Scientists announced that drinking coffee has another magical effect!

Diabetes is currently one of the most prevalent diseases in the world. There are approximately 380 million diabetic patients in the world.

Every year, heart diseases caused by diabetes kill nearly 80,000 people.

For patients with type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes, insulin injection is an important part of their daily life. However, although insulin injection is an effective treatment, it is not perfect.

Because it is necessary to inject insulin daily to maintain blood sugar levels, it is not only troublesome, but also easy to forget.

But the good news that can benefit countless diabetic patients is that the efficacy of insulin may be replaced by coffee in the future!

According to a report in the Daily Mail, researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich are working on a new treatment for diabetes.

The key to the new treatment is coffee.

The research team discovered that if there is a type of kidney cell that detects caffeine in the bloodstream, it will produce insulin accordingly.

Subsequently, they conducted experiments on 10 diabetic mice. When the mice drink coffee, their ability to control blood sugar concentration in their bodies is better than that of ordinary mice!

The research team said that there are similar kidney cells in humans, and the specific mechanism of insulin production needs to be further determined.

In fact, the results of this experiment are by no means groundless. A study conducted by Harvard University in the United States for 126,000 people showed that coffee drinkers have a lower risk of type 2 diabetes.

This research has brought light to many diabetic patients. Perhaps in the future, diabetic patients can simply enjoy a cup of coffee to promote insulin production without the need for additional injections!

In addition, there are many benefits of coffee from the medical perspective.

In fact, from reducing the risk of death, to reducing the risk of certain cancers and diabetes, to reducing the risk of depression and Parkinson's disease, coffee has always been the "darling" of medicine.

Coffee can reduce the risk of colorectal cancer!

A recent study reported by Stephanie L. Schmit of the University of Southern California Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center (Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev) has made everyone’s love for coffee even deeper-coffee can be reduced by 26 % Of the risk of colorectal cancer.

This is a population-based molecular epidemiology study of colorectal cancer in northern Israel. The researchers developed a validated, semi-quantitative questionnaire survey on the frequency of coffee intake for 5145 patients with colorectal cancer and 4097 healthy people without a history of colorectal cancer.

Research data shows that after correcting for known risk factors, moderate (1 to 2 servings a day) coffee consumption can reduce the risk of colorectal cancer by 26%. And with the increase in coffee consumption, the risk of colorectal cancer is gradually reduced. This trend is obvious in both colon cancer and rectal cancer.

Surprised! Caffeine does not work alone. The researcher said, "Coffee contains a variety of ingredients that promote colorectal health. Caffeine and polyphenols have antioxidant effects, melanoidin can promote colonic peristalsis, and diterpenoids can resist oxidative stress damage."

Coffee reduces the cancer recurrence rate of colon cancer patients!

Researchers from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute published a study in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, claiming that regular coffee can significantly reduce tumor recurrence and improve the survival rate of patients with stage 3 colon cancer.

This study followed up the dietary patterns of 953 colorectal cancer patients who received chemotherapy for 6 months. They found that patients who drank four or more cups of coffee a day (caffeine content was about 460 mg) were better than those who did not drink coffee. The chance of cancer recurrence is 42% lower. During the follow-up period, patients who regularly drank four or more cups of coffee had a 33% lower chance of dying from cancer or any other cause than those who did not drink coffee.

Further analysis showed that the lower cancer risk is due to the caffeine absorbed by the patient, not the amount of other ingredients in coffee.

Coffee reduces the risk of liver cancer!

Research scholars from the Department of Clinical Sciences and Public Health of the University of Milan, Italy, and the Mario Negri Institute of Pharmacology in Milan, once published a report in the journal Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, claiming that any kind of coffee intake may cause hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) ) The risk is reduced by up to 50% (the reduction depends on the intake).

This report examined 16 studies conducted between 1996 and 2012, with a total of 3153 cases. The researchers said that the positive effect of coffee in preventing liver cancer may be attributed to the well-known effect of coffee in preventing diabetes, and diabetes is one of the factors that cause liver cancer; there is another possibility that coffee can prevent liver cirrhosis, which is harmful to the liver. The enzymes in it have beneficial effects.

Coffee reduces the risk of melanoma!

A study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute on January 20, 2015 shows that drinking more than four cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of skin cancer by 20% in ten years.

This study comprehensively observed 447,000 subjects and involved 124 food questionnaires. The subjects were between 50 and 71 years old, and none of them had cancer at the beginning of the study. During the more than ten years of research, more than 2,900 subjects suffered from malignant melanoma, and more than 1,900 subjects suffered from another type of skin cancer: melanoma in situ.

Excluding factors such as age, diet, and family history, and only considering the relationship between caffeinated coffee and melanoma, more than four cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of skin cancer by 20% in ten years.

Theoretically, the various components in coffee have been shown to affect a considerable number of molecular pathways, and these pathways can reduce the risk of skin cancer associated with ultraviolet light. But such a large sample study with humans as test subjects is still very convincing.

Coffee can inhibit breast cancer growth!

Researchers from Skane University Hospital at Lund University in the UK published their findings in the Journal of Clinical Cancer Research, stating that for women diagnosed with breast cancer and treated with tamoxifen, drinking coffee can inhibit tumor growth and reduce recurrence risk.

This study is aimed at 1090 patients diagnosed with primary invasive breast cancer in Sweden. It mainly evaluates the relationship between two substances commonly produced in Swedish coffee: caffeine and caffeic acid, tumor characteristics and disease-free survival.

The results of the study showed that among the at least 500 women who received tamoxifen treatment, women who drank at least two cups of coffee a day had half the risk of breast cancer recurrence compared with women who drank less than two cups or did not drink coffee. The incidence of hormone-dependent tumors is low.

Researchers believe that caffeine and caffeic acid can block cell cycle progression and enhance cell death, enhancing the effect of tamoxifen treatment.

Coffee reduces the risk of head and neck cancer!

A survey of head and neck cancer conducted by Japan's Aichi Cancer Center found that people who drink more than 3 cups of coffee a day have a 40% lower risk of head and neck cancer than those who drink less than one cup.

How much coffee should I drink every day?

Coffee has many benefits, but there is a limit to everything. How much coffee is good every day? It doesn't count as anyone, let's watch scientific research!

Professor Hu from the Harvard School of Public Health and his colleagues conducted a large-scale study, suggesting that in subjects who have never smoked, drink ≤1 cup, 1-3 cups, 3-5 cups, and >5 cups of coffee per day. The risk of all-cause mortality decreased by 6%, 8%, 15%, and 12%, respectively. The decline in mortality is mainly related to the decline in cardiovascular mortality, neurological disease mortality and suicide mortality. This research was published in the journal "Circulation" on November 16, 2015.

Combined with the previous studies on reducing the risk of cancer, perhaps 2 to 3 cups of coffee a day is a good choice.
