According to MOH, the cumulative number of confirmed covid cases on 5 October 2021 has reached 109,804, an increase of 3,486 cases from the previous day. This figure 109,804 includes death, recovery and active cases.
According to Covidsitrep data of MOH, the number of active cases on 5 October 2021 has increased by 1,732 to 23,463. The number of people isolated has increased by 1,575 to 21,951.
There is also an increase of 1,621 cases that have completed isolation, raising the figure to 79,593.
On 5 October 2021, 124 patients have recovered from covid and discharged, thus raising the recovery figure to 6,618.
There is a decrease in the number of covid cases from Intensive Care Units by 1 to 34. However, there is an increase of 158 patients admitted to General Wards to 1,478.
It is the latest Pfizer-backed analysis of their remedy, published Monday in the Lancet medical journal and conducted by researchers with Kaiser Permanente Southern California. Their findings support preliminary studies of Pfizer’s success, including one shared last spring that also showed six months of protection against severe symptoms based on just 12,000 vaccine recipients.
The ability of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to shield against infection fell by nearly half — from 88% at one month following the second dose, down to 47% — after six months. However, despite the shot’s declining defenses against viral transmission, it remained still an average of 90% effective against hospitalizations due to COVID-19, including the more aggressive Delta variant of 2021.
During the study period, between
December 2020 and August 2021, just 5.4% reported breakthrough infections. And
only a fraction of that group — 6.6% — ended up in the hospital with COVID-19
despite vaccination.
The news comes as health agencies
continue to mull the decision of whether and when to make booster vaccines, from Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson, available to the wider public — as they now do
for those aged 65 years and up; living with comorbidities at any age; or
workers in select essential and front-line industries. At the same time, public service agencies, private corporations and small businesses have begun setting
vaccine mandates for their workforces, leaving some of those without defense
against COVID-19 on unemployment.
To that end, Tartof urged US health officials to consider equity in the global fight against COVID-19.
“In line with the recent [US Food and Drug Administration] and CDC recommendations, considerations for booster shots should take global COVID-19 vaccine supply into account as people in many countries around the world have not yet received a primary vaccination series,” Tartof added.
As the vaccine’s effectiveness decreases, BioNTech has suggested that an entirely new vaccine formula may be required as soon as 2022.

BioNTech co-founder and CEO Dr. Ugur Sahin warned in September in the Financial Times, “This virus will stay, and the virus will further adapt. We have no reason to assume that the next-generation virus will be easier to handle for the immune system than the existing generation. This is a continuous evolution, and that evolution has just started.”

The Chinese People's Liberation Army has increased its efforts to harass Taiwan's southern airspace this month. In the five days up to 5 October, 150 military aircraft have been sent into the air defense identification zone of Taiwan. U.S. President Biden said on the 5th that he had talked with CCP President Xi Jinping on the Taiwan issue, and the two sides agreed to abide by the "Taiwan agreement." This is the first time Biden has responded to the frequent disturbances of the joint plane.
"Reuters" reported that Biden said in response to a reporter's question at the White House on the 5th, "I have discussed the Taiwan issue with Xi Jinping, and we agree...We will abide by the Taiwan agreement. We have made it clear that I don’t think he will do it. Anything that goes beyond compliance with the agreement will not be tolerated." Biden did not elaborate on the "Taiwan Agreement."
According to statistics from the Ministry of National Defense, the CCP sent a total of 149 military aircraft to disrupt the Southern Air Defense Identification Zone from 1 to 4 this month. Among them, 56 sorties were carried out on 4 October, the largest number of days. The Ministry of National Defense pointed out yesterday that the CCP sent a "YUN-8" anti-submarine aircraft into the air defense identification zone in China's southwest airspace on the 5th. In the first five days of October this year, the CCP had sent 150 military aircraft to disrupt Taiwan.
Regarding the CCP military aircraft’s disturbance of Taiwan, the US White House spokesperson Jen Psaki and State Department spokesperson Ned Price, apart from reiterating that the United States has expressed its high concern over CCP’s provocations, strengthened its wording and strongly urged Beijing. Stop military, diplomatic and economic pressure and coercion against Taiwan. Shaqi said bluntly that CCP China should stop "provocative military activities" near Taiwan, which would "destabilize, risk misjudgment and damage regional peace and stability." She also reiterated that the United States' commitment to Taiwan is "solid as a rock."

