On 10 October 2021, the 110th National Day of the Republic of China, Cai Xia, the former party school professor of the Communist Party of China,  who was also a well-known second-generation Red, tweeted her congratulations, "Today's Taiwan is a role model for the mainland, and many people in the Communist Party of China long to be like Taiwan". She especially pointed out the practices of leaders on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, emphasizing that "Tsai Ing-wen’s four persistence are to defend the future and destiny of the people of Taiwan."

Cai Xia pointed out in the article, "N years ago, a CCP official asked me, "Why can't there be a Gorbachev in the party? Is there someone like Chiang Ching-kuo in the party?""

Cai Xia compared the practices and conversations between the Chinese Communist leader Xi Jinping and the President of the Republic of China Tsai Ing-wen. She pointed out that "Xi, while fiercely circumventing Taiwan by military planes to intimidate Taiwan by force, while calling out "reunification", he wanted to annex Taiwan with communist totalitarian power and trap Taiwan compatriots in totalitarian slavery. Tsai Ing-wen’s four persistence are to defend the future and destiny of the people of Taiwan."

"Adhere to the non-subordination of ROC and PRC to each other" Tsai: Review of local systems, land planning and governance

Cross-strait relations reiterate the "maintaining status quo" stance

Tsai Ing-wen delivered a speech titled "Consensus Disagreement, Unite to Defend Taiwan", stating that in terms of cross-strait relations, our goodwill and commitment remain unchanged. Maintaining the status quo is our proposition, and we will try our best to prevent the status quo from being changed unilaterally. To resolve differences between the two sides of the strait, we must conduct equal dialogue. We hope that cross-strait relations will ease, and we will not advance, but we must never think that the people of Taiwan will succumb under pressure.

Call on all political parties to unite and agree to each other's four persistence

Tsai Ing-wen pointed out that 72 years have passed since the Republic of China established its foothold in Taiwan in 1949. In the past 72 years, the appearance of the country has changed a lot, but there is also a constant persistence, which is to "ensure sovereignty and defend the country."

Tsai Ing-wen also shouted to various political parties that party politics must be competitive, but when issues involve the dignity of the country and the future of the people, we must unite. We must agree to each other to always adhere to a free and democratic constitutional system; insist that the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China are not subordinate to each other; insist that sovereignty cannot be violated and annexed; and uphold the future of Taiwan, the Republic of China must follow the will of all Taiwanese people. These four persistence are the bottom line given to us by the people of Taiwan, and they are also our greatest common divisor.

She wants to introduce social forces during her tenure in the next few years to jointly seek solutions to these issues.

The "Four Persistence" new agreement means that the Republic of China and Taiwan are one country have the same fate!

Image : Taiwanese celebrating National Day under the name Team Taiwan on 10 October

On 10.10 celebration, President Tsai Ing-wen put forward the new "Four Persistence" agreement, which is to jointly protect Taiwan and fight against the brutal, rape and annexation of "One China"! The new "Four Persistence" agreement is that Taiwan, the Republic of China, not only has the same fate on the same island, but also has the same fate for the same country!

At the Double Ten celebration ceremony, in front of the three opposition party chairmen, President Tsai proposed the new "Four Persistence" agreement that she hopes everyone will abide by, including adhering to a free and democratic constitutional system, and adhering to the Republic of China and the Taiwanese. The Republic of China and the People's Republic of China are not subordinates to each other. Insist that sovereignty should not be invaded and swallowed and insist on the future of Taiwan, the Republic of China, must follow the will of all Taiwanese people.

The "Four Persistence" agreement is actually based on the narrative of the status quo and facts of Taiwan, the Republic of China, as a sovereign and independent country. As Tsai Ing-wen emphasized, "These four persistence are the bottom line given to us by the people of Taiwan."

