationships to gain your trust," the agent said. "Then they start telling you the details of the investment."
Let victims taste a little investment "sweetness"
After the first step is completed, the scammer begins to coax the victim to shift the "position".
The FBI agent said, "They (cheaters) usually tell you to download an app, sometimes it is a real app, but they will tell you not to download it from the app store, but from a website." In fact , the victim downloads a background program developed and controlled by the crooks.
Scammers also make victims invest through popular crypto platforms. When the victim starts investing for the first time, the scammer will manipulate the background to change the transaction to a profitable state. Over time, scammers will continue to show victims that the amount invested is growing rapidly.
In order to play a long game, the scammer will make the victim conduct a test transaction that actually withdraws the funds. "Assuming you've invested $2,000 or $3,000, they'll let you come up with $4,000," the agent said.
Once the victims who have tasted the "sweetness" deposit a large amount of funds, the scammers will continue to manipulate the background, so that the investment amount continues to increase.
Serial Fraud
Problems arise when investors try to get their money out, but that is not the end of the scam.
Fraudsters usually tell their victims that they must follow the instructions to call the so-called "customer service" and pay a tax or other fee before they can withdraw the money," FBI agents said. Fraud".
"Customers" will ask victims to provide all personal information to verify identity, pay taxes, this includes passport numbers, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and more.
When the victim is hesitant to pay a lump sum first, the "customer service person" will persuade the victim, "You've already made so much money that a fraction of that is nothing."
"If you tell them you don't have any money, they'll tell you you can take a mortgage on your house, borrow money from a bank, borrow money from a friend," the agent said. "They'll try to get as much money as possible from you. If they really run out of money, they'll just disappear."
ABC7 News reported a few months ago that a Chinese-American in the San Francisco Bay Area lost $1.2 million in a cryptocurrency scam.
How to avoid
FBI agents warned the public that this type of "cryptocurrency killing pig" scam is still going on, and that cryptocurrencies are virtual currencies that are difficult to recover, which has also caused heavy losses to many victims, "Many times, the money will soon flow to overseas".
Greed is seen as the basis for the "killing pig" scam so successful. Agents say that when something sounds perfect, it could be a hoax. When faced with a similar situation, the public needs to think calmly: How did they know this person? Have you seen him in person? Did you just meet through the internet? If so, don't give your money to such people easily.

US mid-term elections approaching, more African-Americans and Latinos support the Republican Party
Reporter : Li Xin / Editor : Li Yuan / https://www.epochtimes.com/gb/nf5523.htm#13857256
As the US midterm elections enter the final stage, more African-American and Hispanic voters turn to the Republican Party, which has always been the focus of these two ethnic groups. Democrats, who see them as their own, are more anxious.
In a poll released last week by USA Today and Suffolk University, 49 percent of respondents said they would vote Republican during the November 8 election while only 45% of voters said they would vote Democrat ahead of the Republicans.
Support for Democratic congressional candidates has remained largely unchanged since the summer, but 16 percent of voters who were undecided at the time have now made up their minds and turned to Republicans. With many states beginning early voting, only 6% remain undecided.
The new figures are the results of a survey of 1,000 likely voters between October 19 and 24, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points, compared with the July survey of registered voters.
New polls show Republicans are gaining an edge in the final stretch of the race, especially with significant gains among Hispanic and Black voters. Those two racial groups have long relied on Democrats, and now, 40 percent of Hispanics and 21 percent of African Americans support the Republican nominee.
By comparison, in the 2020 presidential election, former Republican President Donald Trump won 12 percent of the African-American vote and 32 percent of the Hispanic vote.
Democrats are farther behind this year than they were in 2018. In the last midterm elections, Democrats overwhelmingly defeated Republicans among African-American voters, winning 92 percent of the vote, while Republicans won just 6 percent of the black vote.
In 2018, Democrats also held a landslide majority among Hispanic voters, leading Republicans 72 percent to 25 percent, according to exit polls from the Pew Research Center, a nonpartisan think tank.
But things have changed quickly this year, with both African-American and Hispanic voters turning to Republicans as inflation and crime rates soar across the country, arguing that Republicans are more likely to handle those issues better.
Those numbers are huge -- Black and Hispanic support for the Republican Party is up 15 percentage points each from the last midterm election.
While the poll's results are only a prediction of voters' current opinion and not an actual number in the general election, they are indicative of current trends, and even if support for the Republican Party among African-American and Hispanic voters is only this projected increase Half, say 7 or 8 percentage points, would still lead to a Republican tsunami on Election Day.
In this election, Republicans need only a net gain of five seats to win control of the House and a net gain of one to flip the Senate majority. Election forecasts generally see Republicans winning back the House of Representatives and increasing the likelihood of a return to the Senate.