Epidemic economy: A missed opportunity
Reporter : Lkhagvadulam.I, lkhagvadulam@montsame.gov.mn, Montsame Chinese / https://www.montsame.mn/cn/read/276674
Affected by the covid epidemic, countries have implemented movement restrictions and closed border ports, which first caused a serious blow to the tourism and service industries. It is predicted that more than 195 million people will be unemployed globally in the first half of 2020. In addition, the long-term ban on feet has caused many small and medium-sized enterprises to go bankrupt or face bankruptcy. The economic crisis triggered by the epidemic began to sweep the world in February 2020, and mankind is facing the worst economic recession since the Great Depression in 1929.
Governments of various countries have injected large amounts of cash into the market in an attempt to overcome the crisis with minimal losses, and unprecedented high-value welfare projects have been approved one after another. All this has caused the exchange rate to fall, and inflation has become a challenge no less than the epidemic. Faced with this situation, countries face two choices: to ensure health and safety or to save the economy. The experience of many countries has shown that it is impossible to fight on two fronts at the same time. Therefore, the world is currently working to prevent the economic crisis from reaching the extent of the epidemic.
In 2020, Mongolia's GDP will shrink by 9% in the first half of the year and 4.6% at the end of the year. In the first quarter of 2021, when the economic protection policy began to be implemented, my country's GDP grew by 15.7%. However, due to the worsening of the epidemic situation in my country and the slowdown in exports, the gross domestic product fell by 5.1% in the second quarter of 2021, reaching 13.6%. Although this is an increase of 6.3% over the first half of last year, in fact we have missed many opportunities that we can take advantage of in the past period of time. In order to overcome the epidemic crisis with less losses in the future, it is necessary to summarize the missed and grasped opportunities.
Tugrik exchange rate
Since February 2020, the US dollar index has fallen by 9.2%. During this period, the tugrik depreciated 3.3% against the dollar.
Mongolian household income and inflation
In the first half of 2021, total household income increased by 58,000 tugriks year-on-year (an increase of 3.75%). The main reason is the increase of 190,000 tugriks in pensions and benefits. For example, 300,000 tugriks are provided to each citizen, and 1 million tugriks are provided to the elderly who do not have wage loans. However, family salary income decreased by 101,000 tugriks in the first half of this year. Despite the increase in household income, the inflation rate rose by 4 percentage points in the first half of this year to 7.4%. The main reason for the increase in inflation was the price increase of food and consumer goods by 47.7% and the increase in transportation costs by 23.3%. In other words, despite the increase in household income, the increase in inflation has reduced livelihoods.
Mongolian unemployment rate
Within the framework of the "10 Trillion Tugrik Comprehensive Plan to Protect Health and Revitalize the Economy", more than 24,000 companies have provided loans with an interest rate of 3%.
Thanks to concessional loans, thousands of jobs have been retained and created. It is reported that in the second quarter of 2021, the unemployment rate fell by 0.4% from the previous quarter to 8.4%.
Mongolian coal exports
Coal is an important part of my country's export revenue. In the world commodity market, coal prices have risen by 140.8% in the past year and a half. In the Chinese market, the price of coking coal has reached US$620 per ton. Canada and China imposed a ban on Australian coal last year, and my country is expected to become China's largest supplier of coking coal. As a result, Mongolia plans to export 42 million tons of coal this year. However, according to the budget amendment, it plans to export 28.7 million tons of coal, earning 1.3 trillion tugriks in revenue. However, in the first seven months of 2021, only 10.3 million tons of coal were exported.
Although container terminals have been built at important ports such as Xibekulun and Gashun Suhaitu, based on the current situation, there is no hope that coal exports will reach 20 million tons this year.
Mongolian copper exports
In contrast, it is believed that copper exports have seized some opportunities. Specifically, since February 2020, the price of copper on the world market has risen by 58.4%. In 2020, Mongolia exported 1.39 million tons of copper concentrate, and in the first seven months of this year, it exported 747,500 tons. Due to price increases, although the completion rate of copper exports is only 53.7%, the export revenue has reached the total value of last year.
Real estate prices
Within the framework of the 10 Trillion Tugrik Comprehensive Plan to Protect Health and Revitalize the Economy, mortgage interest has been reduced to 6%. Unfortunately, the backlog of goods at Zamyn-Uud port and delays in the transportation of construction materials have caused real estate prices to rise by 20%-30%. On the other hand, the demand for new houses is strong, the number of new houses put into use and the houses sold is small, and the lack of loans for the construction industry has contributed to the increase in real estate prices to a large extent. According to news from real estate agencies, the price of new houses has risen by 20,000 to 50,000 tugrik per square metre per week.

