"Genghis Khan" Graphic Novel: A secret history we didn't expect

The graphic novel "Genghis Khan" is a high-quality graphic work of the literary work "The Secret History of Mongolia", comparable to the ancient Greek works "Iliad" and "Odyssey" and the medieval classic "Roland Song". "Genghis Khan" graphic novel depicting the legendary life of the founder of the Mongolian Empire with more than 1,300 pictures

Genghis Khan is a great man who is familiar to the Mongols but not fully understood. At present, people have different opinions on Genghis Khan internationally, with mixed reviews. Later, the matter changed a lot. It is reported that in 2000, an international authoritative organization promoted him as a "thousand-year historical figure." There are many interesting stories about Genghis Khan in Mongolian folks, but many historical mysteries still exist for more than 800 years. Mongolian artists spent more than ten years exploring the true evidence related to Genghis Khan, and vividly depicted Genghis Khan's legendary life to readers with more than a thousand pictures. The "Genghis Khan" graphic novel project was initiated and implemented by Yiremu Animation Co., Ltd., and it is planned to be promoted at this year's Beijing International Book Fair.

The graphic novel of "Genghis Khan" is based on "The Secret History of Mongolia". Relevant historical experts compare "The Secret History of Mongolia" with the ancient Greek works "Iliad" and "Odyssey", and is regarded as an important work of medieval literature comparable to classic works such as "Roland's Song". So far, "The Secret History of Mongolia" has been translated into more than 30 languages including Chinese, Russian, English, French, and German.

Looking at the world map, it is an undeniable fact that in the 12-14 centuries, the citizens of more than 20 Asian and European countries with different cultural expressions, religions, values, languages, and cultures joined hands to create a great civilization of mankind. Therefore, some historical experts believe that the active political, economic, cultural, educational, scientific, and religious exchanges between Asia and Europe played an important role in the development of the Middle Ages and created unimaginable peace in the once war-ridden earth. At first, the expansion of Mongolian nomads was as fierce as a storm. Later, Mongolian princes and aristocrats treated citizens kindly and gave them many of the precious "wealth" of today's mankind-rights through the law, which had a positive impact on national unity. Indeed, most historians confirm that today's diplomacy, regulations, economic and trade policies, overall politics, respect for religious and cultural differences, postal communications, and many other things originated in the era of Genghis Khan.

The writers expect readers to learn about Genghis Khan’s life story from the graphic novels they created and to make new discoveries from it. The content of "The Secret History of Mongolia" is very long, and it is not easy to read it in its entirety. However, the graphic novel "Genghis Khan" fully depicts all the stories in the original twelve chapters. In other words, readers can "read" the above-mentioned works in the form of pictures.

"Genghis Khan" graphic novel project initiator and publisher Ann Deleger Zarigler said, "Reading medieval novels is not easy. Therefore, in order to let people fully understand this history with a graphic version, we started from 2006 We started to create in 1991. We attach great importance to ensuring the authentic historical pictures and have conducted a lot of research for many years. For example, we have tried to completely restore the clothing, weapons, technology and geographical features of the place where the incident occurred more than 800 years ago. In addition, we have also extensively studied and sought With perfect artistic expression, the work has its current condition. Now it is proud to say that our work is authentic and reliable, without distortion of history, and was created at a very high artistic level. We brought this work to Beijing International Book Fair."

She also said, “I believe that if people see the project’s promotional video, they will find that the "Genghis Khan" graphic novel is not only a publication, but also a project with development potential. Specifically, it can be made into valuable souvenirs and flow into the market. In addition, it is also expected to produce various entertainment and media programs based on the project."

The graphic novel of "Genghis Khan" provides readers with an opportunity to learn about the legendary life of Genghis Khan, who is both a great historical man and an ordinary Mongolian in the form of pictures. On the other hand, I believe that the project will also bring many benefits to entrepreneurs.

Interested parties can learn more about the graphic novel of "Genghis Khan" through www.irmuun.net.

