U.S. intelligence community unclassified report: Inconclusive on the origin of SARS-CoV-2
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) released the non-confidential report on the origins of COVID-19 (see here) on 27 August 2021, stating that the virus SARS-CoV-2 responsible for causing COVID-19 may be a laboratory leak or it may have spread naturally from animals. The report of the intelligence agency said that the intelligence agency still disagrees on the most likely origin of SARS-CoV-2, which is "probably" not developed as a biological weapon or genetic engineered virus, but two mainstream theories, laboratory leaks or from animals spreading naturally the virus to humans.

The report did not mention the names of these intelligence agencies.
The report also said that Chinese government officials did not know about the virus before the first outbreak.
The report said that unless more information is received, the intelligence community will not be able to draw a clearer conclusion.
"Intelligence agencies believe that they cannot provide a clearer explanation...unless there is new information that enables them to determine the specific path of the earliest natural contact with animals, or determine that the Wuhan laboratory was dealing with SARS-CoV-2 or before the emergence of COVID-19, a close native virus."
US President Joe Biden said in a statement on Friday, “The key information about the origin of this epidemic is in the People’s Republic of China (within the territory). International investigators and members of the global public health community have access to this information."
The White House statement also said that the United States will continue to work with partners to force China to fully share information on the origins of COVID-19 and cooperate with the World Health Organization-the second phase of evidence-based and expert-led work to determine the origin of SARS-CoV-2, including providing all relevant data and evidence.
In addition, the United States will continue to urge China to comply with scientific norms and standards, including sharing information and data from the early stages of the pandemic, biosafety-related agreements, and information from animal groups.

China does not want NLD to be dissolved
China has voiced concern over the Myanmar military regime’s plan to dissolve the National League for Democracy (NLD), the party that won the junta-annulled 2020 general election in a landslide, several informed sources told The Irrawaddy.