Democratic aide linked to CCP embassy, Republicans demand investigation
Reporters : Andrew Thornebrooke, Chen Ting / Editor : Ye Ziwei / https://www.epochtimes.com/gb/22/11/1/n13856850.htm / Image : U.S. Representative Don Beyer before the House Rules Committee hearing on 10 August 2022. (Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images)
A Democratic congressman aide was found to take advantage of his position to contact other congressional staff on behalf of the Chinese embassy in order to collect favourable information Information on Beijing. The congressional aide has now been fired, and Republicans have called for an in-depth investigation.
The American conservative magazine National Review first reported (link) the incident. The congressman's aide, Barbara Hamlett, has been working on Capitol Hill for 34 years, according to reports. While working for Rep. Don Beyer, she contacted several congressional staffers and tried to arrange for them to meet with various officials working at the Chinese embassy.
The GOP office tipped the House Sergeant-at-Arms after Hamlet requested such a meeting with a GOP staffer, the report said. Her conduct was subsequently investigated and it was found that she had attempted to arrange these meetings for the Chinese side.
The incident angered the leadership of the U.S. Republican Party, who denounced the CCP’s quietly growing influence in U.S. politics.
"The CCP wants to influence every aspect of American life, especially our own government," Senator Marco Rubio said in an email.
"I'm proud that my work in Congress has resulted in me being sanctioned and restricted from entering China. I hope it sends a clear message to Beijing that Washington will never be subject to China."
Beyer's office said it had no knowledge of Hamlet's activities in this regard and had immediately fired her when it learned of them.
"Congressman Beyer was completely unaware of these activities until contacted by the House Chief of Staff," said Aaron Fritschner, Byer's deputy chief of staff.
"Once he learned of the activities, he followed every instruction given to him by security officials. The staff in question are no longer employed in MP Bayer's office."
Notably, Beyer was with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on her recent trip to Taiwan. Investigators are trying to determine whether Hamlet had contacted the CCP embassy at that time.
Although the aide has been fired, the incident has implications for the upcoming 2022 midterm elections.
In Virginia's Eighth District, Beyer's Republican challenger, Karina Lipsman, called for an investigation into Beyer's ties to the Chinese Communist Party and whether Hamlet's activities involved national security.
“What Beyer has ties to the Chinese government needs to be clarified to determine the level of national security risk. His office has clearly been affected,” Lipsman said in a statement to The Washington Times.
As of noon on Monday (31 October), three days after the incident was first reported, a new tab appeared on Lipsman's campaign website. The page, titled "The Beyer/China Situation," accused Beyer of being influenced by the Chinese Communist Party and unfit to continue his duties in Congress.
"Don Beyer has been influenced by (the CCP)," the page said. "Our constituency has the Pentagon and the CIA, and the reality is that he is no longer fit for public office."

Go to the polls in November midterm elections
Lawyer Mark Meuser, who is running for the Senate, has been talking to voters everywhere, and he has encouraged everyone to vote at rallies, "Many Democratic voters are tired of the economic situation with rising costs such as gasoline, and increased crime. Dissatisfied, disappointed with the status quo of education, so they didn't go to the polls", "We need to elect representatives who have common sense and put the interests of the people ahead of special interests."

Musser won about 15 percent of the vote in the primary, and the Democratic nominee, former California Attorney General Alex Padilla, won more than 50 percent. Turnout in the primary was just over 30 percent, and more than 60 percent of voters did not vote.
The importance of education
Rebecca Friedrich, who has been a teacher in California for more than two decades, is the author of Stand Up Against the Giants: Fighting the State and National Teachers Union for the Heart and Soul of Our Country and Our Children author.

In her speech, she spoke of teachers' unions behind the scenes promoting radical education, supporting Critical Race Theory (CRT), and supporting gender definitions and transgenderness. Unions spend a lot of money to support their candidates and they do not really care about the education of their children.
Friedrich and nine other California teachers sued the teachers union. "Forty years of forced unionization in the United States is over, and now people don't have to pay government union dues, but a lot of people don't know they're free," she said.
Friedrich served as a union representative for three years, trying to improve from within and help good teachers, but found it to be a very rigid and rigid system.
"Our Founding Fathers said the only way to keep a free republic was to have educated, moral citizens, but they wanted to make children immoral and ignorant." Funding teachers' unions, says Friedrich Funding its agenda, "Education is more important than most of us realize".
A Chinese-American resident said that attention must be paid to children's education, which is not just about the generation gap. Children are taught to deviate from traditional concepts, become "left-leaning" and agree with socialist concepts, "so we must pay attention to local elections, especially school districts and Member Elections".

