CCTV quoted the Kazakhstan International News Agency as reporting that on 4 October 2020 that in accordance with the regulations of relevant government departments, from 6 October, all entrants must provide a SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid test report. This means that Kazakhstan will upgrade its epidemic prevention and control measures to strictly prevent imported cases.

The chief health physician of Kazakhstan's transportation industry, Baykhabrov, said that if foreign travelers cannot provide a negative report of the SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid test within 72 hours before entry, they will be prohibited from entering Kazakhstan. For Kazakh citizens returning home by international flights, if they cannot provide equivalent reports, they must be quarantined at a designated place for 48 hours and be tested by professional medical institutions. He specifically pointed out that the requirement will cover all countries that have resumed air passenger routes with Kazakhstan, and will not classify countries according to the epidemic situation. This requirement also applies to railway, maritime, river and road transportation. Previously, Kazakhstan only required entrants from certain countries to provide test certificates.

According to data reported by the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan, as of 4 October, the number of confirmed cases of covid in the country increased by 264 within 24 hours, a total of 141748 cases; a total of 130,655 cases were cured; 3 new cases of death were added, a total of 2101 cases. The epidemic prevention and control has made important contributions.
