Whether or not U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will visit Taiwan during her Asian trip has attracted international attention. Although Pelosi insisted that she would visit Taiwan, the Washington Post reported that diplomatic sources confirmed that Pelosi would definitely visit Taiwan.

Nancy Pelosi said, "I never talk about my travel itinerary because some of you know it's a security issue."

On 29 July 2022, Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, again refused to disclose whether Taiwan is included on the grounds of security but she said that the United States attaches great importance to its relations with countries in the Asia-Pacific region and is very excited about this visit.

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, "I'm very excited that if we go to those countries, along the way you'll hear about which countries are included."

Although Pelosi insisted not to let go, the U.S. media Washington Post reported that diplomatic sources confirmed that Pelosi was determined to visit Taiwan.

On 28 July, the Pingtan Maritime Safety Administration of the Communist Party of China announced that on the 30th, from 8 am to 9 pm in the waters near Yiqi Island, Pingtan, Fujian, live-fire training was carried out, and all ships were prohibited from entering. Pingtan is only 126 km away from Hsinchu, Taiwan, and is the narrowest section of the Taiwan Strait.

Former U.S. State Department Assistant Secretary for Asia and the Pacific Stilwell commented, "These are just pointless, empty and false threats to make us back down. (CCP) He's just talking, we know the fact that nothing we've done violates us because we did keep our promises. So we just need to ignore those (aggressive) rhetoric.”

On 29 July, John Kirby, the strategic communication coordinator of the White House National Security Council, was asked if he had observed any military actions by China, and said that he had not seen any specific and clear signs that CCP China was detrimental to Taiwan. Regarding the CCP's bellicose remarks in recent days, Kirby said that the CCP "doesn't need to do this."
