The US presidential election polls are too close to predict the outcome, but the media have reported that Republican presidential candidate Trump has formed a transition team composed mainly of people he trusts, including Vice Presidential candidate Vance and Trump's sons Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.

The New York Times reported that key personnel of the right-wing think tank America First Policy Institute (AFPI), which was established in the summer of 2020, have recently been quietly appointed to full-time positions in the Trump camp's transition team.

Linda McMahon, chairman of the AFPI board of directors, long-time friend of Trump and former director of the Small Business Administration, has been appointed as co-chair of the team. If Trump is elected, AFPI CEO Brooke Rollins may serve as White House chief of staff; Rollins once said that AFPI has drafted nearly 300 executive orders for Trump to sign after taking office.

AFPI spokesman Marc Lotter said that the think tank does not speak for any candidate, campaign or transition team.

Compared to the Heritage Foundation, a Washington think tank, which made a big splash last year and announced the "2025 Project" as Trump's second-term blueprint, becoming the focus of attack by the liberal media, the Trump camp drew a clear line, and the members of the transfer team used the Control+F function key to search for the list of people who appeared in the plan to avoid appointment.

AFPI held an internal seminar in Washington this summer in a low-key manner to discuss how to deal with and face federal government officials and mainstream media, who are mainly left-wingers. AFPI has discussed the new government structure and cabinet candidates with the Trump camp.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Howard Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, a large New York financial company, is responsible for the supervision of the power transfer team. Vice presidential candidate JD Vance and Trump's sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. are also listed as co-chairs.

The Trump team's transition team has indicated that it refuses to sign a transition agreement with the Biden-Harris administration, which will allow it to use federal government offices and consult with White House departments after being elected. Since the team that signed the agreement will comply with various federal regulations and information protection, McMahon and Lutnick pointed out that they will manage the team according to internal control rules.

Before Trump took office in 2016, personnel information kept leaking. An anonymous person familiar with the transition team pointed out that dozens of people have been working in the team without pay, and the future federal government official selection plan is confidential. Some insiders also pointed out that the team has internally investigated the members' willingness to work in the future government, but not every department has been consulted.

Compared with the Trump camp's active preparations for the transition team and the preparation of possible candidates for the new cabinet, the current Vice President Kamala Harris's transition team is much smaller; both of them are focused on the final sprint and avoid talking about the transfer of power.
