US Deputy State of Secretary talks to Myanmar's Shadow Government representative

US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R. Sherman spoke on Wednesday (4 August 2021) to a representative of Myanmar’s government in exile. This is the first announced contact between a senior US official and the rival administration to the Myanmar Junta generals that overthrew Myanmar's democratically elected government.

The US State Department said Sherman spoke with Daw Zin Mar Aung, who has been appointed acting foreign minister in the shadow National Unity Government (NUG) for Myanmar, also known as Burma. Zin Mar Aung is an elected MP of the National League for Democracy (NLD) and a former political prisoner.

“They discussed ongoing efforts to return Burma to a path to democracy, including continued US support for the pro-democracy movement,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a statement, according to Reuters.

The NUG is composed of members of the elected (NLD) government (now ousted) and other activists and ethnic leaders. It was founded in April, three months after the coup.

Myanmar now faces a humanitarian crisis and third wave of deadly novel coronavirus infections and the economy has collapsed.

The State Department also said in its press release, “In addition, they discussed efforts to combat rising COVID-19 infections in Burma and to provide critical humanitarian assistance to the people of Burma.”

The US has imposed sanctions on the military and some of its business interests.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met virtually with counterparts from ASEAN and called on them to take joint action to urge the military to end its violence, the State Department said.

Blinken welcomed the bloc’s appointment of Brunei’s second minister for foreign affairs, Erywan Yusof, as special envoy to Myanmar.

The secretary of state urged ASEAN foreign ministers to push for Myanmar to “release all those unjustly detained, and restore Burma’s path to democracy,” the earlier statement said.

Myanmar's UN envoy threatened in New York, under security protection

Myanmar’s ambassador to the United Nations, U Kyaw Moe Tun, says that the U.S. authorities have stepped up his security after he received a threat.

Since the coup in February, U Kyaw Moe Tun has represented Myanmar’s National Unity Government (NUG) formed by lawmakers from the ousted government and ethnic minority representatives.

The military regime tried to replace him but he remains the official envoy because the United Nations is yet to acknowledge the junta.

U Kyaw Moe Tun has ignored the military’s claims that he no longer represents Myanmar in New York.

Myanmar’s junta-controlled television announced in February that U Kyaw Moe Tun had been fired for betraying the country after he urged countries to use “any means necessary” to reverse the military takeover.

“Reportedly there is some threat. The police are working on it. Necessary security has been provided by the police,” U Kyaw Moe Tun, who lives in New York, told Reuters.

He was made aware of the threat on Tuesday. No details were available.

A State Department spokesperson said, “We do not discuss details of our protective operations.”

A significant number of expats from Myanmar live in New York. There were unconfirmed reports of a city resident from Myanmar being approached by the regime.

“The police and the security authorities in New York are working on it,” the ambassador added.

Diplomats expect a showdown in September 2021 at the United Nations over U Kyaw Moe Tun’s status at the 193-member nation body.

Why protecting U Kyaw Moe Tun is extremely very important

U Kyaw Moe Tun appears to be the Burmese that must be protected from danger. He is symbolically protecting the Burmese back home from the illegally-elected Junta government. The United Nations continuous rejection of the Myanmar Junta through the presence of U Kyaw Moe Tun will foster the prevalence of democracy in Myanmar.

If the Junta's appointed envoy for the UN were recognised by the UN, democracy will be hit hard.

The Irrawaddy reports that the National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma, which was formed in exile across the Thai border in December 1990, suffered from disappearances and murders.

Two of its ministers, U Win Ko and U Hla Pe, disappeared separately in 1992 and were found murdered the next year.

U Hla Pe was murdered in Bangkok. U Win Ko’s body was found in a hotel room in southern China. No one claimed responsibility for the deaths.

Myanmar has been in turmoil since the February coup, with the regime killing more than 900 people, according to human rights groups.

Therefore, U Kyaw Moe Tun, the beacon of hope, peace and continuous democracy for Myanmar, must be protected. He is the EVIP after Aung San Suu Kyi.

Psaki defends Biden sexual allegations
Reporter : Shawn Ambrosino, FreedomWire / Images : Video Screenshots
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was grilled during a recent press conference about the sexual allegations against Cuomo, and the line of questioning quickly turned to Biden. With Biden, along with VP Kamala Harris and Speaker Nancy Pelosi calling on Cuomo to resign, it seems only fair to ask.

New York Post reporter Steve Nelson said, “In a follow up to the report on Governor Cuomo’s sexual harassment, a lot of men in politics have been accused of sexual harassment, President Biden was accused by female Secret Service agents of skinny dipping in front of them, offending them, according to another Washington Post reporter Ronald Kessler who is an author as well. His former Senate aide Tara Reade accused him of sexual assault. The Washington Post and The New York Times published multiple accounts of women who objected to the way President Biden touched them. Should there be an independent investigation of allegations into the president as there was into Governor Cuomo?”

That is a fair question since Americans never got the answer they needed back in 2020 when these allegations first surfaced.

So, Psaki answered these questions as best as she could but her reply is not a thorough answer, ““Well, first I would say the president has been clear and outspoken about the importance of women being respected and having their voices heard and being allowed to tell their stories and people treating them with respect. That has long been his policy continues to be his policy. That was heavily litigated during the campaign. I understand you’re eager to come back to it. But I don’t have anything further other than to repeat that he has called for the governor to resign.”

Nelson asked further, “Heavily litigated during the campaign”? Really? Is that your answer, Jen?”

According to Tara Reade, there was no such litigation.

In a tweet by Tara Reade,  the former Biden aide, she revealed some truth, calling out Psaki’s straight-up LIE about what happened during the campaign.

Reade asked Psaki, “Did I miss the investigation and litigation? I sure did not miss the smears and attacks on my character during Joe Biden’s campaign as I came forward. Was it safe to come forward? I think not.”

So, which is it, Jen? Was it actually litigated? Or was it simply given a quick glance and then swept under the rug?

America deserves to know the truth—both about why she is lying and whether Biden was “elected” with a cloud of sexual assault hanging over his quickly-emptying head.