The following checks one by one:

The first agreement: adhere to a free and democratic constitutional system. The "92 Consensus, One China" is the killer of a liberal democratic constitutional system. Under one China, the CCP’s one-party dictatorship cannot tolerate any liberal democratic constitutional system. The so-called one country, two systems can be understood only by looking at the tragedy of the Hong Kong democrats. The high-vote elected members were all DQ (deregistration of qualifications) by the CCP and the Hong Kong Communist Party, and even the roots were removed. The qualifications for election were also DQ, and a large number of democrats were imprisoned under the tyranny of the National Security Law. Therefore, if the political parties do not agree to adhere to, but instead accept the 1992 and First High School, you are going to kill Taiwan's free and democratic constitutional government system; if they adhere to the stipulations of the free and democratic constitutional government, they cannot accept the 1992 and First High School!

The second agreement: Insist that the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China are not subject to each other. The Republic of China is a sovereign and independent country, and the People’s Republic of China is another sovereign and independent country. Of course, the two different sovereign countries are not affiliated with each other, otherwise one of them would not be a sovereign independent country. If a political party advocates accepting one China, then it does not accept the agreement that the Republic of China and the People’s Republic of China are not subordinate to each other. What it advocates is that the People’s Republic of China can eliminate the Republic of China in the future.

The third agreement: Upholding that sovereignty should not be violated and swallowed. The territory, people, and national dignity of a sovereign and independent country cannot be invaded and swallowed by another country. Otherwise, this so-called country is not a sovereign country. This agreement is to defend the Republic of China. National style, those who refuse to accept this agreement are not worthy to defend the Republic of China. They are only worthy to kneel and lick the communist party, and masturbate in the Chinese dream and shout cool!

The fourth agreement: To uphold the future of Taiwan, the Republic of China, we must follow the will of all Taiwanese people. The formation of the general will of the nation must follow the procedures of liberal democracy and constitutional government. It cannot be led by the CCP’s ears, noses and necks, and follow the road map of violent annexation and unification that it has set. The family and so on, all stretched out their ears, nose and neck to let the CCP put on a noose, and the end was "ultimate unity."

Regarding the four persistence new agreement and observing the movements of the three major opposition parties, most of what the Chinese Kuomintang did was violated the agreement. The most blue government, media, and academics even hated them inexplicably because of their loss of privileges. Taiwan would rather go to kneel and lick the CCP and pull Taiwan’s hind legs. It is almost impossible for it to comply with the agreement, because the Chinese Kuomintang is extremely afraid of offending the CCP; the People’s Party is grabbing the territory of the Chinese Kuomintang’s pro-Taiwan faction. Pro-China is still the main axis, so the four new agreements to insist on are just a few words perfunctory, and after dealing with things, they will not agree to the four insisting on the new agreements. The power of the times has yet to be actualized to verify its attitude and strength.

Tsai Ing-wen’s National Day speech contrasts Deng Xiaoping’s "Four Persistence". Wang Hao: Taiwan and China are one country on one side!

On her National Day speech at the Presidential Palace in the morning of 10 October, President Tsai Ing-wen proposed "Four Persistence" to express her determination to defend national sovereignty. In this regard, the writer and political scholar Wang Hao compared the "four persistence" that the former Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping once said, and bluntly stated that "Taiwan and China are really "one country on each side"!"

Wang Hao posted on Facebook this afternoon that Tsai Ing-wen put forward the "Four Persistence" in her National Day speech today, namely, "Persist on a free and democratic constitutional system", "Persist on the non-subordination of the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China", and "Persist on Sovereignty cannot be violated and swallowed" and "upholding the future of Taiwan, the Republic of China, must follow the will of the people of Taiwan", strongly expressing the vision of putting the people first and not fearing the CCP’s oppression.

Compare Deng Xiaoping’s "Four Persistence" to the Chinese people. "Persist on the socialist road", "Persist on the dictatorship of the proletariat", "Persist on the leadership of the Communist Party of China", and "Persist on Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought". Hegemony that prioritizes the party. Wang Hao could not help but bluntly said that from the "Four Persistence" put forward by the above two people, it can be seen that "Taiwan and China are really "one country on each side", and they are not affiliated with each other!"