The foundation stone laying ceremony of the Longcheng Research Information Center in the Hunnu period was held

According to a report from the Ministry of Education and Science, the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Dragon City Research Information Center, the center of the Hunnu rule discovered by Dr. Te Idelhangai, an associate professor of Ulaanbaatar University, was held recently.

The Longcheng site was discovered in Elzite County, Houhanggai Province. The Minister of Education and Science Lu Enkh Amugeleng participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Central Asian History and Culture Research Information Center by relying on the site during his investigation in Houhanggai Province. The Longcheng site was first discovered in a map program.

In July 2019, a wadang with Chinese characters was discovered from the scene. Scholars who knew ancient Chinese characters interpreted the inscription as "Shan Yu", so they thought that they should be digging in depth immediately. The city has a history of more than 2,000 years, so it is deeply "buried" and can only be discovered by viewing it from the air with a drone. Mongolian archaeologists believe that the reason why the Dragon City has not been found before is that the high wall has not been observed. The discovery of the Longcheng site is a major event in the history of science.

After a systematic excavation of the Longcheng site, it was discovered that there was a luxurious pool in the Hunnu Palace. Dr. Te Idelhangai believes that this is enough to refute the claim that the "Huns are rude" reached by some scholars. Many archaeologists of the past, such as He Peril, Ge Sukhbaatar, and Tse Handa Surong, speculated that Longcheng, the center of Hunnu rule, is located in the Hanggai Mountains. According to this speculation, Dr. Te Idelhangai and his students continue to conduct research based on the ancient city walls of the Hunnu period.

Dr. Te Idelhangai: The location of the Dragon City ruins is far from the main road and in a depression, so it is difficult to notice. With the gradual deepening of the archaeological excavations, the experts were surprised to find the wadang with the Chinese character "Tianzi Shanyu" written on it. Combined with various discoveries, it shows that it is a city of upper class nobles. Most of the tiles were damaged, and only a few intact ones were found.

Minister of Education and Science Lu Enhea Mugeleng: It is very important to repair the problem of unearthed cultural relics. So far, no wooden objects have been found. Dr. Te Idelhangai said that a large number of Wadang fragments were found and could be repaired in Mongolia. Although human resources in the repair of wood, clay, and metal products have improved, there is a lack of professional laboratories compared with foreign countries. Therefore, chronology and genetic research are carried out in large foreign laboratories. In order to realize this kind of research in Mongolia, we will make every effort to develop the field of science and also believe that the perspective of introducing Mongolian history to the world will be changed.

The covid pandemic has been raging for nearly two years, and how to effectively improve the energy of epidemic prevention has become the priority of the policies of various countries. Major General Hong Yiren, director of the Institute of Preventive Medicine of the National Defense Medical College of the Ministry of National Defense, said today that only the National Defense Medical College has a 30-year-old "P4" (level 4, the highest level of biosafety) laboratory, considering the continuous evolution of biological protection regulations. To meet the demand, the Ministry of National Defence are planning to build a new P4 protection laboratory to combat emerging infectious diseases and serve as a backing for epidemic prevention.

Hong Yiren said that in response to the covid outbreak, the Ministry of Science and Technology invested NT$185 million in the establishment of the "Epidemic Prevention Scientific Research Center" in June last year. The National Defense Medical College was one of the five universities selected to participate. At the beginning of the outbreak last year, the virus was not well understood. The virus was isolated in the P4 laboratory as soon as possible, and virus culture, identification and analysis were performed in the P3 laboratory, where the drugs were verified in animal mode. For vaccine effectiveness; clinical specimens are tested in the precision detection laboratory of the P2 laboratory.

Hong Yiren said that the existing P4 laboratory was built about 30 years ago but due to the continuous improvement of safety regulations, it is no longer in compliance with the current regulations, so it is planned to build a new P4 laboratory. He said that he hopes that the new laboratory can meet the most stringent international standards and become a leading indicator facility in the Asia-Pacific region against emerging and recurring infectious diseases.