This is the Deep State at its finest, protecting its own rather than allowing truth and justice to prevail.

Let’s put all the cards on the table. Trump has been investigated multiple times. Maybe it is time for Sleepy Joe to get the same treatment.

As Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and when they fail in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of social progress.”

New York restaurants taken aback by requirement of vaccine passport

Reporter : Petr Svab, The Epoch Times PREMIUM

Just as New York City restaurateurs thought they would perhaps see their way out of crushing COVID-19 restrictions and back to “normalcy,” the city’s government dealt out another blow: Restaurants will now have to check customers for proof of vaccination, or themselves face fines.

In response, restaurant owners seem to have flocked to one of two positions. Some support the rule as long as it prevents more lockdowns while others reject it as an unreasonable imposition on their already vulnerable operations.

Restaurants have been among the hardest hit by the lockdown imposed in response to the CCP virus pandemic, which causes COVID-19. New York City boasted a flourishing restaurant scene in 2019, with more than 23,000 establishments and more than 300,000 employed, according to a state comptroller report (pdf).

The lockdowns slashed employment by about two-thirds in the sector in April 2020. It has been gradually recovering since, in major part depending on federal relief funding and solidarity of their landlords.

December 2020 sales were 50 to 100 percent lower than the year before for most restaurants and bars, according to a survey by the NYC Hospitality Alliance, an industry group. For two in five, sales were 90 to 100 percent lower.

If the government stopped supports such as rent subsidies and the eviction ban, nearly half said they would go out of business. Only 15 percent said they would not. The rest are not sure.

The vaccine requirement, announced by Mayor Bill de Blasio on August 3, would apply to both staff and customers at restaurants, bars, gymnasiums, and entertainment venues. It may be expanded to other establishments too, a New York City Department of Health official told The Epoch Times.

Businesses will have to ask customers for their vaccination card issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or vaccination confirmation on the city or state phone app. The rule goes into effect on August 16 and enforcement through inspections will start on September 13.

More than a third of New Yorkers have not received even the first of the two doses of the vaccine, which was developed in 2020 in record speed and rolled out through an emergency authorization before the completion of clinical trials.

It is still not clear how the NYC requirement will work in practice, Head of the Alliance, Andrew Rigie, told The Epoch Times, "The city announced the policy and over the coming weeks is going to develop the guidelines, so many questions still need to be answered,” he said via email. “We will work to inform the guidelines to make them as clear and fair to restaurants as possible.”

He said that bar and restaurant owners are “very split on the issue”, based on conversations the Alliance has had with some of them, "Some support it, others oppose it. All seem to agree we can’t go to harsher restrictions and shutdowns again.”

For Karla Martinez, Manager of Chirp restaurant in Manhattan’s Garment District, the rule announcement is “confusing". She said, “The Mayor saying one thing, the Governor saying another thing, the CDC saying yet another thing.”

Some people are already irked when asked to put on a mask.

Karla suggested that asking for a vaccination card will only exacerbate the situation. She said, “They’re going to get angry.” She was not even sure how to enforce the rule, noting that she doesn’t have the budget to have a person stand by the door checking people’s vaccination papers.

The Peruvian restaurant has been around for three years, barely surviving the lockdowns and still hanging on by a thread.

Karla said, “It’s still rough. Everyday it’s very uncertain for us. We don’t know if tomorrow we’re going to be able to open the doors.”

She was hoping the rule will not cost her customers. She added, “But at this point, we don’t know anything”.

Mostafa Zouini, Manager of nearby Cafe Aroma, indicated he will comply with the rule but acknowledged it will make some customers unhappy. He said, “It’s like going back to square one”.

He recalled the backlash he received when the city told establishments to have customers put down their email addresses for contact tracing and even have their temperature checked before getting served. He said, “They used to get mad and leave”.

Down the street, the manager at Pomodoro Italian eatery opposed the new rule.

Only identifying himself by his last name, Liu said, “It’s stupid, because it’s not our job to police people.” He said he supports everybody getting vaccinated, but he is not in favour of turning away customers based on that.

Liu said, “Whether you’re not vaccinated or you’re vaccinated, you’re still my customer.”

He expects businesses will ignore the rule rather than lose customers over it.

Liu said, “People are not going to follow”. He suggested it is the New York city government’s fault that so many people are not getting vaccinated.

A lack of incentives is not the core issue holding people back, he said. The problem is that “there’s no outreach.” The government should just focus on educating people, in his view.

Liu said, “Instead, they’re forcing these ridiculous laws on us.”

White House Official: Foreign visitors to the U.S. may be required to show COVID-19 vaccination proof

Reporter : Jack Philipps, The Epoch Times PREMIUM

The White House confirmed  on 5 August 2021 that it is considering requiring foreign visitors to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination as a condition for international travel.

Jeff Zients, the White House COVID-19 response coordinator, told reporters on Thursday that several federal agencies are examining the possibility of issuing such a mandate.

Zients said at the White House COVID-19 briefing, “We will be ready when it is the right time to consider reopening.”  He appeared to confirm anonymously sourced reports that administration officials will have to present proof they are vaccinated against the disease.

There is still no timetable on when the United States will resume international travel to certain countries as a number of federal officials have cited concerns about the Delta variant.

In early 2020, the United States imposed its first restrictions on travel from the People's Republic of China, where SARS-CoV-2 originated, before imposing travel restrictions on other countries.

Canada recently announced it would allow “non-essential” travel from the U.S. if travelers can provide proof of vaccination. The U.S., however, did not reciprocate Canada’s policy and has kept its border with its northern neighbor closed due to the pandemic.

In contrast, along the U.S.–Mexico border, which is still seeing record numbers of illegal immigrants crossing, proof of COVID-19 vaccination is not required before aliens are released into the United States. Reports last month said that during the final week of July, about 7,000 people who crossed illegally were released in McAllen, Texas.

Reports citing anonymous sources also said the Biden-Harris administration is creating a plan to provide vaccines to illegal immigration.