Wang Dingyu: CCP and the Chinese people deciding the future of Taiwan and China is "absurd"

Image : DPP legislator Wang Dingyu. (Provided by Wang Dingyu Office)

In her National Day speech on 10 October 2021, the Republic of China President Tsai Ing-wen mentioned the four major perseverances to defend Taiwan, including "upholding the non-subordination of the Republic of China and the People’s Republic of China." In response, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Communist Party of China responded that "Taiwan's future is determined by all Chinese people." DPP legislator Wang Dingyu criticized this as "absurd in absurdity" and whether "the head shell is broken?" He also pointed out that the Chinese people can't even decide the future of their own country, let alone control the neighboring country Taiwan.

Wang Dingyu said that the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council requires that China’s 1.4 billion people and Taiwan’s 23 million people jointly determine Taiwan’s future. This is simply "absurd in absurdity." Absurd one, take the daily life in Taiwan as an example. If you have a house yourself, how to decorate and what color to paint, someone wants you to decide together with the 70 residents of the building next door, would you say he "Is the head shell broken?".

Wang Dingyu pointed out that the second absurdity is that China’s 1.4 billion people cannot even decide the future of the People's Republic of China. Even if it comes to Taiwan, there is a municipal party secretary in China. The Chinese people not make decisions. For China, 1.4 billion people make decisions together. It means that the CCP and Xi Jinping alone make all the decisions. Unlike Taiwan, where every public office is elected by one vote, one vote of the people, from the local to the president. In China, even its own people cannot control the future of the country, let alone the future of its neighbouring country Taiwan.

Wang Dingyu said that the third absurdity is that when countries around the world are supporting Taiwan and demanding respect for the decision-making power of Taiwan’s 23 million people, probably only the CCP and his vassals will advocate a joint decision with China. And jointly decided with China, whether it is to advocate one China, belong to the same China, or the 1992 consensus, it is to advance Taiwan, let the CCP and Xi Jinping alone determine the future of Taiwan's 23 million people and future generations.

Wang Dingyu said that in the third absurdity, we saw that the Chinese Kuomintang in Taiwan and Ma Ying-jeou, who was once the president, actually advocated that Taiwan and China jointly decide the future. "I don't know if this is bad or stupid?"; In Ma Ying-jeou's case, his entire family almost took American citizenship, but he asked the people of Taiwan and the descendants of Taiwan people to leave it to the CCP to decide in the future, "If this is not bad, then what is bad?"

Wang Dingyu emphasized that the Taiwanese people will not accept such propositions of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, and those who vassalize their claims in Taiwan will eventually be eliminated in the tide of democracy in Taiwan.

Xi Jinping said that if you forget your ancestors, you will be spurned by the people. Wang Dingyu: Xi is slapping CCP

On 9 October, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping, stated at the "Conference of the 110th Anniversary of the Revolution of 1911" that "Anyone who has forgotten their ancestors, betrayed the motherland, or split the country will never end well and will be spurned by the people during the trial of history." In response, DPP legislator Wang Dingyu stated that the CCP introduced Marxism-Leninism and created the Soviets, regardless of whether it is weapons, funds, or orders from foreign countries. What Xi Jinping said just hit the CCP itself.

Wang Dingyu pointed out that the eight poles of the Revolution of 1911 have nothing to do with the Communist Party of China, "If we were to commemorate the Revolution of 1911, Sun Yat-sen at that time, the so-called "Zhongshan", was the pseudonym "Zhongshan Qiao" in Japan. He raised funds overseas, regardless of whether it was overseas Chinese. Or the assistance of foreign governments, so when Xi Jinping was scolding for introducing foreign forces but he was commemorating Sun Yat-sen, he was full of contradictions."

Wang Dingyu said that what Xi Jinping said about colluding with foreign countries and forgetting one's ancestors in numbers just hit the Chinese Communist Party itself. The CCP introduced Marxism-Leninism, which was derived from the Soviet Union or the West in Europe. This is called forgetting the ancestors in numbers. Yes, accepting the orders of the Communist International, whether weapons, funds, or orders come from foreign countries, it is an out-and-out betrayal of the motherland, division of the country, and introduction of foreign forces. Therefore, according to Xi Jinping's statement, he is right. The regime will eventually be cast aside by the people.