New hope for stroke patients? New study: "Injecting algae" allows tadpoles to live without oxygen

Image : The latest experiment by scientists from the University of Munich (LMU) in Germany found that injecting green algae into the heart of tadpoles so that the blood transports the green algae to the tadpole’s brain. The tadpoles can survive even when exposed to light without oxygen. The research team hopes that this study, It can provide a new direction for diseases caused by hypoxia, such as stroke, mountain sickness, and diver's disease. (AFP file photo)

The latest experiment of scientists from the University of Munich (LMU) in Germany found that by injecting green algae into the heart of tadpoles, the green algae is transported to the brain through the blood circulation, and it was found that tadpoles can survive light exposure without oxygen supply; The research team hopes that this research can provide new treatment directions for diseases caused by hypoxia, such as stroke, mountain sickness, and diver's disease. This research was published in iScience.

According to comprehensive foreign media reports, the scientific team of the University of Munich in Germany used tadpoles that had grown forelimbs and cut off the oxygen supply of the tadpoles, and then mixed the slurry of green algae (Chlamydomonas reinhardtii) and cyanobacteria (Syechocystis). Injected into the tadpole's heart, these algae are transported to the tadpole's brain by the beating heart.

When the oxygen supply was cut off, the brain nerve activity of the experimental tadpoles gradually decreased. However, under light irradiation, the tadpole's brain nerve activity resumed within 15 to 20 minutes of the algae injection, and the effect was similar to the effect of taking oxygen by itself but when the researchers turned off the light, the tadpole's neuronal activity stopped again.

Hans Straka, one of the authors of the study, said that this experiment does not mean that the human body can supply oxygen by injecting algae. There is still a long way to go in practice but the team successfully demonstrated the experimental principle, the oxygen produced by algae It can bring the brain back to life, and this research is also the first step to start other research.

Diana Martinez, a neuroscientist at Rowan University in New Jersey, who was not involved in the study, believes that if this study is to be extended to other applications, the first problem encountered is that the tadpole skin used in the study is transparent. Light can easily penetrate the skin, allowing the algae to photosynthesize. If it is other animals with more complex structures, the light may not pass through the skin, and the algae will not be able to function in the blood vessels.

The CCP calls the tested hypersonic missile a "spacecraft". Expert: No contradiction

Reporter : Li Zhaoxi / Editor: Lin Qing / https://www.ntdtv.com/gb/2021/10/19/a103246894.html

Last weekend, the Financial Times cited multiple sources to disclose that the CCP tested a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile in August. Japan), Beijing denied this and claimed that the test was a space vehicle. Some experts said that these two completely different interpretations are not necessarily contradictory to each other.

On Monday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian argued that China was testing reusable "spacecraft," not missiles.

"This is an issue involving any kind of missile engineering technology, many of which have dual uses," said Ian Williams, deputy director of the missile defense program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a US think tank. ) to Business Insider.

WIlliams explained, "We have seen this in Iran and in North Korea. When they were developing intercontinental ballistic missiles, the things they tested looked a bit like some kind of gentle space technology, but in fact, there was a military purpose behind them."

He pointed out that the former Soviet Union launched the first intercontinental ballistic missile, the R-7, which is basically the same as the Vostok spacecraft on which astronaut Yuri Gagarin entered space.

Before the Financial Times report, General Glen VanHerck, the commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), issued a vague statement in August, saying that China "recently demonstrated Has a very advanced hypersonic glider capability."

In September, US Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall said that China has the potential to carry out global strikes from space. "(The CCP) may launch weapons into space, and then apply this old concept from the Cold War era, namely the'Partial Orbital Bombing System' (FOBS)," Kendall explained, which is a weapon system launched into orbit. Then off-track to strike the target.

The former Soviet Union deployed FOBS with nuclear warheads during the Cold War but they were later abandoned.