It was not immediately clear whether a plan would require visitors arriving from Mexico and Canada to be vaccinated before crossing land borders.

Starting late July 2021, a number of large corporations including Google, Facebook, Tyson Foods, and many others started mandating that their employees get vaccinated by a certain date or potentially face termination. The federal government will soon require employees to get vaccinated or wear a mask and practise safe distancing.

This week, New York City became the first to announce a policy implementing a COVID-19 vaccine pass that requires customers to show proof of vaccination before they enter restaurants, gymnasiums and theatres. The Los Angeles City Council is working on passing a similar mandate.

Vaccine passports and similar systems have been criticized by civil liberties groups, conservatives and even some Democrats as creating a segregated society of vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

During a news conference earlier this week, Zients announced that it is “time to impose some requirements on COVID-19 vaccines.”

President Joe Biden called on states and local governments to use funding they have received, including from the American Rescue Plan, "to give $100 to anyone who gets fully vaccinated. If financial incentives like these help us get more shots in arms, we should use them.”

However, Biden went a step further, saying that mandates must be imposed.

Zients proclaimed, "But in addition to incentives, it’s time to impose some requirements based on the realities of different risks unvaccinated individuals pose versus those who have been vaccinated.”

Election audit at Maricopa County, Arizona, impeded by county officials

Reporter : Ryan James, FreedomWire

On Election Night 2020, it appeared that President Trump was on his way to a second term. He won Florida, Texas, and Ohio by comfortable margins, and he was leading in Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. Americans went to bed with a big Trump lead, only to wake up the next morning to see Trump losing ground in all those states, including Arizona and Nevada. How could this happen?

Well, that is what the Arizona State Senate is trying to figure out, and they have commissioned an audit of election results in the Grand Canyon State to get to the bottom of it. However, they are not getting cooperation from Maricopa County, the largest county in the state, and the county most in question.

It appeared that Trump would win the state but inexplicably, Fox News called the state for Joe Biden early on election night.

Now, just when the investigation was about to take off, Maricopa County officials have stopped complying.

CBS News reported, “The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and Dominion Voting Systems refused Monday to provide additional material requested in subpoenas from Republicans in the Arizona Senate.”

Arizona Senate President Karen Fann and Republican Senator Warren Petersen issued the subpoenas on July 26, seeking materials to help private contractors finish a controversial audit of Maricopa County’s November election ballots.

The subpoena demanded that Maricopa County and Dominion provide routers that were used in the elections, security information for accessing tabulating machines, network data logs, mail-ballot envelopes, certain voter registration records and any records related to alleged data breaches around the time of the election.”

Arizona is not the only state where questions of voter fraud abound. The media still claims there is “no evidence” of fraud to be found anywhere.

It might be that the election contained no massive voter fraud but to claim there is “no evidence” is simply not true.

Many of us would like a thorough investigation to investigate the fraud claims. That is not too much to ask for.

In Georgia, suitcases full of ballots were hidden under a table at a vote counting centre and were taken out from hiding by centre officials only after most of the other vote-counters were told to go home.

In Pennsylvania, a truck trailer full of over 100,000 ballots was stolen.

A trailer full of ballots was stolen two weeks before the election!

Once again, the U.S. Democrats argued there was no evidence of stolen ballots.

PJ Media reported “a truck driver testified that he had driven thousands of ballots from Bethpage, N.Y., to Lancaster, Pa., two weeks before Election Day. Phill Kline, a former attorney general of Kansas and director of The Amistad Project of the Thomas More Society, said The Amistad Project has corroborated the truck driver’s story.”

The truck driver, Phil Kline, then went onto say, “I then drove to Lancaster, unhooked my trailer in its normal place, and then drove my truck to where I always park it,” he recalled. “The next day, it just got weirder. As I arrived at Lancaster… my trailer was gone, not there anymore.”

In Michigan, a witness who was a contractor working with Dominion voting software testified to the Michigan legislature that she witnessed the same ballots being counted as many as 10 times at a vote counting location in downtown Detroit.

The contractor, Melissa Carone, was working the polling site at the now infamous TCF Center in downtown Detroit.

Just the News reported, Carone testified that on Election Day, the vote tabulating machines would jam up to three times an hour. She explained that when the machines would jam, election officials were supposed to reset the count on the machines to ensure that no ballots were scanned more than once.

Instead of discarding, they were just rescanning, rescanning, rescanning. Counting ballots “nine to 10 times” Carone said there were more than 20 tabulating machines at her ballot counting centre.

The ballots were meant to be counted in batches of 50 though. Carone noted that she observed the tabulation count climb well into the hundreds multiple times throughout the day.

The above is one of several first-hand accounts of issues with the Dominion Voting Systems across the country. This is far from an isolated occurrence.

A forensic test of Dominion voting machines in a small county in Northern Michigan was conducted, and the results confirm what Sydney Powell and other Trump lawyers have been saying since December 2020: Dominion voting machines were programmed to commit voter fraud.

The forensic test was conducted on voting machines in Antrim County, Michigan. On election night, the country reported final results that had Biden winning the county—and anyone that knows anything about that area of North West Michigan knows that was very unlikely. It is Trump country through and through.

However, on 5 November 2020, 6,000 votes were reversed and put in Biden’s column, giving Biden Maricopa County.

We may never get to the bottom of what happened during the 2020 U.S. Election.

Florida Governor DeSantis fires back at Biden: Do your job

Reporter : Eric Mack, Newsmax

Image : Video Screenshot of DeSantis
After President Joe Biden tried to deflect blame for rising COVID cases onto Republican governors like Florida's GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis, DeSantis fired back, telling the president pointedly to "do your job."

"Why don't you do your job?" DeSantis told reporters on Wednesday, saving his heated remarks for the very end of an 18-plus-minute news conference. "Why don't you get this border secure?

"And until you do that, I don't want to hear a blip about COVID from you."

DeSantis' remarks came after Biden lashed out at Republican governors in the two largest red states for their COVID-19 response amid the rise of the delta variant, saying DeSantis and Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott have demonstrated "bad health policy."