Scholars: The theory of non-subordination to each other implies the theory of two states

President Tsai Ing-wen mentioned the "four persistences" in her 10.10 National Day speech emphasizing "upholding the non-subordination of the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China." Scholars analyzed that President Tsai's cross-strait talks emphasized the equality of national sovereignty and clearly told Xi Jinping that "the Republic of China has not been replaced by the People's Republic of China."

Chen Shimin, an associate professor of the Department of Political Science at National Taiwan University, said in an interview that President Tsai used the words "Republic of China" and "People's Republic of China" to be non-subordination to each other, representing that national sovereignty is equal. He also denied that the past Chinese leader Hu Jintao defined cross-strait relations as 1949 the unresolved issues of the Kuomintang and Communist Civil War. Chen Shimin pointed out that according to the DPP’s resolution on the future of Taiwan, Taiwan is a sovereign and independent country. It is called the Republic of China under the constitutional name. Its territory is limited to Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu. That is the meaning of President Tsai’s statement.

Hong Jingfu, a professor in the Department of Political Science at National Cheng Kung University, said that President Tsai’s speech was "soft but hard", emphasizing that the future of Taiwan in the Republic of China must be determined by all Taiwanese people. At the same time, she also told China that in the next two years it will not become a party to destroy the status quo, conveying to the United States that Taiwan will be a staunch guardian of democracy.

Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council: Both belong to the same China and cannot be changed

Regarding the "four persistences" mentioned by President Tsai, Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the People’s Republic of China, claimed yesterday that the fact that the mainland and Taiwan belong to the same China has never changed and cannot be changed. China is willing to resolve the two sides of the strait on the basis of the one-China principle. Differences: Upholding the 1992 consensus and opposing Taiwan independence is the common political basis for cross-strait relations.

The Mainland Affairs Council stated that President Tsai’s National Day remarks showed them the firm stand that Taiwan will never accept the cross-strait development path set by the Beijing authorities. The Republic of China is a sovereign and independent country, and there is no affiliation between the two sides of the strait. The Beijing authorities should face the "four insistences" put forward by President Tsai in a pragmatic manner.

Zhu Lilun: Remind President Tsai that "doing is more important than saying"

Kuomintang Chairman Zhu Lilun, who was invited to participate in the National Day Convention, said after the convention that he wanted to remind President Tsai that "doing is more important than saying." Zhu said that the Republic of China is a sovereign and independent country, and promoting cross-strait exchanges is the common goal, but he wants to call on the Democratic Progressive Party not to unilaterally change the history of the Republic of China. Zhu even stated, "The Chinese Kuomintang created the Republic of China, loves and defends the Republic of China the most."

The Taipei City Government also held a National Day flag-raising ceremony in the morning of 10 October. Mayor Ke Wenzhe agreed that President Tsai Ing-wen’s National Day speech emphasized "defending Taiwan," but whether it affects cross-strait relations is "seeing it." However, after Ke attended the celebration ceremony at the presidential palace, he criticized the DPP on Facebook for "manipulating the people's anti-China sentiment and detaining the Red Hat."

Tsai proposes reforms, appeals to the ruling party and the public to let go of their prejudices and seek intersection

The Legislative Yuan launched the constitutional reform project during this session. President Tsai Ing-wen said in his speech on the October 10th National Day that the reform of the constitutional system is something that must be faced and called on the ruling and opposition parties to let go of their prejudices. Seek the greatest intersection. Ke Jianming, the chief of the DPP caucus of the Legislative Yuan, said yesterday that the current session is the budget session. Under the boycott of the KMT, the general budget has not yet been paid. There is also a case for the personnel consent of the Central Election Council to be processed. The committee is expected to be officially launched next month.

The Legislative Yuan Constitutional Amendment Committee is expected to start next month
The DPP set up a constitutional reform group in March to discuss and form the party’s constitutional amendment proposal. The three group meetings have now been discussed. If it goes well, the party version of the constitutional amendment will be sent to the DPP Central Executive Committee for approval in late October, and then it will be handed over to the Legislative Yuan DPP Caucus for processing.

