Biden recently released his first foreign policy speech after taking office at the US State Department. He said that the CCP is the most severe competitor of the United States; but on the premise that it is in the interests of the United States, the United States is willing to cooperate with Beijing. Chinese democracy activist Wang Dan explained that the future "confrontation" will not appear in the United States' China policy, and the United States and the West will pay for this.

On February 4, Biden made a foreign policy speech at the US State Department. This is the first foreign policy speech by a US president after the Biden administration took office.

Biden said: America's alliance is America's greatest wealth. Playing a leading role in international diplomacy means that the United States must once again stand shoulder to shoulder with our allies and important partners.

When it comes to China, Biden said that the United States will directly face the challenges China poses to the United States. The United States will counter China’s economic coercive actions and will also counter China’s attacks on human rights, intellectual property rights, and global governance.

At the same time, Biden also mentioned that the CCP is the most severe competitor of the United States, but Washington will prepare to cooperate with Beijing if it is in the interests of the United States.

In this regard, Chinese democracy activist Wang Dan said that Biden has officially positioned the CCP as a "competitor" rather than a "threat", which can be said to be a declaration of a return to "appeasementism" in China's policy.

Wang Dan believes that this positioning itself is also absurd. The so-called "competition" means that both parties will abide by a set of rules of the game, otherwise how to compete? But does the CCP today mean to abide by international rules at all? A person who does not follow the rules can only be a saboteur and troublemaker, how can he be a "competitor"? !

Wang Dan lamented that in the future, the word "confrontation" will not appear in the United States' China policy, and "negotiation" and "dialogue" will once again become interactive modes. This is expected, and the United States and the West will pay for it.

In fact, Biden’s candidate for Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, also stated that there is a cooperative aspect to the US-China relationship. They may cooperate with Beijing on climate change and other issues.

The day after Biden took office, six core issues were removed from the policy issues section of the US State Department website, including the threat of the Chinese Communist Party, 5G security, and illegal immigration.

The CCP Threat is a new column launched by Pompeo in November 2020, which summarizes in detail the threats the CCP poses to global peace and security. At present, it is not clear why the Biden administration withdrew these policy issues.

Within a few days after Biden took office, dozens of administrative orders were signed, overturning many of the Trump administration's administrative orders, including prohibiting the federal government from speaking about the "Chinese virus" and postponing the investment ban on Chinese military enterprises.

At the same time, Brinken referred to Tsai Ing-wen as "Taiwan's elected representative" and emphasized that support for Taiwan must be prudent.

Faced with the frequent harassment of Taiwan by Chinese military planes and the holding of military exercises in the South China Sea, the Biden administration not only failed to counterattack, but declared that it would adopt "strategic patience."

On February 3, the new U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin convened military leaders and announced plans to suspend U.S. military activities for the next 60 days to strengthen the fight against the so-called white supremacy and right-wing extremism in the U.S. military.

The Department of Defense did not disclose the length of time for the suspension of US military activities. According to reports, the 60-day period will be arranged by the commander, and it did not mention what form of action will be taken.