"We need leadership from everyone, and if some governors aren't willing to do the right thing to beat this pandemic, then they should allow businesses and universities who want to do the right thing to be able to do it," Biden told White House reporters Tuesday.

"I say to these governors, please help. If you aren’t going to help, at least get out of the way of people who are trying to do the right thing. Use your power to save lives."

DeSantis, in his remarks, declared that he'll keep standing in the way of Biden and his "lockdown policies," calling Florida a "free state."

"We can either have a free society, or we can have a biomedical security state," DeSantis said. "I can tell you, Florida, we're a free state.

"People are going to be free to choose to make their own decisions about themselves, about their families, about their kids education, and about putting food on the table."

With Biden taking some criticism for his pandemic and border policies, DeSantis vowed to stand in the way of lockdowns whose value is far from universally accepted.

"Joe Biden suggests that if you don't do lockdown policies, then you should 'get out of the way,' but let me tell you this: If you're coming after the rights of parents in Florida, I'm standing in your way," DeSantis said. "I'm not going to let you get away with it.

"If you're trying to deny kids a proper in-person education, I'm going to stand in your way, and I'm going to stand up for the kids in Florida. If you're trying to restrict people, impose mandates, if you're trying to ruin their jobs and their livelihoods and their small business, if you are trying to lock people down, I am standing in your way,

"And I'm standing for the people of Florida."

Surgeon General: American kids less than 12 years old likely to get Pfizer covid virus vaccine in upcoming school year

Reporter : Isabel Van Brugen, The Epoch Times PREMIUM

U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy has said he believes it’s likely that a COVID-19 vaccine for children under 12 will be given emergency use authorization during the next school year.

Murthy made the remarks during an appearance on the “Skimm This” podcast.

“What are the odds that a vaccine for kids under 12 will be approved during the next school year?” Murthy was asked as part of the podcast’s “lightning round.”

“I think the odds are high,” Murthy responded.

COVID-19 vaccines currently are not available for children under the age of 12 in the United States. However, Pfizer said in a statement in June that it was beginning to test its mRNA vaccine in a larger group of children under the age of 12 after selecting a lower dose of the shot in an earlier stage of the trial.

A Pfizer spokesperson said at the time that the company expects data from 5-to-11-year-olds in September and would likely ask regulators for emergency use authorization later that month. Data for children 2 to 5 years old could arrive soon after that, the spokesperson said.

The company also said it’s testing a dose on children in the 6-month to 2-year-old age group and expects to have that data sometime in October or November.

Its vaccine has been authorized for use in children as young as 12 in Europe and Canada. They receive the same dose as adults: 30 micrograms.

This comes as scientists in the United States and elsewhere are studying the possibility of a link between heart inflammation and mRNA vaccines, particularly among males aged 12 to 24 years. Both Pfizer and Moderna’s vaccines are mRNA vaccines.

The safety committee of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) last month concluded that heart inflammation “can occur in very rare cases” and recommended “listing myocarditis and pericarditis as new side effects in the product information for these vaccines, together with a warning to raise awareness among healthcare professionals and people taking these vaccines.”

Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on July 30 published a study that found that nearly 400 children between the ages of 12 and 17, most of them boys, were diagnosed with heart inflammation after receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Heart inflammation wasn’t identified as an adverse reaction during the safety trials for the vaccine.

The CDC’s advisory committee has maintained that the risks of high inflammation do not outweigh the benefits of the vaccine and continues to recommend it to children aged 12 and older.

Some scientific experts have questioned, however, whether COVID-19 vaccines are appropriate to give to certain groups of people.

The inventor of mRNA vaccine technology, Dr. Robert Malone, has said that the risk-benefit ratio of the vaccine for children doesn’t “look so good.”

“Typically, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices [ACIP] of the CDC would be evaluating risk-benefit ratio for a new vaccine in a vigorous way, using quality-adjust life years,” Malone told The Epoch Times’ “American Thought Leaders” program.

“And then the ACIP would come out with a recommendation saying this vaccine is good to be used in the elderly. It’s pretty compelling in this case with these vaccines that even though there are adverse events, their risk of COVID death or significant disease is pretty high. So that’s an easy one to say yes to.

“Adolescents, in contrast, have a very, very low probability of disease or death from COVID. … That calculation doesn’t come out looking so good.”

Malone urged people to take the time to do their research before making a decision.

“It’s up to you. It’s your body. It’s your choice. I strongly suggest that you take the time to get informed, do the best you can, and then make the decision that you think is right for you,” Malone said.

Representatives for Pfizer did not immediately respond to a request for comment by The Epoch Times.

Biden admin sues Texas for blocking transportation of "illegal immigrants"

Reporter : Grace Saldana, FreedomWire

Nothing says “illegal immigrants first” like the Biden Administration’s determination to transport undocumented immigrants across the United States, regardless of identity or health status.

The Biden Administration sued Texas on Friday to block Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive order that essentially banned the transportation of illegal immigrants because of the risk that they could be spreading COVID-19 throughout the state.

“The order is both dangerous and unlawful,” Attorney General Merrick Garland wrote in a letter warning Abbott, according to the Associated Press.

Garland added that the state of Texas has “no authority to interfere” with the federal government’s handling of illegal immigrants at the border.

Abbott’s order stated that “the admittance and movement of migrants under the Biden administration” has exposed Texan residents heightened risk of contracting the coronavirus “creating a public health disaster” in Texas, the New York Post reported.

With the exception of “federal, state, or local law-enforcement” officials, the governor’s order prohibits nonprofits or other entities from transporting undocumented migrants. The order directs the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to stop “any vehicle upon reasonable suspicion” and tell them to “reroute” back to the point of origin or port of entry.

Vehicles that do not comply could be impounded by Texas DPS.

It is absurd that the Biden Administration will essentially allow anyone across our southern border, regardless of whether they have the coronavirus or not, while at the same time considering forcing U.S. citizens to get the COVID vaccine or else face more lockdowns and restrictions.