The DPP constitutional reform group discussed the consensus part, including abolition of the Examination Institute and the Supervisory Institute, and the return to the separation of powers; revision of the constitutional revision threshold; revision of the right to vote and the right to be elected until the age of eighteen; "human rights clauses" constitutional orientation towards the United Nations Correction of the direction of human rights norms, etc.

Tsai Ing-wen pointed out in her National Day speech that the reform of the constitutional government system is a matter that must be faced. This constitutional reform will be based on the constitution of the Republic of China and will be carried out on the premise of safeguarding a democratic and free constitutional system. She wants to call on the ruling and opposition parties that constitutional reform issues are critical to national governance. Whether in power or opposition, they must put aside their prejudices, seriously discuss constitutional issues, and seek the greatest intersection.

Ke Jianming said that the Legislative Yuan currently has 57 constitutional amendment proposals. Because the constitutional amendment proposal must be announced for half a year and three months later to vote, a total of nine months, based on next year’s nine-in-one election time, the constitutional amendment proposal is not too late to be voted by the Council before March next year. There is no consensus on many things. It is difficult to pass the constitutional amendment threshold. Even if it is 18-year-old citizenship, there is a referendum that requires more than 9 million votes, which is higher than the number of votes for President Tsai. The parties must have a high degree of consensus to call for votes.

Fei Hongtai, the chief of the Nationalist Caucus of the Legislative Yuan, said that President Tsai only talked about "constitutional reforms" and it was very empty. Let go of your arrogance and talk to the opposition party.

Chen Yuzhen, secretary of the Kuomintang regiment, said that the constitution of the Republic of China is now a constitution and has the spirit of national unity. She must ask President Tsai whether she wants to amend it.

Who will recognize Medigen next? Expert: International recognition is just around the corner

Image : On internationally recognized Medigen vaccines, experts said that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the World Health Organization's approval are just around the corner. (Data photo, photo by reporter Liao Yaodong)

Many people in Taiwan are unwilling to be vaccinated with Medigen's MVC COVID-19 Vaccine (MVC-COV1901), fearing that if they do so they will affect their entry permits to other countries. However, from mid-September to early October, Medigen has continued to spread "good news". MVC-COV1901 has been successively recognized by Indonesia, New Zealand, Israel, Palau and other countries. It is also in the favourable lists of European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Toxicologist Zhao Mingwei believes that Medigen international recognition is just around the corner.

Following the Medigen-vaccinated Taiwanese blogger Yoami, after her fan post stated that she successfully entered Israel, the Prime Minister of Palau also announced that Medigen-vaccinated Taiwanese travelers can enter Palau with proof of two full doses of Medigen.

Zhao Mingwei posted a post on Facebook fan page "Professor Zhao Mingwei, William of Toxicology" and pointed out that in order to relax the efficacy check standards set by the existing "other brand" vaccines in the world, EMA accepted Medigen immunization bridges in mid-September. The method replaces the third phase of the trial as the audit standard. It is currently in progress. Once the results come out, it is estimated that there will be no more Medigen vaccinators who cannot go to Europe.

He further pointed out that the WHO also included Medigen in the vaccine candidate list in September, which means that the WHO will directly subsidize and assist in the clinical trials of more than 40,000 people involved in the Medigen Phase III trial in Colombia. If there are any positive results, there will be no saying that "Medigen vaccinators cannot go abroad."

Zhao Mingwei said that along the way, everyone has worked very hard, holding beliefs and supporting domestic vaccines. It is not easy! He believes that it is difficult for Taiwan's biotechnology to take a path internationally. He also asks those "owners" to understand the reality and development, and do not always slander the Republic of China's vaccines. It is neither fair nor ethical.

Analyzing the US reaction to Tsai Ing-wen’s discourse on both sides of the strait, Huang Weihan: How will the opposition party win in 2024?