Oppose "Referendum 1"
Many people at the rally held signs against "Proposition 1" (the No. 1 referendum). The case was brought by Sen. Toni Gayle Atkins, Democrat of the 39th District of San Diego, under the name "Reproductive freedom." It actually means that women can choose the "freedom of infertility", that is, they have the right to choose or refuse contraceptive drugs, and they can also freely choose abortion during pregnancy.

If the case passes, California will become a state where abortion is legal, regardless of the size of the fetus. Resident Michelle (Michelle) believes that the fetus is also a life, and he/she cannot be ignored because he/she is small and incapable of expression. "If a pregnant woman dies in a car accident, or is killed in a shooting case, the law The Supreme Council considers it to be 'one corpse and two lives', so why doesn't the fetus not regard the fetus as one life when it comes to abortion?"
On 24 June 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, returning abortion rights to the states. California is a blue state, that is, voters have long favoured Democrats in recent years; the governor and various Democratic lawmakers are pushing for California to become an abortion-legal state and a sanctuary state.

From China to Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S. How the Mid-term Elections affect Diplomacy

The U.S. mid-term elections on 8 November 2022 are getting closer, and as most voters head to the ballot box, international affairs may not be their primary consideration issues, but the outcome of the vote could have repercussions for the entire world.
In fact, because of U.S. influence, its domestic affairs extend far beyond the borders of the United States. For example, inflation is not just the Fed's interest rate behaviour, it also involves everything from chip shortages to grain and oil prices; immigration is not just a problem for the United States, because the United States borders Mexico; the US military budget will also be affected by significant impact on a global scale.
Bloomberg reports that officials from Europe and Asia are flying to the U.S. to stare nervously at the midterm elections, as officials from various countries travel to battleground states to try to decipher the political contest to avoid a surprise similar to the one that followed Trump’s election in 2016. One of their goals was to see what foreign policy changes would be brought about if Republicans were elected.

Republicans will vigorously strengthen the U.S. military
Experts expect more defense budget increases if Republicans take control of the House or Senate after the midterm elections, with implications for foreign military aid, the penetration of leftist "awakeningism" into the U.S. military, and how it affects national security. More debate.
In September, House Republicans unveiled their "Commitment to America" pre-election plan, which included a pledge to "support our troops" and "invest in an efficient and effective military."
"If the Republicans win, they'll try to push more stuff," said Valerie Shen of Third Way, a leftist think tank. "Given what's happened recently, they may succeed."

The defense budget is likely to increase again in fiscal 2024. Jim Inhofe, the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, and his caucus have pushed for a 5 percent annual increase in defense spending, ahead of inflation, as the bottom line for future budget proposals. For fiscal 2023, that would imply a roughly 13% increase in military appropriations.
"You'll see (House Armed Services Committee) Republicans focused on improving the lethality and combat capability of the U.S. military," a senior Republican congressional aide told the Federal Times magazine. "Congress has been focused on deterring China. The things that (the Chinese Communist Party) needs, right now, the most important ones include ammunition replenishment, military modernization and addressing conscription.”
Michele Pearce, former chief deputy general counsel of the U.S. Army, said: "We expect the new Republican majority to implement an aggressive oversight agenda, with both House and Senate defense committees expected to focus on Afghanistan withdrawal, supplies chain risks and Defense Top Design Funding.”

Investigate the August 2021 troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, problems of "Cancel Culture", Critical Race Theory Teaching
As part of their planned oversight efforts, House Republicans have pledged to investigate the August 2021 troop withdrawal from Afghanistan if they gain control of the chamber next year, among other things including a review of the "center-left" push in the military, "Awakeningism”, Diversity, Gender Equality and the Problems of “Cancel Culture”, Critical Race Theory Teaching.
A senior Republican aide said the top Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, Mike Rogers of Alabama, is already planning "questions about the Department of Defense's vaccine mandate and how it affects readiness."

More emphasis on the threat of CCP if Republican lawmakers take control of Congress debate
Focusing on the Chinese threat is a rare bipartisan issue in Washington that does not conflict, though it could gain more emphasis if Republican lawmakers take control of next year's congressional debate.

Pushing for faster delivery of more U.S. weapons to Taiwan
While the House China Task Force, still an entirely Republican initiative, has made hundreds of recommendations, many with strong bipartisan support. The task force worked closely with Taiwan's foreign office to push for a faster delivery of more U.S. weapons to Taipei.

McCarthy may visit Taiwan if he became House Speaker
Republican lawmakers mostly strongly supported House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's August trip to Taiwan, and Republican House Leader Kevin McCarthy said he would make a similar trip if he became speaker.