Not to mention, the Biden White House is putting Americans at higher risk of contracting COVID, but also other diseases and illnesses immigrants might be bringing from their home countries.

American citizens should not be forced to suffer the consequences of problems created by the Biden Administration and its progressive “open border” policies.

It will take 32 days to demolish the Shenzhen SEG Building, the main cause of the violent shock was caught!
The iconic building in Shenzhen, China, "SEG Building", shook for three consecutive days from 18 to 20 May 2021. At that time, it caused people to flee in panic and scream, and then an expert commissioned by the Chinese authorities According to the results of the group investigation, the main factor for the vibration of the SEG Building is the resonance caused by the mast of the top floor. According to the latest news from the Chinese media, the removal of the mast of the top floor is underway and the effective construction period is about 32 days.
According to a report by Xinhua News Agency at night of 5 August, the SEG Building appeared in May, which caused widespread concern. The person in charge of the relevant unit and the expert group stated in mid-July that the SEG Building was being designed. Within the load range and under normal use, the main structure is safe and can be used continuously.
In addition, the expert group also believes that removing the mast can effectively solve the problem of perceived vibration in the building. The original lightning protection and navigation mark functions of the mast can be re-arranged on the roof after the mast is removed.
The report also pointed out that the top-floor mast removal project is in progress, and the notice issued by SEG Property Management Company shows that the effective construction period is about 32 days.

Zhengzhou is an important town for agricultural products, automobiles and electronics foundry
Henan, China has encountered rare continuous rainstorms, causing serious disasters. The heavy rain not only rushed into the urban subway, the Jingguang Road tunnel was swallowed by floods in an instant, and many vehicles were wiped out. As of 2 August, the official death toll was 302, and 50 people are still missing. However, Zhengzhou is not only rich in a large number of crops, but also an important town in the automobile and foundry industries. How much impact does this flood have on the local economy?
Henan was hit by heavy rains. On 20 July 2021, the single-day rainfall in Zhengzhou exceeded the highest value ever recorded. That night, rainwater poured into the underground tunnels of Zhengzhou City and the trains of Line 5. The subway car was flooded by the flood, and the water was deep to the chest. Hundreds of passengers were trapped in the subway car. Land and air traffic are blocked, some hospitals and residential areas have power outages, and Zhengzhou's flood control emergency response has been upgraded to the highest level.
In 3 days, the rainfall in Zhengzhou was 617.1 millimeters, which is close to the usual rainfall of 1 year. The flooding of the Zhengzhou subway has also continued to ferment on the Internet. People questioned whether the official warning of rainstorms was timely, what response measures were taken by the relevant departments, what relevant filings were made by the subway, and whether the emergency resilience of the rescue system was insufficient. After the disaster, a large area of Zhengzhou was out of power and network, and the people who were accustomed to using electronic payments were at a loss.
In 2016, Zhengzhou invested a huge amount of RMB 50 billion in construction to improve the city's flood control and drainage capabilities, hoping to turn Zhengzhou into a "sponge city" with functions such as water absorption and water storage. However, this torrential rain broke this myth. The torrential rain caused a large-scale interruption of Zhengzhou's railway, aviation, and road transportation. As the city is an important north-south, east-west transportation route, the impact has spread to many parts of China.

Sponge city design fails 14.53 million victims
After the floods, some people questioned why the sponge city built with so much money would fail. According to Reuters, the design of the sponge city includes the use of permeable asphalt pavement to encourage the city to expand the green area, build ponds and restore wetlands to absorb excess rainwater. Chen Jiaxin, Department of Geology, University of Nottingham Ningbo, China, told the media that the sponge city is designed to deal with rainfall of about 180-200 mm, which is difficult to withstand the astonishing rainfall that invades Zhengzhou. In addition, to prevent the subway from flooding, the overall basic design of the city must be changed.
According to statistics from Henan Province, as of the latest disaster situation on 2 August, 302 people have been killed and 50 people are missing. As rescuers find more bodies of victims in Zhengzhou and surrounding villages and towns, the actual number of victims is still increasing. A total of 150 counties, municipalities, and 1,663 towns in Henan Province, a total of 14.531,600 people were affected by the disaster. 933,800 people were evacuated in an emergency, and a maximum of 1,470,800 people were transferred and resettled. The disaster area of crops was 8.72 million mu, and the area with no harvest was 3.8 million mu, causing a direct economic loss of 114.269 billion yuan.

Zhengzhou's grain production accounts for 10% of the country's annual output of 500,000 vehicles
Henan's economy mainly depends on agriculture and industry. In recent years, grain output has accounted for about 10% of China's total grain output. In addition, Zhengzhou is also a big city in the traditional automobile industry. It produces approximately 500,000 vehicles each year, accounting for about 3% of the output of major automobile manufacturers such as Yutong Bus, Haima Automobile and Zhengzhou Nissan in China.
Henan is also one of the largest pork production areas in China. Reuters reported that according to a farmer surnamed Cheng, his village had lost at least 200,000 chickens and 6,000 pigs, and the stench of livestock corpses was soaked in water everywhere, making local farmers desperate. The newspaper estimated that the floods inundated about 1,678 large-scale farms throughout Henan, and more than 1 million livestock died. However, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China has come forward to indicate that the impact of the flood on China's overall food supply is limited.
Due to the tightening of pork production in China in recent years and the high degree of consumer preference for pork, millions of small pig farmers still play an important role in China's pork production. Especially after the African Swine Fever in 2018-2019, many farmers resumed their work in raising pigs and expanded the scale of raising pigs, hoping to sell them at a good price.
However what farmers now worry about is that the CCP regime may not even compensate for a dime, and some farmers have even decided to give up raising pigs. In addition to economic losses, people are also worried that sudden floods may cause African swine fever, which was finally suppressed, to break out again, because once swine fever occurs, the losses may be more serious than simple floods.