Image : Huang Weihan analyzed Tsai Ing-wen’s National Day speech and bluntly stated that the president’s remarks are the mainstream opinion of more than half of the people in Taiwan. (Data photo)

President Tsai Ing-wen delivered a speech at the National Day ceremony on 10 October, proposing Taiwan’s "four persistence", which aroused heated discussions from all walks of life. In this regard, veteran media person Huang Weihan on 11 October believes that Tsai Ing-wen’s discourse has broken the vague space in the discussion of "One China" between the two sides of the strait in the past 30 years. It is not "Taiwan independence" but "China independence". At the same time, he also analyzed the U.S. attitude and stance towards Tsai Ing-wen’s speech on the National Day, saying bluntly, "Can’t see how the opposition party (referring to the KMT) in 2024 will win?"

Huang Weihan posted via Facebook on 11 October, "President Tsai Ing-wen made yesterday the "most important" National Day speech since she took office. Because she personally said, "Insist on the non-subordination of the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China"! Fist breaks the ambiguity in the discussion of "one China" between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait in the past three decades. There is no "one China, each table". There are "two Chinas", the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China."

In response to Tsai Ing-wen’s statement yesterday that “no adventurousness, no submission, no unification”, Huang Weihan explained, “Because China has set a unified path, there will be no democratic and free lifestyles in Taiwan, and there will be no 23 million people in Taiwan. Therefore, the president’s choice is “no reunification.” Regardless of military reunification, peace reunification, and reunification, all are not. Because reunification means losing the way Taiwanese people live. This demand is strong and powerful. More than half of the people in Taiwan should all support it."

Huang Weihan went on to analyze, "President Tsai actually subtly inherited the former President Ma’s "no reunification, no independence, no military". Although the results may be different (one final ultimate reunification, one last two countries), the direction of implementation is the same! The president "does not want reunification", "does not want military", "does not want independence", she is not "Taiwan independence" at all, she is for "China independence". She puts the independence of the "Republic of China" on the stage, and fights against the People's Republic of China.  This argument insists that the Republic of China is a sovereign and independent country. In Taiwan, are there many opponents? Or are there many supporters? The answer is obvious."

Huang Weihan said bluntly, "The Kuomintang has never discovered that President Tsai has gradually taken the totem of "Republic of China" into her own for the past five years. When the Blue camp was still struggling, why the English version of the National Day logo only read "Taiwan National Day" (in fact, the Chinese poster clearly stated that the National Day of the Republic of China was celebrated, and the national flag was still hung). At President Tsai’s National Day Convention, there were already blue sky and white sun all over the ground with red flags fluttering everywhere to cooperate. Anti-epidemic heroes, aboriginal singing, Olympic jeep celebrations and other elements, President Tsai pleases, it is the mainstream public opinion of more than half of the Taiwan people. If the Kuomintang does not observe it, it will come out to criticize President Tsai? Then it will become: "Only The Communist Party and the Kuomintang are scolding President Tsai and criticizing Taiwan’s impression that in the subsequent elections, only points will be lost, not points will be scored."

In the end, Huang Weihan said, "Of course, abandoning the fuzzy space between the two sides of the strait and one China, the worst price may be the war between the two sides of the strait. But have you noticed? Such a sensitive argument, the United States did not say anything. The United States is very likely to have known it for a long time. President Tsai’s sensitive remarks and even support such remarks (if not, there must be countermeasures in the next week). This is a "bottom line test" of mainland China, and at the same time it incorporates the majority of Taiwan’s public opinion and forces the Kuomintang to discuss cross-strait discussions and choose sides. Compared with former President Lee Teng-hui’s "two-state theory," President Tsai has made bolder moves, more delicate techniques, and more supportive young people. I really can’t see how the opposition party can win in 2024?"

Watch Tsai Ing-wen's National Day speech... US media analysis: Taiwan is more pro-American, Beijing is worried

President Tsai Ing-wen in her National Day speech called on China to play a positive role in the region and not to create conflicts. The Wall Street Journal of the United States believes that Tsai's remarks may cause Beijing to worry that Washington will strengthen its support for Taiwan. The Voice of America also analyzed that Tsai Ing-wen's overall deployment is more pro-American.