Republicans are more concerned with national security, stress more "strategic competition" with the CCP
Compared with Democrats, the Republican Party is more concerned with security issues, and since the 1970s, the Republican Party has maintained "foreign policy and national security" as an electoral issue. A 2022 study by the Pew Research Center found that 40% of Republicans believe that China-Taiwan tensions are a very serious problem for the United States, compared with only 32% of Democrats.
The Republican Party has made "strategic competition" with the Chinese Communist Party at the heart of its national security strategy, and if the Republican Party controls Congress, it may push the Biden administration to take more aggressive action.

Republicans' "Countering Communist China" Act, call for control of technology exports to the CCP military
The Republican Study Committee, a group of conservative lawmakers who think Democrats' proposals are not positive enough, released the "Countering Communist China Act" last year, including a series of countermeasures against the CCP: Banning U.S. companies that receive federal subsidies from partnering with businesses with ties to the CCP military, blocking funding to U.S. universities with ties to Chinese government organizations, and authorizing new investigations into the origins of COVID-19 investigation. House Republicans also called for greater oversight control of technology exports that could benefit the CCP military.
The House China Task Force also proposed that the U.S. government should provide subsidies and tax incentives to persuade manufacturers to develop chips in the U.S. rather than in China and other Asian countries, which Congress finally passed in July, worth $52 billion, make it law.
Bates Gill of the Asia Society Policy Institute told The Grid weekly, "If the Republicans can get control of both chambers, that's going to put a lot of pressure on the president if both chambers can agree. Some of the tougher China policies will be difficult for him to veto."
"You're also seeing Republicans make nuclear modernization a priority, as adversaries like Russia and North Korea threaten to use nuclear weapons, and China is rapidly increasing its nuclear arsenal," a senior Republican aide told The Federal Times. .

Congress controlled by Republicans plays bigger role in Asia
The Japan Times reported that the outcome of the midterm elections could have a major impact on the Asia-Pacific region, meaning that Congress plays an outsized bigger role in the region, often more so than its relationship with U.S. allies in Europe and the Middle East, especially on issues related to Myanmar, human rights, U.S. defense spending, normalizing U.S.-Vietnam relations, and other issues.

Republicans oppose $12 billion in Ukraine aid due to recession
For the most part, support for Ukraine has been a rare bipartisan consensus in Washington, but there are some differences.
Influential conservative media figures, including Fox News host Tucker Carlson, are skeptical of Ukraine. Ohio Senate candidate JD Vance said in a recent interview, "I think we've given enough money in Ukraine, I really think...the Europeans need to put more strength."
In a September vote, 57 Republican House members and 11 Republican senators opposed the $12 billion in Ukraine aid.
"People are in a recession and they're not going to write a blank check to Ukraine," House Republican Leader McCarthy told Punchbowl News. "Ukraine is important, but at the same time it can't be the only thing they do, and it can't be a blank check."

Aiding Ukraine with "oversight and accountability"
Michael McCaul, the top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, explained that McCarthy's comments do not mean that aid will necessarily be cut, "I think he's just saying, we're not going to live without oversight and accountability. write a blank check, and my committee will provide that oversight and accountability.”
In March, McCarthy slammed the Biden-Harris administration for not providing Ukraine with enough firepower, such as planes.
"I think there is still broad bipartisan support for this effort," McCall said. "We want to make sure our NATO partners can come forward and shoulder the cost."
Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell has vowed that the Republican-controlled Senate will go further than the Biden-Harris administration on Ukraine aid, noting that it will "focus its oversight on ensuring timely delivery of all necessary resources to Ukraine that need arms and more allied aid."
Analysts believe it now looks increasingly likely that lawmakers from both parties will take advantage of the lame December period to pass a massive new Ukraine aid package.

Saudi Crown Prince prefers to talk to Trump, Democrats urge Biden to cease cooperation with Saudi Arabia
Another figure associated with the US midterm elections is Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The Wall Street Journal reported that the crown prince often privately mocked Biden's age and slip of tongue, and talked about how he "prefers former President Donald Trump."
In July of this year, Biden visited Saudi Arabia and was promised a small increase in production from Saudi Arabia. But on October 5, the "OPEC+" led by the Saudi crown prince announced a reduction of 2 million barrels of oil per day, a decision that greatly weakened Biden's efforts to avoid rising oil prices before the midterm elections.
Many analysts believe that at least part of the rationale for cutting oil production is to punish Biden's Democrats in the mid-term elections. The Democrats asked for the production cuts to be postponed until after the midterm elections but the Saudis rejected it.

This has deepened Democrats' antipathy towards Saudi Arabia. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Robert Menendez, a Democrat, urged the administration to "immediately freeze" all U.S. cooperation with Saudi Arabia and put on hold or block U.S. arms sales to Saudi Arabia.
It's unclear how far the "freeze" will last if Republicans control Congress but it's not a purely partisan issue. During the Trump administration, Republicans have at times shelved arms sales to Saudi Arabia and its regional allies due to various concerns.