Zhengzhou is also known as "iPhone City", the impact remains to be seen
The flooding of Zhengzhou has also disrupted the supply chain of many factories in the region. In particular, half of the iPhones Apple sells globally are manufactured in Zhengzhou, which is also known as the "iPhone City". The outside world is curious whether Zhengzhou floods will impact iPhone foundry?
The VOA reported that the source pointed out that only one of Foxconn's three factories in Zhengzhou was affected by floods, and the flooded factory was a connector factory instead of an iPhone foundry. Since there was no damage to the machine and Foxconn had a good grasp of the raw materials And parts, so production is unlikely to be interrupted. In this regard, Hon Hai Chairman Liu Yangwei said at the shareholders meeting that the floods in Zhengzhou, Henan have little effect on performance.

Apple may launch Zhengzhou-manufactured iPhone 13 in September 2021
It is widely expected that Apple will launch the iPhone 13 in September 2021. If shipping is resumed smoothly, it should be able to catch up with the original release schedule. However, due to the large area of flood damage, post-disaster reconstruction may take more time. The streets have become rivers, and the suspension of flights and trains in various parts of Henan has brought a high degree of uncertainty to iPhone production. Whether the iPhone 13 can be launched as scheduled depends mainly on the local transportation network and how quickly it can recover.
The State Council of China has established an investigation team that will investigate and evaluate the disaster response process in accordance with the law, summarize disaster response experience and lessons, and propose improvement measures for disaster prevention and mitigation. Any dereliction of duty will be held accountable. However, Chinese officials mainly attribute the flooding and road paralysis of the Zhengzhou subway system to this historic heavy rain and call it a "one-in-a-millennium" event. Once there are articles criticizing the behavior of local governments, they will soon be "disappeared."

Stung by the Xinjiang issue in Hong Kong, Wang Yi went wild at the ASEAN Conference
On 4 August 2021, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) hosted the ASEAN Summit Foreign Ministers' Meeting. The Foreign Minister of the Communist Party of China Wang Yi once again assumed the posture of war wolf.
The thing is like this. At the meeting, US Secretary of State Blinken criticized the CCP for violating international laws and coercing other countries; it trampled on human rights in Xinjiang and Tibet, and contained democracy and freedom in Hong Kong. Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Toshimitsu Motegi also expressed the same concern.
In this regard, Wang Yi seems to have come prepared. He had already spoken, but asked to speak again to fight back.
Wang Yi claimed that Xinjiang and Hong Kong affairs are all so-called "China's internal affairs." The United States and other countries pointed out the problems and "pointed fingers, spread rumors and smeared them."
He also clamored, "You still have to express your so-called concerns now. What are you concerned about?" If it is to give Hong Kong people a chance to march on the streets again, he said, "I want to tell you clearly, it's impossible to die. Wait until that day."
According to the outside world's analysis of the behavior of the Wolf Warriors, Wang Yi did this to a large extent for the domestic people to show his loyalty and to gain political capital. Or perhaps, he still thinks that this kind of arrogant arrogance will appear to be strong enough to overwhelm the opponent. However, his fierce performance is likely to assist the United States, pushing ASEAN countries further.
According to officials from the U.S. State Department, Brinken stated his views on China’s human rights issues at the ASEAN meeting in order to show countries in Southeast Asia. Although the United States does not require any country to choose between the United States and China (the Chinese Communist Party), Obviously, compared with China (the CCP), which suppresses internally and arrogantly externally, "the United States is a country that shares common values with ASEAN countries, and a sincere and trustworthy partner."
Looking at it this way, has Wang Yi "showed his own words" and helped the United States?

The Biden-Harris administration approves arms sales to Taiwan for the first time, the CCP wants to "counter"
In addition to getting angry at the ASEAN Conference, another incident on the same day also frustrated the CCP.
According to the statement of the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), on  August, the State Council has issued a notice to Congress that it intends to sell 40 new M109A6 self-propelled guns, nearly 1,700 artillery precision guidance kits, and a set of advanced field artillery tactics to Taiwan. Data System (AFATDS), etc., totaling approximately US$750 million.
This is the first time that the Biden-Harris administration has approved arms sales to Taiwan.
Bloomberg reported that this case needs to be reviewed by the Congress, and then Taiwan will negotiate with the contractor to finalize the contract and finalize the delivery time. Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense stated that the U.S. government has "notified Congress" and is expected to formally sign the contract in one month.
In the list of weapons sold, the most eye-catching is the M109A6 self-propelled gun. It can improve Taiwan's ground capability to resist CCP invasion, and it is also the main artillery fire of the U.S. artillery.
According to the Central News Agency, the maximum range of M109A6 can reach 30,000 meters. It takes about 60 seconds from the completion of the shooting preparation to the launch of the first shell. The maximum rate of fire for continuous shooting can reach 8 rounds in 1 minute. The report also quoted the Taiwan military's statement that the M109A6 is "the effect of a single artillery company."
In response to this, the CCP’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs website quickly issued a press release to respond, demanding that the United States “immediately cancel the relevant arms sales plan to Taiwan”, otherwise, they will take “necessary countermeasures” in accordance with the development of the situation.
The CCP’s verbal threats to Taiwan and the United States are not once or twice, but no one is deterred. On the 4th, the commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, John C. Aquilino, said at a forum, “We are in contact with Taiwan to ensure that they can defend themselves.” “We are here to ensure that the entire region We must ensure that Taiwan’s status quo remains unchanged."
Aquilino was also asked how to evaluate the ability of the United States to defend Taiwan in a crisis. He emphasized that "The United States still has the most powerful military in the world. The so-called decline of the United States has no factual basis."