Kendall said that if this method is adopted, traditional intercontinental ballistics will not be necessary. "This is a way to avoid defense systems and missile early warning systems."

FOBS allows the adversary to launch missiles over the Antarctic, effectively bypassing the United States' defense systems, which are focused on countering conventional threats from intercontinental missiles over the Arctic.

Jeffrey Lewis, director of the East Asian non-proliferation program at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, Middlebury Institute of International Studies, said that as a way to counter the US missile defense system, if Russia, the CCP, or North Korea resume FOBS, he will not be surprised.

Unlike the FOBS deployed by the former Soviet Union during the Cold War, it is reported that the system tested by the CCP used a hypersonic glider instead of a traditional nuclear-capable reentry vehicle.

Hypersonic missiles are a key area of strategic competition among major powers, and are a formidable challenge to the US missile defense system. Williams speculated that if the United States can track the orbital launch platform, it can try to intercept traditional FOBS, but the interception of hypersonic gliding vehicles is beyond the current range of capabilities.

U.S. and Canadian warships pass through the Taiwan Strait to declare a firm commitment

Two weeks after the CCP’s military aircraft broke the record for disrupting Taiwan, from 14 to 15 October, the United States and Canada each sent a warship through the Taiwan Strait to show their The promise of peace and stability in the region.

The U.S. military stated on 17 October that the U.S. Navy Ally. The Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey and the Royal Canadian Navy frigate USS Winnipeg (HMCS Winnipeg) crossed the Taiwan Strait on 14 and 15 October. This move demonstrates the commitment of the United States and its allies and partners to a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

Shi Yi, a spokesman for the Eastern Theater of the Communist Party of China, immediately confirmed the news. He said that the CCP’s eastern theater of operations organized naval and air forces to monitor and monitor the entire process, saying that the theater’s forces are always on high alert. He also claimed to resolutely counter all threats and provocations.

The Chinese Communist Party's official media "Global Times" admitted that this operation is the first time that the US military has crossed the Taiwan Strait with a ship from another country in recent years, and it is also the tenth time that a US military ship has crossed the Taiwan Strait this year.

At present, tensions in the Taiwan Strait are increasing. In the past year, the CCP has sent military aircraft into Taiwan’s air defense identification zone on many occasions. Only from the 1st of this month for 4 consecutive days, the CCP has dispatched nearly 150 military aircraft into the area.

On 17 October, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense stated that three Chinese aircraft-two J-16 fighter jets and a Y-8 anti-submarine patrol aircraft had once again entered the Taiwan Air Defense Identification Zone.

Since the beginning of this year, U.S. naval vessels have crossed the Taiwan Strait approximately every month, and U.S. allies, including British and Canadian naval vessels, have occasionally passed through the strait.

On 14 October, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the U.S. commitment to Taiwan is "rock solid" because of rising tensions between Taiwan and the CCP. Psaki said, "We will continue to support Taiwan's self-defense."

On the same day, Taiwan’s Defense Minister Qiu Guozheng said in the Legislative Yuan that wars must be "famous" and the Republic of China will absolutely "do not start war" but he also said that once the CCP makes military actions, Taiwan’s fighter planes are not plastic planes standing still, and there will be no response.

Qiu Guozheng attended the Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee of the Legislative Yuan to report that the situation in the Taiwan Strait has attracted media attention. Qiu Guo is answering the question of DPP legislator Wang Dingyu, saying that the Republic of China will absolutely want  "no war" and will not cause a war. Once it is forced by military threats, we must challenge. It is impossible for the other party to "the first battle is the end". Initiating a war, "there is endless, it is not a unilateral decision."

Qiu Guozheng said, "A cannonball sounds irrespective of color. As far as the military is concerned, it is incumbent on the military to look at the defense operations of Taiwan and Penghu, maintain national security, and let the people live in a democratic and free environment."