During the epidemic, the US Internal Revenue Service reminded the public to beware of fraud related to the "covid virus tax relief".
According to the US Internal Revenue Service, 327,000 taxpayers reported to the Federal Trade Commission (FCC) of fraud in the first half of this year, and the economic losses caused by tax fraud were as high as US$500 million.
During the epidemic, tax frauds usually target economic impact payments and advance child tax credit payments.
Cai Ping, a spokesperson for the IRS in Chinese, said, “The IRS usually doesn’t use phone calls, emails, or social media to contact you. We use the U.S. Postal Service to write you a letter and it's mailed to your legal residential address."
The public can report fraud information to relevant departments.
Chinese spokesperson Cai Ping of the IRS said, "You can forward it to the IRS intact (scam emails). We have an email address that specifically accepts complaints in this regard: phishing@irs.gov. You need to file a complaint and report with the Ministry of Finance. They will record these cases through the U.S. Trade Commission, and then they will investigate."

Responding to the CCP’s push Tsai Ing-wen: Defend Taiwan at all costs
Reporter : Li Lan / https://www.ntdtv.com/gb/2021/10/05/a103235047.html / Image : Video Screenshot
Faced with the massive incursion of CCP military aircraft over the past few days, President Tsai Ing-wen of the Republic of China published an article on Tuesday (5th) stating that if democracy and way of life are threatened, Taiwan will defend itself at all costs.
On 5 October, President Tsai Ing-wen of the Republic of China published a special article entitled "Taiwan and the Fight for Democracy - A Force for Good in the Changing Democracy Order" in the latest issue of the US bimonthly magazine Foreign Affairs.
Tsai Ing-wen said that Taiwan's position on cross-strait relations is "consistent." That is: "Don't succumb to oppression, and don't advance if you get international support."
Tsai Ing-wen said, "Taiwan does not seek military confrontation. But if his democracy and way of life are threatened, Taiwan will defend itself at all costs."
During the daytime from 1 to 5 October, a total of 150 Chinese military aircraft invaded Taiwan's Southwest Air Defense Identification Zone. According to Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense, there will be 380 aircraft that disrupted Taiwan in 2020; and so far this year, more than 600 aircraft have been invaded.
Qiu Guozheng, Minister of Defense of the Republic of China, said, "This pressure (the Chinese Communist Party) is also a boost to us, urging us to prepare for war."
In addition to Taiwan’s Defense Minister Qiu Guozheng’s statement on the 5th, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense also submitted a procurement budget to the Legislative Yuan to increase naval and air combat capabilities, totaling NT$240 billion, of which 64% was used to manufacture anti-ship weapons. This is the special budget of the Taiwan authorities in addition to the 471.7 billion Taiwanese national defense budget in 2022.
Tsai Ing-wen said in a special article published in the "Foreign Affairs" magazine that Taiwan has taken a series of measures to maximize its defense capabilities and will not take the support of its security partners for granted. But she also reminded the international community that Taiwan is at the forefront of the struggle between the two ideologies of freedom, democracy and authoritarianism; at the same time, Taiwan is also at a key position on the first island chain, which is related to the stability of the entire Western Pacific and international trade. Taiwan’s continued prosperity contradicts Beijing’s propaganda and ambitions.
Tsai Ing-wen said, "If Taiwan falls, regional peace and the democratic alliance system will suffer catastrophic consequences."
Former US Director of National Intelligence Ratcliffe on 4 October 2021 said, “In this way, I think that if the CCP is committed to attacking Taiwan, then now may be the best time. They (the CCP authorities) combine things that have never been possible before kinds of factors."
The former US National Intelligence Director John Ratcliffe warned in an interview with FOX News that now is the most dangerous period for the Chinese Communist Party to invade Taiwan.

Leung Chun-ying three offshore companies exposed, the defense is invalid
For many Chinese friends, the most noteworthy content of the report is related to the powerful and powerful of the Chinese Communist Party. So, let's talk about this part of the content again.
Leung Chun-ying, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and former chief executive of Hong Kong, was accused of operating through an intermediary to register offshore companies for himself and his family members.
The news revealed that during his tenure as chief executive of Hong Kong, Leung Chun-ying had declared to hold equity in a subsidiary of DTZ, but refused to explain the name and business of this company many times.
The "Pandora Papers" confirmed from the documents for the first time that during his tenure, Leung Chun-ying, through two offshore companies, roundly held 30% of the shares of a DTZ Japan business company. The 30% stake was sold for 200,000 pounds in December 2015. At that time, Leung Chun-ying was the chief executive, and at the same time, the Independent Commission Against Corruption was investigating his signing of an agreement with UGL, an Australian listed company, to collect 4 million pounds.
Leung Chun-ying has never declared his holding of the company's equity, nor has he declared the "sale of equity" during his tenure as the chief executive. The public has no way of knowing that the relevant transaction was not made public until the report was made.
The leaked documents obtained by the International League of Investigative Journalists, including the communication emails, registration documents, and related offshore companies between a Hong Kong law firm representing Leung Chun-ying and the registered agent of offshore company "Hengtai Trust" from 2001 to 2017 Company’s director and shareholder records.