US Congressman: Don’t fall into CCP's trap, we are anti-Communist, not anti-China
While the Indo-Pacific region is fighting against Beijing, the United States has also clearly seen that the CCP's penetration into the United States has reached the point of pervasiveness. Many parliamentarians are taking action to let the public see this clearly.
On the 4th, the Senate Intelligence Committee held a rare public hearing to convey information to the American public.
Vice Chairman of the Committee and Republican Senator Marco Rubio said at the meeting that the CCP’s long-arm jurisdiction over the United States is not a threat to the future, but an ongoing one. This is a "horror show of the 21st century."
He said, "When you see one problem after another related to China (the CCP), it sends a powerful signal." "Today, what the CCP can say to Americans, what can they listen to, and read. What and what can be seen are more controlled than any foreign government in our history. They turned our social openness into a weapon, turned our goodness and integrity into a weapon, and turned the desire for profit of enterprises into weapons and come against us."
Bill Evanina, former director of the US National Center for Counterintelligence and Security, said that both parties in Congress have a consensus that "China (the CCP) will not change (for the better)", and it will not change even in the future. , "It will only double the current practice."
In addition, during the hearing, members of the two parties and witnesses who testified repeatedly emphasized that it is the Chinese Communist Party that poses a threat to the United States, not the Chinese people, nor are they Chinese or Asian people.
The Chairman of the Intelligence Committee and Democratic Senator Mark Warner also said, “Our challenge is the CCP and its leadership, any widespread racist or xenophobic statements against the Chinese, Chinese diasporas, and Chinese Americans in this country, Asian Americans, to be honest, this is harmful to our country and values, and it just falls on the agenda of the CCP, saying that these people will never be able to integrate, and China is your permanent and solid home."

Family Planning Association solicits "Three-child Propaganda Slogan" from the society to respond to the big rollover
In response to the aging population, the CCP changed its population birth policy at the end of May this year, allowing a couple to have three children. Beijing, Sichuan, Jiangxi and other provinces and cities have successively announced policies to encourage childbirth, including giving a few more days of holidays and granting some subsidies.
On the other hand, the number of newborns in CCP China this year is still showing a downward trend. For example, the official website data shows that in the first quarter of 2021, there were 30 birth registrations in Tianji Street, Panji District, Huainan City, Anhui Province, and 118 in the same period in 2020, a decrease of 74.58%; 291 birth registrations in Zhenhai District, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province For example, there were 439 cases in the same period in 2020, a decrease of 33.71%. This phenomenon occurs in many other places.
In addition, according to a report by Radio Free Asia, some people in the medical community calculated based on the data of newborn vaccinations that in the first half of this year, the birth rate of newborns in China dropped by nearly 40% year-on-year. According to regulations, newborn babies must be injected with specific vaccines.
The inability of the number of newborns has caused a headache for the Beijing authorities. On August 5th, a number of Lu media forwarded the news of the CCP Family Planning Association (FPA) to collect slogans and slogans about three-child birth from the society. If the slogan that comes up is expropriated, there will be bonuses ranging from 300 yuan to 1,000 yuan. The article also gives the method of submission.
As a result, a large number of netizens "actively participated." They also said that without the hassle of submitting articles, we will write your ideas directly in the comment area. What did they write?
Some people say, "fewer births and better births, a happy life", "one person has more than one birth, the whole village is ligated", "there is only one good, and the government will provide for the aged", and "if you want to be rich, have fewer children and more trees." It's all ironic of the CCP's bloody one-child policy.
There are also many people who say, "Three and three get leeks", "Give birth more and die early, so as not to cause trouble to the country" to condemn the true intentions of the CCP to encourage childbirth.

Taiwan second level of alert has been extended to 23 August 2021! Singapore loosens entry restrictions for Taiwanese travelers

Taiwan's national secondary alert has been extended until 23 August 2021. It is reported that the central government considers that the domestic epidemic has entered a low-level epidemic, and it will take another two weeks to observe the trend.  Chen Shizhong from the command centre let go the information on 5 August that there is no preparation for lowering the epidemic alert level after 9 August.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health of Singapore announced on 5 August 2021 that starting from 11.59 pm on Saturday (7 August 2021), travelers from Taiwan who have a negative PCR nucleic acid test can move freely and be free from quarantine.

The Ministry of Health stated that passengers who have stayed in Taiwan for at least 21 days before departure will have to undergo a PCR test after arriving at Changi Airport in the future. As long as the result is negative, they can move freely. This rule also applies to short-term Air Pass (ATP) visitors. The application for ATP is now open, and Taiwanese can enter Singapore from 12 August 2021.
The epidemic broke out in Taiwan in May, and Singapore had set regulations at the time. Passengers with a history of travel to Taiwan must be quarantined at a specific institution for 14 days. Now if the number of days of quarantine exceeds the effective time of the new regulations on Saturday, the entire process must still be completed and tested at the end.
The Ministry of Health stated that the epidemic situation in Taiwan has improved but it will continue to adjust border control measures. It also encourages all travelers to register on the Internet and pay for PCR testing before going to Singapore.

The sixth round of vaccination uses MVC-COV1901. Chen Shizhong reveals the fastest vaccination day
Editor : Zhuang Yating

MVC COVID-19 Vaccine (MVC-COV1901) has obtained an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), and has been sealed by Taiwan Food and Drug Administration and is ready to be vaccinated by citizens at public expense.
On 6 August 2021, Chen Shizhong  said at the press conference that the current vaccination plan is to vaccinate Moderna during the fifth round, and the MVC-COV1901 will be administered during the sixth round.  Taiwanese can vaccinate the new domestic vaccine in the second half of the year.
The media asked how many batches of MVC covid vaccines were sent for sealing and testing, and how many passed and how many needed replacements. Chen Shizhong said that a total of 22 were sent, but because each batch was small in output, it was rolled out every day. However,  it cannot be sealed and inspected because of the small quantity. As long as the products that pass the sealing test are qualified products, of course, he hopes that the quantity can be a little more because there are many people who want to be vaccinated.
Chen Shizhong, commander of the Central Epidemic Command Center, announced today that the fifth round of vaccination will be Moderna, and the sixth round is expected to open for vaccinators of MVC-COV1901.
As of 2.35 pm, more than 1 million people in Taiwan have registered on the covid platform and are willing to receive MVC-COV1901.
The fourth round of vaccination is currently ongoing, which is the AZ vaccine, and the fifth round of vaccination is expected to start from the 11 to 17 August 2021. The vaccine is Moderna. Chen Shizhong said at the epidemic press conference today that it is estimated that the sixth round of vaccination will begin after 17 August.
Chen Shizhong said that the production of MVC-COV1901 is relatively small, and each batch is small, and the relevant inspection and sealing procedures cannot be done because of the small quantity but the inspection is completed and the product is qualified.
Chen Shizhong said that there are currently 22 MVC products sent, and 8 batches of replacement parts are required. 10 batches of inspection are carried out daily because each batch of MVC covi vaccine is relatively small. 2L can only do 5 or 6000 doses, and 20L can do more than 85,000 doses.