The Wall Street Journal believes that although Tsai Ing-wen's National Day talk is cautious, in fact the speech is full of "indirect criticism" of China. The report believes that repeated emphasis on the value of Taiwan’s democracy in the conversation is likely to make Beijing worry that the United States will strengthen its support for Taiwan’s resistance to reunification.

"Voice of America" reported that Wang Weizheng, a political science professor at Ithaca College in the United States who studies cross-strait relations, analyzed that Tsai Ing-wen's mention of Beijing's suppression of Taiwan shows that the Tsai government will take policy in China before leaving office. It will be more conservative in terms of management, and will not focus on the 1992 consensus, and at the same time will be more "pro-American" in its strategic deployment.

Wang Weizheng also mentioned that Tsai Ing-wen’s remarks echoed the speech made by US Vice President Pence but in fact, the deceased former Congressman Henry Hyde has long proposed that Taiwan’s democratic survival is in the United States’ strategic interests. Now Pence mentionsthis argument again, and more and more American policy elites share this view.

He believes that "more and more policy elites will realize that the continued existence of Taiwan, and its continued existence in a democratic manner, is not only for the benefit of all Chinese people, but also in line with the strategic interests of the United States."

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence recently delivered a major speech to China. The US State Department also quoted Pence’s speech, emphasizing Taiwan’s embrace of democracy, and showing this to all Chinese a better way.

According to the "Central News Agency" report, the U.S. State Department quoted Pence's remarks as saying that the U.S. will continue to abide by the One-China Policy, the U.S.-China Three Communiqués, and its responsibilities based on the Taiwan Relations Act.

The U.S. State Department also emphasized that the U.S. One-China policy and the Taiwan Relations Act have helped to ensure peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the region for decades. This has enabled the U.S. to maintain a solid and informal relationship with Taiwan while establishing constructive relations with China.

The spokesperson of the U.S. State Department also quoted Pence's recent public speech and pointed out that the United States will "always believe that Taiwan's embrace of democracy has shown a better path for all Chinese."

However, the spokesperson did not mention the part of Pence criticizing China. Pence choked with anger at the time. China seized Taiwan's three Central American diplomatic countries. This move threatened the stability of the Taiwan Strait. The United States condemned this. He also warned China that no matter what method it uses to attack the United States and its allies, "they (the CCP) will all fail."

President Tsai Ing-wen delivered a speech on the theme "Democratic Taiwan, Illuminates the World" at the National Day Convention in front of the Presidential Palace yesterday, emphasizing that Taiwan's response to the dramatic changes in the international political and economic situation is "Seek stability, adaptability, and progress." The President also put forward the "four wills" to call for domestic unity, stressing that we will not rashly raise confrontation, nor succumb to concessions; we will not move into conflict and confrontation due to momentary indignation, and will not put cross-strait relations into danger; we will not deviate from public opinion and sacrifice Taiwan's sovereignty.

The President pointed out that during this period of time, China's unilateral cultural attacks and military intimidation and diplomatic suppression have not only harmed cross-strait relations, but also seriously challenged the status quo of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. The President called on China, a responsible power, to play a virtuous role in the region and the world, not a source of conflict.

The beacon of democracy illuminates the world

In the face of repression, President Tsai pointed out that some people want the government to take a more confrontational stance, while others believe that it should give in and compromise but the more drastic changes, the more stable Taiwan must be, and the pressure will be resolved calmly to find a niche for survival. This is her consistent persistence for more than two years. Maintain the free and democratic way of life of the 23 million people, safeguard the sustainable development of the Republic of China, and maintain peace and regional stability across the Taiwan Strait are the greatest common denominators for all Taiwanese people. Every responsible political figure and political party should persist in defending the Republic of China to the end!

The President said that amidst the changes, the situation must not be underestimated. Intensifying conflicts or compromising and surrendering will only help the enemy.

The President emphasized that the most important task at present is to strengthen national security, strengthen economic strength, strengthen social safety nets, continuously "strengthen Taiwan", build strength, and enhance Taiwan's irreplaceability in the international arena. This is Taiwan's sustainability and niche for survival. "Taiwan is a beacon." When the world sees the beauty of Taiwan, Taiwan will not be alone.