He personally holds 99.9% of Wintrack Worldwide, and Wintrack Worldwide, in turn, wholly holds Ace Link Property; Ace Link Property holds 30% of EuroAsia Properties.
In response, Leung Chun-yingissued a statement on Facebook at noon on 4 October, stating that the requirement of the reporting system is to declare the company’s equity that is “directly held”, and the “equity holdings” and “equity changes” of the subsi diaries at all levels below do not have to be. The report also stated that the report was a hype about his "declaration when he became the Chief Executive."
However, netizens did not buy into Leung Chun-ying's defense. Some netizens said that the "puppet ruler" of the CCP in Hong Kong is the mayor of Hong Kong whose skin was changed by the CCP. Since listening to the CCP's words, the CCP's Hong Kong mayor is destined for corruption. The Communist Party has always been this system. After joining the Communist Party, there is no reason for not being greedy. If you are not greedy and do not do bad things, first of all you are the targets of the Communist Party's persecution. Without the pigtail of corruption, why does the Communist Party trust you? In the final analysis, it's the same thing as the gangster's accusation.

Myanmar's civilian Finance Minister calls on public to voluntarily pay tax
Source : The Irrawaddy / https://www.irrawaddy.com/in-person/interview/164510.html / Image : Web Screenshot
The Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (Union Parliament) – the CRPH has approved its Union Taxation Law on 20 September 2021 and the civilian National Unity Government (NUG) has encouraged the public, especially businesses, to voluntarily pay taxes.
Commercial tax is suspended for the new fiscal year 2021-22 (until September 2022) and the personal income tax exemption is adjusted to help lower-income families.
On Sunday, the NUG’s ministry of planning, finance, and foreign investment said taxpayers at home and abroad can begin paying tax online through a self-assessment process.
If the junta falls, these taxpayers will be recognized for their civic responsibility and incentives of special tax relief will be considered, the ministry said.
The tax is exempt for those families whose income is lower than 1 million kyats (US$534) per month, while the threshold under which the previous tax law was collected was 400,000 kyats a month.
NUG projects aim to ease the tax burden on those facing hardships due to military rule, COVID-19 and soaring commodity prices, said U Tin Tun Naing, the NUG minister of planning, finance and foreign investment.
The minister said the NUG, as a legitimate, popular government, acts lawfully when generating revenue.
Besides tax revenues, the NUG plans to secure its own source of income by selling bonds and lottery tickets.
Myanmar Junta military has killed more than 1,100 civilians and detained more than 7,000 people since seizing power on 1 February 2021.
China warned that World War Three could be triggered "at any time" on Tuesday after it sent dozens of warplanes into Taiwan's airspace.
An article in the state-backed Global Times newspaper said that "collusion" between the US and Taiwan was so "audacious" that the situation 'has almost lost any room for manoeuvre, teetering on the edge of a face-off.'
It claimed that the people of China were ready to back all-out war with the US, which backs Taiwan, warning the island nation against "playing with fire".
Taiwan, a democracy which considers itself a sovereign state, urged China and president Xi Jinping to put a halt to "proactive actions" after nearly 150 Chinese warplanes breached Taiwan's airspace since Friday, including 56 jets on Monday in a dramatic increase in aggression.
Taiwanese president Tsai Ing-wen on Tuesday vowed to "do whatever it takes" to guard Taiwan against invasion as she indicated that without help from the country's allies 'authoritarianism has the upper hand over democracy.'
Meanwhile, Britain's HMS Queen Elizabeth was shown in pictures sailing in the Philippine Sea in a joint exercise with two US aircraft carriers - the USS Ronald Reagan and USS Carl Vinson - and Japan's helicopter destroyer JS Ise.
The armada, which also includes a number of warships from six different countries in total, trained together over the weekend in the region amid the rising tensions.
The recent voyages through the Strait of Taiwan by the British and American navies, coupled with the new Aukus defence pact have infuriated Beijing and sparked more shows of strength in the South China Sea.

Two antibody therapies granted interim authorization in Singapore to treat covid
Two antibody therapies have been recently granted interim authorization under the Pandemic Special Access Route by the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) to treat those with mild to moderate COVID-19.
"One of the antibodies we have started to use is a drug called sotrovimab, and casirivimab-imdevimab is another one which will come into clinical use soon in Singapore," said Dr Shawn Vasoo, clinical director at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).
Casirivimab-imdevimab, made by Roche-Regeneron, was given interim authorization on 21 September 2021.
"This will allow infectious diseases specialists to use the combination monoclonal antibodies therapy for the treatment of COVID-19 patients aged 18 years and older, who do not require oxygen supplementation and are at risk for progression to severe COVID‐19," said HSA.