Taiwan-Palau Tourism Bubble will restart on 14 August 2021 or as soon as possible. There is no limit to group travel and vaccinations are also available
Reporter : Zheng Weiqi

The tourism bubble between Taiwan and Palau was suspended in mid-May. As the epidemic in Taiwan stabilizes, it is expected to restart. Lei Jun, director of the Taiwan Office of the Palau Tourism Bureau, said that both Taiwan and Palau have the willingness to restart the tourism bubble. The current agreement is roughly negotiated, and Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs may announce the restart today or 9 August. This time, apart from general tourism, Palau can provide Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, and Janssen vaccination. It is understood that Taiwan's first flight after restarting the tourism bubble may fly to Palau on 14 August 2021 at the earliest.
Lei Jun said that the current international epidemic is still severe. People want to travel abroad, unlike in April 2021. There are still many countries to choose from, and the local vaccination percentage in Palau has reached herd immunity, and it has always maintained zero diagnosis. It is time to restart the travel bubble. The prevention measures are also moving toward maintaining the previous agreement. After returning to Taiwan, it only takes 5 days to strengthen independent health management and 9 days independent health management instead of staying in a 14-day epidemic prevention hotel. The bubble is bigger.
If the tourism bubble is successfully restarted this time, it will be more convenient to travel to Palau. Because when the tourism bubble was first opened, Palau was worried that Taiwan would bring the epidemic in. So it was stipulated that groups should be in and out of the group. In addition to group tours, free travel is also open.
Taiwanese and foreigners can travel to Palau with Taiwan residence permits. In addition, there are already 145 local tourism operators in Palau, including restaurants, restaurants, charter operators, tourist attractions, etc., all of which have obtained epidemic prevention training certificates. Taiwanese people have a higher choice of tourism in Palau.
Lei Jun said that although the hope of restarting the tourism bubble is to focus on tourism, if the people in Taiwan have a demand for vaccination, Palau can also provide vaccination but it will only be regarded as the added value of tourism rather than the main body. Therefore, only the basic charge will be charged. The administrative costs will be cheaper than Guam. However, detailed vaccine appointments, delivery procedures and administrative costs will not be announced until the two parties announce the restart of the travel bubble.
You Guozhen, general manager of Lions Tourism, said that the Taiwanese tourism bubble will not be absent after the restart of the Lions, and if there are more relaxed immigration quarantine measures than other countries, plus vaccines, tourism attributes and open and free travel. He believes that the attractiveness will be higher than the original group entering and leaving the group. Now as soon as the government announces the restart, the relevant itinerary will be put on the shelves immediately. The price of a 5-day and 4-night group tour is around NT$60,000 to NT$70,000. Freedom hotels have multiple choices, and the price can be around NT$40,000.
Regarding whether the restart of the tourism bubble will make its maiden flight on 14 August 2021, You Guozhen said that the industry has heard about the first flight date but although Lions knows that the tourism bubble may restart, it has not been soliciting customers before. This is the time point. It is more rushed. However, there will not be only one step to restart the travel bubble, so  Lions are not in a hurry to send people out on the maiden flight. The first group of the Lions is planned to depart in late August.

U.S. Senate passes bill to support Taiwan regaining its status as a WHO observer
Image: The U.S. Senate unanimously agreed to pass a bill to support Taiwan's regaining its status as an observer to the World Health Assembly. (AFP)

[Central News Agency] The US Senate passed a bill early this morning to strengthen the US's ability to support Taiwan and participate in the WHO. The bill states that the virus knows no borders and Taiwan should not be excluded from global health cooperation. The United States should formulate strategies to assist Taiwan in regaining its status as a WHO observer.
The Senate passed the U-Taiwan bill with "unanimous consent" early this morning. The bill was led by the chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, Bob Menendez, in mid-March. It was passed by the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee without objection by an oral vote on July 28, and it passed the Senate Council today.
The bill states that Taiwan is a model contributor to global health, and has invested more than US$6 billion (about NT$171.4 billion) in funding since 1996. After successfully suppressing the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) within the country last year, it generously donated millions of personal protective equipment and testing reagents to countries in need.
The bill stated that Taiwan began to strive to join the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1997. Since 2009, with the support of member states similar to those of the United States and the WHO, as well as the improvement of cross-strait relations, Taiwan has been invited to participate in the World Health Assembly (WHA) as an observer. Later, due to the opposition of the CCP, Taiwan has not been invited for many years since 2017.
The bill emphasizes, "The virus knows no borders. Unnecessarily excluding Taiwan from global health cooperation will only increase the risk of global infectious diseases."
In order to strengthen the United States’ support for Taiwan’s international participation, the bill requires the Secretary of State of the United States to explain what changes and improvements the United States has made in assisting Taiwan’s plans after each WHA meeting where Taiwan has not obtained an observer status.
The Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives passed a bill of the House of Representatives with almost the same content on 25 March 2021. If the Senate version of the bill passed today is successfully passed by the House of Representatives, it can be submitted to President Joe Biden for signature and take effect.
The bill to assist Taiwan in regaining its status as a WHA observer was first proposed in July 2017 by the then Republican Rep. Ted Yoho. After being passed by the House of Representatives at that time, it died without illness. Although Taiwanese senators made a comeback in 2019, they were not able to send bills out of Congress.
However, the outbreak of the epidemic last year made the international community more aware of the need for Taiwan to participate in global health cooperation. The bill is expected to be passed smoothly in the current Congress after years of hard work.