Delta covi sub-variant AY.4.2 spotted in the UK in June 2021 could be more infectious

Source : Emily Craig, Daily Mail / https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10107049/Is-infectious-strain-Delta-taking-Britain.html

A subvariant of the Delta covi strain could be more infectious than its ancestor, experts warned today after data revealed the proportion of cases linked to the strain doubled in a month.

AY.4.2, as it is currently known to scientists, made up almost 10 per cent of ceases in England in the fortnight ending 9 October. Virus-trackers at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, which sequences thousands of covi samples in England every week, say its prevalence stood at just four per cent in mid-September.

Experts estimate that it could be up to 15 per cent more infectious than the original Delta strain, which is dominant worldwide and quickly took off in Britain in the spring.

Some 45 different sub-lineages of the variant — which was first spotted in India and is thought to be the most transmissible strain of covi — have been recorded so far.

No10 is keeping a close eye on AY.4.2 but said there is 'no evidence' that it spreads more easily. Boris Johnson's official spokesperson today warned the Government 'won't hesitate to take action if necessary'.

It comes amid spiralling cases in the UK, which have shot up to almost 50,000 yesterday in a three-month high.

Experts suggested AY.4.2 may be partly to blame, along with return of pupils to classrooms from August and workers to offices.

SAGE fears there will be a fourth wave by the end of the year that will cripple the NHS.

Study: "No discernible relationship" between vaccine status and covid cases; infection many be higher among fully vaccinated

Reporter : Gabriel Keane, National File

A new study published in the NIH NCBI database and authored by Harvard professor S. V. Subramanian, Ph.D, and Penn State professor Akhil Kumar, Ph.D claims that vaccination rates have “no discernable relationship” with the amount of new covid cases, and notes that “In fact, the trend line suggests a marginally positive association such that countries with higher percentage of population fully vaccinated have higher covid cases per 1 million people.”

“At the country-level, there appears to be no discernable relationship between percentage of population fully vaccinated and new covid cases in the last 7 days,” the report states. “In fact, the trend line suggests a marginally positive association such that countries with higher percentage of population fully vaccinated have higher covid cases per 1 million people. Notably, Israel with over 60% of their population fully vaccinated had the highest COVID-19 cases per 1 million people in the last 7 days.”

Additionally, the report points out that “The lack of a meaningful association between percentage population fully vaccinated and new covid cases is further exemplified, for instance, by comparison of Iceland and Portugal. Both countries have over 75% of their population fully vaccinated and have more COVID-19 cases per 1 million people than countries such as Vietnam and South Africa that have around 10% of their population fully vaccinated.”

“Across the US counties too, the median new covid cases per 100,000 people in the last 7 days is largely similar across the categories of percent population fully vaccinated (Fig. 2),” the report continues.

“Notably there is also substantial county variation in new covid cases within categories of percentage population fully vaccinated. There also appears to be no significant signaling of covid cases decreasing with higher percentages of population fully vaccinated (Fig. 3).”

The study further notes that “Of the top 5 counties that have the highest percentage of population fully vaccinated (99.9–84.3%), the US CDC identifies 4 of them as ‘High’ Transmission counties. Chattahoochee (Georgia), McKinley (New Mexico), and Arecibo (Puerto Rico) counties have above 90% of their population fully vaccinated with all three being classified as ‘High’ transmission. Conversely, of the 57 counties that have been classified as “low” transmission counties by the CDC, 26.3% (15) have percentage of population fully vaccinated below 20%.”

Singapore is in the most severe period of the covid epidemic. In the past three weeks, 168 people have died of the disease.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) stated in a statement at night of 19 October that in the past few days, the number of elderly people over 60 who have contracted covid but have not been vaccinated has increased to more than 100 cases per day. They are at risk of severe illness. MOH calls on the elderly to reduce going out.

CNA reported that the number of hospitalizations, intensive care units and patients requiring oxygen supply in the local area have increased in the past three weeks. However, the speed of virus infection has slowed down.

Confirmed cases

Three weeks ago, on 27 September, the day the government tightened its measures, there were 1,647 new cases in the local area, and the number of new cases in a single day exceeded 2,000 the next day. It is still below this number until today.

A week later, on 5 October, Singapore added more than 3,000 new cases in a single day, and exceeded this number for several consecutive days, until 10 October when it fell below 3,000.

The Ministry of Health said on 8 October that although the number of new cases is increasing, the time it takes to double the number of cases has been reduced to 10 to 12 days from the previous six to eight weeks.

Health Minister Ong Ye Kung subsequently pointed out that the new measures have helped slow down the speed of infection, and the number of confirmed cases has not doubled every week.

At present, there are still about 3000 new cases every day in the local area. On 19 October it hit a new single-day high with 3994 new cases.

Death cases

As the number of confirmed cases increased, so did the number of local deaths. On 27 September, two people died of covid in Singapore, and the number of new deaths in the following days ranged from two to nine. On 9 October, the number of local deaths exceeded ten for the first time, and 11 people died of coronary disease on the same day.

On 14 October, the number of new local deaths in a single day reached a record high, reaching 15 cases. On the same day, the locality also notified the youngest death case, a 23-year-old patient with potential health problems who had completed partial vaccination and passed away.

From 27 September to 19 October, 168 deaths from covid were reported locally, which is 30 more than the same period earlier.

Intensive care unit and patients requiring oxygen supply

On 27 September, there were 27 cases of covid in the Intensive Care Units, and a few days later, there were 30 cases, and until 7 October, there were 40 cases in the intensive care unit. Currently, the number of intensive care units has not decreased.

On 16 October, the number of cases in the intensive care unit increased significantly, from 48 to 62. As of 19 October, there are 71 local patients in the intensive care unit.

The number of patients requiring oxygen supply increased from 194 on 27 September to more than 200 on 30 September, and exceeded 300 on 8 October, and then remained above 300. As of 19 October 2021, there were a total of 338 local patients requiring oxygen supplementation.

Number of hospitalizations

From the first three weeks, the number of hospitalizations has maintained an upward trend. On October 11, there were 1698 local hospitalizations.

On 10 October, after the government expanded the home rehabilitation program, the number of hospitalizations dropped slightly, but it has rebounded recently. As of 19 October 2021, a total of 1738 patients had been hospitalized.

Huntington Beach residents: Stand up for your kids

On 18 October, hundreds of residents gathered near the Huntington Beach pier, and passing vehicles continued to honked their horns for support.

Resident Jay Steele told reporters that participating in the rally "is to support all families who decide to let their children drop out of school, and let Newsom know that we oppose all mandatory requirements, whether it's wearing masks or compulsory vaccination." "There is no safe vaccine. If you look for the evaluation data, you may see that the vaccine may cause cancer, genetic mutation or infertility." He said.

Resident Bruce Warehy told reporters that there were kindergarten teachers and school teachers among the rally. He questioned, "Why is it necessary to implement herd immunity on children? No prisoners are forced to be vaccinated."

Resident Julie Allen believes, “Children are strong and can defeat COVID-19. There is no evidence that children will get sick and die.” She said that forcing children to vaccinate is absurd, and the school district instills “sex”. "Concepts" and Critical Racism Theory (CRT), the school board has not yet let parents protest, "These should be chosen by the parents."

The mother of three children, Marissa Mendez (Marissa Mendez), said that her two children have already withdrawn from public schools. If the school is forced to vaccinate, she will bring the other child out at any time. "I believe that children do not need to be vaccinated. They are in the stage of building immunity." She believes that compulsory vaccinations are illegal, and people need to come out to protect their rights. "We are Americans, with the right to health and freedom of religion. Protected by the Constitution".

Mendes said that government officials were supposed to serve the residents, but now they are asking the people to obey orders, "How many options do we have now? (Without vaccinations) can't go to restaurants, gyms, concerts, and games." "Many people are too comfortable, not realizing that we must fight for freedom."
